We all turned on Remus now. That was what should have happened, anyway. It was not, in fact, what did happen. I turned to Remus to get an explanation out of him, but James was probably thinking about Lily coming to the party, because he wasn’t paying attention to Remus. But centaurs could’ve rampaged through the great hall and Peter wouldn’t have noticed, he was too busy with his food. So when Remus answered, it was only to me. “Well, I was in the library.” He said, and he glanced down the table before he looked back at me. “But I was there with Melissa.” He said, and I raised an eyebrow. By now James had snapped back into reality and was looking and Remus curiously. “Melissa, eh? Go on.” He said, matching my expectant look. Remus chuckled. “I’m going to the ball with her, and that’s it.” “How long have you been going to the ball with her?” I questioned Remus. Because I wondered why he was just telling us now. “Since we were told about it,” Remus admitted with a sheepish smile. “Why didn’t you tell us?” I asked, with a somewhat small frown. It was strange that Remus wouldn’t tell us. I didn’t think he’d had a proper girlfriend before, but still. We told each other these things, right? “It just didn’t come up,” Remus said, but I knew this wasn’t true. We’d talked about it quite a lot, and now that I thought about it, Remus had always found a way to avoid talking about it. Before I could question Remus on this, he gave me a look to just trust him and not ask. I was confused, but I didn’t ask. I’d find out later, I wasn’t very concerned with it. I was more interested in bombarding him with questions about Melissa, for instance. “Are you dating? Do you like her? Are you like James?” I asked, partly curious, but mostly I just wanted to tease him. James watched Remus for an answer, too, not seeming to be at all offended by what I said. Remus laughed, rolling his eyes. He was more back to his usual self, now. “Technically, no. And yes, I do like her.” He said, his eyes happy. The kind of happy like when we found out he was a werewolf and still thought he was cool. “As for James, I really hope I’m not like him.” He joked. Now James took offense. Sorta. “Hey! That would be an honor if you were like me.” He said, smirking. I laughed. “Yeah. Right.” |

I love these boys and their friendship to one another. They are so loyal to each other that even what they are thinking is important to them. (Except Peter. I'll never understand how he became friends with them.) Great post. I'll be watching for more. |
Hehe Remus is so sneaky :shifty: The brains of a Ravenclaw and the heart of a Gryffie. :D....but shifteh like a Slythy :shifty:  It always perks up my day to read your work. :D |

I am SOSOSOSO sorry guys! I have no time to be on SS at all these days. =( But I really want to finish this fic and I don't want it to die so I'll post whenever I can, like now! Again, sorry for being such a lousy writer. =( _____________ James and me teased Remus mercilessly, but I was happy for him. He had a girlfriend, and a date, no less. I just had to tease him – it was only fair. I’d teased James endlessly about Lily. “One day, Sirius, you’ll find a girl and you will be the one being teased.” Remus said, with a smile on his face. “And I look forward that day.” James grinned at the idea. “And you’ll wish you never teased us.” “Oh, like that’s ever going to happen.” I rolled my eyes at both them. It was so ridiculous that I didn’t even need to be defensive. It was insanity. “I’m never going to fall in love.” “You’ll be eating you own words.” Remus said. “Trust me, that’s not going to happen.” I laughed, confident with that thought. James headed to the common room door, on his way to meet Sirius. He ran his hand through his hair with a grin of anticipation, but he quickly stopped in his tracks. “Hey Lily.” He said, trying to appear as cool as possible. “Hello James.” She said politely, trying to walk quickly past him. “Lily.” James said, grabbing her arm to stop her before she could get away. “Why won’t you even talk to me?” He asked. “I am talking to you, I said hello.” She said, shaking her arm from his grip and walking past him and up to the girls’ dorm before he could get to her again. James frowned. Most of the time Lily would be defiant, or be lecturing and telling him off for things. He was used to that, also all her rejections. She was always around to be all prefect-y. But now he hardly ever saw her anyway, and whenever he did see her it was like she could hardly stand being around him for more then a few seconds. He shrugged, deciding he’d ask Sirius or Remus about it later, and he stepped out of the common room. Remus was smart about lots of things, and Sirius was just used to the strange ways that girls’ minds work. Not that anyone could really understand them completely. “It’s about time you’re here.” I said when James finally walked through the door. “Uh yeah. I bumped into Lily.” He said sounding a bit strange. “Everything alright?” I asked, sitting down on a couch and looking at my friend. I liked teasing him and everything, but I listened to his problems. “She was acting – strange. Different to usual around me, like she couldn’t even stand being around me for like, five seconds.” “Are you sure you haven’t done anything to upset her, you know that happens a lot.” I chuckled. “No, it wasn’t like that. She hardly even looked at me.” “I’m sure it’s nothing. I can talk to her if you want, though?” I grinned at James who just laughed. “Yeah, like that’s a good idea.” |
ANA! -tackleglomp- :glomp: I loved it, as always! And of course I'd never leave the fic! I understand how busy RL gets; trust me. Aww, James... :console: Lily'll come around. PamsPammyPammers! ~ Mel |

I'M BACK! xD Everyone had finally come; even Lily, and I smiled to myself as I looked around the room. Everything was as James and I had planned, and everyone had come. I walked over to a table with drinks on it, and saw the person I didn’t want to see here. “What are you doing here?” I asked Kyla, frowning blatantly. “That’s the problem with an open invite, you can’t keep out the people you don’t like from coming.” I rolled my eyes; she talked to me like I was five, which, more or less, I am, but still. “Fine then, why do you want to be here?” I knew the feeling of dislike was mutual, and she didn’t seem like the partying type. “I don’t have to give you a reason.” Kyla said, her eyes glancing away to the middle of the room, but in a matter of seconds she looked away again. I could even notice that, and I looked over in the same direction. My eyes fell on Sebastian Blackwood talking to a Ravenclaw. It didn’t make sense, but I didn’t even get the chance to tease Kyla about her Mr. Perfect boyfriend before she was pushing past me like I had done something. “Everything okay?” Aaron asked appearing beside me. “Yeah, I have no idea what that was about.” I said shrugging. “I don’t really care.” “You don’t care?” Aaron asked, a suggestive tone in his voice. “Uh, no. I really don’t.” I said, not knowing what Aaron was saying. I didn’t have to think about it anymore because Clarisa came over then. “Hey Sirius.” She smiled. Clarisa looked over at Aaron then, seeing that he was there. “Hi, Aaron right?” She asked. “Yes.” Aaron smiled. “Nice to see you again when Sirius here isn’t breaking the rules.” “You never know, I probably am. I might’ve spiked the punch.” I teased. “James wants to know where his partner in crime is, and I think that you owe me a dance.” Clarisa smiled, walking back into the crowd. I turned to Aaron and saw him watching Clarisa. “Ask her.” I said giving him a grin. “What?” He asked, looking back at me. “Ask her to the ball.” I repeated. “We’re just friends, and you like her, don’t you?” I asked. “I’ve recently discovered that some girls are really fun to be around without needing to flirt with them.” It didn’t make sense to me; I just knew I wanted to stay her friend. Aaron laughed. “I might.” “Good.” I said, walking into the crowd after Clarisa. I found her, and held at my hand. “As promised.” I grinned. After a few fun dances with Clarisa, I led her over to where Aaron was standing, watching the room. “Aaron would like to dance with you now.” “But—” Aaron started, but I wasn’t listening. I was disappearing into the crowd before he could argue. I was own my way to find James, but I paused when I saw Lily. “Hey Lils.” I said as easily as if we hung out all the time. “What’s up?” She sighed softly. “Why did I even come here?” She asked. “Because you wanted to see James.” I couldn’t help suggesting it, he was my best friend and it was pretty sad seeing him chasing Lily around like a lost puppy. “I’ve been trying not to think that.” Lily said. I hadn’t been prepared for this. Dancing, flirting with girls, setting up my friends, playing pranks, that was easy. But talking emotional stuff with the girl my best friend was head over heels for? Hardly. I couldn’t escape now; I just hoped she wouldn’t start asking me questions. It did occur me as very strange. Lily had been acting weird lately, but if she was sane at all, I’d be the last person anyone would come to about relationship advice, surely? “It’s been easy, because James is so arrogant, I would never like that. But they way he looks at me, it’s different now.” Lily said. “Oh, Why?” I asked, giving quick glances around the room. I needed to find someone, anyone, before Lily started expecting a real answer. I tried thinking about what James would do, before realising that wasn’t such a great idea. Instead, I tried picturing what Clarisa would do. “James isn’t so bad,” I said, hoping James would just come over here. “That’s the problem. It’s like he’s different now, like there are things that are important to him, rather than just being idiotic, immature and arrogant all the time. It’s like he’s different now.” That sparked something in my mind. James was still James, but he was certainly different, older. He was growing more mature, slowly. “He is growing up,” I said, looking around. I couldn’t pretend that I knew what I was talking about for much longer. |
SORRY! I'm honestly the worst writer everrrrrr. I've probably said that before, but now I'm even worse. :faint: I know, is it even possible? It is. Hello Ana. I'm so happy you re-activated this ff. It's refreshing and wonderfully written. I love this story. Please don't cut yourself down. It's degrating and an insult to yourself and your readers. If you write so terribly, then what does that make us, your readers, but a bunch of idiots who don't know a great story when we read one. :P You're a very talented writer. Believe it, it's the truth. I sighed with relief. James was coming this way, like he had read my mind and he was coming to save me. “Sirius, I’ve been wondering where you’ve been.” James said, glancing at Lily. “Hey Lily.” He smiled. “Oh, James, uh, I’ve gotta go.” Lily said hurriedly, disappearing into the crowd so quickly I didn’t even see which way she went. James sighed. “Did she say something to you?” He asked. “Uh..” I hesitated. I wasn’t even sure what Lily was saying, or what she meant, exactly. “C’mon James.” I said, looking at my friend’s face. James looked at Sirius. “Yeah?” “We’re out our awesome party, surrounded by exchange girls. Lily will come around, for now lets have some fun.” I said. Slowly, a grin came onto James’ face. “Have you seen Remus around?” I asked. James shrugged. “No, he’s probably with Melissa.” He smirked, drawing out her name. I chuckled. “Probably.” My eyes travelled the room, and they landed Remus and Melissa, sitting on one of the various couches around the room. “C’mon.” I said, walking over to them. “How are you two, all mushy?” I teased them. “You say that now, Sirius.” Remus said, shaking his head. “But one day, and one day soon, you’ll be taking back those words.” He smiled. “You keep dreaming of that day, Remus, because it’s simply not going to happen. Sorry to disappoint.” I smiled, glancing at the party, and I saw Kyla eating chips at one of the food tables. She was everywhere, all the time, it seemed. “Or maybe there already is someone, and Sirius doesn’t realise it yet.” Melissa said, smirking. I looked back at the people in front of me and laughed. “Not even close.” “He’s in denial.” James whispered, knowing that I could hear him anyway. I rolled my eyes. This was starting to be a little ridiculous. “Okay then, if I’m in denial, who is it? Who is this person that I’m supposedly in love with?” Just the way that sounded coming from my mouth sounded silly. “We wouldn’t want to ruin it for you.” Remus smiled. “Or you just have no idea because there isn’t anybody.” I said, leaning back comfortably. “You’re really no fun.” James said. “You’re not even worried at the idea because you just know it’s impossible. It makes it rather hard to teas you about it, y’know.” The party was successful. People were dancing and everyone else were just hanging around the food, drinks and everywhere else. Remus had Melissa and even James seemed to be having fun when he left to get himself a drink. “Sirius,” Melissa said. “Have you seen Lils? She just vanished.” “Uh, yeah. She was talking about James and... Confusing stuff. Then James came over and she disappeared. She probably went back to the common room.” I said. “Yeah, she probably has.” Melissa said, frowning ever so slightly. “Everything alright, Mel?” Remus asked, looking at her with concern. “Everything’s fine.” She smiled, jumping up off of the couch. “C’mon Remus, lets dance.” She grinned, holding out her hand. Remus stared at her, eyes wide. “B-but –” he looked at me, as if for my help. I just grinned. “Pleaseee, Remus? You have to dance with me at the ball anyway.” She pulled him off the couch and unwillingly into the middle of the room. “What’s going on?” James said, sitting back down. “Mel is making Remus dance.” I smiled. |
