Dusty Cellar (Incomplete Fanfiction)The cellar holds unfinished confections of storytelling, giving readers a glimpse into creative ideas that may one day be revived.
My heart beat fast against my chest, I felt that at any moment it would somehow break through. I could feel my palms sweating like mad and quickly whiped them against my trouser legs hoping no one would notice but to make sure I looked left and right at the other contestants and noted their fear and confusion. Some where better at masking it than others, breathing, my eyes fell on Neville as a distant boom of a bell sounded. Jerking slightly I looked all around me for the source of the noise, surely that couldn't be the start sound? I asked myself quickly looking at everyone else. Frozen, but it was and the scene of Neville tearing towards a cup in the middle brought me to my senses. I tore after him, Ginny a few seconds ahead, I tried my hardest to catch up to her. I didn't know where anyone else were, whether beside of behind I really didn't know nore stopped to check.
I felt my hand touch a small part of the goblet and I held on for dear life, if this was going to be a fight for the goblet then I wasn't going to lose. I had stuff to prove. Taking a deep breath I got ready to whip out my wand but before I did the world around me turned upside down, my stomach felt like it had dropped from under me. I looked around me at everyone else to see if they too were feeling the same thing. They all had strained looks on their faces as the portkey took them further and further away from Hogwarts. Then suddenly it stopped and I was thrown to the ground in a heap, everyone landed on the harsh ground around me. The goblet bounced away from us and landed not far from where we lay. I couldn't help but let out a low moan as I tried to gather myself against the ground. That hurt, but i couldn't lay on the ground forever I needed to get out of there. Who knew what was out there ready to get them? So I pulled myself from the ground, every part of my body screaming and took off into the forest but not before I noticed that I wasn't the only one still lying onthe ground. Before long the forest swollowed me in an instant.
I had no idea where I was going or what I was to do. Was there something I was to look for? I stopped a moment to catch my breath and take in my surroundings, that's when I heard it. The rwar came from the left of where I stood and I jumped. For a moment I paused then pulled out my wand and ran in the direction of the noise. It didn't take me long until I was running into the clearing - at about the same time as George and Draco - and again froze. For in front of us stood a large creature, a Chimera. Neville and Ginny were already there each shooting their own spells at it. I took their example and shot my own spell but was repaid with a ball of fire shot my way. I had a second in which I screamed and threw myself face first against the hard ground. Was I to spend most of this task on the ground? I asked angerly standing up again just as I heard Neville shout;
“WE – NEED – SOMEONE – TO – DISTRACT – IT - WHILE – OTHER'S – GET – TO – THE – MONSTER!”
I continued to shoot my own spells at the creature, paying half of my attention to what George said. I couldn't help but smile at his response, yes why not let Draco stay? He would do exactully the same to anyone of us, but I didn't speak up. They seemed to have it covered, Malfoy's reaction was predicted though.
“I'LL STAY!” I heard Ginny shout at I paused to take a breath, all this wand hexing was seriously tiring me out, “GO...Now.” Ginny added sending another hex forward. Everyone around me paused a moment, the Chimera sending a ball of fire from it's mouth, this time no where near them, before they all took off towards the creature. Me bringing up the rear, Ginny fired her last hex before I touched a small part of the Chimera's body and the world turned upside down once more but this time it was different. It ended in a second and she found herself facing a clapping ground and smiling judges. What more Ginny was there, what? It was all a joke? But what was the point in that? I asked myself as Professor McGonagall started to call people forward to give their marks but I hardly heard what she had to say, I was more concerned about the crowds around them.
"Lavender" The professor said which brought me back to earth, I stepped forward. "While you showed that you are able to take order's and take other people's examples. You lack the means to think for yourself, had this not been a straight forward task you would still be lost in that wood, for that I award you 6 points" The professor waved the number 6 for the crowd to see, she also got 6's from the other two judges that followed. Well at least she did better than Pavarti she though as she stepped back.
Soon it was all over and they were free to go, good she was tired and just wanted to sleep, but that wouldn't be allowed. Celebrations were in order. "Well done Lavender" A voice behind me said, I turned to see Ron giving me a small smile. I felt nothing however, "Thank you Ron" I replied simply and walked away.

eek. hai people! so, I realize how late this is - and I'm super duper sorry I'm also really sorry if it's lame, I wrote it at five o' clock this morning and my brain's seriously slow because I'm on my holidays. Anyway, I felt bad because I haven't done Luna in AGES so...here you go!
I don't approve of the Wizard Games.
That's why I didn't go and watch Neville. I think we should be mourning. Not brushing it off till later. They think the pain won't be so fresh and raw in a few months. That's not the case. I fingered the lace of the hem of a purple dress and half a sad smile spread across my face. I lifted the dress to my face and breathed in my mother's scent. It lingered in the fibres of her clothes.
I bring a trunk full of her stuff to Hogwarts every year.
I lifted up a knee-length, baby pink, silk dress and a proper happy smile spread across my face. I closed my eyes at the memory.
***
“MOMMY.”
Evangeline Lovegood looked up and held out her arms for me to jump into. Despite the fact I was seven-years-old and getting big, my mother held me like I was still two.
She nuzzled my cheek and plucked a flower from a near-by vase and tucked it behind my ear. “What is wrong, my little star?”
I rubbed tears from my grimy cheeks and tugged at a lock of dirty blond hair, wrapping the lock around my finger.
“The ch-children down at the Village were m-making f-fun of me again.”
And I couldn't help it, I burst into tears.
My mother chewed her small, lower lip before lifting me off her lap and taking me hand, walking me to the vegtable garden.
She tugged an onion out of the ground and held it out for me.
I just stared at it till she sighed in frustration and indicated for me to take it and start to peel it.
I did as she said, but kept pealing. And pealing. And pealing. Till it was basically gone. I looked up at my mother and she was smiling down at me. “Any time you feel angry or upset, just peal an onion. It'll distract you.”
I smiled widely at her. She had to be the most beautiful thing in the world. Her pale pink, silk dress, splattered with mud stains, silhouetted by the setting sun, giving her the look of an angel. The light danced of her golden hair that was slightly clamped to her head with sweat and her silver eyes looked at me with such love I knew whatever those kids in the town told me, my mother would always love me.
She beamed at me and brushed my dirty, blond hair over one shoulder and stroked my cheek affectionaly.
“You are so much more beautiful when you smile, my little star.”
***
I pulled the dress over my head and smiled at my reflection in the mirror.
I was almost as beautiful as my mother.
I found myself at the Lake, running a hand over the memorial, tracing names of those we lost. The big bolder is hard to miss, but that's the idea, I guess. My finger stroked the name, 'Colin Creevey'. The name brought tears to my eyes.
Colin and Ginny were my first friends at Hogwarts. And probably my only till fourth year. I was standing in front of a mirror, pealing an onion, crying (not because of said onion, but because once again I was called 'Looney' and being picked on) when Ginny Weasley walked in and silently handed me my books that I'd left in the classroom.
I thanked her and smiled and she smiled back and we left the bathroom together. As we were walking out, a flash dazzled my eyes and I burst into tears again. Colin Creevey panicked and Ginny looked shocked and they both sat me down on a bench nearby where I told them everything about my mother's death.
How she had made me watch from underneath the table in case anything happened. How she had waved off my concerns about her new spell being too dangerous and how a white flash, like the one from the camera, had dazzled my eyes and a scream rang through my ears and still did at times, waking me up at night.
Since then, they stook up for me, ate lunch with me, asked me to tell them about wrackspurts even though their eyes glazed over or they were doodling.
I used the sleeve of my mom's dress to whipe at my wet cheeks.
Where was an onion when you needed it?
“Luna?”
I spun around and pulled Neville into a hug.
“Neville!”
He hugged me back awkwardly, shuffling his feet.
“I have something to tell you. It's about...Hannah Abbot.”
Great job!
Luna's memory of her mom is so precious and perfect. I loved it
Finally Neville's owning up about Hannah; it's about time.I hope she handles well. I mean, the two really aren't meant for each other in the way you're writing it.
Great job! Can't wait for more!

I'm back! And this is as amazing as ever, please continue updating You have developed the characters wonderfully, I think that's what makes this story so exceptional actually, that we got so much insight into so many people. Brilliant
I'm terribly sorry for the wait, this isn't my best but I've had a lot on my mind lately as I'm starting University tomorrow and will be very busy from here on
How many more weeks until the second task? a few days, weeks? Everything seemed a blur to me as I did my bit to help rebuild the school around all the planning for the tasks ahead of us.
With a flick of my wand a pile of books shot up from the ground and repaired themselves before nestling gently on the shelf they belonged on. I sighed as I watched them move. That was the tenth pile I'd repaired in the last half hour and many more waited for me to get to, and for once in my life I hated the sight of books. This part of the library was quiet which I prefered because it meant i could think up possible spells to us in the next round. Other students occupied the other parts of the library because I could hear the muffled scrapping of their feet and their hushed voices as they cast spell after spell. As I moved over to more books that needed mending I heard soft footsteps coming towards me. I forwned as I paused and looked over my shoulder. I had no idea what I exected, or who I expected to be walking towards me at that moment but it certainly wasn't Draco Malfoy. The school bully. Raising my eyebrows I folded my arms and watched him stalk closer.
"What do you want Malfoy?" I demanded stopping him in his tracks. Draco nothing but instead looked around at the mess around me. He seemed to be battling with himself over something but he soon spoke up.
"Look don't make this harder for me than it already is," Malfoy said as he lent against a bookshelf, "Everyone knows your going to win these games so I've come here asking if you'd like to team up. That way the others have no chance of winning"
I stared at him unable to make sense of what I was hearing, many thoughts came to mind. One: Draco Malfoy was talking to me as if I'm a normal person he deemed worthy. Two: He asked me for help. Three: He asked me to cheat.
It might not officially be in the rules but it didn't feel right to me, not when so many of my friends were competing in the games with me.
"No" I simple said as I turned away, he deserved no explination from me with the way he treated me and my friends these past seven years. Ignoring him I set about repairing another pile of books and directing them to a booksehfl above me.
"I decided to give you a chance and play nice but so be it.." I cut across him as I whirled around
"No just stop, you have no right to treaten me or ask me to cheat because your afriad to lose" I was fuming, who did he think he was? A thought came back to me of my third year here at Hogwarts when I had hit Malfoy and had gone about cursing him, only Ron and Harry had been there to stop me then. There was nothing to stop me cursing Malfoy now, only I had seen enough dueling and cursing those you disliked far to much. Besides the hassle and explaining to a Professor why I'd done it in the first place would be too time consuming. Instead I glared at him.
"I'm not afraid of losing Granger" Malfoy shot at me, I sighed once more,
"Just leave me alone Malfoy" I said turning my back to him, I had my wand posed however incase he should make a move towards me. He didn't, thankfully, as at that moment Professor McGonagall chose that moment to come over and check my process, eyeing Malfoy as she did.
"Mr. Malfoy is there a reason why you are here and not heping like everyone else?" She asked staring at him over her glasses. Malfoy pulled his lips together tightly before replying,
"No Professor" I heard him reply lowering his eyes and pushing away from the bookshelf. I watched him walk away with a smirk.
