Election EraAll historical records pertaining to Ministry of Magic RPG under Ministers for Magic, Sherman Clark [IC January 2086 - December 2089; OOC February 2015 - June 2016] & Althea Scabior [IC January 2090 - December 2093; OOC February 2016 - June 2017]
Long tables have been set up in the Atrium just outside the food court, completely covered in a variety of plants. A banner is affixed to the front, proclaiming a plant adoption day and encouraging all employees to take one with them. Employees from the Department of Environmental Regulation and Protection stand ready to assist you in whatever way possible.
In front of each cluster of plants - conveniently labeled 'Hard to Kill' and 'For Green Thumbs' - are small piles of care instructions as well as teeny certificates of adoption for anyone who feels the need to name their new friend. All the plants have been carefully cultivated by DERP employees for this particular event. Thanks to the Climate Controllers and our Ministry Maintenance staff for making sure the Ministry is a hospitable place for plant life.

At the end of one of the tables is another banner, simply reading Join the GREEN TEAM! with two clipboards hanging beneath it. Add your name and help make events like this a more permanent part of the Ministry.

It was finally here. Wiping her brow with the back of her hand, Emmalee surveyed the tables and glanced at the clock. Workers were already straggling in, but she assumed the biggest rushes would be right at the beginning of the day and during lunch, when people wandered by. Her team had worked hard, and it showed.
Idly stroking one of the flitterbloom samples, she reminded herself to thank Alex again for the idea. The event had certainly grown bigger than the (noticeably pregnant) Head had expected. Perhaps it was time to discuss additional responsibilities...
Looking up, she smiled at coworkers coming by. Anyone need a plant?

Adopting was becoming a hobby. First he had taken under his wing that bat Bruce (without his wife's permission, of course, but he PEELED ORANGES— how could someone not love that?), and now Sherman was going to bring a lil' baby plant home. This was what happened when your grandchild moved out, it seemed. A descent into the collection habits of the elderly used to fill the void of loneliness. Of course, he'd pass it off as just supporting his employees' endeavors! Ahem.
Glancing over the plant listing, he immediately decided on one and wheeled over to the pregnant Department Head. That was a stomach, that was.
"Ms. Howell! Lovely set up you have here. Everything looks wonderful." Beautiful and vibrant and lively, just like the little buds that greened the Atrium that day. "I'd love to adopt some Snow Drops." Memory aid and old people, plus he liked a challenge.

Harmony couldn't think of a better way to start her morning than stopping by the atrium to adopt a plant! Promoted productivity and lessened stress, according to studies she'd read. Plus they were so lovely to look at, which didn't hurt. Speaking of lovely, the red head simply beamed when she spotted the various plant options set out for the ministry workers to choose from. Organized by experience with plants, too? Seemed Emmalee and her lot had thought of everything. Yes, the vibes were all positive here.
"Helloooo," The creatures department head greeted those present, including the adorable minister, in a sing-song voice. "I just have to say, this was an excellent idea!"
Lynley hoped there were some aquatic plant choices...for her jellies? Their tank was a little barren as of right now. The department head arrived at the adoption to see the extremely big pregnant Emmalee Howell...Merlin. Child carrying would never cease to weird her out.
"How is it going, Emmalee?" she asked casually as she glanced around at the plant options. OOOH! They did have an aquatic choice! Java moss! She would being getting one of those, yes.
"Harmony...Minister Clark..." had she said she'd call him Sherman? Lynley had forgotten. Ah, well.
A Green Team? Lynley would certainly be signing up for that--she noticed the clipboard and took the quill to sign up IMMEDIATELY. Lynley Purcell was all about conserving and whatnot.
"Looking chipper today, Harmony." Chipper and...interestingly clothed, that was for sure.

Simon wasn't entirely sure of what to make of the plant adoption event that was taking over the atrium for the day. It seemed innocent enough, though the auror turned security officer was one of those that still remembered the cause of the wood-eating plague that had graced the ministry several years back. It had been a plan brought into the building easily and innocently and cause a ton of havoc, including friends acting all weird and disturbed.
So while he was keeping an eye on his atrium like any normal day in the life of his job, the man was also being on the look out for anything odd among the special activities. "Good day..." he greeted as he made his way to the tables. "Minister..." A nod of acknowledgment given in turn to the man and the three department heads also there in the mix. Was he the only non-leader there looking into things as of yet.

"HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOoooOOOOoooOOOOOo!! " The youngest of the Crawford clan echoed through the room. Much professional, yes. Much adult. To be honest, she totally squealed when she saw the flyer. Her office was kinda...glum. She couldn't really have the curtains open. But, a plant! A plant would cheer up the room a bit! Fallon walked up to a table with bouncy steps. "I'd like to take one of these fellas home! OOH! OOH! THAT CUTE ONE! The Java Moss!" She'd cuddle it if she could.

It was a splendid morning. Jenny just had her daily dose of tea, put on her favorite berry flavored lipstick and now she was at the Ministry's Atrium to adopt a baby! Well, a baby plant that is. She even wore something flower-y to commemorate how excited she was for the event. Probably what happens to most people when they move to a new place without knowing anyone except for a fiancee that's barely there. Naahh, she shouldn't be thinking that way. The fiancee was just busy. And for their future too.
Speaking of, Jenny could really see a great future with those honking daffodils over there. Certainly going to be useful when she snoozes off during work hours. Haha.
Oops. Miss Department Head was there. Shouldn't be thinking about worktime-naptimes, eh? Going to be real bad if she's able to read minds. "Hello, Miss Purcell." Smile! The Minister was also here. He probably didn't know her, but she knew him. 'Course, he was the Minister. "Good day, Minister Clark." The same goes for the other people who she really haven't got acquainted to. Yet. But wait...was that? Yep, that was a ball very pregnant someone. She looked to be the one in charge of filing the adoption papers. Miss Howell, was it? "Hi, Miss Howell. I'd like to adopt a plant."

Emmalee was delighted to see the Minister approaching and smiled warmly. "Minister Clark, I'm so glad you were able to come by," she said brightly from her position behind the table. Red hair tied up in a bun, Emmalee scanned the table visually as he spoke.
"Snow drops are an excellent choice," she said, picking out a particularly lovely specimen and handing it over with the care instructions. "There are adoption certificates if you care to grab one. And I wonder... would you like to say something to the folks who are gathering?" Ministerial... encouragement could help with Green Team recruitment.

The women could handle themselves, yes? "Let me know if you have any questions."

Ah yes...it was still early.
Law Enforcement, was it? Emmalee watched the man as he came by the tables, anticipating some.. curiosity or concern on his part. After all, as a Department Head Emmalee had read the files. All sorts of nonsense happened here when things came in from outside. Plus they'd been awfully snoopy last year. Perhaps that was happening again.
"We grew them here. Completely safe, I assure you," she said, looking over to the man. "You should take one for the security offices."

SQUEE.
Emmalee nodded. "Well, step right up, then, Ms...?" Emmalee focused her attention on the young woman, wondering what sort of plant she was looking to take home. Hand rested, almost unconsciously, on her stomach, she addressed the woman. "We have a few different kinds. Tell me, how familiar are you with plant care?"

"...Villaruel." Jenny prompted. Beaming. It seemed that the lady was a very pretty pregnant up close. The kind which would make you want to be pregnant too just to have a glow like that. Jenny almost didn't catch the question she was being asked because of how she marveled at the pregnant and her round tummy. "Yes. You actually have so many. My mother would be jealous." And these were not even half of them, right? "This is not actually a specialty of mine. But because my mother is a self-proclaimed green thumb I've come to take a liking to plants. Even so, I would probably need directions on how to nurture my very own baby plant.

Emmalee nodded, listening to the woman as she spoke, and gestured for her to follow her down to one end of the table. "Well, for a novice, I'd recommend one of these two options," she said, gesturing to the aquariums on her left and the terra cotta pots on her right. "The Java Moss is pretty much self-sustaining, and if you wanted to, with your Head's permission if you were planning to keep it at work, you could add some small fish. For a drier option, these succulents need very little tending. Water, then wait for the soil to dry out completely before watering again."
Looking up, she wondered what the woman would pick. The flitterbloom and snow drops were certainly also options if there was desire for a challenge or some help from mom, but Emmalee seemed to think that Ms. Villaruel was looking for a plant to tend on her own.

The Plant Adoption Event was finally here. And looked at that beautiful plants that prepared by their department.
"Hello Ms. Howell." Basti gave the boss lady a curt nod. And look people were coming in. And wasn't that the new Minister of Magic? "Good day, Minister Clark."
The Oceanologist went to stand behind one of the Java Moss sample since water plants were his specialty so he just gonna stand there just incase someone want to adopted this beautiful baby. He heard the Boss Lady explained how to tend the Java Moss to one of the Ministry worker. And it looked like someone else already set their eyes for the Java Moss, Basti couldn't help but chuckled at the bouncing lady.

After grabbing a quick bite for lunch, the junior dragonologist made his way back to the Ministry...and his attention was diverted to the group of people that were gathered around a humble corner in the Atrium. Must be the plant adoption thing, yes? He didn’t miss the memo, and thought maybe adopting a mundane one would spruce up his desk somehow. He was rather getting bored of seeing different dragon parts encased in clear jars, day in and day out.
He was quite surprised when he saw the Minister hanging around the area. He and the rest of the Minister’s minions are a busy bunch, correct? And...yes, of course, Harmony was there too. “Good day, Minister.” A courteous nod, and the young man turned to the red head. “Boss.” Mordred gave her a small grin, and then allowed himself to explore the different plants before him.
Boring...weird...then there’s a unique one.
Mordred observed the plant that was labelled Java Moss, and then nodded at the man standing behind it. Must be...the person in charge for it? “Can you shape it like a bonsai tree? I think it’ll look more interesting.” The dragonologist said, crossing his arms and examined the plant further. If the man can shape it for him, then he just might adopt the thing.

What is this? Adam thought as he walked into work. There were tables and a few people lingering around looking at plants. Curious as always, Adam wandered up to see what was going on.
It appeared to be a plant sale. Well, Adam didn’t really need any new plants. His small flat was already over-crowded with various plants he used in his potions. Even so, Adam was a sucker for a good plant. After all, Herbology and Potion brewing were more analogous than many people liked to believe. He stood, trying to decipher the English that was written on the cards. Some days, his English was good, others it was bad. Reading, however, always threw him a little and took him probably longer than most adults his age. It didn’t mean he was slow, it’s just that English is a very complicated language, especially for ESL people.
The Snowbells were pretty. The Flitterbloom would quickly take over his apartment and weren’t really useful, but the Java Moss, well, that might give him a nice little place to try and breed Histcarp.
”Hallo,” Adam said to a nearby person who appeared to be working at the table. “How much?” he inquired with his heavily accented English. He hadn’t seen the “Adoption” sign and probably wouldn’t have understood what the word meant if he had.

Not wanting to be caught in another embarassing confrontation, Peri decided to answer the person's question. "Hey...er...they're not for sale. It's a plant adoption," Peri pointed towards the sign. "Interested?"

"I can't wait to help out with this green team idea, Emmalee," Harmony said cheerfully, having taken up the clipboard and jotted down her name. "I've been thinking the ministry needs to go green for ages!" And she had lots of ideas which she was sure her fellow department head would love to hear!
Help yourself? She didn't mind if she did. Harmony was particularly interested in the flitterbloom plants and she turned her attention there, wondering which to pick.

"Hello, Mr. Mordaunt! I'm so glad you came down!" Harmony was always happy to see her department participating in ministry events, especially when they were ones that promoted health and wellness in the work place! "I think plants around level four will make it a much more pleasant work environment, don't you think?"
Taladona Jordan was actually fairly knowledgeable about Herbology, she could tell you about most plants, about their attributes, what this one did in that potion, what ones should not be mixed together or even kept near each other.
She even knew what they needed to live and survive on, but knowing how to care for them and actually doing that were two different things for the blonde. Still, it didn't hurt to look around, and Emmalee had clearly gone through a lot of trouble getting all this stuff together, so here she was, looking at plants.
Did Lucas even like plants? Would Calvin eat try to eat it? Maybe she ought to stick to the pretty mundane lot for safety, especially with the chances of Aboli or Damon being around... Merlin, she was thinking about baby proofing her flat for babies that weren't even remotely her own (god mother duties aside).
There was that adulthood creeping up on her again. T__T

Lynley nodded at Jenny and quirked an eyebrow at her. "I'm very happy to see someone in the department taking an initiative in the green movement. Have you signed up for the green team, hmm?" Lynley would certainly hope so...Merlin knew, the planet needed some saving from THINGS nowadays.
She had finished signing her own name on the paper and turned to Emmalee. Hmm.

Lynley eyed the java moss. "Yes--I have one--" she wanted to grab Emmalee's attention before the redhead could sprint off. "This java moss--do you think it would be okay in my jelly fish tank? Would it kill my jellies? I'd love to put a plant in there--you've seen my tank." Yes, her jellies were pretty, but the added decoration would be very nice, in her opinion.
And if this plant killed her jellyfish, she'd want Emmalee Howell's blood.

It was Miss Sunshine and Daisies, aka, Harmony. Lynley sighed at the woman and nodded. "I am well. Busy, tired, running on caffeine...but well, I suppose, in the scope of things." She managed a small smile, and eyed those java mosses again. "I hope you're doing well...but I guess so...since you're all...sparkling and whatnot."
What did that even MEAN, Lynley?!

Fallon had snatched up an aquarium and held it close to her chest before Emmalee could even finish the first sentence. "You and I are going to spend a lot of time together, friend!" She looked at it for any sign of approval of her offered friendship, but nothing yet. Must be shy. The strawberry blonde whipped her attention back the environmentalist. "Green Team?" Green Team? "Green Team? What's that??" She blinked her eyes up at her, curiously.

Did Lucas even like plants? Would Calvin eat try to eat it? Maybe she ought to stick to the pretty mundane lot for safety, especially with the chances of Aboli or Damon being around... She took a double take at the young girl who entered. "YOU!" She sang across the room and glided towards her. "I know yooooou!" Fallon bounced from one leg to the other. "You spent a lot of time with my nephew!" A dainty finger rested on her lips, "You're not the girlfriend, are you? I'm pretty sure the girlfriend had..." The 29-year old paused to make a weird circle around her head with her hands. "....dark hair, yeah?" And if her memory was working well, the girlfriend was waaaaaaay shorter. GRIN.
"Hello." He greeted the man who was observing his baby the Java Moss. Shape it like what? Bonsai tree? Did the man think he was a bonsai maker or something? "I could but I don't have the equipment to make a bonsai Java Moss with me." Beside its a Plant Adoption Events. Not a Bonsai Fair. "If you still interested with a bonsai Java Moss, I could give you a tips how to make one." And it was pretty simple really. So was he still want to adopt the Java Moss?

Oh. Look its his fellow Oceanologist.
"Hey, Peri." He greeted his coworker with a curt nod. "So far so good. A lot of people seem really interested with our events." This was a very great idea, they should have done this ages ago. But better late than never right?
Then he heard someone was asking Peri about the price of their plants. He guess that this person didn't really understand the meaning of adoption then. Maybe where he came from there wasn't anything like this.
SPOILER!!: Taladona

Basti saw a woman looking around their plants. "Good day, Miss." He gave the woman a 'hello' nod. "Are you looking for a plant to beautify your work station too?" If so they have a different kind of plants. "And if you need help or if you have a question I would be happy to help."

Strutting towards the adoption tables on his afternoon break, Aronand looked over the options while casually listening in on the various conversations going on amongst the existing patrons.
Lots of green thumbs around here, it seemed.
"G'day, Emmalee," he greeted his colleague. "Quite the display of foliage you've got here." Which he would be taking home at least one of. "Seren also extends another dinner invitation, preferably out somewhere." So they wouldn't have to worry about Derfael and his ants-in-the-pants persona at the dinner table.
Turning his attention towards the two closest employees, the department head rubbed the back of his neck with one hand. "Which of these little darlings is proving to be the most difficult to take off your hands?"

Herbology really isn't his thing, but he is no simpleton with it either. The free tutorial being offered was welcome, but it would have been better if the guy had it shaped into something interesting so they'd get the attention they want from the rest of the ministry. Well, it isn't his department who is in charge with the event, so, sucks to be the guy over there not thinking about his brilliant idea to sell his stuff. "That would be nice." he said dryly not making eye contact, and waited impatiently for the dude to start moving.
Mordred blinked at the sound of his surname, and faced the red head. He wasn't sure if he was glad to be there, or wasting his precious time. However, Mordred appreciated Harmony's enthusiasm and decided to ride along with her...good vibes. "It should, yes. I'm tired of seeing and smelling dragon dung every single day. The greens should stand out." And maybe keep the smell at bay too?
Turning his attention back to the guy in charge, "Oh and since your department is promoting 'green' around the Ministry, maybe you could teach me how to propagate the Java Moss too." he said tucking his hands inside his trousers' pockets and turned towards Harmony once more. "What do you think boss? If I get to breed the moss properly, maybe we can set up a 2 to 3 feet tank with...I don't know, plimpies perhaps? Or shrakes?" It would be great to see and display water creatures for a change. Seriously, who'd want dragon dung as display?

Not for sale. A plant adoption. Adam stood there with a blank look on his face as he tried to wrack his brain for the meaning of adoption. His forehead wrinkled slightly as he thought. He was so deep in thought that he didn’t realize another person was looking at him funny. I wish Jory was here, he thought fighting the embarrassed feeling that was starting to creak up his neck and make his cheeks turn a little rosey. Jory would have either explained the situation to him or more likely had just grabbed the plant, thanked the other people for their services and ushered Adam off to explain it to him privately.
As it was, Jory was not here and Adam had to suck it up and asked. “Um,” he finally vocalized. “Vhat do you mean ah-daption?”

What did that even MEAN, Lynley?!
"You should consider drinking some coconut water! It does wonders to replenish and it tastes lovely." A wonderful alternative to coffee, which Harmony had been staying away from as of late. She'd be putting some in her break room as soon as she remembered to pick up a large quantity of the stuff. Or perhaps she'd buy a bundle of coconuts. How much could those possible go for?
"Sparkling..." The red head smiled serenely, not quite letting on to how amused she was. Silly Lynley, Harmony's aura was a soft blue today. "But yes, I am. I do hope this green team idea Emmalee has thought up breathes new life into the ministry!" Hehe.

"I quite agree, Mordred!" Harmony nodded her head enthusiastically and then added, "I've got some lovely lavender incense, as well, if you're really looking to change the scent in your work space." He need only ask.
The red head was now taking the time to send good vibes to each little succulent when the dragon enthusiast made a lovely suggestion. "Oh! That'd be just lovely! Truly inspired suggestion." All beams for you, Mordred Mordaunt. Harmony was a fan so far. "I've got someone who could help us design an adequate tank, too." Hmm.
The Plant Adoption Event was finally here. And looked at that beautiful plants that prepared by their department.
"Hello Ms. Howell." Basti gave the boss lady a curt nod. And look people were coming in. And wasn't that the new Minister of Magic? "Good day, Minister Clark."
............
Emmalee nodded toward Sebastian. His mosses were certainly looking well cared for and well kept. Emmalee just hoped that whoever adopted them would take as good care of them.
"Mr. Messer," she said with a smile. "Fine work getting ready for today." Truthfully, Emmalee was quite proud of all her employees. This really had turned out well.

Help yourself? She didn't mind if she did. Harmony was particularly interested in the flitterbloom plants and she turned her attention there, wondering which to pick.
"I'm glad to hear that, Harmony," she replied, pulling some more succulents out from under the table. Resting her hand on her stomach, she exhaled, having put the box down.
"I may need you to keep an eye on things during my leave." Which, truthfully, Emmalee thought couldn't come soon enough. She felt nearly the size of a house and still had months to go.

And if this plant killed her jellyfish, she'd want Emmalee Howell's blood.
Emmalee had started to move away when Lynley's voice caught her. The redhead considered a moment. "Well, I do know that they're often used in aquariums with fish, but I'm not terribly sure about your jellies' needs." For all she knew, there could be some sort of interaction between the jellies and the moss in a closed environment that wouldn't happen elsewhere.
"That might be a better question for Harmony.. or one of my oceanologists." Emmalee gestured down toward where Sebastian and Peri were standing. Aquatic ecosystems were.. more their thing.

"Green Team? What's that??" She blinked her eyes up at her, curiously.
Generally, Emmalee would have found the woman's... effusiveness... a little off-putting. But truthfully, she was a little distracted and so the enthusiasm just rolled right off her shoulders.
"We're getting a team together to look at environmental sustainability across departments. See if there are ways that we can improve all our work. The sheets are at the end of the table."

Exhaling, Emmalee ran her hand through her hair. "Aron, hi," she said, bit of an exhausted smile on her face. Bit of a rush all at once there, but plants were flying off the tables and Emmalee couldn't be happier.
"Yes, absolutely, just.. before late August," she said, gesturing toward her stomach. Her healer said she could go any time after 34 weeks because of the twins, and the last place she wanted to go into labor was in the middle of dinner with a colleague. "We'll connect later? Sebastian or Peri can help get you set up with a plant."
Gesturing toward her employees staffing the table, Emmalee turned and went to find a chair.
