On either side of the shop, book shelves tower up to the ceiling and hold books of every kind. Fiction and non-fiction, autobiographies, biographies, even muggle manuals. Perhaps your interests lie in Astronomy, maybe magizoology, perhaps even the history of Mr. Zonko.
Most of your literature needs will be somewhere on these shelves, apart from the particularly delicate books or books concerning dark arts and other specialist subjects. These can be inquired about at the Third Hand Books Counter. If a book appears to be missing or out of stock, consult the shopkeeper.
Please do NOT climb the shelves and remember that some customers like silence when browsing, so keep the noise to a minimum. Likewise, please do NOT damage or deface any books.
Remember these books are old, used and third hand. It is unlikely that you will find a pristine copy. They are cheap after all.
Happy browsing, and don’t forget the pay at the counter.
OOC :: List of books are in the inventory over at the Welcome Thread.
Pleased he'd managed to make the young girl laugh, Daniel gave another warm smile. "Well, we have plenty of books here," he stated, waving a hand at the ones in front as an example of sorts. "Muggle kinds... someone was in here for Romeo and Juliet book just now... We also have wizarding romance books. The Warlock of Oz, The Love of Young Wizards... That last one is a good one. A witch and a wizard fall in love when they're kids. And there's another good one, a kid from a muggle loving family and a kid from a pure-blood elitist family fall in love..."
...
Okay, Daniel couldn't really remember. "You can browse through them and read the blurbs, see what's for you. I'm not sure what you'll like."
"Hmmm," Lacey twisted her lips, looking at what he waved at, "All of them sounds... interesting."
She placed her hand on her hips and picked up the one he was talking about and read the blurb silently. Halfway reading, she felt a little awkward making a guy stand next to her as she was taking her time to read it. She looked at him, and gave a shy smile, almost blushing when she remembered how cute that guy was.
"I'm sorry for maikng you stand here..." She managed to say, "I think, I'm gonna like this book."
She smiled her brightest smile, and waited for his reply.

"It's okay. S'my job, after all... I'd just be standing around somewhere else anyway," he pointed out with a friendly smile. Yup, he was happy to help.
And of course oblivious about making the girl uncomfortable.
The young man took a look at the cover of the book the girl had picked and nodded in approval. Hehe. "Awesome. Anything else you wanted to get, or are you ready to pay?"

"Uh, yeah," Still dazed by this boy's charms, and not knowing what she was saying, "Yeah."
Lacey then realised she was making it obvious she was, well, charmed? whatever the word is. She had made a fool out of herself, saying 'yeah' to a question that didnt involve the words Yes or No. arghh. She cursed herself silently and then replied properly, "I'm paying."

At first assuming that the girl hadn't been listening, Daniel let a smile tug at the corner of his lips as he raised an eyebrow. He'd been about to say 'Yeaahhhh...?" when the girl spoke again.
"Okay," he chuckled slightly, warmly. "If you head on up to the counter, I'll be right with you."

Randal was allergic to dust, so HE had stay outside. He didn't seem too bent out of shape though, and for that Neptune would punish him and leave him out in the sun for HOURS. She'd stay in the musty old store for LIFE, then her family Butler/Nanny/Randal would CARE that he had to be parted from her.
Neptune strolled down the aisles of ... decrepit old books. Hmm. Her fingers trailed down their spines, nothing yet catching her attention. Hum hum hum. Surely there was a nook or cranny around here to stow away in and kill some time?

Trixie wasn't exactly sure why she was here to be honest. The blonde could afford her own books, brand new ones, rather then to have old ones, but it was still interesting to explore the shelves around here. Even if she wasn't ACTUALLY gonna buy anything. Pfffft....
But as her attention was more drawn to what was on the shelves rather then where she was actually going, the 16 year old had walked straight into something.
Ooof
Errr.... Oops? what the heck was that? Turning around she spotted that she had practically just walked straight into the bookshelf in front of some person she had never met.
Eh that was awkward....
She giggled nervously, hoping that no one else was around."You never saw me do that" she told, said person with a shifty look, ending in a giggle.
HeadGirlMC | Treddie & Trixiver <3 | Copy Girl | Katie's Ickle Minion | I love YOU more
Trixie stared blankly back at the girl, slightly dumbfounded at her response. She obviously didn't get what, you saw nothing, meant. "No your supposed to..... Eh never mind" she started. There wasn't really any point in trying to explain it.
She was backing away? Why was she backing away? MEEP! What was she scary or something? Err.... She wasn't exactly sure how to react to this response. No one had ever found the Blonde scary...
How dreadful??? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? "It's only a little clumsiness" she frowned slightly. Jeez...
Neptune's fear dissipated with the words "you're supposed to...". SUPPOSED to what? Her eyebrow raised and her hand found her hip, which jutted out with attitude. This girl walked into perfectly visible bookshelves, yet it was Neptune that was supposed to be doing something?
"You have odd sort of look on your face." Did the girl know?
HeadGirlMC | Treddie & Trixiver <3 | Copy Girl | Katie's Ickle Minion | I love YOU more
Err..... Who exactly WAS this person? Trix wasn't sure whether she liked her or not...
O___O
An odd sort of look on her face? "What exactly was that meant to mean?" she asked, her eyebrows furrowing as she looked at the girl, the tone in her voice lowering. Should she be offended by this? She wasn't easily offended. Unless it was Oliver offending her and that was usually just teasingly.
The blonde Slytherin folded her arms across her chest. "I'm Trixie by the way. Trixie Malfoy" she informed her in monotone.
Neptune fingered at the butterfly charm hanging from the chain around her neck. Hmmm. "It means what I said. Your face. It was odd." Truth. With a sigh, she added, "It looks better now, I suppose." There. Mother be proud.
Trixie Malfoy?
Giggle.
"Neptune Bott." She curtsied where she stood, giving a good show of what grace and lady-like looked like. And you know, not clumsy. "How do you do?"
HeadGirlMC | Treddie & Trixiver <3 | Copy Girl | Katie's Ickle Minion | I love YOU more
Trix really wasn't certain whether to be shocked or not. "Am I meant to be offended?" she asked, an eyebrow raised. She wasn't going to retaliate. Not just yet anyway. Well unless she WANTED her to. Was she trying to get at the Blonde?
Neptune Bott?
Wasn't neptune like some Sea God or something? No wait that was Poseidon. Roman Mythology, yes it was. Ad a planet. Why would you be named after a planet?
She was curtsying? Seriously what was with this girl? "Are you mocking me?" what was she full of questions today? Blink. "Perfectly fine... At least I WAS anyway" she continued.
Neptune's brows raised again. Inquisitive, much? It was funny to Neptune that the girl didn't know, so Neptune did not indulge her in any straight forward answers.
"ARE you offended, I think, is the better question. If you are, I have apologies to make." GIGGLE. Uh huh! Sure did! Sincere ones, too! Straight from the heart!
GIGGLE.
Neptune nodded knowingly. "Because you ran into the shelf, probably. You should probably sit down. I could take a look at your booboos." Nurse!Neptune! Or, more accurately, just nosey!Neptune.
HeadGirlMC | Treddie & Trixiver <3 | Copy Girl | Katie's Ickle Minion | I love YOU more
Ooookaaaay then.......
Either this girl WAS trying to get at her or she really was being sincere. To be honest, Trixie couldn't actually tell....
"No. I'm not offended in the slightest" she informed her, eying her slightly first but then relaxing. "No need to apologize" the blonde let out a genuine smile. Yes genuine. Not some sarcastic smile like it would quite often be.
Booboo's?
O_o
"I'm fine....I think...I err...hope" she told her. She was used to running into things. At least it wasn't the treehouse like last time. That one had kinda hurt and in front of Oliver too...
Well alright. GIGGLE. What a funny creature this one was! Neptune decided, right then and there, that she'd keep her. She was sort of unfortunate, this Trixie, probably really unfortunate having to buy books from THIS hole. Maybe her shoes were too small and that's why she couldn't walk properly?
Awwww.
Neptune's smarmy expression turned to something more like pity. "So are you very poor?" she sincerely asked, taking a step towards the girl. If the girl stunk this whole pity party thing was over.

Trixie was so confused. Did she really just ask whether she was poor? What the? Hardly. If leaving in a Manor house meant she was poor then she had no idea what rich was.
"Not really...." she said confused. She didn't really have the heart to tell her that she was rich. She looked like she felt sorry for her. Which was actually kinda sweet. "I can be if you want me to be" she giggled. Just make sure she never came to her house or anything.
Whaaaaaaaaaaat? GIGGLE. This girl was certifiable! How TRAGIC, really! At least she had pretty hair.
"I haven't the faintest idea why you would think I'd want you to be poor. Of course I don't wish any unfortunate times on you or your family. So, you either are poor, or you aren't."
Simple as.
Neptune pulled a big, thick volume off the nearest shelf and then placed it on the ground at her feet. Then another.
HeadGirlMC | Treddie & Trixiver <3 | Copy Girl | Katie's Ickle Minion | I love YOU more
Trixie raised an eyebrow slightly. But her response was truthful to be honest. And Trixie didn't exactly WANT to be poor at all. She liked having her Manor. Though it would be funny to convince people that she was poor...
"Then no. No I'm not" she smiled softly afterwards. Ah the joys of not being poor. "I'm in here because...Actually I'm not quite sure exactly why I'm in here" she pondered.
The Slytherin watched as large books were dumped in front of her. What was she doing?
Jayce entered the Third hand book emporium, looking left and right for people he knew. He had always been pretty ashamed that he was poor but everyone that had known about his "situation" had dismissed it as no big deal. But being Jay, he made a huge deal about it, and barely ever told anyone of it.
As he walked over towards the book shelves he had thought he'd seen a very familiar back-of-someone's-head. But no.. it couldn't be.. She'd never.. Nawhh. You're losing it Jay. He told himself. But then, he started hearing that voice. Was he having withdrawls?! He's seen her a whole lot this summer. How could he possibly be having withdrawls of her. Not possible.
But then, down a little ways, he spotted her. No mistaking Miss Trixie Malfoy for anyone else. That's for sure. And she was with someone else.
He put a grin on his face and slowly strolled over, grabbing a random book off of the shelves. Jay-Jay stood behind Trix and tapped her shoulder rather gently. This was going to be good. Smiiiirk.
"Excuse me Miss." he spoke in a different voice, a more childish one he hoped. "Do you by any chance know what this book might be about?" But clearly it was some random raggedy romance novel written by some well known muggle author. it even had a couple on the beach as it's cover.

"Good. Are you hiding from your butler/nanny, too then?" Neptune HOPED so! Someone that would understand what THAT was like. Neptune HOPED, also, that this girl had a reason for being in the store. Who just wandered (clumsily, at that) into poor-people bookstores?
Neptune had about four, good solid books down in the floor now. Perfect for sitting. A little throne of books!

Neptune was JUST about to sit down, too. Sigh. She remained standing, assuming this fellow was a fan or wanted introductions and all. No doubts.
"She doesn't," was Neptune's helpful reply. "She doesn't even know why she's here."

Trixie thought about it for a second but shook her head. Although she did have a nanny at home. But made her stay at the Manor. "Finding things of interest..." she continued.
Because some of these books could even be antiques right?

Trixie was just about to say something else when she felt a tap on her shoulder. The first thing she spotted was the book without seeing who was holding it. Not wanting to explain some novel right now Trixie shook her head. "No I'm sorry..." but she was interrupted as she lifted her head and spotted who it actually was.
"JAYCE!"
Cue a very large grin.
"What are you doing here?" stupid question. Looking for books obviously. He was doing his OWL's this year after all. And he had Trixie's scores to live up to. Hehe. Well if he actually ever went to classes that was. She hoped anyway.
Trixie frowned slightly at Neptunes reply but chose to shrug it off.

Jayce grinned over at the other girl whom Trixie seemed to be socializing with. She had answered his question. That was nice. He chuckled. She was funny.
Trixie didn't know why she was here? That.. that sounded a whole lot like her. Chuckle.
He was about to respond to this unnamed girl, when Trixie turned and noticed it was him. He loved her reaction. 'Cause at first she didn't. She was only paying attention to the book. But then she practically shouted his name and he couldn't help but laugh at her enthusiasm.
"What am i doing here? I could ask you the same thing." It totally didn't seem like Trixie's sort of place.. but who knows, maybe she had a real reason to be here, like himself. "But anyway, i'm looking for some cheap books. That's all." he shrugged. No need to go any further than that.
Facepalm. Stupid Jay. Where are your manners? He turned to the other girl, who's name he still did not know, and smiled. "Hi there. I'm Jayce. Jayce Cannon." Jay replied simply. Manners Jay-Jay. Manners.

Oh good Merlin.
Neptune crossed her arms and gave her "new friend" evil glares. It was SO APPARENT and CLEAR that Trixie Malfoy NEEDED Neptune Bott in her life.
1. She went into shops with NO goal in mind.
2. She walked into bookshelves - clear as day, wall covering BOOKSHELVES.
3. She wasn't entirely sure of her family's wealth.
4. She knew nothing of proper introductions.
5. She got a goofy grin on her face over a boy with hair like ... well like nothing Neptune had ever seen before.
She.... just.... yeah. O_O
SPOILER!!: Jayce Cannon

Eeeek.
He was looking at her. It TOTALLY shocked Neptune that Randal had let someone with hair like into the store with her. Honestly.
But, wild hair or no, Neptune DID know about proper introductions and all. She curtsied again, "How do you do, Jayce Cannon? I'm Neptune Bott. And I take by your overly abundant familiarity with my new acquaintance, that you already know Miss Trixie Malfoy."
Neptune toed at her book throne. Was.... this guy staying? Hmmm.

Trixie raised an eyebrow as Neptune remained quiet and didn't actually say anything to her. Okaaaaaay... Now she was slightly worried. Had she done something?? Or was it Jayce? Err......
"Why are you giving me evil glares?" she asked concerned. She didn't like getting evil glares. They were scary.
MEEP!

She turned back to Jayce, at least HE wasn't giving her glares. Well why would he?
He was looking for cheap books? Well technically that made sense. "Ah I see" she giggled but then he asked her the same back. "It appears Neptune has already told you" she confirmed. "I dunno, I just...am" she replied. Did she really have to have a reason to be in here?
