There are multiple round tables with piles of both index cards and straws on each table. Your job, as an employee, is to team up with other employees and make a functioning, stand-alone building out of these flimsy materials. It can be friends or people you don’t know. Branch out from own department! This activity is designed to build team-working skills and to let you HAVE FUN!
There are chairs in case you don’t want to stand, but feel free to really get into this activity. Also….NO MAGIC!
Adjusting his tie just a fraction looser around his neck, Logan made his way into the room, after passing by security, where they by the look of things were going to be constructing a building, out of index cards and straws. When he was a kid he had always liked playing and building stuff with lego so maybe this would be fun. Choosing a table at random Logan pulled out a chair, hung his dark suit jacket over the back, before sitting down.
Scratching his brown bearded chin, Logan read the instructions and made just a little pouty grimace at the no using magic rule, before he started to test the feel of the of the paper. Hopefully someone would join him soon so that he didn't have to construct this index and straw building all by himself. Because that would be no fun.
The holidays were over and tomorrow it was back to work on level 3.

SPOILER!!: Logan ^_^

Megan was not nervous about meeting all these new people. No, she had been though worse nerve wracking situations but she always managed to keep herself calm focused. She observed the persons around her, wanting some company but not wanting too much of it at the same time. She was dressed in a comfortable purple dress, her face done with make up with precision thanks to her lover, Yuna.
She hugged herself as she noted a man occupied with nothing but the straw and index cards at a table. Perhaps he wouldn't mind some company. Megan made her way over to him, her sleek and shiny hair (again thanks to Yuna) rippling over her shoulders every time she took a step. "Hi. Do you mind if I join you?"

It was a new city and new place for the 28-year old. He just moved in yesterday after he got a letter from his new boss saying he got the job. It is time to meet some new people.
He walked in while tugging his trench coat firmly around his waist and upon arriving he looked around. Obviously it was harder to spot anyone he knows this time. He barely has any clue whether or not the people he will meet today will be someone he will work with in the same department.
He walked towards the chair and decided to wait for more people to arrive. It is not a secret that Thomas can mingle but he is very awkward at approaching new people. It's a nice day, maybe he'll meet someone he knows. He reached out to a piece of paper and read the contents. Smirking at the 'no magic' rule.
Lynley click-clacked her way over to the ice breaker activity and raised an eyebrow at all of the employees...standing around and doing NOTHING.
She eyed the young man near her [Thomas] and put a hand on his back as she stopped next to him. "Hello, Mr.....? Welcome to the Ministry of Magic orientation. Why don't you....either join their table or pick a new one? Oh won't this be challenging--and fun--" there was an edge to her voice, and she seemed....irritated about something. The slight smile on her face was dabbled with a little.....non-genuineness.
"Feel free to STAAAART whenever you WANT--" like, chop chop people, HELLO? Come on? Merlin. Lynley was an impatient lady.

Grant wasn't sure what he was doing, but he was just playing with the materials to make the little paper tower. Hmm. This seemed like fun. He just needed a team to help him.
He wasn't thinking about his new job yet. Nah, there would be plenty of time for that. 'Portkey Master General' seemed so fancy, he felt like he needed a mustache, or a monocle, or something else fancy. Ohh a faithful steed. That would help his fancy image. Maybe he should get an old timey war painting of himself to hang in the office, officer uniform and everything.
This was so exciting and wonderful, also new!! Eeeek! Talullah was so happy to be here. She was actually in the Ministry of Magic and she was going to be working here! It was so amazing. The blonde was up for anything new. New meant exciting. She didn't know what she wanted to do first at the orientation. Well she wanted to meet some co-workers from her department and her boss but she didn't know anyone right now. She would just go around introducing herself to people but she had an idea that some of the sports fans would know who she is.
Hmmm.
What was going on here? She wasn't sure what she had gotten into over here. Talullah looked around and wondered what kind of exercise was. She was sure it was something to get everyone to know each other. She didn't need exercises to have her make new friends. She was positive that was good at that on her own!! Lullah looked around and thought it would be a great time to start making some friends. The blonde noticed a make (Grant) The woman walked up to him and smiled brightly. "Hello." She said in a cheerful tone.

Grant was deep in thought, still on about that painting in his head. He was thinking about seriously getting it done now. But should he be a ship captain? Or on a horse? Or one hand in his coat like Napoleon? Either way he needed a funny mustache.
In any case He-...Oh. There was someone saying hi. "Hi" Grant turned to the Blonde woman and smiled, offering his hand for a handshake. "My Name's Grant, pleasure to meet you." His American accent popping there, his transfer from the American Ministry would take a bit of getting used to.

Having survived last year's mandatory orientation where he had met new people left and right the 25 year old figured that this year's one would go smoothly. Logan was debating how to make a solid ground for his construction and testing different ways, when a pretty lady in a purple dress interrupted his thoughts by coming over to his table. Raising his eyes to met hers and take in her appearance Logan said with a hand gesture to the seat opposite him. "Hi, no, not at all. Feel free to take a seat. I'm Logan by the way." Trying to make the index cards stand without help on the table he asked with a glance to the other woman. "Have you ever tried constructing something like this before?"

This was tougher than lego he noted with some growing frustration. It didn't help matters that with two new entrances it caused a slight draft to go through the room and make Logan's latest index attempt crumble to a heap on the table. Lifting his gaze to see who had come in he saw a man in a trench coat and woman in a green blouse and black pants. Why a blouse and pants and not a dress? She must be someone of authority maybe even a department head like Aron. Waving over to the guy as he called over Leo said. "You're welcome to join us if you want? Building stuff is more fun in a group anyway. If you help us maybe we can even make a paper castle." Eyes glancing over the woman Logan said "The invitation to join is extended to you too if you want?" He had not noted the irritated edge to the woman's voice which she had addressed the other guy with.

Zhenya was quite shy, yes. So many new faces. She'd done the whole meet-and-greet only 4 months earlier at her course with her classmates, and now she was doing it again. With her colleagues. GROWN UP colleagues. But Zhenya had received her job fair and square, and she was excited as anything to be here. Quiet, yes, but excited.
Heading into another area, she saw a few people, a few tables, and cards. She picked one up and read it, looking down at the items on the table. Awesome, a building exercise. But no magic? She pat her hip, where she felt her wand, and looked around. "Hello," she said, "How do we... get started?" Someone just pick up some stuff and make a basic structure or something?

Orientation time at the Ministry once again....
.... given how many times Vickers have attended these events, this should feel like old hat by now , but chit-chatting isnt really his strong suit. So once again he found himself awkwardly drifting around the hall looking at everything and nothing at the same time. Busily vacant. He should add that as his skill set.
But now he found himself staring at a pile of index cards and straws on a table. Lightly furrowing his brow, he neared a fellow (Logan) and was about to ask what was going on when he saw the instructions. Ohhhh building a tower out of office supplies? Well heck, 'bout time his Wizarding Engineering degree served for something around here.
Shyly he sat himself at the table beside the dude "H-Hi…. I'm Vickers. I hope its ok if I could join you? I may be able to help with this..." Yeah just moseying in on an already more-or-less formed group. Much easier than waiting around for people to join him
And just to show that he is a man of his word, he grabbed a card and started folding it in half. Making a paper tower stand-- much easier than small talk mmhm.

Thomas stared at the other people who were trying to attempt such activities and managed to start a really poorly made base. He didn't expect that he'd be challenge into something like this. This would be easier with a tap of a wand. He stiffened a bit when he felt a hand on his back. He snapped his head to look at the woman who spoke. Continuing and finishing her sentence "Leofric... Thomas Hugh Leofric" he did flash a light smile at the woman dressed in green but she certainly has an annoyed attitude. "Pleasure to meet you too" he returned the greeting. He didn't want to bother her at all. Not that he is scared of her or anything but he just moved in to town and this is the stepping stone for his new job. Her voice did raise a bit which made Thomas look at her and nodded.
Luckily for him, he got saved by a guy from a different table. He stood up immediately and said "Yes, let me join you." he smiled then looked over to the lady beside her. "Do you want to join us? Like you said, it'll be fun." with a cool and calm personality Thomas still gave her a soft smile.

Talullah smiled brightly and shook his hand back. "Pleasure to meet you as well, Grant." The Irish woman said in a cheery tone. Nothing would bring down her mood. She also would never allow something or someone to bring her mood down no matter what was going on. "I'm Talullah Whitehall." She was sure that some people knew her surname since she is now a retired pro-quidditch player and her older sister is a pro-gobstones player but judging by his accent she wasn't too sure that he paid much attention to the British-Irish leagues. Thought she was never in those leagues for her pro career.
Talullah took a swift step closer to him and leaned her head up. "So are you new here too?" She whispered. She didn't want to make it known that she was new here but she was sure some people knew who was new and who wasn't.

"....I suppose I can join your table." Even if she had very little faith in anyone's ability besides her own to build anything substantial from these materials. AHHH! Look! Lynley straightened up as Vickers approached the table--and smiled at the man. "Nice to see you, Vickers." She was quite pleased with her employee at the moment. "Welcome back." Hmph. Ahem.
Lynley glanced at both the men's faces. Why were men mostly so useless. Leofric...introduced himself. Lynley could smell the newness on him. He just OOZED being a new employee. It made her smirk wickedly. "Sure. This will be fun." If they won, that was.

Grant looked around to see if any others would join them before they started to build the paper tower or whatever this would end up being. Whatever it was it should be fun. "What department are you in, Talullah?" Was this one of his new coworkers? He had no idea, her name didn't seem familiar to him, but quidditch was never his game.
He bent over just a bit to hear her, Grant was rather tall and she was whispering. Which was a bit odd to say the least. But then he heard what she had to say. Right. "Oh, yeah.. i'm Transferring from the states." He couldn't really stand working there anymore, but that was a story for another time.

Lullah looked around at what some of the other groups were doing. She didn't understand this. "Magical games and sports." She smiled. "You?" She asked. She looked at him, he didn't seem like he would be in the same department as her but you never know. You can't really judge a person on the way they look. People can surprise you.
She only whispered because she wasn't sure if he wanted everyone to hear. Talullah also didn't want to seem rude. She figure she would be easier to understand if she was taller. Curse her shortness. "That's so amazing. Are you from the states? I've been there a couple times."

Logan had made a base of the paper and was playing with the straws putting them up as pillars under the paper when another woman entered the room. Looking up he saw a woman (Zhenya), a few years younger than himself clad in a yellow blouse and black skirt wondering how they were supposed to get started. Gesturing to a vacant seat he said a smile pursing his lips. "Hello, I'm Logan, you're welcome to join us. We're starting to make a paper base for a building, using the index cards and straws provided." Eyes trailed briefly over to the woman (Megan) who had first joined him hoping that he wasn't offending her by letting other people join. They were supposed to socialize after all, weren't they?
He had just managed to create the first paper layer of the building and was debating how big he was going to make it, when another man (Vickers) just invited himself to the table by grabbing the empty seat next to him. Logan smiled at the newcomer, extending a hand for a shake. "Pleasure to meet you Vickers. I'm Logan, I work in Accidents and Catastrophes." As an obliviator. But that seemed like too much information. He wondered about the man's motives for joining them though. Hopefully they were sincere time would tell. Gesturing to the papers and straws he said "Help is appreciated. This is harder than Lego."
Then (Thomas) the man Logan had attempted to save from the woman with the irritated posture came over and joined them too, introducing himself as Thomas. Smiling he said "Pleasure to meet you Thomas, I'm Logan. I work in Accidents and Catastrophes. Are you any good at building things with paper?" It'd be awesome if he was an expert in origami or something.
Moments later they were joined by the irritable woman (Lynley), he just now recognized as one of the people who had actually taken one of his amulets last orientation. Logan was just a little surprised that she agreed to join them. It was hard not to sense the annoyance oozing out of her, but he chose to ignore it as he responded softly. "I'm feeling good. Orientations are fun, don't you think?"

Lynley, Logan, Vickers ... basically everyone in the group
Thomas looked at the woman and a small smile crept upon his face thinking 'wow work hasn't begun yet and she is on a roll. i wonder how she is like in the office'... tough obviously. We all gathered up in one table with Logan, who seems to be ticking off the Lynley lady a bit for some odd reason, Vickers who just joined them and seems to be someone in favor of the Lynley lady. And Lynley, the girl on fire.
As everyone introduced themselves accordingly so did Thomas himself, "I'm Thomas Hugh Leofric from Level 1. Nice to meet everybody else here" he said with a grin. However he did look at the woman in green when she was all pumped up to win this. "Aren't these activities suppose to be fun and help us mingle with each other?" he took a few of the thick hard paper and started.
He looked at Vickers and at the woman again "You two are in the same department?" he said casually. Hey, if they were going to mingle about this he is going to commit at it. Besides they all look like nice fellows that can definitely win this activity. It is going to be hard but it will be fun for sure.
Alright........so they were building. No specifications on what other than functioning....and no magic. The flimsy materials , of course, were not conducive to actually building anything sturdy. This was a challenge, and she accepted. The team mates would probably be the harder part of the endeavor. There was already a big group at one table, so she chose the table next to them. Hopefully other people would come in and she could just wave them over. She was hard to miss in her orange and gold ombre dress, looking like a butterfly.
"Transportation." It's what he did across the pond as well, a different job but same department. But Grant was up for the challenge of something new. A Stranger in a Strange Land really. "So you work with Quidditch and all that stuff?" He honestly knew very little of the sport, it wasn't as big back home.
Right, well in any case the whispering was over with. He wasn't bothered by it so much as he didn't expect it at all. "Did you like it?" Grant nodded and started to stack some of the materials into a little tower, building taller. "I am, born and raised."

Talullah beamed, it always made her happy to be talking about Quidditch. Any sport really. "I do. I actually I just retired from pro-Quidditch." She smiled. She was proud of her eleven years in the pro-Quidditch world. She was pretty great at the sport for a woman. There were times when she gave the men on the two teams she was on a run for their money and some of them didn't like that.
Lullah nodded and put her hands on her hips. She looked at the tower that he was building. "I did like it. I was over there for a few games against some of the America teams." It wasn't all that often. She was considering on going to America for a summer vacation but she wasn't sure. She didn't know all that much about American culture or what there was to do. "I was born and raised in Ireland."
