Second Year Part Two After the sunset Keely, Lily, Remus, James, Sirius, and Mia changed into their Hogwarts robes and waited for the train to stop when the compartment door opened only to show Regules standing near the door way. “I knew I’d find you here with the Potters.” Regules said with a grin on his face, “I can’t wait to tell mum about this.” “Go away, Reggie.” said Sirius, “Why don’t you go and hug your teddy bear or something.” “I told never to call me that!” Regules said angrily. “Hey kid, why don’t you just go away?” said Lily “How dare you talk to me, you filthy little mudblood!” Keely gasped and James and Sirius reached their hands into their pockets for their wands but Mia was quicker; she pulled out her wand, waved it upwards and Regules hung up in the air by his ankle. “Put me down!” Regules shouted angrily “Not until you apologize to Lily for calling her that name!” said Mia in a menacing voice. “What’s going on in here?” Remus’s older sister Sylvia entered the compartment just when Mia accidentally dropped Regules to the ground. “You won’t get away with this, Potter.” Regules spat at Mia’s feet and stormed out of the compartment, but not without shoving Sylvia out of the way first. “You guys weren’t fighting, were you?” she asked suspiciously. “My idiot little brother called Lily a ‘mudblood.’” said Sirius, giving a look of distaste for saying the word. “Yeah, well, you could have told a teacher about it.” said Sylvia, “You guys can get into a lot of trouble for fighting.” “Are you actually defending what he did?” asked Remus incredulously. “No, I’m just saying that you shouldn’t be starting trouble before we even get back to Hogwarts.” Sylvia said sternly, “Mum and Aunt Sarah told me to keep an eye on you Remus and that goes for the rest of you too.” With one last look at the group, she left the compartment. Mia shut the compartment door and sat down in her seat, looking upset. “Hey, Sirius, this guy, I'm not a fan.” She said to Sirius. “Join the club.” said Sirius. The compartment door opened again and Sirius, thinking it was Regules again, shouted, “I thought I told you to-“ but he stopped when he saw who it really was coming into the compartment; Hillary. “Oh, hi, Sirius. Bad time?” she asked, blushing. “Oh, no.” Sirius said, embarrassed, “I thought you were someone else.” Hillary nodded until she saw Mia sitting near him. “And who’s this?” Hillary asked in an obviously pretended sweet voice. Mia, Lily, and Keely noticed Hillary’s eyes narrowed and were giving Mia a cold glare when she asked the question. “I’m Mia, James’s sister.” said Mia, “I’m starting school this year.” “How nice for you.” Said Hillary before turning back to Sirius, “So Sirius, I was thinking that after we go back to school I’ll probably have trouble with some of my work in Transfiguration like last year so maybe if you were up to it maybe you could help me out since you’re so good in that class.” Hillary was right about Sirius being great in Transfiguration since he always had top marks in that class. But Hillary probably didn’t want to spend time with Sirius for tutoring but for some other reason. “I’d be glad to.” said Sirius “Can’t wait.” Hillary gave him a satisfied smile and left the compartment, closing the door behind her. “You do know she’s making an excuse just so she can have a chance to kiss you, right?” asked Keely. “I don’t care,” said Sirius, shrugging, “As long as I get to hang out with her.” “There’s something about that girl that I don’t like.” said Mia. “Join the club.” said Keely in an undertone. |

Second Year Part Three When the train finally stopped, Keely, Remus, Lily, James, Sirius, and Mia left their compartment and left the train. “Firs’ years this way!” said a voice. The group looked around and saw Hagrid, the gamekeeper rounding up the first years to the boats. “You need to go with Hagrid and the other first years.” James told Mia, “There will be some boats for all of you there to use to get up to the school.” “How do we get sorted?” asked Mia. “You have to take this test where you do some difficult tasks.” said Sirius, “You gotta show the school what kind of spells you can do.” “Sirius, don’t scare her.” said Lily, “Don’t worry, Mia. You don’t have to do that.” “Then how does the sorting work?” Before Lily could answer, they heard Hagrid shout out, “Las’ call for firs’ years!” James waved at Mia and followed Sirius to some horseless carriages. James shared the same carriage as Lily and Sirius. “Hope she’ll be okay.” said Lily. “Mia will be fine.” said James, “She’s tough, just like Mum. Even DAD admits it.” When the carriages stopped in front of the castle, it started to rain hard. They ran into the Entrance Hall and started to dry off as much as they could. “I hope the lake doesn’t flood.” said James. James looked around and saw Remus and Keely going into the Great Hall. Sirius nudged James and pointed at the entrance to the Great Hall. “Look who it is.” He said. James looked at where Sirius was pointing and he felt pure hatred flow through him; It was Severus Snape. “I hope he doesn’t try to ask Mia out.” He whispered to Sirius. “With you as her older brother? He doesn’t have the guts.” “Still, I better keep an eye on the two of them. Just in case.” “Potter, Mia!” called out Professor McGonagall, holding up the Sorting Hat. Mia hurried over to McGonagall, sat on the three legged stool, and put the Sorting Hat on top of her head. Lily noticed that she didn’t seem nervous at all about the sorting; Mia’s hands weren’t trembling, she wasn’t shaking, and she didn’t cat any nervous glances at James in the Gryffindor table. It took several minutes for the hat to think of which house was perfect for Mia. Finally, it shouted out “GRYFFINDOR!” Mia smiled, took off the hat, and ran over to the Gryffindor table. James looked over at the Slytherin table and saw Severus Snape giving a few claps for Mia then putting down his hands. James could tell that Snape was disappointed that Mia wasn’t sorted into Slytherin. James smiled and continued to watch the sorting. “Why are you smiling?” asked Mia. “Oh, I’m just glad you made it into Gryffindor, that’s all.” |

I am really sorry! I had no idea that it's been so long since I last posted. Here's the next chapter Chapter Fifteen: Mia’s First Day Mia waited impatiently for James and Sirius in the common room for twenty minutes until they finally came out from the Boys Dormitory. “What took you guys so long?” demanded Mia, “We need to hurry down to the Great Hall to get breakfast and get to our classes!” “Mia, relax,” said Sirius, “Classes don’t start for another forty-five minutes.” “I know, but I’m going to need help finding my classes.” “Well then, lets go.” said James. James, Sirius, and Mia hurried down the corridor until they found the Great Hall. Standing at the entrance of the Great Hall was Severus Snape. When James saw Snape, he looked at his wrist as if he was looking at his watch and said, “We better hurry and eat breakfast; we only have ten minutes left!” “What are you talking about James?” asked Sirius, looking at his own watch, “We’ve got ano-” But when James elbowed Sirius and nodded at Snape, Sirius understood. I mean, yeah, we better hurry!” James grabbed Mia around her arm and started to pull her quickly into the Great Hall so that she wouldn’t see Snape, but his plan failed when she saw Snape and said, “Hi, Severus!” Snape looked around at Mia and gave her a small smile but he didn’t say anything else. “Hey James,” said Mia when she was putting jam on her toast, “Why didn’t Severus say anything to me? Do you think he didn’t recognize me?” “Oh no,” said James, “It’s just that he’s in his second year and to everyone in second year and up think that they’re too cool to hang out with first years.” “Why do they think that?” “I don’t know, it’s just how their small minds work. Lucky for you I’m your brother otherwise I probably wouldn’t even be talking to you right now.” Mia looked at her schedule and looked at her watch to compare times and said, “James, I think there might be something wrong with your watch; mine says that we have another thirty minutes to get to classes.” “Oh, well what do you know, I think you’re right.” James said, looking at his wrist again under the table so Mia wouldn’t see that he didn’t have a watch. After another fifteen minutes later, James, Mia, and Sirius got up from their table and left the Great Hall when they saw Remus, Peter, Lily, Meg, and Keely coming into the Great Hall. “You guys are leaving already?” asked Lily, checking her watch, “We have another fifteen minutes to get to class.” “We know, but James and I need to help Mia find her first class.” said Sirius. “That’s awful nice of nice of you two.” said Meg. “Yeah, thanks.” said James distractedly, he was looking around to make sure Snape wasn’t nearby. “Well, we better get going then. See you guys later.” Minutes later, James and Sirius found her first class, Charms with Professor Flitwick. “Don’t worry,” said James, “Flitwick is a great teacher and can be very understanding if you can’t get your spells right. I’ll meet you here when class is over so I can take you to your next one. Which is it again?” he added looking at Mia’s schedule, “Transfiguration. Don’t worry about that one that class is a little easy, but try not to cross McGonnagle, she’s really strict. Sirius and I gotta get going now. Behave yourself.” “Okay, Mum.” said Mia, smiling “Oh wait, Mia I think you have something on your nose,” said James licking his thumb, “Let me get that for you.” He tried to put his thumb on Mia’s face while she started laughing and pushed his arm away. “You need to get to your class now you two.” said Mia, still giggling as she went into the classroom. “Oh, they grow up so fast.” said James, pretending to wipe a tear away from his eye. “Yeah, sunrise, sunset.” said Sirius. When he and James started to leave, Sirius suddenly said, “Wait a minute, who is she?” He pointed at a girl with long blonde curly hair which she kept in a ponytail; she was standing next to the classroom door chewing gum and reading a Witch Weekly magazine. “I don’t know,” said James, “But I think she might be too young for you.” “Probably by only a year, that’s not too young,” said Sirius, “I’m going to go meet her.” “Well hurry, we have another five minutes left to get to class.” “You go on; I’ll catch up with you later.” Sirius walked over to the girl, put a hand on the wall to lean on it and said, “Hi.” The girl looked at him up and down. She opened her mouth and said, “Bye.” and walked into the classroom. |
