PRELOGUE

HE was a parseltongue, and he didn’t know it until that night.
THE Sorting Hat just placed him in Gryffindor, the feast was over, and they were going back to the Gryffindor Common Room, and the Slytherins were going to theirs. Despite their ungrateful glances, he had just heard a voice towards their direction and turned to look, but saw nothing. After turning back around, he had heard it again. Being grasped by curiosity, he sneaked behind the last Slytherin and followed them towards the Slytherin Common Room.

HOWEVER his plan wasn’t so simple, and he was caught by one of the prefects and was told that if they ever found him sneaking behind them again, they were going to tell the professor. When he turned to leave, he noticed a small, black snake slithering with unease across the dark, marble floor. It was surely in pain. He felt pity towards the snake, and was about to take a step towards it, the snake spoke with a hoarse voice: “My end is coming…” and trailed off, moving no more.

STANDING with shock, he ran back to the Gryffindor Common Room just as the last Gryffindor door was about to close. He collapsed in the armchair and rethought about what had happened, a talent that he never knew. Could this be one of the clues to his mysterious past? Could this be one of the clues to his unknown parents and their mysterious past? Could this be the answer to many questions haunting him at night, giving him his worst nightmares?

THAT night, he went to sleep with his head still aching with questions.

THAT was the most eerie night for James Potter Jr.
