On either side of the shop, book shelves tower up to the ceiling and hold books of every kind. Fiction and non-fiction, autobiographies, biographies, even muggle manuals. Perhaps your interests lie in Astronomy, maybe magizoology, perhaps even the history of Mr. Zonko.

Most of your literature needs will be somewhere on these shelves, apart from the particularly delicate books or books concerning dark arts and other specialist subjects. These can be inquired about at the Third Hand Books Counter. If a book appears to be missing or out of stock, consult the shopkeeper.

Please do NOT climb the shelves and remember that some customers like silence when browsing, so keep the noise to a minimum. Likewise, please do NOT damage or deface any books.

Remember these books are old, used and third hand. It is unlikely that you will find a pristine copy. They are cheap after all.

Happy browsing, and don’t forget the pay at the counter.

What exactly was she supposed to say? No he was evil and she didn't know why she was dating him exactly? Well no because that was a lie and she knew it.

"Yeah it is actually" she frowned back. "Why exactly do you want to know?" she asked. There was nothing happening between her and Jayce. Now if other people came into the equation then maybe there were things. But she couldn't say any of this. Not with Jayce around.

"And what about you?" she asked moments later. Quite clearly she wanted attention. Well that was Trixie's job. There was only one big ego'd, self centered sarcastic girl around here and that was her.

"Well," Neptune jumped right in, since Trixie had asked and all, "does he buy you nice things? Write you love notes? I LOVE love notes!" GIGGLE! IT was so true. Neptune did not get nearly enough love notes! "The kind with KISSES on them?" Oh was anything more wonderful???

GIGGLEGIGGLEGIGGLE.

"I might have a boy or two." Neptune scooted her books towards Trixie's. NOW they were getting somewhere and could be friends.

Trixie blinked a few times before answering. "Goodness no. We're not that type of lovey dovey" she admitted. Though that would be kinda nice once in a while. She liked Jay as he was, not too clingy so she could go off with her friends. And he certainly wasn't the jealous type. Which in the blondes case was probably quite good.

What?

She raised an eyebrow as Neptune shuffled closer. "Or two?" she repeated questioningly her head tilted. What she was dating more then one guy? That would be shocking. It wasn't like Trixie totally fancied someone else...

"Ohhh. He doesn't do love notes and presents?" How very sad! Neptune sent her pity towards Trixie, then reached over to pat her hand. Patpat, there there. "You could always ask him to do those things. Or just get another boyfriend."

Trixie had to blink a few times to make sure that this girl actually existed. When she opened her eyes apparently she was... But she was patting her hand. Like, seriously?

"I don't mind, a relationship isn't all about material possessions you know" she informed her. Trixie Malfoy was going all sentimental. She was pretty certain Jay loved her and that was all that mattered yes? Okay now she had turned fractionally mature. This was weird. But she actually liked it. Hehe. "And anyway, why send a note when he can just say it to my face" the blonde offered a sweet smile. It was true though. Wouldn't you much rather someone said they loved you to your face then in black and white on a page.

"Are you telling me to split up with Jayce?" she asked totally serious now. That wasn't something she was planning to do. Unless they drifted apart. Then they'd have to break up.

Neptune knew that too. But a gift that left Neptune know she was being thought about didn't hurt a THING. And she rather enjoyed parading around the favors she'd been given. Neptune pitied Trixie if she was missing out on that.

"True, I suppose, but I haven't had the luxury of always being able to BE face to face." So sad. Tragic. Neptune took her pity back and gave it to herself. SHE was the one to be pitied, obviously. Someone should buy HER a gift now, probably.

"...? No? Why would I suggest that? I mean, I hardly know him at all? He could be... pleasant, I'm sure." Few snips and he'd be fine, probably.

Sylvie smiled as she entered the shop and headed straight for the shelves. She love the smell of book, especially older one. Perhaps it was due to all the time she spend at uni in the library or locked away at the Louvre researching. The smell was comforting to her and always brought a smile to her face.

Walking down the line, her eyes scanned the shelves, she was looking for a version of The Transformation of Europe, 1300-1600 by David Nicholas. She had a copy of it once, but in her move back from the continent, she must have lost it. Returning to Hogwarts without a copy was not even an option to her. No, she wanted to have it amongst her collection.

Stopping about half way down, she allowed her eyes to span a small section at a time. She have this feeling it was here and the older the copy, the better in her mind. Moving her eyes to the next small section, she smiled as she saw the familiar binding. Yet another feeling that hadn't let her down.

As the shop started to get busier, Daniel made sure he was present, passing the shelves and glancing down them. It was a little too loud for his liking, but there didn't seem to be any annoyed customers trying to read... so it was fine for now.

Still... he'd stay on 'patrol'.

It wasn't that she couldn't afford a brand new book on her trust, it was simply that Getti Forde was sick and tired of all those self-help witches with their overbright twinkling smiles taunting her from where they sat in their over-adorned book covers. Flourish & Blotts had long since been a Place to Avoid for her, and so here she was, in the Third Hand Book Emporium.

She was meticulously scourgifying each book before she picked it up off the dusty shelves, but as she opened the heavy leather cover of the book she'd just lifted, Getti realized that she should probably have poured some detergent over it as well.

"Euch..." she made a face as the book dangled from her thumb and forefinger. There seemed to have been a nest inside the pages.

Atropos made his way through the book store... it was in this little second hand book stores that you could find dark magic books, and some that had been ordered to cease printing on them. Evil books sometimes... through the shelved though he watched a woman who was cleaning each book before reading it.

"I take it you aren't looking for anything in particular... That one has a bed of maggots in the binding..." He said helpfully, and used a diffindo charm to open the spine and show the woman the little white things... He refrained from introducing himself just yet, as his name caused people to cower in fear... He cleaned the inside of the book and proceeded to fix the binding.

The book flew right out of her hands (alright, Getti had thrown the damned thing as far away from her as possible) at the word "Maggots", and the woman herself nearly crashed into the shelves behind her in her haste to create distance with the loathsome creatures.

"A little warning would have been nice." She said, glowering at the man standing before her, her grey eyes as cold as ice.

"I did not put the maggots there." He said cooly... He circled her the way a leopard would circle it's most vulnerable enemy. "I'm Atropos Trelawney..." He said extending a hand.

An eyebrow arched at his prowling motion, and it took all she had not to simply ask him what the heck he thought he was doing checking out her bum when he was definitely nearly twice her age. But Getti simply took the hand he offered, gave it a firm shake and released it before he could think of trying any tricks.

"I know of you." she commented in a wholly unimpressed tone.

And with that, she had turned her back on him and continued to browse the dusty bookshelves.

He smiled at her attitude. She knew him and yet she turned her back to him. Brave move... Yeah... now he was looking at her bum. He made his way behind her, getting close enough to touch her back with his chest, though not. He leaned forward and whispered in her ear "It's rather rude to turn your back on someone, don't you think? Not to mention, not introduce yourself to them, when they were kind enough to introduce themselves..." She smelled amazing.

She pointed at a particularly thick and dusty edition of Uncommon Charms with a perfectly manicured fingernail, "Would you say this one is maggot-free?"

Getti had no time for useless banter with a man who was twice her age (alright, she exaggerated) and clearly only interested in pestering her because she wasn't half bad looking (now that, she smirked, was an understatement). He was standing FAR too close to her, invading her personal bubble, and though it did not make her nervous, she was fighting the urge to smack him out of the way.

She didn't like it when people shared her breathing space.

He reached for the book and opened it. "Yes my dear! This one is maggot free." He said still holding the book and not moving from his too-close-to-her spot. "Your name?" He asked bluntly. He wasn't going to give her that book until she told him his name.

Hmmmm.

She turned to face him again, held her hand out for the maggot-free book and in a completely unimpressed tone said, "Getti Forde, but I'm sure you knew that." She plucked the book out of his hands and tucked it under her arm.

This one was definitely going to join her library.

He summoned it out of her hands and into his again. "How about I purchase this for you, Miss Forde, it is Miss isn't it?" Not that it mattered. He was married. "Do tell me, what is your purpose for this book? Business?"

Getti propped her hand on her bony hip and stared the odious man down, "Pleasure." Her eyebrow rose in an unspoken challenge as she waited for him to give her the book. She didn't need him to pay for her things but she was tired of the never ending argument with boorish men on gender equality.

She would much sooner eat flubberworms than give her home address to the man with the shifty eyes, and ignoring his obvious intent to make her uncomfortable, she shrugged, "Fine with me, and why don't we start a trend with you paying for lunch as well?"

Getti's fingers wiggled in his hold, whether from anticipation of a kiss on the tips or rather because she wanted her hand out of his as soon as humanly possible, that was up to him to interpret, "Hmmm, sounds... delectable indeed."

Really, steak and ale pie? Pub food was so.... bourgeois. She thought with distaste.

"You had better not forget my book, Mr Trelawney." with a slight tug, Getti pulled her hand out of his grasp and took a step back, "I'll see you tomorrow, at 1 o'clock sharp." She had an appointment at 2, after all, and there was no sense in wasting time.

He held her hand tightly, and kissed the hand before letting go. "Noon." He said wanting to retain control. "And I will be sure to have your book, my dear." You be sure to leave that attitude somewhere else... he thought to himself.

"Give or take." She waved a hand dismissively before the turned away from him, "I'll see you then, Mr. Trelawney." really, this my dear business did not suit her at all. Her own ex-husband had referred to her strictly as Getti, as she was not one of terms of endearment.

Except for Mona. That was a certain term she was quite fond of.

Getti waved a goodbye towards the shopkeeper as she walked out of the door into the sunlight and far, faaaar away from the creepy Mr. Trelawney.
