I Thought I Saw a Unicorn - Sa13+

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...in/GGANom2.gif

Hello! I'm Hannah and new on the site! This idea came to me when I was horse riding with my friend recently. It was going dark and we were near a shadowy forest, we heard an owl hooting, and it sounded as though it was getting closer, we spun around and tore off galloping as fast as our ponies would take us in fear - it sounded as though the owl was about to jump out the nearest tree!

The characters were chosen as, Felicity is my Hogwarts RPG Character and I just adore Draco Malfoy. Draco, Hogwarts, and all other characters, locations and ideas - except Felicity Libelle and the basic plot - are J.K Rowling's! I do not take any credit for them.

Thanks and enjoy! Hope it's alright (this is my first FF post - ever) and excuse any spelling and/or grammar mistakes :)

Chapter 1

Gnarled branches grabbed and pulled at Felicity's heavy black cloak, she was stumbling desperately between the trees, her breathe was escaping irregularly and sounding raspy and forced. She started to sob and thick tears rolled down her scarred cheeks. The dense, cold hood of night fell over her eyes, blinding Felicity and her thin frame was weighed down by the unsympathetic atmosphere, she ran towards the only light her startling blue eyes could focus - the familiar, warm lights of the castle.
Tears were tumbling thickly down her face now, Felicity tripped and fell over a twisted branch, cutting her pale arms. Sitting there sobbing, she looked around frantically for any sign of friendly life, but the Forbidden Forest had furthermore consumed her into it's dangerous bowels. An owl hooted loudly and threateningly, and Felicity stood up with a start, staring around, a blinding white light glowed invitingly ten feet away from her place of stand, the light flickering as the form travelled between the towering trees.
Edging slowly across the forest floor, twigs and ivory - coloured sticks (Felicity tried with all her might to imagine were not bones) crackling and snapping beneath her feet, she noticed that the luminous shape was infact a vaguely detailed snake. It appeared to be slithering effortlessly over the leaves and branches without leaving a trace of it's path. Felicity had seen animals like this before, in Defence Against The Dark Arts, Professor Lupin had cast a very similar looking form, only not the same animal, she was sure this snake was a Patronus.
It turned it's scaley head towards her and gestured for her to follow. Crouching and struggling through the forest, the snake meandered through the trees, Felicity noticed that the branches hanging towards her almost inquisitively were thinning and growing further apart until she felt a strong breeze and stumbled out into open grass.
There stood, his well - crafted features contorted apprehensively, was Draco Malfoy.
"What did you think you were doing?!" he yelled, his voice was strangely high - pitched, "I was so w-" he cleared his throat, "Well?!", he lowered his tie awkwardly, his grey eyes narrowed questioningly.
"I, err, I thought I saw a unicorn..." Felicity cringed at how childish this sounded.
Draco still looked angry and anxious, but she was sure she glimpsed his eyes glint as thought amused.
"You thought, you saw, a unicorn?" he drawled, "Come on, it's freezing out here, Madam Pomfrey will sort out those cuts." he walked forwards and ran his fingers around her scarlet stained scratches, she winced and he drew back his hand.
Draco looked her up and down examining her other casualties and the rips in her robes, before taking off his own cloak and wrapping it around her shoulders, his warm, peppermint - scented breath tingled the skin it brushed and she felt herself go red as his white - blonde hair tickled her ear.
He drew back, seeming to realise just how close he had gotten too, by the rosy stains on his normally pale face.
"Are you coming?" he asked staring up at the moon, which illuminated his attractive features flatteringly, Felicity's stomach lurched appreciatively.
"Yes," she managed quickly, and tripped forwards to join his side. He sniggered at her clumsiness, and they emersed into chat walking increasingly closely up to the magnificent castle where no doubt, Filch was waiting to question them on why they were wandering the Hogwarts grounds in the late hours of the night.

That was so adorable! I love Draco to death and back!

The name of the story, well, it is completely brilliant, I saw it under the latest fanfics and I was like "OOOOOH SHINAY" haha.

I shall try to be a regular reader/commenter, but I'm on vacation right now, with limited time to the computer, much less internet.

Anyway, I would love to see where this goes, it's VERY cool and interesting looking/sounding!

I love it so far! Sooo, pamspamspamsplease!

Felicity winced as Madam Pomfrey sealed her shallow wounds.
"Here you are Miss Libelle," she handed Felicity a sickeningly big chunk of chocolate, "eat up! And don't go wandering off into the forest again."
Reluctantly, Felicity took a bite out of the chocolate, a wave of tranquility flooded through her, and her muscles - which she realised were tensed - relaxed.
"You may go back to your dormitory...Mr Malfoy?" Madam Pomfrey said sternly to Draco, who appeared to have been daydreaming as he jumped slightly, he muttered something inaudible, and probably rude. He turned to face Felicity who smiled gratefully and took his cloak from around her shoulders and passed it to him, grimacing from pain. He returned a small smile, rested the cloak on his arm, turned on his heel and marched off out of the large Hospital Wing.
Felicity let out a small yelp.
"Keep still, Miss Libelle! Some of these cuts are quite nasty!" Madam Pomfrey warned, Felicity sighed obviously and dramatically.
****

The next morning, Felicity dragged her feet sluggishly to the Ravenclaw table, and took her usual seat next to Luna Lovegood.
"Good morning!" Luna exclaimed brightly, passing Felicity the pumpkin juice,
"Is it a good morning? Is it really?" she said moodily, overfilling her goblet and cursing. Luna ignored this comment and hid behind
The Quibbler. Felicity drained the pumpkin juice and put her head on her arms, the sun had begun to peep over the horizon before she had fallen too sleep,
"You are aware that you have your jumper on back to front, aren't you?" Luna asked dreamily, Felicity sighed deeply and began the obvious and embarrassing process of turning it the right way around.
Just as she successfully completed the task, knocking over the gillywater which splashed down Cho Chang's front, Draco Malfoy strolled into the Great Hall, flagged by Crabbe and Goyle, (whom Felicity thought ridiculous) and weaved and shoved - unapologetically - through the stationary students to the Slytherins. He had dark bags under his eyes, which contrasted with the paleness of his skin, and his white - blonde hair was stuck up in various orientations - he had obviously had has little sleep as she had. He glanced over, and smiled subtlely before nestling across from Pansy Parkinson, who immediately began to chat loudly, looking straight past her shoulder and at Felicity, who mouthed,
I'm all fixed.
****

After breakfast, Felicity hung back outside the giant doors, hoping to catch Draco. She was bursting with questions.
She wasn't waiting long; Draco appeared minutes later. He caught sight of Felicity and told Crabbe and Goyle, presumably, to meet him at their next lesson, Charms (which they had with the Ravenclaws). He walked casually over to her with his hands in his robe pockets,
"You alright?" he asked, Felicity was shot dirty and envious looks from a group of Slytherin second years.
"Yeah, Madam Pomfrey patched me up well," she smiled, "Draco, how did you know where I was?" he looked slightly alarmed, as if searching for a plausible answer,
"I - er, ermm," his grey eyes darted around, he sighed, "I stole this map from Potter, I heard him and Weasley talking about it and took it from his robes," Felicity looked both unsuprised and confused, Draco continued, "it shows a map of the school and grounds, and everyone inside is labelled," she made a sound of understanding, "and I saw you hanging around outside the Forbidden Forest, I watched you for a bit, but when you didn't come out, I - er, wondered where you'd gone, and it was going dark outside, so I went to find you." he shrugged when he finished.
"Well, it's a good job you looked! I'd probably be inside a giant spider by now!" Draco shuddered slightly, Felicity remembered hearing about his endeavours into the forest in his first year, "And also, how did you manage to produce a Patronus?! That's advanced stuff." He shrugged again,
"Practice." he said simply, barely containing a smug grin. Just then, the bell rang, and students started hurrying up and down stairs and pushing past each other.
"You coming?" Draco asked, Felicity nodded and they set off to Professor Flitwick's classroom discussing Patroni.

__________________________________________________ _______________

It was three days after Felicity had gotten lost in the Forbidden Forest, and she was sat dozily in her worst lesson - History Of Magic. Professor Binns was droning monotonily in the general direction of the class he was barely aware was infront of him.
Her attention slipped to the goings on behind the tall glass windows; Hagrid was taking a Care Of Magical Creatures lesson, with what appeared to be a Hippogriff as the main subject. She could see the bright ginger hair of Ron Weasley and the untamed frizz which was Hermione Granger's head.
Felicity sat up straighter in her seat to see more of the scene, a black haired, bespectacled boy, who she recognised to be Harry Potter, was bowing nervously infront of the animal. He began to stroke the Hippogriff, before climbing roughly onto it's back.
The animal took three giant strides before leaping into the air and flapping it's feathered wings powerfully.
"Wow." she breathed, and a few of her fellow classmates turned to find what she was looking at, their mouths dropping in awe. Felicity looked back to the ground, a flash of white caught her eye, and she noticed Draco Malfoy stood with his arms crossed at his chest talking to Gregory Goyle, it seemed, trying his upmost to ignore the flying half horse, half bird gliding around a very high tower.
Harry landed the animal to the cheers of the Gryffindors (even a few Slytherins looked mildly impressed) and joined Ron and Hermione. Draco broke away from his conversation and strode towards the front of the group. Standing three metres away from the Hippogriff he walked confidently to it's head. The beast reared and lashed out it's giant talons, Draco fell to the ground, squirming and twisting in the grass. Felicity gasped, and the Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs, who had lost interest when Harry had touched the ground, turned expectantly to look out the window.

****

Shoving the heavy wooden doors into the Hospital Wing so hard they hit the stone walls on either side of them, Felicity looked around frantically for a white - blonde head.
"Oh Draco! Does it hurt too bad?!"
Pansy Parkinson had pulled up a chair as close to Draco's bed as she possibly could and was stroking his hair. Her friend's had all sat around him too, and were looking sympathetically at his bandaged arm. Felicity crept slowly up to the crowd, observing the scene, and perched carefully and quietly on the end of the bed opposite.
"Well," he groaned dramatically, a few girls whimpered, "it's still bleeding like mad, but, I'm fighting through the pain." Pansy stared into his face with an overly understanding expression, nodding vigorously. Someone snorted amusedly from another occupied bed.
"Of course you are Draco, we all know how brave you are!" she glanced quickly at her Slytherin friends and they began to nod and agree.
Draco looked up and noticing Felicity listening to the conversation with an amused expression on her face. He looked down at his bandage, embarrassed, and blushed vividly.
"Don't cry Drackie!" Pansy squawked, she followed his previous gaze and also noticed Felicity sat silently across from them.
"What are you doing here, Raven's bum?!" the Slytherin girls cackled, Draco stared at Pansy, his face screwed up angrily.
"Oh nothing, Pansy," Felicity said pleasantly, swinging her leg over he knee, "you look like you're wilting slightly, maybe someone should spread some manure around your roots, stop your sickly little petals from dropping off?" Draco sniggered into his chest, Pansy shot him a deadly look.
"Watch it, Libelle, or you're going to get a nasty surprise!" Pansy rolled up her sleeves and kicked back her chair.
"What's going on here?!" Madam Pomfrey hurried over, "Fists away Pansy! Goodness me, one visitor at a time please, Mr Malfoy doesn't need all the drama." she straightened his bed covers and half - jogged back to her office. Pansy smiled maliciously.
"Well, let's let Draco decide who he wants to stay, shall we?" she sat down by his bedside again, the other Slytherins looked hopeful. Draco picked up his wand from the bedside table and flicked it; Pansy Parkinson's chair legs vanished and she tumbled too the floor, hitting her head hard on a neighbouring bed frame.
"Not you." Draco said shortly, "Not any of you." he turned towards the other girls crowded around his bed. They scurried off to help Pansy from the floor, her pug - like face was stained with tears, she scrambled to her feet and stormed out.
Felicity walked forwards and settled on the edge of his bed. He leaned towards her smiling.
"How did you know I was in here then, Libelle?" he mimicked Pansy's squawky, high - pitched voice. Felicity laughed.
"I was watching through the window when it happened, it looked nasty, is it deep?" she examined his arm.
"No, not bad, but I'm playing it up to Father, it's about time that stupid oaf got what he deserves." he sneered malevolently.
"Draco, not Hagrid, do you have too?" she knew fighting with him was no use, any friend of Harry Potter's seemingly had to be an enemy of his. He decided not to reply. "Pansy Parkinson seems to have a bit of a thing for you." Draco looked up into Felicity's face, she was staring downwards, fiddling with a loose piece of thread on his sheets. "So do most of those girls actually."
"Well, I don't have anything for them, I just need people on my side if I'm going to get Hagrid in trouble, I need witnesses, witnesses against him." Felicity was still playing with the thread,
"well, that's good, because they're horrid." She mumbled.
"This better heal soon, I've got Quidditch matches to train for." he yawned and stretched dramatically, winking at her. Felicity smiled.
"Save it, I'm not going to swoon like Parkinson." she laughed and slipped forwards, her face inches from Draco's, his warm, sweet breath on her face like sunshine, brightening whatever it touched, his grey eyes were closed and his uninjured arm was gripping hers; a wave of glowing anticipation flooded over Felicity and her stomach lurched as though a thousand butterflies had taken flight at once. His breathe became warmer and sweeter; their lips touched.

"What's he doing snogging a Ravenclaw?! She's not even a pure - blood!"
"A Slytherin?! She must be desperate."

Soon everyone in Hogwarts knew about Draco Malfoy and Felicity Libelle.

Pansy Parkinson was a mess, she shot a hex at Felicity whenever she passed her in the corridors, her face red and puffy from stinging tears.

"Felicity!" Draco caught up with her in the rush to avoid ambush inbetween lessons. His normally sleek hair was ruffled, his robes were torn and he had large purple bruises on his pale face. She gasped,
"Oh my g-" she began,
"I know, it's not going down well within the Slytherins." he muttered and took Felicity's hand with his uninjured arm, "But what does it matter? They'll get over it soon enough. How have the Ravenclaws took it?" he stroked the back of her fingers.
"Well, they're not this bad," she gestured towards Draco's ripped robes and injured face, "They avoid me and I can hear them talking about it, I still have Luna though, she won't desert me. They'll just have to accept it, I ju-"
"Look at them holding hands, sick isn't it?!"
"Get a room!"
"Look at ikkle Draco all lovey dovey!"
A large pack of Slytherins were at the end of the hallway, sniggering and pointing at Draco and Felicity. Draco didn't look around at first, his hand contracting around Felicity's, he faced the gang, his expression was furious.
"Shut up! I'm going to Snape, then we'll see who's laughing when you're pickling rat brains for a month!" Draco shot at them angrily.
They carried on walking past laughing, but a tall boy, who Felicity recognised as Blaise Zabini, shot a hex over his shoulder, and it hit her square in the chest, she was knocked over backwards, flying into a hard, stone wall.
The following scene was a flash of sparks and colour, running feet against stone and grunts of pain, resulting in Blaise lying on his back unconscious. Draco pulled Felicity to his feet, he set off, almost running, dragging her through corridors and down staircases; he was livid.
Knocking loudly and unceremoniously on Professor Snape's office door, Draco turned to look at her,
"Are you hurt?" he said shortly, not making eye contact. She shook her head quickly.
Professor Snape pulled the door back sharply, looking down his nose at the two students outside his door.
"Ah Draco, can I help?" he said, expressionlessly, he turned his head to look at Felicity, "And Miss Libelle? I have heard the rumours, come in." Draco dragged Felicity into Snape's cold office.
"A group of Slytherins just passed us in the corridor, sir," Draco said plainly, "Blaise Zabini shot a spell at her," he jerked his head towards Felicity, "and she was thrown against a wall. Blaise is now laying unconscious on the way to Professor Trelawny's classroom." he smirked slightly, but his lips soon returned to a frown.
"I will punish them accordingly, and how are your Housemates taking this?" he didn't look at her, but Felicity answered anyway.
"Not great, but not bad enough to injure me." she said, indicating Draco's bruises.
"Hmm," Snape stared at the purple blotches, "I will alert Professor Flitwick of your troubles, you may leave, Mr Malfoy wait here please, I would like to talk to you."
"Thankyou Professor." she answered, getting up to leave she picked up Draco's unbandaged hand and squeezed it, before leaving the sulking, white - blonde Slytherin and heading to dinner, hoping Luna was had saved her a seat and made sure noone had poisoned her food.

Professor Snape dealt with the Slytherins almost immediately, it seemed, as when Draco and Felicity edged nervously into the Great Hall the next morning, they welcomed Draco with open arms. Blaise waved a bandaged hand and attempted to grin, the end result being more of a grimace. Draco blatantly ignored him, apart from the occasional filthy glance.
The Ravenclaws took this instananeous acceptance as a warning and begun to smile and converse with Felicity once again.
****

The sun glowed peacefully in the sky like a contented cat, batting the clouds with it's cheerful rays. The grass was crisp and dewy, and a gentle breeze tickled the trees and shrubs playfully.
Draco Malfoy and Felicity Libelle were walking hand in hand around the circumference of the lake, happy and smiling, Pansy Parkinson had finally stopped jinxing Felicity and Draco's bruises were fading, leaving just a pink tinge upon his pale face. The next Hogsmeade trip was fast approaching, the third - years excited at the prospect of furthermore freedom.
"You are going to Hogsmeade next weekend aren't you? I very much doubt the Slytherins will try anything. I don't know what Professor Snape said - or did - to them, but they obviously don't want a second dose." Felicity chatted happily to Draco, swinging on his hand, her shockingly blue eyes highlighted in the sun.
"Of course I'm going! Blaise Zabini basically worships at my feet these days," he smirked, "I still put a Bubotuber in his bed for good measure." Felicity laughed easily,
"We're going together aren't we? It's just, I have no end of Ravenclaws sucking up to me, and I need to tell them something true, you know I'm an awful liar." Draco sniggered, it was true, in their second year, Felicity had stolen Boomslang from the store cupboard - Filch didn't even resort to Veritaserum.
"Yes we are, I want to see the Shrieking Shack, you up for it?" Draco didn't even look like he was.
"Err, ye- sure." She cleared her throat, "Of course I am!" Draco laughed.
"And you're still no better a liar," he pulled her under his arm, "come on, let's sit down, it's too warm to keep walking.' He sat down on the grassy bank and patted his crossed legs as an indication for Felicity to sit there. She purposely thumped down onto his thighs and he groaned, laughing, and pulled her onto his chest as he fell onto his back, yellow buttercups framing his body. Their faces now inches apart, Draco kissed the end of her nose gently, and she rolled over to lay next to him, resting under his arm, her right hand and head on his chest, her left playing with his white - blonde hair. Draco put his arms around her, and they lay there in perfect silence until the sun drifted sleepily towards the mountainous horizon.

Dew teetered on the grass around the castle and an eager breeze wrestled with the auburn leaves clothing the tall trees dotted around the grounds. The Entrance Hall was full of excited chat and bustling students. Filch became lost inbetween the groups of keen and impatient bodies that were flooding out into the crisp morning.
Just passing through the giant, wooden doors, were Felicity Libelle and Draco Malfoy.
Draco barged through the other students looking very irritated; his hand clasped around Felicity’s, who was wearing a mildly amused expression. A blue scarf twisted around her neck contrasted unflatteringly with Draco’s green one, and she pulled her fitted coat around her slim frame, her tumbling brown hair blowing softly back like a flag, as she faced the tolerable but cold wind. Draco, looking back and noticing her discomfort, pulled her roughly under his arm and together they walked along the road to Hogsmeade.
***

The village was full of chatting students, jogging happily from shop to shop; Felicity and Draco strolled in and out of various stores and cafes, which were all full to their brims.
Finally, after much encouragement on Draco’s part, they made their way, hand in hand, to the Shrieking Shack.
The air seemed to become harsh and sharp as the dilapidated building loomed in front of them, the golden leaves swirled menacingly and swooped down into their anxious faces. Felicity let out a small whimper and Draco’s silvery eyes were narrowed in apprehension. A wolf howled; the echo bouncing on the surrounding trees and fading with one last chill. The bushes behind them rustled, both Draco and Felicity turned to look, their mouths slightly open and each other’s’ hands held tightly inside one another. A wide – eyed rabbit hopped out of the shrubs and bounded away towards the village. Felicity and Draco relaxed, laughing, and walked closer to the Shrieking Shack boundaries.
The wind had picked up significantly, and it whistled and howled as it sped through the broken windows of the building, dead ivy clung desperately to the grey bricks, and clear water dripped loudly from the roof.
“Eerie isn’t it.” Felicity managed. Draco nodded, and gulped slightly louder than Felicity imaged he’d like to admit. They sat down on a damp, mossy bench looking down on Hogsmeade, the sun was now peering from behind a golden – leaved tree, white clouds meandered around it, and rays of warm sunlight sprinted to the earth. The light made Draco’s white – blonde hair illuminate and his metallic eyes swirl, even on such a windy, rosy day, his face was still perfectly pale. Felicity rested her head on his shoulder, and Draco kissed her hair. Their fingers still intertwined, Felicity and Draco wasted away the afternoon sat outside the Shrieking Shack before making their way back into the village to return to the Castle.
