Tyler nodded at the man...find a desk..he could do that. The thing was if the desk looked vacant i.e not personalized and he took it, rough for anyone it may belong to because he wouldn't be giving it up after he got settled.
"Pleasure Simon..Jory..." Nod. nod...and more people... he turned to look at the man who just walked in. That was cue for Tyler to pocket his hands because it would just be quite ridiculous to go around shaking the hands of everyone who walked in.
Men men men everywhere. He was happy when females entered the room.
But that one girl, the blonde.. had jokes. New recruits get everyone coffee? He chuckled quietly and sat on the edge of the desk he chose.

Stupid subway. Just had to break down on her first day of work. Though, luckily for her, she had managed to catch a cab after a few blocks of walking and nearly freezing her toes off. Unfortunately, she'd had to tell the cabbie to let her off at the little cafe/bakery few blocks down from the Ministry. Which meant that she had had walk the rest of the way. Had to stop by the coffee shop across the street to get warmed up and grab a drink. Anyway, was here now. Annnnnd so was everyone else, by the looks of it.
"Hi, everyone! Am I......late?"That's right Sky, feign ignorance and it'll all be fine. She scanned the room for an empty desk, and finding one, placed her purse on top. "What did I miss?" she asked, taking a sip of her coffee.

Ah yes, the advanced combat one that had been mentioned in this morning's memo as well. "Sure," Simon agreed to the plan. He could always use a refresher and they already knew they worked well together. So they would see when they were both free given Jory's normal training plans and have an afternoon or morning of it.
Tyler was going for his own desk...good, good. And it was a safe one if Simon wasn't totally wrong with the location. The other new YATI, Penelope, should probably be told they could do so as well. Before or after the beverage run was up to her or the young man. But judging by the way Tyler laughed at Genevieve's request for coffee, he certainly wasn't going to voluntarily do it any time soon.
Bummer.
But maybe the last arrival would go along with it. "Good morning," Simon greeted before shaking his head once he had glanced at his watch. "Nope, you're still considered on time," he assured her. The last new YATI had made it to her first day as the rest of them had.
"We were just doing introductions," the auror added. "I'm Simon Bennett, one of the full aurors," he started it off again, letting the rest go as they may.
Victor soon realized that any attempt to politely shake the hands of everyone who entered the office- as was his custom -would be an exercise in futility. He, apparently wasn't the only one either, as he noticed at least two hastily abandoned attempts to do the same. Instead, Victor resorted to giving every new person a polite nod of acknowledgement, each one accompanied by his friendliest smile. Increasingly, as he became more comfortable with the room and the people within it, he visibly relaxed, and every smile became more sincere than the last.
'Maybe this won't be so bad after all.' He thought to himself taking a deep breath and releasing it slowly. "A pleasure to meet you all, to be sure." he offered to the group before making his way over to an empty desk neatly tucked in the corner by the window not far from where they were gathered. He gently placed his leather satchel on top of the neat wooden surface and right away, the blank brass nameplate attached to the desk began creaking.
As Victor's full name slowly etched itself into the shiny surface, he turned back towards the group and took a few springy steps closer, glad to be rid of the heavy bag.
"I was thinking about going to fetch some coffee, or maybe a spot of tea would be nice." he began, swooping in to save the day. "Either way, it sounds to me like everyone could use a cuppa'." He stepped forward, as it seems nobody else had any intention of going through the bother of fetching the refreshments.
The perfect start to his career at the London Ministry: Fetching the Coffee.

The first one that spoke to her, talking about his morning cleaning horse poo, seemed like a cool guy, Penelope decided. She laughed a little as he finished. "Sounds like you had an eventful morning." And she was actually a little curious about the rest, but at the same time...yeah, maybe not. So she wouldn't ask.
And then someone came in who she did actually know. Mo's sister. She smiled. "Thanks. So've you." Growing up just kinda happened to everyone after all. And mostly it was a good thing. Although it did feel a bit strange too. But in a good way.
Getting coffee for everyone though? Meh...she SUPPOSED she could, even if it wasn't actually a house rule. Maybe if they were getting it from the food court, she could grab something to eat too...
Her attention was averted from the coffee run for the moment though by the next guy, Simon, who seemed pretty nice. "Yeah, I am." A new trainee. Which was still really exciting to think about. "Thanks." And the next guy that introduced himself, Jory, was in the YATI program too apparently. Awesome.
It seemed the others who appeared to be new - including another girl that also seemed a bit familiar to Penelope - were quickly claiming an empty desk for themselves, so she moved to claim one too, setting her bag down on a random empty one. This one could be hers, she supposed.
And then one of the new guys was offering to do the coffee run. That was nice of him. "I'll come with you if you'd like some help." There would be quite a few cups to bring back after all, though of course magic could help carry them all if necessary.
"I'm Penelope Greenwell, by the way," she added since they were doing introductions too according to Simon.

Jake had always thought that being a Hit Wizard (well, an Auror, but he'd not ended up as one of those) would mean he would be excited to come to work every day. But, for reasons, it... never turned out like that. He'd never quite gotten used to working for the man, and in the last few years his career wanderlust had not settled at all. So coming to work for him was always one great big 'blaaaaah'. One more year, though. Just one more year.
Therrrrrre... was a lot of people in here this morning. More than usual? It sure felt like it. Jake looked around at them all as he skirted around the Auror and Security section to the MLES desks until he reached his own. Just checking. Making sure everything was still in order. And it was, so that was... good.
So... time to make people feel welcome, he guessed.
The Hit Wizard drummed his fingers on his desk once and doubled back to where everyone else was congregated. He sort of looked at everyone for a moment, particularly at any new people, before giving his incredibly valuable input.
"... Welcome."
It was too early, okay?

The new sprites were annoying Genevieve, which wasn't really their fault. It annoyed her they thought they were allowed desks, when she hadn't had one until her third year as a YATI. It bothered her they weren't hopping to getting coffee. That they didn't understand how lucky they were to be here, how hard their seniors had worked already. She was just bothered.
And bothered Genevieves were unpleasant.
She leaned back in her chair, boots propped up on her desk, and surveyed these recruits. Penelope looked scared out of her pants. The one who laughed about getting coffee, Tyler, he looked cocky. And the new girl had coffee already. AND GENEVIEVE HAD NONE. Unfair.
"Genevieve Branxton. Auror. Can we not play school anymore? Some of us actually work here."
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Simon had actually agreed? Jory had not actually thought a full Auror would want to team up with a YATI but he was wrong. Which was good. Now he had an opportunity to learn secrets pick up tips on how to be a successful Auror. "Great. Let me know whenever you want to start."
This new guy, Tyler. He seemed okay. "Nice to meet you, too, Tyler,'' Jory replied. This new guy (Victor) was going to get the coffee? Cue the raised eyebrow from Jory. Maybe he was a little amused too. But someone else already had coffee having brought their own so now he didn't care who got it.
"Hey, Penelope,'' the YATI said before his attention was turned to the other man (Jake). Hi.

Good, they were all finding a perch to begin with and not strugling with any traps set by current and previous owners of said desks. He nodded at Jory to tell the YATI he heard him in the midst of things and agreed further to the plan. "Nice to meet you, Penelope." As in officially since he had known her name before she had said it due to Emily's note and Genevieve's words."Well Victor here has a bit more freedom at the moment," he mused, knowing MLES was kinda on their own at the moment. "Josh here would technically make the decision on freeing you or not," he added glancing at his friend as he crossed his arms and leaned against his own desk.
Because the trainees might be needed to start their first day in another manner if the YATIL so choose of course.
Speaking of MLES, Victor had a fellow employee join him. One that Simon had seen around occasionally but never really had much interaction. Probably cause he seemed out of it or not all to forward and friendly. Well they'd get to know each other eventually. It wasn't the auror's job to run the little meet and greet that had essentially dropped into his lap. He had just been being nice.
As for job, Genevieve seemed to be a bit impatient as if forgetting what it was like during her own years. Seriously when had she gotten so...like that? "I already started work...what's your plan?" he commented to her with raised eyebrow. Technically he himself had already checked in with security downstairs and made sure that was running well so far AND had still beaten everyone else in and looked over files. She was an auror and could have begun her own work.

It was strange to think that before working in the MLE Legend hadn't so much as touched a cup of coffee. That practice was now thrown out the window. Sauntering into the office despite not having his morning cup of coffee as of yet, he felt wide awake. It probably had to do with the new position. Nothing to do with the money, but really everything to do with the new found responsibilities that he now held.
And TODAY was a day that he would surely enjoy; a day which welcomed new members of the MLE. It was always a good part of the new year.
The blond spoke to a few people - just Carlisle and Drakalski - before making his way over to the auror division.
As soon as he walked in his eyes darted from person to person. "Morning! Morning!" Simon. Josh. Vivi. Jake. Ahahhh. New people that were- .......

Good, she wasn't late. Because that would be bad form for her first day on the job. She took a moment to take in all the faces around her, recognizing one (Penelope) from Hogwarts. And then it seemed that it was her turn for introduction. "Sky Carter-Hope. Nice to meet you all." Had someone mentioned getting coffee for everyone? No one but her had brought there own coffee? Wasn't that some kind of breach of adult protocol or something?
And that Genevieve, she seemed like a real peach. Sky chose to ignore the grouch, however she did chuckle slightly at Simon's response. She was a YATI, therefore she was to wait for further instructions from their leader. Which person was that again? Or she could get a head start and go work on her skills like the noticeboard had said to, only she didn't really feel like doing that today.

Ooops...did he forget the desk Tyler claimed was really Legend's?
Snicker.
Nah, he just figured the YATI could learn something. Seeing as he had warned him to be wary of certain things. Like claimed desks that might not look claimed. Constant Vigilence. He could tease the trainees as well as the others. And Chosen could learn something too, seeing as you would have thought he'd have it spelled of all people in the department. "Morning," he returned to his fellow auror, his presence meaning the last of the division was in for the day.
"Nice to meet you too, Sky," he said with a nod of acknowledgement as the YATI joined the introductions. The young woman getting bonus points as he noticed her amusement towards his work comment. Now Simon decided to sit back down at his desk finally, ready for the rest of the day to begin. A quick glance at the area for the third division in the room notifying him that security was still out.

Tyler's eyes lingered on the blonde as she spoke. He wasn't really phased by her comment, because one...almost everyone at Durmstrang was like that and two...he lived with Piper and was friends or ex friends with Emilie. Not Phased and un-bothered was he.
And then a man..spoke to him..at least he thought he was speaking to him. Tyler looked behind him and then beside him..no one there.
"Why?" He asked casually. Why should he get up? He was comfortable.

Legend blinked, surprised that this was the way that the man wanted to start his first day. From what he could tell this one was arrogant, so this wouldn't be dull at all.
He looked over to his to Simon and smirked. Sorry Simon. It had been a fun time teasing and riling you up for years. But now Legend had a new target.
"Because it's your first day and i'm pretty sure no one said you could sit there? Because that's my desk. Because i'm also sure that no one said you could sit anywhere. Because you are one of the lowest ranking people in this office right now. And most of all because I said so." With THAT Legend's hand twitch and instantly the chair and the desk vanished from underneath Tyler Bellaire.

"I don't need anyone to tell me where to si--" There was a lot of stumbling but years of combat meant he caught his balance before his butt hit the ground. Legend did receive the legendary Bellaire glare, however as he composed himself.
"I don't care who you think you are..." Tyler straightened his suit and adjusted his cuffs..he even found time to smooth his hair back. "..But where I'm from that is not how people settle disputes. I would love to show how though." And he pocketed his hands because who needed a wand.

Genevieve very nearly bit Simon's head off. He was a condescending git even on a good day, and this fun little showing off time for the recruits was making him worse than usual. He would deserve a little showing up, but Genevieve was working hard on being a responsible adult. Not flying off the handle. Not abusing her power now that she had it.
So thank Merlin Legend showed up, because she was only able to be a responsible adult for so long. "So busy, Bennett. That must be nice for you." And that was it. She wasn't going to justify showing up for work on time just because some people showed up early.
"Bellaire. That's your Head. I suggest you let this one go." Legend earned himself a happy little grin... don't think for a moment that a promotion saved him from relentless Branxton persecution.

The dude was glaring at him.
He opened his mouth slightly but before any words to escape Genevieve spoke up.
Helpful that one was. His eyes flickered to her, and he grinned. Little Miss Auror seemed to know a thing or two. That didn't really surprise him though.
Turning his attention back to the man, Legend's smile vanished. "I don't think I am anyone." He paused and raised his hand to scratch his chin. "Just like Branxton said, I know I'm Legend Chosen. Head Auror of the MLE. He let that sink in for a bit. The title still sounded strange to him, but it was the truth. "I also know how we settle disputes here in the MLE. But there's no dispute here Mister Bellaire." Yes, he did know your name because he had went over the YATI files. "There is simply a silly little YETI, who can't follow orders and will be punished for it." Looking around the office, Legend raised his voice.
"I want all the Aurors and all the members of the Youth Auror Training Initiative to gather around right now." He didn't make his desk reappear either, Legend simply stood in the middle of the room, arms crossed.

Victor was quick to nod at Penelope with a smile when she offered to come with him on the coffee run. It had just occurred to him that he had been setting himself up for a dropped cup and a ruined suit by volunteering to go all by his lonesome. Plus, this would be a great ice-breaker!
"Lovely to meet you, Penelope." He beamed at the friendly young woman. He would have shook her hand, but he'd already decided that wou shaking the hand of everyone present would have been a huge bit of bother that hardly seemed fitting in a crowd, even if this was his first day with his new colleagues. He'd tried so hard to repress the polite habit of reaching for a handshake, and he wasn't about to mess up his streak. Maybe later.
With the exception of a couple of grumps, his co-workers all seemed like lovely people. In most places these days, making a desk vanish from underneath an employee would be frowned upon, but in Victor's experience, that sort of thing was almost a daily occurrence. If there was a man on earth who understood what Law Enforcement work can do to ones temper, it was Victor LaCroix.
He had been so prepared to go and fetch that coffee, even to the point of gesturing to Penelope for her to go first, but it seemed the head auror had arrived just in time to put a stopper in those plans. He took a step closer to his new desk, not wanting to be in the way. He gave the group a defeated shrug as he moved, and his eyes flashed a look that seemed to say'This is going to be a long day.'. He sat at his desk, still facing the group. In that moment, bereft of his morning coffee, the experienced officer had about him the familiar air of a child on his first day of school.
Baguette | there is no D in my name | TRAITORclaw | Queenie of Narnia
Penelope nodded at Simon when he pointed out Josh - which was probably the name of the horse guy, Penelope assumed - would have to say whether they had to stay or go for the coffee. Well, okay, that was alright with her. Everyone else who entered and/or replied and introduced themselves also got a nod too, though Mo's sister seemed to be grumpier than Penelope remembered.
And then things got interesting.
Apparently the other YATI guy had been sitting on the Head Auror's desk - who had an interesting name, by the way. And things spiraled a bit from there and now they were supposed to gather round.
So Penelope did, taking a few more steps closer though she was already amongst the group. But no need to make it seem like she wasn't listening because she was definitely paying attention. Full attention on Head Auror man.

And the new YATI was going to try and take it to the next level. Remaining stubborn and unyielding on his first day at work without any realization that he just might be talking to his boss. The kid was in for a rude awakening and Legend didn't disappoint with the vanishing of his own desk and chair. Simon even caught the glance in his own direction and mental tried to decipher the meaning behind it and the smirk that went with it.
But for now perhaps Tyler would react just a bit differently, at least today, especially as both Genevieve and Legend pointed out the dirty blonde's new position. Sigh. Tomorrow likely would be a whole another story. As his fellow auror called out for the division to gather round, Simon remained where he was at his desk, already well in the thick of things.
Good ahead, Chosen. Try not to be too obnoxious in your new job.
Frangelina || twitter addict || Music of the Sun || The Fresh Princess of Bellaire
Tyler scoffed audibly. He knew what he was and he was not little, nor was he silly. But Mr. I'm a Big Shot was enjoying his big boy briefs so he let that go.
Did he understand the saying, that one had to give respect to get it? Head auror would get none from him..point..blank..period. He let it go for now though because as his mom would say, 'there was more than one way to skin a cat'.
"It would have served you better to have said that." Arrogant git. Hmph. Tyler stood where he was, because he was close enough anyways.

Genevieve slid her chair out from behind her desk so that she was close enough to be part of the group. It was odd that Simon was so eager to prove he was working harder than everyone else, but he refused to gather when the boss called for gathering? Merlin, boys could be so drama.
She propped her boots up on Victor's desk, since he was right there and all, and gave the man a mischievous grin. "Hi. Nice desk you have here. Right in the middle of things. Mind if I put my feet on it? Have you tried the coffee from Level 1? I think it's probably the best in the building, but then anything is better than the sludge they serve here on 2."

"It would have served you better to shut your mouth." Okay Bellaire? Cool.
Well, he had waited long enough. Legend didn't have time for those people who straggling behind because there was not enough time in the working day to be honest. And to those people who didn't even want to get up? That was on them. Legend wasn't a babysitter. Sometimes he could barely look after himself.
"Good morning, Happy New Year and all of that. And to those who are new welcome to the MLE." His eyes even flickered to the new guy at a desk. He wasn't an Auror but SUP, welcome to you too. "I really don't want to waste any more time so i'll make this short and sweet. Thinks are going to be changing. For the better hopefully." He gazed around at his coworkers, wondering how they would feel about all this. "I believe that in the past few years our team mentality has been lacking. And we're going to fix that. Starting now." But they weren't going to be playing any random team hand holding games because Legend wasn't about that life.
"It's all good to want to better yourself. But making the team should be at the front of your thoughts as well.It doesn't matter how good you are at your work, if someone in our division is crap at one thing, and you don't try to help them. We're all crap at that one thing. One person makes a mistake we all make a mistake" Did he even make sense? He hoped he did.
He also wanted to bring a table filled with food here every morning, but for some reason he didn't think Emily would agree with that change.
Legend reached up and scratched his head. "With all that said, I need a volunteer Auror to check out Diagon Alley, speak to some of the shopkeepers make sure nothing is out of the ordinary. You can go in pairs if you want too." He shrugged. Didn't really matter to him.
"As for you YATI's, you all already have one strike on you. Thanks to Mister Bellaire. Do not expect to be getting desks or even chairs for that matter because you have lost that privilege. Jory- you have lost your desk as well." He didn't think the third year YATI would be happy about any of that, but too bad. "Let me remind you, that none of you have jobs here. You are not garuenteed a job here until after your completed three years and even then we can deny you. You new three were not hired for your skills." he raised his hands, air quoting the words. "You have no skills. You were hired for your potential and your ability to learn. So learn quickly. Anything Emily says to you is law. Anything I say to you is law. Anything Josh- your YATI Leader says to you is law. Anything any of the Aurors say to you is law. Unless you can effectively argue your point, to why we are wrong." Because they DID get a chance. IF they knew what they were talking about. "And if you don't like it, there's the door. You can leave. We won't be missing you."
Legend let it all sink in for a while before clearing his throat. "I'm done speaking. YATI's meet me in Courtroom Seven in 5 minutes. Josh you too yeah?" Good talk. Good talk.
Where was the coffee?

The more Jake stood here, the more Jake realised that... he didn't want to be stood here. He was internally huffing and puffing to himself about THINGS and STUFF, though on the outside looked just as 'blah' as he always did. He looked around the group, aware that somewhere here was someone new to his own department, a Victor something-or-other. Jake couldn't remember; words were hard.
Anyway, where was the dude? The guy? The dudeguy?
Jake was already moving away and halfway back to his desk when Legend started calling for the Aurors to gather around. He wasn't one of those (which now seemed like a blessing in disguise; Jake wasn't sure he'd ever be able to take Legend seriously or be all that civil if the guy was his boss) so, y'know, he'd just leave 'em to it.
And THAT was when he spotted him, the new guy. It was easy enough to work out because, well... new face at the MLES desks and all. AND, now that the Auror type people were all preoccupied... apart from that Branxton girl... Jake was far more willing to strike up a conversation.
"Hi," he said to the bloke in his still-strong London accent, offering a small, but nonetheless welcoming, smile and holding out his hand. For a handshake. Because that was the thing to do. "Name's Jake. Hit Wizard. You're new here."
It wasn't a question, just a very straightforward observation. His way of greeting people, and being welcoming. Genevieve got... a nod AND a little smile as well. Hi.

Things were happening. A lot of things. This new YATI had lots of guts and attitude taking on the boss man like that. But Jory's face remained neutral through it all. Just staying out of matters here...
Eh, WHAT? No desk?! Where was he supposed to work then? Jory shot a look at Tyler. All the new guy's fault. And they had to suffer. So unfair. But there was nothing else he could do. Except be at the Courtroom soon. At least that would help take his mind off things for a bit.
