Ah I'll be writing it soon! I just finished my 50, 000 words for NaNoWriMo and decided to write down the structures for another story I'm writing that's not based on Harry Potter, sadly. I'm waiting to see how I can make the next chapter interesting...

Thanks I'm working on it slowly, feeling a bit depleted of inspiration but I think I know where it's going to go...
I almost thought I wouldn't make it, but I just had to keep writing and not think!

Visitors
At the Leaky Phial, Hermione and Ron awoke at the sound of a morning call from a bird outside their open window. A nice cool breeze whooshed in, and Hermione shivered. She stretched slowly, not wanting to get up, knowing what the day held - or more, not knowing what the day held. Ron was already up, giving her a spare change of clothes to get into. It was a long blue skirt and a white singlet, with a thick black cardigan. She smiled as she pulled it on, pausing to look as she pushed her left hand through. That sparkle just kept catching her eye. She wondered if she would ever be able to marry Ron. Quickly she pushed those thoughts from her mind. She was ready, her small bag in her hand, full of absolutely everything she needed, and all her paperwork, and Ron's hand in her other. He looked at her and took the bag from her putting it on the floor.
"Hermione, just forget everything for one second. Just one," he said and kissed her lightly, before hugging her. She did, just for a second. She was just in Ron's arms and knew that they were so safe and strong. When he pulled away she remembered, and grabbed her bag. They apparated to the alley way near the hospital and walked in, up to the Oncology unit. Dr. Wilson was there waiting for them with a serious look on his face. She didn't think she would be able to see him looking too happy any time soon. So as long as he didn't look troubled with bad news, she thought serious was okay.
The nurse came and introduced herself to them both, her name was Lisa. She took Hermione to a room explaining "Chaemotherapy will start today after we insert a line into your chest. It's just so that we can administer the drugs through a more permanent line rather than changing it every few days or weeks."
"More prodding..." Hermione whispered. Next to her Ron squeezed her hand.
Four weeks later Hermione was starting to loose her hair and vomit absolutely everything up. Ron kept coming in with different foods and drinks. Sometimes she could hold it down for a few minutes, other times she would dry retch at the sight or smell of it. Even water started tasting off. She was losing weight and her hair - in small chunks. She would itch her head and pull away a hand full of hair, or wake up in the morning with a new pillowcase of her hair. At the end of her fourth week she was allowed to go back to the Leaky Phial to rest for three days. When they got back there George and Ginny were there. She slowly walked over to them and they embraced each other. They were both wearing beanies and scarfs, and when Hermione pulled away from the hug Ginny took off her beanie, smiling at Hermione with her tear stained cheeks. She was bald.
"Ginny what did you do?" Hermione gasped.
George smiled at her, "Ease up Hermione," he said and took off his beanie. He too was bald.
Hermione shook her head, "What did you do that for?" she asked.
"Well we just wanted you to see how incredible we both look with no hair so that you would feel convinced to let us shave your head too," Ginny said, pulling out some clippers from her bag.
Self consciously, Hermione patted her hair. She kept finding small bald patches through her scalp and cried every time she touched them. It took her a few moments, a few convincing words from Ginny and George, and for Ron to have his head shaved to sit in the chair. Ron shaved it all off, on to the ground. Some handed in her lap which made her cry. Afterwards she had a shower. The water blended with her tears and muffled her cries as her life was tipped upside down and there was nothing she could do, nothing she could read or learn, to make it better. The only way to make it better was to keep going forward and not give up.
Ginny and George stayed a few hours longer. They ordered room service and watched a movie. Ginny and George were fascinated by it, and it offered Hermione comfort from home. She had trouble sleeping that night. Over and over in her head were things she wasn't sure she would ever have - children, a wedding, a job, next year... She had thought that if the doctor told her there was no hope she would just accept the news and go on a long holiday with Ron until the inevitable happened. Dr. Wilson had told her that she would be very susceptible for illnesses now that she hardly had an immune system left. She originally thought she would stay at the Leaky Phial until she needed to go back, to avoid going out in public but the next day they all dragged her down stairs for dinner and a show. It was a dance act this time, followed by stand up comedy. Despite her drooping mood she suprised herself by laughing at some of the jokes - genuinely laughing. She was having fun again. The rest of her time off she spent with Ron, Ginny and George - mainly indoors. They did go for small walks so that they could all get some fresh air, but they didn't go far. When the unfortunate morning came when Hermione was going to go back to Hospital Ginny and George gave her a gift bag.
"It's from everyone at home," Ginny said.
She took out a few packages - there was a home made jumper from Mrs. Weasley with a beanie - both red, and some home made cookies. And there were some new Hogwarts books for her too. Of course she wasn't attending any more but she did love to keep up with the new editions of her favourite books! Ron rolled his eyes, "Just what you need when you're sick - text books!" and she laughed. They all went with her to the Hospital and waited for her to be admitted until Ginny and George kissed and hugged her good bye.
"Another week, here goes," she whispered to herself.[/FONT]

Fantastic post!!
So emotional. Poor Hermione (I know I've said that before, finals have fried my brain and I can't really think of anything original ). Ron is being very supportive and sweet. I'm glad he's going through it with her. And what Ginny and George did was adorable! I know I'd do it for my friends. And it doesn't surprise me that they did it. It makes me wonder if Harry did it, just from afar (or if he tried and his hair grew back ). Did Ron?
Great job!

The Next Step? Part 1: Hermione
Hermione was in the first week of her Chaemotherapy break. She had completed 8 weeks of Induction therapy and was getting blood tests done twice a day. Of course, they didn't hurt - the blood was being taken from her Hickman's line. After her seventh week the blood tests started looking a bit better. Her red blood cells and platelet levels were increasing in number, and the cancerous cells were going down. Just not enough. She was getting better in some ways, but worse in others. Hermione could no longer move without vomiting and as a result she had been kept in hospital. The nurses tried not to move her unless they had to. The worst thing was that she had developed a pressure sore on her heel from laying in the same position for too long. At first it was undetected - the lack of red blood cells meant the redness did not show as a sign on the pressure area. She was also having daily pain medication which masked the pain of the pressure. So as a result, after days of not moving, the skin had broken down and she was left with a large ulcer on her heel. Her medication was increased so she would not feel the pain of the sore, or the pain of the dressings. The nurses had to make sure she changed her position regularly. So after her first week of no Chaemotherapy, Dr. Wilson came in to have a chat with her. He had gotten to know both she and Ron through the past 8 weeks, as he was with her daily. He knew what she liked and didn't like, and that more than anything - she wanted to start planning her wedding.
"Hermione, because of the sore on your heel I'm afraid you must stay in hospital whilst it heels. I know it's now what you wanted but I can't allow you to leave because it's a huge portal for an infection, and you don't have much of an immune system. If... If you develop a cold, or something much worse, it could just push you over the cliff. I'm sorry. We will try to have it heal quickly but until then it's more bed rest and more turning," he said. He was looking at her with no sign of pity. He knew her quite well now, after all the treatment and meetings, and knew she hated people showing her pity. "Oh...," was all she could say.
"Well when can she come home?" Ron asked. He looked Grave. Dr. Wilson had noticed him slowly get thinner and depressed. He stayed in the room with her all day. He didn't even leave to get himself some food. The Nurses, taking pity on him, had made sure he had food taken to him. He rarely ate it though.
Dr. Wilson studied him for a few moments. He was now holding Hermione's hand and struggling to hold in his cries. "I'm sorry, I don't know when. It all depends on how soon Hermione can heal and start to feel a bit stronger. You need to be able to stand up and walk, and hold down food before I discharge you Hermione. I'm not letting you go if you can't move around or eat, I'm sorry," he said, raising his eyebrows. He had seen young ones like Hermione failing to take the Chaemotherapy seriously. He had seen people forget to come to appointments and to have blood taken. He had tested many patients in remission, after letting a week, two weeks... months pass with no tests, only to have to tell them that the cancer is back and more resistant than ever. Many times he has seen patients die. He was determined for Hermione to live.
She nodded her head and grabbed the bucket next to her. Ron moved quick as a ninja to rub her back whilst she retched, and retched, until only a small amount of bile and blood came up. Dr. Wilson handed her a glass of water, which she rinsed her mouth out with. Ron and Dr. Wilson helped her lay down, and placed pillows underneath her legs and on the right side of her back so she was no longer putting pressure on any areas. She fell asleep. Part 2: James Wilson
James left soon after Hermione fell unconscious with sleep. He went to his office, ignoring all the comments coming his way; hello, Dr. Wilson, help, just a moment... He could not talk. Not with the knowledge of Hermione's condition in his mind. He sat at his desk and bit down hard on his lip. He couldn't cry over a patient! It would not be the end. He could still help her. He looked through her files once again, and looked at the tests. Her cancer cells had been going down, but only by a very small percent each week - definitely not enough. Her Red Blood Cells and Platelets were also going up, but only at a very small percent. She did not have the blood results to be able to go home. He also needed to give her another bone marrow biopsy to determine his next move. Then, to make matters worse again, she had developed a pressure sore on her heel. She couldn't walk on it without causing more damage to the skin. She was having frequent dressings, cleanings and lotions applied to the area, and thankfully she couldn't feel it being done. She didn't have many options at her stage, so he was going to suggest another more intense round of chaemotherapy. Seven days of administration, with three days rest, rather than 3 days of administration with 5 days rest. That was possibly her only option. He would also put her name on the waiting list for a Bone Marrow transplant, and ask her to bring her family to be tested. He didn't think she had any siblings though, so the best chance would probably be to put her name on the list.
He made a few calls and her name was there within an hour. He had decided to tell her the informaion that day. He thought she might like it all in one hit raher than take it blow by blow. There was a faint knock at the door, and he got up to answer it. Lisa.
"Hi Lisa, come in," he said, standing aside. She took a seat across from his.
"James I need to say that her boyfriend really isn't coping with this. Hermione is coping better than he is. I wonder if it might be helpful if you have a chat to him about it, and see what is going on with him... maybe give him something, you know?" she said.
He nodded. "I've been thinking about that for a while. I've seen how bad he is getting. I'm really worried about telling them the news..." he said, and told Lisa everything. After all, Lisa was getting to know the two more than he was, and she could give her opinion as to how to tell them.
"Tell them now," she said.
He nodded again and stood up, "Will you join me?" he asked.
They walked out his office and knocked on Hermione's door before walking in. James took a seat at the end of her bed, and Lisa tried to make a fuss. She adjusted her pillow, refilled her glass of water, and neatened her blankets before asking "Are you comfortable?"
James frowned slightly at her, and she stopped. "Hermione, the results aren't good I'm afraid. I didn't want to tell you before, but I think I must now. The results aren't what I had wanted. Although your good cells are slowly increasing, it's not quick enough and I'm afraid we need to begin intensive chaemotherapy soon. I'll start with a month and we will do seven days of administering the drugs, followed by two or three days rest. Three days to begin with, but the results will determine whether it will be a two or three day break. We will do three rounds of that, and then take another biopsy which will ultimately determine whether our next step is consolidation therapy or... or a bone marrow transplant," he said. He felt so horrible having to break this news to her. He looked over and saw Ron's face crumple even more with grief. Now he would have to have a discussion with him. Hermione let a few tears escape from her eyes and nodded.
"I think I knew this was going to be the case," she said. "I just can't move or anything and I would have thought if the results were good I would be feeling better. I'd have good cells to help me feel better. What are my chances?"
He tilted his head to the side in thought, "I don't want to say just yet. It really could go either way Hermione, but your last results might make me think that this intense round should help. But don't get your hopes up."
She reached over and pulled Ron over. He was sitting in the chair and had started to sob. The sounds escaping his mouth were heartbreaking, and Lisa started to cry too. She patted Ron on the back gently before leaving the room. Ron sat next to Hermione on the bed and she held his head over her heart, kissing him and rocking him.
Before long he started to calm down, and he wrapped his arms around Hermione. Dr. Wilson cleared his throat, "Excuse me Ron, would you mind coming with me to my office please? I just want a quick word," he said, and smiled slightly to Hermione. Just to let her know it wasn't about her. Part 3: Ron
Ron somehow found some courage to get off the bed, and walk away from Hermione. He followed Dr. Wilson down to his office and collapsed into the chair. Dr. Wilson didn't sit down across from him, but took the seat next to him. He put his hand on Ron's back. "Ron, me and Lisa are becoming concerned about you. We completely understand how difficult this has been for you, but..." he took a breath, "You're not coping. And we don't really expect you to, but it is worrying us. I want you to ask me any questions you have about anything and I will try to answer them for you. Do you ha-"
"Will she die?" he asked. His eyes pleaded with James Wilson for the answer to be no.
And James wished he could give him the answer he wanted. "Ron, I can't rule that out, because there are shocks and unwanted discoveries in cancer patients all the time. But, with the results as they are now, and the treatment we have lined up, I can say that her chances of surviving are quite high. But there are always complications. And as you have seen, she has one on her heel right now. That's why we need to keep her in here because if she gets an infection it could really change the results."
Ron nodded. He tried to think clearly. He had seen Hermione over the past 8 weeks deteriorating. She had lost all her weight, and was now almost literally skin and bone. She looked Green most of the day, and when she wasn't green she was white. Sometimes she was purple, black and blue, bruises spreading over her entire body. She was so weak, sometimes Ron had to itch her face or put her straw in her mouth for her. He just wanted to be home in their bed. He wanted her to walk down the aisle to him. But would that ever happen?
"Ron would you accept a prescription to an antidepressant if I wrote one for you? I really think you need it," James said.
Ron shook his head, then cried more. He couldn't understand that people were concerned about him. It should be Hermione, but maybe he was doing worse than her. He would have crumpled into a black hole if Hermione didn't still have her cheery spirit.
Moments later he was at the Hospital Pharmacy getting his prescription processed with the muggle money he and Hermione had gathered together. When he went back to the room Hermione was asleep. He fussed over her as much as he could without waking her, to make sure she was comfortable. Then he took out some parchment and a muggle pen and wrote a letter to everyone back at home. Hi Everyone,
Just letting you know Hermione isn't doing too good, but she will be okay. I don't know if I have the courage to write everything down but her results just aren't what they were hoping for. She just needs more treatments and there could be the possibility of a bone marrow transplant.
Love you all,
Ron and Hermione.
The parchment was stained with heavy tears.

Thanks It's terrific knowing my story is liked
It's very sad, and I know that often it's the family/loved ones closest to the patient who suffer silently. That was such a battle trying to write that chapter. I knew roughly what I wanted but it took so many drafts for it to actually sound good.
Next chapter will be much quicker at getting up though, I know the direction I'm going in now!

A Whole lot of planning
Hermione was over the moon! Today she was being discharged from Hospital. After a month of intensive chaemotherapy and multiple daily tests, and after the sore on her heel had completely healed, she was finally leaving! Although she had to be back every week for more follow up tests, she didn't care. She wouldn't be going into the hospital again for chaemotherapy... well, she didn't think so.
"Now Hermione, I'm going to keep your name on the Bone Marrow Transplant waiting list because... occasionally there are unexpected complications as I know you are well aware. Hopefully we will never have to rely on it, but is a back up. Now, once a week - every Wednesday, you will come back for more tests. If at any time the results show further cancer growth you will need to come back for more Chaemotherapy. But provided you don't have any more cells, it will go down to fortnightly, monthly, and yearly. But to begin with it must be done weekly. Do you understand?" he asked sternly. He did not want Hermione to take this lightly. One week he might be able to detect just a few cancer cells, but undetected, a months later she could be incurable. She needed to understand.
"Dr. Wilson I completely understand," she said, smiling through her hollow looking face, and holding up the giant bag of prescriptions, medications, pamphlets, appointment cards, and contact numbers. It was sitting on her lap, and she was in a wheel chair - being wheeled out by Lisa and Dr. Wilson. They stopped outside and were chatting, the four of them, when a bright orange car drove up to the side of the road in front of them, scraping the wheels against the gutter as it pulled in. Hermione looked up frowning to see who it was, then yelled out "RON! IT'S YOUR PARENTS!!"
Ron smiled, "I know, who else would come and get us?" he said.
Hermione laughed with teary eyes as Lisa helped her out of the wheelchair. Molly was standing with her arms open, and Hermione, about a fifth of the size of Molly, fell into them. Molly gave her a gentle hug, not wanting to crush her bones, and helped her ease into the back seat next to Ron.
One of the conditions for discharge from the hospital was that they needed to be picked up by someone, because Hermione would not be allowed to walk all that way. Getting nervous they had no plan for transportation, Ron had sent an owl home explaining the situation to his dad and asking what to do. Arthur never replied, because a week later Arthur and Molly arrived at the Leaky Phial with their new car. Ron was so relieved to both see his parents, and have a way of getting Hermione home without needing to let slip about their world, that he cried. Molly took her son into one of her healing hugs, and kissed him on his head. "Ron, not to worry. She is doing much better. Your father and I are very proud of you for the way you have handled this. We know how hard it is," she said, holding his face between her hands. The family hugged for quite some time, then spoke about everything in great detail.
Back at the Leaky Phial, Mrs. Weasley had a big pink box on the table with a big yellow bow around it. It was huge! Molly sat in the lounge and said "Come over, dear, we have something for you," and Hermione went and sat down on the floor in front of the box. She thought it might be too heavy to move. She took off the lid of the box and paused, looking over everything. Inside was a pile of muggle Bridal magazines, a wedding planning book, and a photo album containing wedding photos of many people she knew, including sme of her old Hogwarts Professors, Molly and Arthur, Lupin and Tonks, and even Lily and James. Of course her mother's and grandmother's photo was in here, and she smiled at them. They were still muggle photos, unlike the others. It was then that she looked at what was underneath the books and magazines. It was white, and she pulled the magazines out to look at it. Pulling it out of the box was her grandmother's wedding dress. The one she had grown up saying "This is what I will wear when I'm married."
Her mother was worried, of course, because they had no idea where it was. Her grandmother died only a few years ago, but nobody in the family had seen the dress. Hermione had planned to either find one similar or get it made.
"How did- Where was it?" she asked Molly.
Smiling her usual warm smile, Molly said "I think that is a story for your mother to tell you."
Hermione looked back at the white dress that would make her feel like a princess. It was strapless, which back then was quite unheard of. But it came with a lace top that went over it, which was a separate of course. It wasn't a bit poofy dress like the usual dress, but it was nice and fit, made of white silk and lace. When it hit her waist it bloomd out. It was the kind of dress that could fit 10 petticoats under, but looked better without them. Behind her would be a long but simple silk train.
"We will also be taking you out in a fortnight to get it fit, just in case it is too big. And, we will be taking you out shopping to look at Bridesmaid dresses, shoes... oh well everything you want," Molly said.
"Thank you so much... so much!" she said. "I... I've spent the last 3 months waiting and waiting to start thinking about planning our wedding but could never start." She grabbed the top bridal magazine and opened it. There was her next shock! It was old, very old. The dress on the front was the same dress that was in her lap. And on the cover, smiling, was her Grandparents on their wedding day. She remembered her mother telling her the story about how the photographer had been sneaky and sent a photo of the couple off to a bridal magazine, after falling in love with her dress. The editors had decided to run it on the front cover. Flipping through it, she saw different shoes and accessories that would match the dress, and she was finally where she wanted to be, after three months of poisonous medications and hospital stays. Could she be happier?

| I'll be defying gravity April 29th!!!
Absolutely wonderful! I am so happy she's on her way to recovery... I just hope it stays that way, cuz I know with cancers (and esp. leukemia) they can come back after years of remission (my mom works with cancer patients, that's how I know, thank goodness I have never been through it).
That dress sounds absolutely and completely GORGEOUS!! I would so want to wear it!
So happy for Hermione!

Yeah I feel bad for Ron, he is feeling it the worst, considering what Hermione is going through.
I'll be writing more very soon

The Wedding Dress
Hermione woke early that morning. She wasn't too fast these days, so she took her time pulling herself up to sit in bed. Slowly, she pulled the covers back, and separated her legs one at a time to slide off the bed. She rubbed her eyes and yawned and had a look at the time. Then she slowly shuffled forwards until her feet made contact with the ground. When she felt the familiar coldness, she pulled herself slowly off the bed, and stepped into her slippers, and put on her robe. She slowly made her way down stairs, grasping onto the railings for support. When she reached the bottom step, she stopped for a few moments, swaying side to side. After the threatened faint had passed, she shuffled her legs forward to the kitchen, where a fresh pot of coffee was waiting for her.
"Ron?" she croaked. He hadn't been in bed. "Ron?"
"Hey!" Ginny said, walking into the kitchen. Her hair was wet and she had one of their big towels wrapped and tucked over her body. She pulled a chair out and helped Hermione sit down, then got out her favourite mug and poured the coffee in. "Here, drink," she said firmly putting it down in front of her, and going to the spare room.
"Ron?" Hermione asked a bit louder, but there was nothing. She ran her hands through her barley there hair, and yawned again. "OH MY GOSH!" She yelled. She had completely forgotten.
"WHAT? What's wrong? Where does it hurt?" Ginny asked, running into the room, with her pants in her hand.
Hermione looked over and up at Ginny. "I'm... today?" she gasped.
She smiled, "Yes silly, today you are getting married!"
Hermione turned back and drank her coffee, whilst Ginny pulled her pants on and tugged the brush through her hair.
They sat down together and had a small breakfast, before the doorbell rang. Ginny hopped up to go and answer it - it was Hermione's mother and father, her cousin and her baby. Idina walked in and lent down to give Hermione a kiss and hug, then gave her Lucy, who was one. Hermione gave Lucy a big hug and kiss, and said "Lucy Cabootie you are SO BIG! Yes you are," and gave her some more hugs.
"Hi darling," her mother said. Both parents bent to greet her. Ginny got them all a mug of coffee, and made a decaf for Idina, who pulled out a bottle of expressed milk and heated it in the microwave.
The doorbell rang again and this time Hermione stood up to answer it. It was Luna, who wandered in and said "Hello Hermione, you look very tired. I do hope you wake up soon," and gave her a warm hug, which lingered a moment more than most people's hugs. This was something Hermione loved about Luna.
"Hi Luna, come in!"
They went to the kitchen, where the chatter had become louder, and Hermione went to the medication drawer to pull out her tablets to have. There were a lot, and it took her almost 10 minutes to swallow them; one, by one.
After another half hour, Fleur, baby Victorie, Angelina, baby Fred, the hairstylist and makeup artist had arrived. The children were all playing together, or asleep, as Ginny, Hermione, Idina and Luna got ready. They had their hair in loose ringlets, and their makeup simple with dark eyes. Then it came time for getting dresses on.
The bridesmaid dresses were silk, long, very thin strapped, and deep red. They lung to the girls figures and hung off them once it reached the waist. Hermione put on her Grandmother's wedding dress. It needed to be altered, because Hermione had lost far too much weight to fill it in. The bodice was cut into a sweetheart style, and was quite tight until it reached her waist, where it flowed out and rested perfectly around her.
She descended the stairs with her bridesmaids in front of her, and everyone stopped and watched her, with tears flowing down their faces. They all looked so different and beautiful blended together; Ginny with her long red hair, Luna with her long blonde hair, Idina with her long black hair, and Hermione with her short brown hair. But then it hit her again. The faint that was threatening to ruin her day.
