“Go ahead Adriana.” I said. “I’m listening.” She sighed impatiently, clearly I’d done something, but I didn’t know what, exactly. I never did, and her ways were so confusing. She was typically popular, there was no denying she was obviously pretty, and she didn’t hide it, but she was unique. And extremely pushy. “You want to ask me something.” There was no hesitation in her voice, this was not a question, Adriana said it as a statement of fact. “I do?” I asked, amused. “When I figure out this riddle of yours, I’ll get back to you.” She always left you guessing. Always. “It’ll come to you,” Adry smiled, seemingly enjoying herself. “Hey guys,” she said, smiling at James, Remus and Peter before turning around and walking back towards her friends. James whistled, looking at me. “Adriana Taylor, eh? You have a thing for her, she probably wants you to leave her alone.” He laughed. “Yeah, right.” I rolled my eyes. “I don’t have a thing for her, and she’s talking to me, not you, y’know.” I said. “Just showing that I'm much more attractive than you, but I don't need proof to know that. Any girl who aren't infatuated with me, are crazy." "Kyla doesn't like you." "I already know she's crazy, James. But she probably secretly likes me, anyway." Remus was quite used to our bantering, and he looked at us with raised eyebrows. “If you want to maybe stop arguing over who is better looking, you’d notice the nearly empty common room.” I looked around and saw what Moony had said; there was now hardly anyone in the common room. It had gone from being packed full with all the Gryffindors, to about ten or so others still in the common room, leaving. “Where’s everybody gone?” James asked, speaking the words in my head. Remus sighed in a resigned way. “You really don’t know, do you?” He asked, but it was more of a rhetorical question. “C’mon, there’s something down at the hall.” Peter had no clue either, but he never did, so I didn’t really pay any attention. “It wouldn’t hurt to listen to Dumbledore just once. It’s actually important sometimes.” Remus said, he and James on either side of me as I walked from the common room. Peter trailed closely behind us. “No, it would. Concentrating too hard is bad for my health.” |

“What’s happening though, anyway?” James asked, Remus really never had given a proper answer. “Nobody knows. It’s just Dumbledore being, well... Dumbledore. In the opening feast he told us we had to come down here, he didn’t say why.” “Huh.” I said, exchanging a glance with James. “Probably something crazy, knowing Dumbledore.” We made it into the Great Hall and took a seat at the Gryffindor table. I was curious as to what it was; it seemed like something that wasn’t usual. “Students,” Dumbledore said, silencing the murmuring of everyone. “I presume you are wondering why I have called you here on such a pleasant evening?” He chuckled, his blue eyes twinkling, and went on. “I am very pleased to announce that in the near future we will be having guests in our halls.” Chatter started to pick up again and I turned to the others, but Dumbledore had started again. “Now, now. I must ask you to hold your thoughts and questions for the moment, they will all be answered. I am sure you have all heard of the ball that will soon be held here, and I hope you are all as excited as I am.” “It will be a wonderful event, I can assure you, but it is also in celebration of our guests, and that Hogwarts will be hosting it. It will be like an exchange, a few students from different schools from around the world will be coming here to Hogwarts; it will be a great learning experience, a chance to meet new friends and people from different places. I hope they will be able to fit in, and we will do our best efforts to make them feel welcome, as they will join us in classes and any other activities here. You may now talk amongst yourselves.” “What do you think?” I grinned. “It sounds pretty cool, eh?” James nodded in agreement. Remus looked like he was thinking about something, but he nodded absently, smiling. “I wonder how many different schools this will involve, this certainly will be very interesting.” |
That sounds fun! /wishes she was at Hogwarts with Sirius PAMS! Great job! |

They were to arrive a week from now and the school buzzed with anticipation. They were all excited to see who would come and for the ball that would occur after their arrival. It was a few days after Dumbledore’s announcement and I was in the Great Hall with Remus because he had to do prefect duty. He was watching over the decorating. Peter had gotten out of helping by saying that he had some work he needed to finish. Yeah, right. Like Peter was doing work. And James... He was pestering Lily. I didn’t understand it myself; Lily didn’t like him, so there wasn’t much point. But each to his own. It turned out I didn’t really end up helping anyway, I’d cause more trouble than I’d be helpful, so Remus didn’t bother. I only wanted to make the suits of armor have sword fights with each. I couldn’t see anything wrong with that. “It must be such a dilemma for you, Black.” I knew it was her before I saw her. It was not a good thing, I could always tell it was Kyla, and it was never a good thing. “What are you doing here?” “I might ask the same thing. No one in his or her right mind would put you in any responsible position. Though I don’t know how anyone in his or her right mind would be able to fall for you either, so there you go. But none of those girls are in their right mind.” “What dilemma, anyway?” I asked, choosing to ignore her comment. She was just jealous. “So many girls, it must be so hard to choose which one to cling onto you, for the ball.” Kyla said, full with sarcasm. I smirked. “I guess you’ll just have to wait and see. But why limit it to just one?” I said, mostly for her reaction. It was exactly what I thought; her face changed into a look of disgust. This conversation made something click, however. I know realized what Adry had wanted; she seemed to expect me to ask her to the ball, or something. She could get most of any boy she wanted to go with her, so it was a very good thing. Adriana was the girl every guy wanted beside them, she was different, I suppose, but she was the prettiest you could find. I smiled. “You are just... I really can’t stand you, Black.” She threw her hair over her shoulder theatrically, turning from me. It took me a moment to come back from my thoughts and the conversation, by which time Kyla had stormed off. She was going, of course, to her boyfriend. Kyla was hypocritical; she was dating Ravenclaw’s prefect and Quidditch Captain. Mr oh-so-perfect. He was a prat. “Hey, what’d I miss?” James asked, walking back again. “Only Sirius and Kyla.” Remus said in such a way that implied this was a usual occurrence. It was true; I did always bicker with Kyla. But something about what he said bothered me; I couldn’t explain it, either. James rolled his eyes. “Are you going to keep trying, or will you find another girl to take to the ball?” I asked James, he knew I was referring to Lily. “She wants to go with me, she just doesn’t want to show it, but she does, trust me.” “She’s doing a pretty good job.” I said, a little bit skeptical. James always seemed to have faith in this theory but Lily far from showed it, it was the opposite effect. I usually felt bad for him; he needed to get over whatever it was that he had for Lily. |
*Dies of laughter over James theory* *revives herself so she can comment* AWESOME! LOL.... So... Sirius.. GO ASK THAT GIRL! Not Kyla, the other one.. A girl... Lol *slaps herself for a bad memory* Adriana.. Yea that one.. lol.. Go ask her Sirius |
