The name? I decided I wanted the name to be special and meaningful, but also something that sounded beautiful, too, but I wasn't sure what that could be. I was looking around at songs 'cause they give me inspiration and found the name.

So yeah, but it also has a meaning to the story that I have in my head.

Saturday morning, before James was holding the tryouts for Quidditch, we were down by the lake. It was sunny, and nearly all of the school were outside.

“C’mon Remus, do you ever put that book down?” I said, rolling my eyes at him. “Relax, it’s the weekend.” Usually James would’ve agreed with me, but his thoughts were somewhere else.

“Evans! Hey,” James had his signature cocky grin, looking at Lily. She was walking across the grass, arms linked with Katelyn Brown and Lily’s eyes flicked to James, irritated. She muttered something to Katie, taking a few steps towards James.

“Will you go to the ball with me, Evans?”

“I figure that by now, you do know my answer?” She asked coolly, but her calm composure was a bit forced. James just flashed such a charming smile that would make any other girl swoon. Not Lily.

“Sadly, I’m mistaken.” Everyone was watching now, and Lily was aggravated when she spoke again. “My answer has, is, and always will be, no, Potter. Even if you never tire of asking, the answer will be the same.”

“Oh Lily, I wont.” James said, still grinning. “And I’ll never tire of hearing your voice, either.” He took his eyes away from her for a second to look at me, and I returned his grin.

I had always wanted her to like James, for his sake. But as James never stopped asking her, Lily’s resolve of always saying no hadn’t changed so far, and why would it change now?

Lily’s eyes lit up with anger, and she turned from James, storming back to Katie who seemed to try to calm her, to no prevail.

“That went well.” I said, looking at James. He just carried on grinning, messing up his hair. When Lily was there it never bothered him that she hated him, or that she was endlessly rejecting him.

“I’m going down to the pitch now, anyway, you guys coming?”

Then there's the man I will not name that needs to die..

Lily (obviously) said no James, just give up... lol

“I can’t believe so many people from the team left last year.” James said.

“Don’t worry, you’ll find new people.” I said. Gryffindor had won the last three years that James had been apart of the team, but winning this year would mean everything to him. He was not only part of the team now, but the Captain.

“I still don’t understand why you’ll never try out. You’d be a great Chaser, Sirius.” James said, with a grin, though I knew he was perfectly serious, even a bit hopeful. He saw me play Quidditch with him at his house in the summers, and he always asked me this.

I shrugged. “I already get enough attention.” This was not completely true, not really. I did get enough attention, probably, but I didn’t really mind if I got more. It just wasn’t my thing, playing on the team.

A gaggle of giggling girls seemed to just appear, interrupting my thoughts. One of them stepped forward to James, she looked determined, a girl on a mission.

“Hello James,” she said, moving even closer to him. “I thought that maybe after the Quidditch trials, we could talk a walk by the lake.” She batted her eyelashes, clearly doing her best to be flirtatious with him.

James smiled. “I’m afraid I can’t, I have... Other places I need to be, Miss...” He said smoothly, and caught my gaze, winking mischievously. I laughed.

“With who?!” She demanded, put out by this. My laughter carried on, Peter mimicking me, but she paid us both no notice.

James grinned. “Sirius. I’m hanging out with Sirius.” That was mostly truthful. Because we would be together.

She gave me a contemptuous look that clearly showed that, if I had not been popular, she’d have something to say about me being chosen over her.

I smirked.

The next look she gave me was very disdainful. I wondered if I’d done something to annoy her prior to this. Probably.

After she had left with her friends, I glanced at James. He’d been popular enough already; his status of Captain increased that.

James grinned, looking cocky. But there seemed to be something underlying that, I couldn’t quite place it.

We’d got down to the stands and Moony and Wormtail had said goodbye and drifted off towards the stands. I was just about to follow them.

“It’ll be fine, Prongs.” I said. “You’ve still got Williams and Hayden, you’ll find some others.” A smirk came to my lips once more. “Besides, now even more girls will be chasing you.”

James laughed, entertained. “True, Padfoot.” He agreed. “See you later.” Prongs winked, a mischievous look in his eyes before we parted, him to the pitch and me to the stands.

I was almost walking up to the stands when I heard her laugh, and the two of them were walking my way. In an instant Kyla’s smile vanished replaced with a cold look that she was custom to giving me. With the look on her face it was hard to remember that only a moment ago she’d been laughing at something.

So we both hated each other, but Kyla’s look made me feel as if I’d done something wrong that made her angry with me. Which I hadn’t, and I’d be pleased if I had, anyway.

Beside her was her boyfriend. Sebastian Blackwood. I didn’t like him for many reasons, not just because he was Kyla’s boyfriend, though it was a very good reason. He just tried to get James and me in trouble whenever he could and he was just a snob. The kind of pureblood’s I really hated, though he was not as bad as a Slytherin.

“Kylie,” I said. I did not bother to greet Blackwood.

“What do you want?” Kyla asked, crossing her arms in front of her chest. “And it’s KYLA. K-Y-L-A.” She said crossly. I wondered if I’d interrupted them having a moment. I smirked, hoping that I had.

Blackwood did not seem pleased to see me, either, but he never was. He just didn’t like James and me, the way we didn’t like him.

“Nothing.” I said. “But while you’re here, I hope both of you are looking forward to James beating you, Blackwood. Because he will.” Before he could reply, I walked past the two, I caught a glance at Sebastian before I left, and he didn’t look pleased. He hated that Gryffindor continued to win. I got up to the stands where Remus and Peter sat. I sat down beside Moony, grinning.

“Hey, I miss anything?”

Tehee. That's funny, because I was just thinking about that this morning before I came onto my laptop. So yes, there will be some Regulus, and probably some Sevvy, too. And maybe some Malfoy, I feel like writing about Slythies, it seems.

When I’d got up there, James had organised everyone, got rid of any first years or other houses that were hanging around, and was getting ready to test the Chaser’s. There was Melissa Hayden and James who were already Chasers, so the only needed one person to fill in the spot of the last chaser.

It was pretty easy for James to pick out a Chaser and one Beater because Chester Williams was already one. It took him longer with finding a seeker; they were such an important player in Quidditch.

Eventually there was everyone. With James, Melissa and Chester, were Amelia Mayes, Leonard Matthews and Riley Tailor.

When we all walked back to the castle, James was proud, to say the least. He was arrogant, too, but why wouldn’t he be? He’d never doubted that he’d be captain, but he loved it now that he was.

We got into the Entrance hall when I stopped, and James did the same. “We’ll see you guys later, we’ve got some matters to attend to.” I smirked, mischief glinting in my eyes.

“You’ll see when you come down for the feast.” James added. Tonight all of the exchange students would be arriving, and oh was it going to be good.

Remus opened his mouth to say something, then he closed it again, thoughtful. “Actually, I think I’d rather not know. Until I have to.” He sighed.

“C’mon, cheer up, Moony!” I said, grinning. Moony and Wormtail left to go back to the common room, and I turned to look at Prongs.

“Want to go to the kitchen first?” I asked. We had a bit of time until the feast, anyway, so we didn’t need to rush, and I was hungry.

“Sure,” James agreed with a grin.

We knew all the ins and outs of Hogwarts. We knew all the secret passages and shortcuts, the secret rooms and forbidden places. Naturally. We knew everything there was to know in Hogwarts.

But the kitchens didn’t seem like somewhere forbidden, though I didn’t count any place as forbidden. But the kitchens were easy to get to, and the elves just gave the food away. James and I would go there if there was a party, or if we were just hungry.

“You’re just going to keep on trying, with Lily, aren’t you?” I asked, walking in the direction of the kitchens and the Hufflepuff common room.

James looked at me, and nodded, smirking. “Yes, I am.” He said.

“What if it comes around to the ball, and she still says no? You’re not actually going alone, are you?” I asked, raising my eyebrows. That was not like James, and only people who could not find dates went alone.

“She wants to dance with me, Padfoot. She does.” Prongs said, and although it was him being confident his voice sounded more mature, somehow. Serious. “But if she doesn’t realise this truth by the dance, yes, I will ask someone. All the arrivals are coming tonight, even more selection.” He grinned.

“This truth? I don’t doubt you, mate. All the girls want you to ask them, but this is Lily.” I said. His joy from the Quidditch trials had covered this, but I noticed now that Prongs was in a strange mood.

“She’ll realise it, Padfoot. Trust me on this.” He said, and I finally understood. I had never experienced love, only attraction. I felt that now, I understood, when I looked at my best friend.

Lily was not simply some crush. He was not just determined because she was the only one who would refuse him. He loved her. James Potter was in love with Lily Evans.

“Good luck, Prongs, you’re going to need it.” If Lily would not go to the ball with James, I knew he’d go with someone else who was very pretty. James would have fun, he’d be himself, but he would think about Lily the whole time.

“You really are smitten.” I said. James laughed. I’d never taken him very seriously when he said that he loved her.

We were now walking down the deserted corridor where the portrait was, and James tickled the pear, opening it, so we could get inside. We both grinned, stepping inside.

“What about you? Made up your mind?” James asked, but that was all he could do, before four house elves arrived in front of us.

“Mr. Potter, Mr. Black, welcome back!” One of them said. “We are so very pleased you are here. You would like to sit down and have some tea or coffee perhaps, or some biscuits, I’m sure. Anything else you want, too.” Another said, and they lead James and me to a couch, were we happily sat down.

We didn’t need to answer; they had already left to get us anything that we desired.

I grinned at James again. I loved these house elves, unlike Kreacher; they enjoyed themselves, and wanted to be hospitable.

“Uh, yeah. Adriana.” I said, answering James’ question.

“Right. What’s with you two, anyway? She’s gorgeous.” James said, looking at me questioningly.

“Nothing. She’s gorgeous, you’re right, but we don’t date, as such. Not my type.” I’d taken her to Hogsmeade sometimes, but neither of us were really attracted to each other. We were just friends.

I knew that everyone would seem astounded, of course. For me to not like such a pretty girl was a strange thing, indeed. But I didn’t like her. James knew that, I'd told him before. It seriously didn't make sense to me, I thought that attractive was my type.

She’d be fun to dance with, though.

“No one catching your eye, then?” James asked, still curious. “I’m just shocked that Adriana isn’t your type, though.”

“You turn down plenty of girls.” I reminded him. “And what would you do if she asked you to be her boyfriend?” Elves were coming back with refreshments and food now.

“True.” He agreed. “But the girls I turn down are not Adriana. And you’re not in love with anyone.” James paused. “You’re not, are you?”

“No, no way.” I laughed.
