Good oh goodie, Luc thought to himself as he read about a meeting. Another being on his choice for visiting the nearest facility. That notice wasn't there for too long...was it?
Such thought came as Luc shuffled his long legs through their section to the sight of Emily with his peeps.. "..Hello." Taking an empty seat. He didn't miss anything or much, hopefully.

Reaching up, he rubbed his neck and then pulled his hand forward through his hair, leaving it a right mess. "I know...and I'm sorry. It just....happened for me, Lex. I can't say I intended it. It just...kinda...grew." Did that make sense? He winced, remembering how that line of conversation went the first time. "I didn't....don't expect you to return it. Just thought...I might have been enough."
At this, he spared her a small, playful smile. "You know I think a lot of myself." And she'd always been able to knock his pride back a peg or two.
The more he spoke was the more this was starting to sound a lot like another conversation she'd had back in her Fourth Year of Hogwarts. That conversation had been going grand until it got to this part--because there had been a this part back then too, only difference was that explanation had been coming from her. She'd been the one having to explain she didn't mean to have feelings that weren't wanted by either party.
"I know how that works, really." To an extent at least. She'd never fallen in full blown love with anyone (nor did she wish to) but she had found herself in the unfortunate position of developing feelings for her bestfriend.
Rhydian's words...were the exact words she'd written, the exact ones she'd felt and it had her growing quiet for a long time because she DID know, first hand and didn't ever want to know ever again. He was making her feel worse about this whole thing. Having gone through it all, she should have approached it with more sensitivity than what she'd shown.
"You shouldn't think like that...don't...try to be enough for me." She'd never been raised to know that sentiment; nothing was ever enough. "It's....I...there's no 'enough' if I'm not looking for a limit. Wasn't made for............love."
And then the boss lady happened.

She knew did she? Strange. Somehow he didn't see that sentiment coming from her. Ever. Then again, it did sort of explain a few things.
As did that last statement of hers. The one that knocked his pride back a few more pegs. Who knew, maybe it needed it. He'd figure that out later, after he got over the bruising from it. He even took to rubbing at his shoulder, as if she had physically knocked him.
"Gosh Lex....."
And then there was that. That being that woman that strode into their conversation as if she was the producer, director and manager of the stage play of their lives. Rhydian's attention turned round, and before he even really knew what that was, there was a right bit of dribble coming from his mouth. "Bit of an obvio--oh."
Oh that was. That was. Rhydian took from rubbing his shoulder to tapping his brain. Who was that? He'd seen her about. Someone important. Status....Lex's red face....talk about it .......
Z.O.M.G.
Seriously. Seriously?! Talk about Murphy's Law! Merlin!
Rhydian was pretty sure that his own face turned a shade or two closer to Lex's. "Oh hiyo boss."
Yup. That was her. He remembered now. Conversation later, yes. Most definitely. And oh wasn't that brilliant? More people too? Seriously, where did they all come from? Maybe this was Lex's way of getting him to drop the matter entirely, though judging by her expression that was hardly the case. Unanticipated and unwanted. Well, no sense in making a scene.
So, given he was already sitting, he remained sitting. Quite comfortably too. Physically that was. Mentally was another story. Stretching his legs out, and hooking one foot over the other he tried to shift his attention to work. Truth was, all he really heard was furry Russian elves.

Penelope was so ready for this. It was a new year and she was OFFICIALLY an Auror now. And it was ridiculously exciting. It'd probably take at least a few weeks before the exciting newness wore off, but until then, she was going to come to work extra early each day, genuinely looking forward to whatever tasks she'd need to do.
Having seen the memo for a meeting in the Auror Office, she headed for that area, only to find quite a few already there, including Boss Lady. Hm? Had they started early or...? "G'morning," she greeted them before taking a seat as well.

"G'day." He mumbled as he made his way into the office and took a seat. Seemed he was late since Emily had already started with the YATIs.
She was perfectly content with watching the faces of the YATI turn red, but company for the show was appreciated also. And would you look at that, the next to join the party was none other than Bellaire, of qualified Auror status. "Morning," she returned the greeting... minus the g' in front of it.

And in close succession was the YATI whom she wasn't responsible for hiring. "Mr. Auditore," she greeted, watching as he was quick to take a seat.
Good, the team was assembling...
Almost.

And once the egg was wiped from their face, so to speak, it seemed the YATI had some redeeming qualities, or at least... Cambridge did, Blackhold was yet to prove himself useful in her eyes... the memory of the man standing on his chair and twirling came to mind. Circe.
Cambridge's assessment of the situation in the Alley earned a singular approving nod. A job well done. "So we act," she confirmed. After going over the files Rainey left behind there was no doubt that action needed to be taken, and the opportune moment was fast approaching. "We'll work for the fifteenth, but keep communications open in case their plans change, in the meantime, put together the taskforce for the bust and utilise the hit wizards to make up numbers should we need to." She paused here before continuing. "We need evidence of the transaction before we make the sweep, but we also need to contain the situation... I don't want to hear we've let anybody slip through the cracks."
But more to the point, the inventory... "How great should we expect the shipment to be?"
And by all means, meetings were meant for collaboration, so the other parties were welcome to raise their own questions.

Her ears had sort of gone into shock and Lex had to take a moment--brief moment, honestly, she was composed, totally composed, sorta--to check whether Legend and Vivi were in the room and Emily was instead talking to them.
Put together the taskforce for the bust? Involve the Hit Wizards? Her? KEEP CALM CAMBRIDGE. No need to look eager, she might change her mind.
Lex gave a simple nod, the faint hints of a smile being the only thing she couldn't control. Rainey told her to hand it all over to Legend and Vivi, Emily was shaping up to be an even better boss than she thought. "I'll get right on that after we're done here." Did that make this her call? Was she bouncing around in her head having completely forgotten anything before Emily started talking.......maybe.
How much? "We're looking at 5...8 cages at most. It's something of a low key operation from what I understand. Been sliding under the table for years." Easily overlooked especially with how infrequently they did this. "With them caged, the hardest part will naturally be apprehension on both ends." The buyer and the seller, naturally. "Confiscation....er....rescuing...." What were they doing with the werewolves exactly, "is already half done with them in cages like they'll be."

Right. Russian fury elves meant werewolves in cages in Knocturn Alley. Things were clicking into place, albeit slowly. He'd heard a sparse bit about the case from Lex earlier, but didn't know much. This information was relatively new, and thus important and he should probably focus.
Thing was, it was hard to focus when one's mind was taking off in about five different directions. He blamed that particular phenomenon for the words that dribbled out of his mouth next.
"Would you need a wolf?" It was only in the echo of those words, rattling around the space that was between his ears, that he realized how out of context that sounded. Then, it was a matter of his tongue trying to play catch-up with his brain. "What I mean is would you need a distraction, or diversion or a .... perimeter support .... or containment support....like...a wolf? Given they are after, wolf-like creatures?" Ahem.
Clearly, planning was not always his strong suit. He raised his hand and pointed it dumbly at his own head. "Wolf animigus, here if you need it."
Right, now he was going to go back to listening. That was probably for the best, yes?

There was something about this one that reminded her of herself. At least she was a live one, very involved, and for the most part what she heard was sound. It wouldn't hurt to let the YATI flex her muscles and put into practice her studies and training... under close supervision at least.
Were the actual Aurors in the room listening to this? "Keep me updated," was all she had to say regarding that for the time being. She wouldn't be handing out praise until praise was earned.
Furthermore, she nod her understanding, considering Cambridge's intel. Five or eight was still a significant shipment, despite it being low key. How it had gone under the radar for so long made her sick. Low key was low key, but it was still a crime in her own city. So the buyers and sellers, of course, naturally. "Do we know if they've been operating with reinforcements in the past?" Being outnumbered wasn't necessarily the concern, but if henchmen were involved then she would want to know who and how many where possible.
The girl was right though, part of the task would be managed for them.
...
And then there was Blackhold.
SPOILER!!: Ohhhh Rhydian

Beg her pardon?
Wolf?
A stern eyebrow was sufficient enough a means of reply, but as the YATI continued, Emily couldn't help but think he had a death wish.
"They're after werewolves, Blackhold, not wolves... there's a distinct difference and I'm confident a wolf would not be a smart distraction or diversion. Regardless, we shouldn't be relying on such poor tactics for apprehension, and the last thing I need is to have to explain to the press how I let a training Auror in the form of a canine prance down Knockturn Alley only to meet his death...."
Was that too harsh? Perhaps. Though she wasn't going to mollycoddle him.
"There's a time and a place to use your animagus training, save it for a rainy day."
...
But so back to their meeting.
"I want someone to alert Magical Creatures, I'm sure they would appreciate a heads up regarding the issue, it's my understanding that werewolves are the flavour of the month. Also, someone may want to check in with transportation, see if we can't restrict apparition and portkey exits on the day." She was happy to leave IMC out of the loop for the time being. "Greenwell, perhaps you could take Blackhold with you for one of these tasks, and Bellaire, have your pick of the YATI's also. Cambridge, give Chosen and James a run-down of what we've just discussed when they get back."
But otherwise... she was confident they were more or less ready to get back to work.
"Was there anything else?"
Other concerns, or issues, related or not. Voice them now or she was off.

Speaking of James... being back... she was. Officially. And it was awful. The babies hadn't even cried, but Vivi had sobbed all the way to the loo into the Ministry, and then she'd had to go back because she'd left her wand, and then the babies WERE crying when she went back, and then... she was at work.
She should have brought the babies in today, made Legend watch them. Made Lex watch them, even if it meant putting tiny helmets on them again. Anything but leave them with someone else. Wasn't she the one who was so eager to get back to the job just last week?
"Who's decided my desk is a filing cabinet? You knew I was only gone for three..." Vivi launched in as soon as she saw the mess that her desk had become, only realizing a moment too late that boss man was having a meeting. Boss WOman, that is. "Welcome back, Browne. In spite of being late, I'm up to speed." Legend was a better boss!friend than she deserved.

Stepping into the office Legend stopped his old...friend..type person....boss right away. LOOOK IT! He knew she was coming back but here in the FLESH his original hater!
Squinting he stared at her for a bit, as if trying to decide on something.
Yeah....it would be a bad idea. Very bad idea. Supper BAD idea.....
The thirty year old man-child-child-man-head-auror person was okay with that. Walking over to her, he ignored everyone else in the office (even pregnant Vivi who was no longer pregnant) and wrapped her in a quick hug. Quick. Hem. Letting go of her quickly he shuffled over away to his desk before he got hexed. "Cambridge, over here." Legend called loudly, as if noooooothing had just happened at all.

Oooooookay?
Tyler rolled up his sleeves and eyed the late comers, who didn't come in very subtly either. In fact they were distracting. Luckily enough the meeting was over and he was very glad to get away from the hug fests and welcome back. What was this first day of school?
He nodded at Emily when she instructed for him to choose a YATI and went over the list of those available to him.
He'd like one that wasn't very talkative...one he could forget was around...
"Alright boss, I guess I'll talk transportation." He eased out of his eat easily and made for the exit.

Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
And another nod. Of course she'd be keeping the Boss Lady up to speed on everything as it happened. She was on top of things. SHE HAD THIS. "Zero reinforcement. Apparently they didn't think they needed it, not with how smoothly things have been going and how under the table it has been. Easy in easy out and repeat." Clearly these blokes needed a dose of the paranoia that run around the MLE on any given day.
Her gaze shifted back to Rhydian for the first time since Emily walked in but it had nothing to do with anything said earlier, it was just his suggestion--rather, his death wish. Wolves didn't walk around Knockturn Alley, she'd been there enough times to know. Poor guy would stick out like a sore thumb and while that seemed to be his mode of operation in most areas of his life, it wouldn't be such a great idea here. If nothing else, it'd give them more work to do so naturally she was siding with Emily on this one.
Speaking of the boss, Lex's focus shifted yet again. Bellaire got a 'pick of the YATI'? Seriously? Was it bad she pretended not to hear anything but the instructions set out for her? Sure she could check in on Creatures of Transportation if needed but not UNDER an Auror. There were only so many people she could be subordinate to before they got to thinking she started giving them the idea she was unruly and unfit to be an Auror herself. Emily. Legend. Vivi. Done.
AND THERE WAS VIVI NOW!!!!!! She missed her. It was decidedly really weird not having Vivi around the office even if she now had little ankle biters to take care of and even if she did make it a habit to visit her occasionally when she found the time. Were she not standing so far away, she might have been latched onto....in a similar way that Legend just did with Emily..................right.
Having nothing else to add herself, Lex simply made her way over to the Head Auror. They could all pretend it didn't happen in the same way they pretended that conversation with Rhydian didn't happen earlier. Good stuff.

Alright. So that was a no. Most definitely a no. An easier no to swallow than some of the ones he'd heard before. But still a no. Definite, big, bold coming with serious looks and tone.
Rhydian just managed to bite down on his tongue, to refrain from putting out there that of course it was silly and he was just making the new-old department head was up to snuff on common sense. Of course that hadn't been his reasoning for offering, but it would potentially give him a bit of his decency back.
Or then, maybe not. Not with the way he'd been managing to mince his words lately. Perhaps it was simply better to nod, seriously, with a tight-lipped expression of serious-seriousness. Never mind the bit of red that flecked his cheeks and ears in embarrassment.
He would just...look...busy with...yeah a nod. A nod of acknowledgement was all that was needed. Ahem.
The moment of their dismissal couldn't come sooner, and given he had nothing to add, it was finally here. But, apparently what he really wanted to do with that freedom would have to wait. He watched Lex move over to the big guns of the MLE, one who thought it was a good idea to hug the department head (brave soul and good on him) before turning to the one and only Greenwell.
Poor thing. "Well, guess we're buddies?" Not partners though. No, he didn't intend to replace his. "Ur...what do you need me to do?"

Well, all-righty then. Luc just observed things going on with the hugs and the important discussion during this meeting. It was so interesting but.. hm.. where did that leave him now that it was over? As it was just him, the wolf-dude and Greenwell.. assumming they let him tag, of course.
"So.. Magical Creatures dept. then?" Whether he was free to go there or.. somewhere else important was fine and dandy with Luc.

Merlin.
Babies.
How James did it, she wasn't sure... but the girl ought to be commended on even turning up to work at this stage, and up to speed too, "And welcome back to you too," she replied kindly, though certainly the paperwork on the Aurors desk ought to be dealt with. She wasn't a fan of bureaucracy, but there was little they could do about that at the moment.

"Cambridge, over here." Legend called loudly, as if noooooothing had just happened at all.
.... and she had been about to say that the meeting was over, seeing as there was little more in the way of discussion, but then the source of the pause - being the entrance of Legend Chosen - was made evident to her....
He was hugging her. Albeit, it was brief, but it was still a hug. Arms had been around her, and so all she could do was stare blankly at the Head Auror. Now, why had she given him that promotion? There may have been a small change in her expression, if anyone were even to notice, but she would not openly condone the gesture. At this stage she was pleased that Carter was out of office, she didn't need nor want to be sandwiched between the two.
"Chosen, it's always so good to see you..." there was a slight sarcastic edge to her tone, but for the most part it wasn't scathing. They could catch up later.
What piqued her as curious was his summons to Cambridge, at least the YATI wasn't running rampant, not that she was doing a bad job of it though.
SPOILER!!: Tyler

He nodded at Emily when she instructed for him to choose a YATI and went over the list of those available to him.
He'd like one that wasn't very talkative...one he could forget was around...
"Alright boss, I guess I'll talk transportation." He eased out of his eat easily and made for the exit.
On the ball, brownie points for Bellaire. "Excellent, thank you," she replied as she watched him depart... though, was he not taking a YATI with him? She'd send one or two after him then... like lost puppies trying to catch up.
SPOILER!!: Lex

Clearly these blokes needed a dose of the paranoia that run around the MLE on any given day.
Good stuff.
No reinforcements, well that made it less challenging... a bit of a shame, but it worked in their favour regardless.
"Good, I'll leave you to it then," was her parting comment on that, and at this stage she pushed herself off the corner of the desk she was perched on.
SPOILER!!: Rhydian

"I suggest a visit to creatures..." as in, both of them... which brought her back to the other point...

"Actually, could I please get you to catch up with Bellaire?... shadow him for a short while and speak with the Transportation people."
It had been posed as a question, but it was an order, Bellaire didn't have the authority to shrug off half of her instructions, despite his enthusiasm in getting back to work. Commendable, but hardly dependable.
And with that done, she had other meetings she needed to attend. "Keep me updated, I'll be around later to check our progress." And by 'later' that didn't mean today. Department Heads were busy, didn't they know?
With a last nod to those gathered, Emily turned on her heel and made her way over to the MMAO.

Follow Bellaire. Okie Doke. "Yes Sir-Ma'am Boss." Luc replied with a salute, now with a new extra pep in his step. He knew he wouldn't have been asked something unless it was major important, making him accept it as an order. So with that order, Luc quickly turned after getting up with the others to head towards the Transportation Department to catch up with Tyler.
Uh oh.. where did he go? Long legs don't fail him at reaching the elevator.
With Galen's Animagus registration process done and out of the way he headed towards the security offices to start his day it was a very different environment than his previous job at the bank had been but he welcomed the differences. He glanced around to see if he could spot his desk among the many that filled the office. finally he spotted his name Galen T. Ashworth on one of the name plates. He sat at his desk, picked up some of the papers that were already waiting for him there and looked them over.

It was a little upsetting to get barely a nod from her Baby Lion, her favorite boss, AND Legend, although Vivi was prone to being upset at the moment and decided not to take it personally. Or do anything rash, like lighting someone on fire. The papers on her desk, however... those weren't going to last more than an hour.
She settled herself on the corner and made quick work of the inbox/outbox/trashcan filing system. Warrants were kept, files went back in the cabinet, and whoever was leaving takeout receipts on her desk was going to hear about it. From her. Loudly.
"Legend. I'm ready for field work again, and I want a baby YATI of my own. Make it happen, and I promise never to explain to you what 22 hours of labor is really like." Not that she would, but it was one of those threats that made most men squirmy. And Vivi loved it when Legend was squirmy.

Interesting stuff, this thing about these Russian wizards bringing in werewolves to Knockturn Alley. Interesting in a bad way, obviously, since it was illegal. Penelope simply listened through the whole discussion, not having much to add, although she did raise an eyebrow briefly in amusement when Legend appeared out of nowhere to hug the Boss Lady. She must've been in a good mood too since nothing happened to him because of it, which was a good thing since Penelope liked him.
And now it was over, and tasks were being handed out. Blackhold was assigned as her partner for now too. That was alright though. He didn't seem too bad.
"Seems so," she replied with a smile. Buddies, partners, whatever you wanted to call it. And Boss Lady suggested they visit the Creatures department, which was the only task left anyway, so. "Let's head on down to level 4 then." Should be interesting. She'd never gotten to go into that one much before, aside from that pet day event.
She turned and headed for the door, assuming he'd follow.

After reading over much of the paperwork he had found on his desk. Galen quickly realized it was much of the same first day new employee documentation papers as any other job required only more of it. Policies, insurance, retirement options. It was the typical tedious required paperwork of every new job. With the last of the papers read over Galen signed and initialed all the proper places and and placed them in the out going bin on his desk.

Just like he had planned, Simon had finished up downstairs in the atrium before heading to the main office. Now to find the new employee he supposedly had that the only thing he knew about was position and gender. The security man had dug through his memory on the lifts to see if he remembered about someone in the security division specifically but he seemed to be drawing a blank.
But to his luck, there was an unfamiliar man seated in the division area that could only be the one he was looking for. And look...already into the paperwork he saw. "Excuse me...would you happen to be the new event security liaison officer?" he asked, wanting to make sure instead of simply assume. The parchment directly on top currently showed no clue.

Clearly he had finished just in time it appeared, because someone had entered the office and by the look of it was making his way towards Galen's desk. Galen's suspicion was confirmed when the man stopped in front of his desk and spoke. Galen stood up and extended his hand when asked if he was the new security officer. That would be correct, Galen Ashworth," he introduced himself.

Simon watched as the other man stood up and offered his hand to him, the auror turned security man accepting it and giving a polite shake. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Ashworth," he said with a nod of acceptance. "I'm Simon Bennett, the acting head of Security," he introduced, deciding not to include that it was such a new position for him. The better to give his companion a sense of stability within the division and not be concerned about the leadership. Too much. The whole acting part did enough.
"I see you've dived into the paperwork," he mused, having noted the papers that were placed in the outbox on the man's desk. "Was there any questions you had?" They could start with that part of the job for the first day.

When Simon introduced himself as the acting head couldn't help but wonder about the details behind the temporary title. But he didn't stress the point Simon seemed confident with the title so Galen decided to chalk it up as the previous head had reached retirement or perhaps on a vacation. It mattered not at the moment.
" Yes well, I figured I would get as much of it out of the way as I could while I had a few minutes." Galen answered. Right now, Um.only question I got is there anything you got for me that can get me out from behind this desk for a bit?" It wasn't that Galen had a problem with parking at a desk for the day if that was required from him he'd be glad to do it. But with all that time consuming legal paperwork he had just finished for the personnel office he needed to move around a bit.
Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna
"Well it is always good to get ahead of the paperwork," he remarked with a chuckle. "You'll be amazed at how fast it develops." And how much time you could spend on it when you weren't otherwise busy in any number of other tasks and duties needed to be done. The initiative didn't hurt on his first day at a new job.
As for the question Galen had placed before him, it was one that Simon could certainly answer with ease. "As for getting you away from the desk, I can surely show you around the depths of the Ministry," he offered, figuring he needed to anyway, the man just lead him right to it with his inquiry. "Aside from your duties surrounding special events, you'll be expected to handle rounds like the rest of the division."
