Whether you like to have a well-thumbed version of a classic tome, prefer to be seen as an intense scholar with well-read books, or even if you are less fortunate than most and don’t have as much money to splash out on books for school or recreational books, this is the shop you have been looking for.
When you first enter, the scent of old books is almost over-powering, though, almost surprisingly, there isn’t a speck of dust in sight. These books have been well-cared for and properly maintained , so even the musty odour filters subtly through the air, it’s not altogether unpleasant.
The main shop area is tidy and bright, but there is still the feeling that it would be impolite to talk like that which resembles in a library, though the shopkeeper isn’t all that opposed to some healthy discussion on books… though please bear in mind that there are other customers and that this isn’t a meet up point to gossip.
On either side as you walk into the shop, the
Third Hand Books Shelves hold all types of tomes available that you would find in any other book shop, only… third hand. These include manuals and non-fiction books as well as autobiographies, muggle books and more. You are likely to find any book here at affordable prices.
Just… don’t climb the shelves if there’s a book up high. The shopkeeper will be happy to help.
Straight ahead from the entrance you see the
Third Hand Books Counter. This is where you are to pay and where you can find the shopkeeper to enquire about any special or rare books, such as first editions. You would usually find these in the
Third Hand Books Special Area, an area we request that you avoid unless given permission to enter. Any other enquiries, just ask the shopkeeper.
Alternatively, those from large families or those of poor income will find a section dedicated to books for schooling and education, ranging from young children’s texts to those past university age. These will be found in the
Third Hand Books for Education section.
Behind the counter is the
Third Hand Books Back Room, which we also ask you do not enter without specific say so from the shopkeeper.
Once you have found what you need or browsed to your heart’s content, feel free to check out the other shops on the
North End of the Street. And remember, your custom is always welcome.
