Lulu just watched the things happening and wondering what was going on in the department. Though Lulu was curious, she had no questions in set. Weird? But... maybe Mariel did? She seemed smart, and Konrad being a Secretary... he must know things.

"Though I suppose they had some excitement last year," she mused, think about some school incident she thought she had read about.
Pulling herself out of her reverie, the brunette smiled back at the group. Well, Lourdes was being a bit quiet.. She couldn't tell if she was completely captivated by the thought of Magical Transportation or just had no questions. She decided it was the latter. "Well.. I don't think I have any questions here," she said, giving another cursory glance about the area. She supposed they could keep moving if that was the consensus.
Well, they seemed awfully quiet. First Lourdes, and then Mariel stepped rather hesitantly down the corridor. Perhaps they were still worrying about the man they encountered earlier? Or maybe they just didn't have any questions. It's not like he left much to their imagination, since he pretty much summed up everything they could find on level six.
"Alright," Konrad broke the silence, smiling at the two of them. "If there is nothing else...?" Mariel said she had no questions, but he turned to look at Lourdes for a moment. "Shall we go on to the next level?"
The lift opened onto the corridor of level six. Jade stepped out and turned to the two women. "I apologize; sometimes the lift gets misdirected sometimes. This way."
She led them to the Transportation department's reception area. "Here is the Department of Transportation. Here you get your apparition license if you don't have one or if you need to renew it. They also handle all portkeys to and from the Ministry and all over the Wizarding world. Any questions?"

Ooo, so this was the Transportation department! Nice. Cora wasn't sure she would need to come here too often since she didn't need to renew her Apparition license for awhile, and she didn't need portkeys or anything. But at least she knew where to come if she did!
"Cool place," she commented, beaming. "I don't think I have any questions though." Everything seemed pretty straightforward to her for this level. Nothing she was really curious about either.

Grateful that neither woman had questions since she really did need to start wrapping this tour up, Jade smiled at them both and started walking towards the lifts, "We have another two levels to visit. Now we are going to level one next which is where the office of Minister of Magic is. It is very bureaucratic if you ask me, but here we go."
As soon as they were in the lift, she pressed the button for level one.

He never truly understood how bothersome having faulty lifts were until he found himself taking the stairs more than he liked. It was fine in the mornings, a routine really but throughout the day when he didn't have the time to be going through level by level just to get to the Atrium, it posed a grand problem.
Gavin stuck his hands in his pockets and made his way down the corridor. Fairly empty right now, something going right for once? He didn't trust it. He had this sinking feeling that at any moment Cale would run by, screeching about a mutant in his office. As ridiculous as the idea was, it got him to turn around...checking.
He shook the idea from his head and continued walking. Some lunch was definitely in order.

All morning she had been having back pain and she was beginning to think being at work so much was putting a lot of strain on her. Her first pregnancy was a breeze but this one..yeah not so much. Didn't matter though she had a lot to know and some of it involved going to level six but with the lift not working she definitely had to walk.
Definitely took a toll on her.
She paused in the corridor and leaned against the wall to catch her breath, only to realize that she wasn't alone.
"Oh...I guess I'm not the only one forced to exercise because of the lift."

It wasn't until he'd turned into the next corridor that he ran into his first bit of company since he'd started his walk along this Level. She looked winded and very very pregnant, which made him hope against all else that her leaning against the wall right there was just her catching her breath and not in fact the beginning of what might wind up being the most uncomfortable day of his entire life.
The thought almost made chancing the lifts seem worth it but then she spoke and didn't sound at all like she might have been about to pop a baby in the middle of the corridor. This he could handle.
Gavin gave her a nod. "I can't think of anyone who isn't affected. The bloody thing stops when it has a mind to and I have places to be." Not to mention the idea of being trapped in a lift with a bunch of people was NOT in the least bit appealing. And his manners, he hadn't left them up in his office. "Gavin Isaacs. Senior Undersecretary." In the spirit of trying he extended his hand as well. Had to get over this contact thing at some point.

Layla raised her brow at him but didn't say anything for a couple of seconds. She was still catching her breath after all. "Well I can think of a few persons who really hardly ever leave there desk so, that should answer your question."
Layla finally leaned off the wall and moved towards the man.
"I know who you are." She offered her hand. "Layla McLaughlin, Ambassador to Magical Lands among other things. Pleasure to officially meet you."

She had a point there. Then there were those who worked in the Daycare and Level 9. The lifts wouldn't bother them much. "The lucky few." He responded.
Her getting off the wall reassured him that she really was fine. That breath he may have been holding was now able to be released. He raised an eyebrow at her, taken aback but not necessarily in a bad way. "Have you? I think I'm meant to be flattered." Gavin gave her hand a firm shake. "Pleasure meeting you." And quite an impressive title she had following her name. There was one thing that caught his attention in particular.
"Among other things?"

Layla shook her head. She couldn't imagine just sitting at her desk all day pouring over paper.
"I don't know if I agree with you Senior Undersecretary." Layla chuckled and shook her head."I'm not trying to flatter you though, fortunately." She returned a firm hand herself and met his eyes like a well practiced diplomat.
"Well yes, I have other responsibilities here. I'm not as young as I look."

"I've had civil disagreements before. I'll live." He said with a small shrug, smiling just a little at the memory of all those odd disagreements he had every now and then with a certain Department Head on Level Two. "And that's a pity. I've always been rather fond of flattery. It's a lost art." Really it was. Had they removed it from the cirriculum?
"I'd have never guessed." His free hand was slipped back into his pocket. "The age thing I mean but it doesn't surprize me that someone with such a large title would have her hands busy with other things as well."
He could appreciate people with a fair amount of responsibilities, it was the bums barely holding up one job but complaining that typically got to him. They killed business. Made making a profit ridiculously difficult.

"Well I'm sure you willl Senior Undersecretary because in your line of work you have a whole lot of that to go through." They were involved in politics after all. Oh politics, lovely politics. He received a raised eyebrow from his comment on flattery." Hmm..it's not only lost with me..it's dead."
Layla smiled. Now who was flattering who now? Her hand rested on her stomach as she summed up the man in front of her. "Yes well as I always say, a little hard work never really hurts anybody." Good philosophy to live by if you asked her.

Hah! Gavin gave a short laugh, amused by the idea. In the field of politics there were civil disagreements then there was the majority. Not nearly as civil and often somewhat irritating. "Touché." He responded. His eyebrow arched in amusement. "Dead? Pity. What made that happen?" Not lost but dead. Merlin. That was an interesting way of going about it.
And that was the kind of thing he liked hearing. Pity she wasn't in his Department. She'd make a perfect addition; fit right in really. "An inspired way of thinking."
And the belly was still distracting. "Are you due soon?" He was gonna ask if it was twins....but that might have been rude.........

A smug smirk took up residence on her face. Yep she was here all day. Well certainly not in the hallway but here. She was thoughtful for a moment, not exactly sure how to answer his question. "Well I don't think it ever resounded with me in the first place. I'm not a flatterer. Sorry."
Layla chuckled and shook his head.
"Due soon? Merlin no! Do I even look that big?" Should she feel insulted? She eyed the man and then she looked down at her own belly. Sigh, pregnancy.

"It's perfectly fine." He said with a casual shrug. He could think of a few people who'd never really gotten into the business of flattery, himself being one of them, didn't mean he didn't enjoy it or that he necessarily expected it from everyone else okay maybe he did.
And she was chuckling, he nearly breathed a sigh of relief. His question hadn't offended her and good thing too. He wasn't very good with situations in which he'd offended a woman...they had a habit of suddenly getting vicious.
Her question set him right back to that feeling of walking on egg shells. Despite her seemingly good mood he wouldn't be naive enough to think anything goes. Pregnant equaled hormones. "No...yes. I don't actually know. I'm not familiar with pregnancy sizes." Big was big, once you were big, he would automatically assume a close due date. How big could the little suckers get in 9 months?

That earlier instance had been close.
Penelope had nearly gotten a shot of him and nudged Simon into being more careful. The man had detoured away from his original destination not wanting to be caught while he was trying to actively work. But he still needed to cover the ground he had been planning on, so he had doubled back through the ways he knew so well and found his way back to Level 6 a few hours later.
Everything seemed like the it was all up and up. Nothing striking the security man he walked down the corridor of the department, occasionally acknowledging any and all he passed by but otherwise staying out of peoples way. If there was anything he learned in dealing with the likes of Gavin, it was that less noticable could often be the most helpful. And if a certain department decided to cause trouble for the MLE, Simon certainly didn't want to present himself as a bother.
Nope...nothing to see here but a security man doing his job around the ministry.
Lynley had run from her office--and in heels, that was quite a feat. She slipped them off and was now...walking barefoot down the corridor...looking at everything wide-eyed and like a deer in headlights.
She wanted to cry.
If anyone came NEAR her she would jab them with her heels! And that was NOT a bluff!
WHERE THE HECK WAS SHE?

It was hard not to smirk at what the man said. True enough; not everyone could say that they squirted their Department Head with water.
"Thanks for the help," Gabby said actually being genuine about it. She actually WAS worried about her boss even if she wasn't showing it much. She LIKED Lynley. Usually they got along well - well, when the other woman wasn't being insane. Sighing, she shook that thought off. If they couldn't deal with this, St. Mungo's was more than capable to.
She has to be around here somewhere...
AHA!
Her boss was ambling around...without shoes on? Well, okay then. Honestly this wasn't the craziest thing she'd seen today. "Lynley?" she said calmly as she slowly approached her boss. Those heels could be used to attack them and it was probably best to approach with caution; even she knew how dangerous someone in that state could be when they felt confused and threatened.

Stepping out into the corridor, Chloe pulled her hairband from her locks and then readjusted it back into an updo, casually twisting it around to form a makeshift 'fast' bun.
Hopefully, Lynley would be as genuine and caring as she knew her boss had the potential to be. It wasn't as if she'd planned anything and well, technically it wasn't her fault. Not entirely, anyway. Leaning against the wall, she closed her eyes reflectively as she waited for her boss to follow her out to chat with her.

Lynley followed after Chloe...and made sure no one was walking down the corridor when she stopped and leaned against the wall in front of the young woman. "So...what it is, Chloe?" she asked with an eyebrow raise. She pursed her lips and crossed her arms over her chest.
Was it good or bad? She was trying to scope it out, but wasn't sure she could tell right now.

Was it good or bad? She was trying to scope it out, but wasn't sure she could tell right now.
Upon hearing Lynley's voice, Chloe's eyes opened immediately and one of the first things she detected was a hint of impatience, perhaps. She guessed in part because Lynley had to interrupt her workflow to come talk to her, but it wasn't as if talking to her employees wasn't a part of her job.
Placing the palms her of hands behind her on the corridor wall, she bit her lower lip cautiously. Best to just get it over with; she was a Gryffindor for crying out loud!
"Well, i just wanted you to hear it from me first, but ... impregnant." the words came out quickly and almost incomprehensible, so she said it again, more clearly. "Ahem, sorry, I mean, I'm pregnant." There. Done. Here comes the lecture now; she'd already received one from her parents, who were most definitely shocked at first.

The first sentence made Lynley stand up straight. Hear from her first? Merlin, what was she about to hear?! Was she quitting?! She couldn't quit! Lynley would be enraged! WAS SHE QUITTING?!?!?
Oh.
Pregnant.
Preg.Nant.
Was it something in the water on Level Six? Because Merlin.
"O-Oh." She said softly. "Well..." she made a face. "You're so young. Will you be okay? Do you have help?" she asked softly. This was different. Lynley didn't feel irritated, annoyed, or angry. She felt...well, something. "I expect the child has a father as well. Is he informed?" she asked in a businesslike manner. "When are you due? You'll need maternity leave.." Which, bleh. She hated it. But whatever. She'd get over it?

Lynley's face and expression wasn't as enraged as she thought it would be, but rather her boss spoke softly and caring, almost. And it honestly made Chloe feel more comfortable that she'd done the right thing in speaking to Lynley first, because well, she'd already dealt with the headache lectures from her parents and siblings, didn't need it from work too.
She bit her lip, hating when people said she was so young. She was twenty-one, for merlin's sake! She doubted her mother had this much grief when she was pregnant with herself. "I have help. My parents are willing to help, it's their first grandchild after all, and my uncles and aunts will be there too. And... " she hesitated a moment, when Lynley mentioned the father, "Yes, I reckon the father will be there too. He knows, yes." And was she was working on coaching him to be more responsible, but Archer Stark was definitely a work in progress. Not that she told Lynley who the father was; she didn't need to know that much information, yet at least. "I'm due the end of April, so I guess, assuming everything goes the way its supposed to, I'll need off maybe the week before? And a few weeks after?" There was daycare at the Ministry and she knew her baby would be in good hands with Hayley working there and all, even if the baby was only a month old.
