Elle was slowly making her way to the counter. She insisted that she be the ones to carry her books, that way she would be accustomed to it by the time school started. But being as tiny as she was, it was definitely difficult to say the least. She was in line behind her new acquaintance Jade, who also had quite a few books. So Elle set hers on the floor for a moment, so the blood would continue to flow through her arms. After Jade was finished, Elle say good bye to her new friend, and set her books atop the counter. "Hello! This is everything, and then some. So what's the cost?" Elle then looked expectantly at her mother to pay, who looked back and rolled her eyes.

Smiling at the next girl, Daniel got to looking through her books and putting them all in a bag. "That's 2 galleons then, please," he said to her, ringing them up and causing the till drawer to spring open.

Smiling back at the next kid, Daniel looked quite apologetic at the way she was all dusty. "Sorry about the dust. I thought I'd dusted earlier, but the place is so big I must have missed a place or two. Did you find everything okay?"

"I'm rather fond of it myself," Daniel agreed with a smile, taking the money and checking that it was the right amount before depositing it in the till. He passed the bag of books back over. "You are, of course, welcome back whenever."

Except during the school year, of course, but that was a given.

"Lovely," Daniel smiled back, waving his wand and causing a large sheet of paper to wrap itself around the whole stack of books. "That will be just 2 galleons then, please."

Daniel waited patiently even as the girl panicked. Fact was, she'd had to have had the book list to select the books, so if it WAS lost, a simple summoning charm would have brought the list back.

Magic was so awesome.

A smiled spread across his features again as the girl found the list, and with a wave of his wand, the books were all bagged up. "That'll be 2 galleons and 6 sickles then, please," he informed the girl, ringing up the books and looking back to his customer and her mother.

Alice's father smiled under his mustache. 2 Galleons wasn't much to them, but Alice did prefer old books over the new ones. It was the smell, he reckon'd, that she liked best. He placed 3 galleons into the shopkeepers hand and said "I think the child may have messed up your piles a bit, this is for the trouble of putting them back up" he said smiling.

Alice gave the shopkeeper a toothy smile and waved him goodbye as her and her parents left the shop with their books.

Elle was thankful that Daniel was so nice and patient with her. After he rang her up, Elle found the 2 galleons and 6 sickles, and slid them across the counter towards the friendly man. "Thank you!" she said.

Rose walked upto the counter, her hand full of books. She had left her school shopping 'til nearly the last minute... Literally!

Aurora had to stop herself skipping to the counter, the thrill of a new potions book always made her a little over excited.
"Hello, I found this in your potions section, I've been looking for it for ages, I thought I'd never find it!" She put Moonlight Potions on the counter and placed the other book on top. "And the fourth year potions book too." She already knew most of the stuff in the earlier books, potions had been a huge focus of her home schooling since she could reach the cauldron.
"I know Moonlight Potions is out of print and pretty rare so how much will they be together?" Aurora had to make a mental effort to stop herself squealing with excitement as she took out her money pouch.

As you approach the Third Hand Books Emporium you notice there aren't any lights on, nor does there seem to be any movement from inside. The door is locked, and a single sign hangs:

Taking down the sign that hung in the window of his new purchase, a fresh faced man smiled to himself, rather pleased with what he had bought. Despite the fact it wasn't as flashy as Flourish and Blotts, nor was it as exciting as some of the other shops for the younger generation, Jude, named after the famous Beatles song by his mother (His brother had not escaped the fate either) loved the idea of owning his own bookshop that was accessible and affordable for everyone.

Being an author left Jude with a lot of love for books and although some books appeared tatty and overused, there were a few genuine antique treasures hidden amongst the aisles. Opening up the shutters and allowing light to flood in, he switched the sign on the door.

OPEN FOR BUSINESS.

Rose walked up to the counter. Her twins sisters, who were behind her, were too lazy to carry their own books,so she had gotten them to carry half of her second year books each. She could hear them moaning and groaning about it. She could heat the words 'carry her own books, what does she think we are, slaves?' She just smiled as she placed two copies of;

books she needed and hadn't already got onto the desk. She attempted to calculate it all... She thinks it's going to cost 4 Galleons and 16 sickles. She takes her purse full of recently change muggle money to wizard money and waited to hear how much it would cost.

Lilly were moaning and groaning having to carry Rose's books. 'We're not her personal slaves! She could at least pay us!' Lilly said outraged to Violet

'Yeah!' Violet agreed fervently. 'Hey, when we get our wands we'll just jinx her!' then she remembered Rose telling her and her twin that they weren't allowed to do magic outside of school.

Ah. It must have been the end of term. Three students, who all obviously knew eachother except the first one must have been the 'leader' had entered the shop, all school age and judging by the pile of books that had been stacked up on the counter, were here for their school supplies.

"Did you find everything you want?" he smiled softly at her whilst simultaneously working out the sums in his head. There was a big difference between muggle money and that of Wizarding, plus Jude's skills lie in his literacy skills, he wasn't a maths genius. Still, the former Ravenclaw worked it out immediately. "That'll be 4 galleons and 16 sickles" he stated, that was unless there was anything further they wanted.

But it was then he heard the other two who were obviously not happy with the way they'd been treated. "Now now girls, there's no need for hexing. Where's you loving moods?" he asked winking. The hippie in him had always take over. With not a single mean bone in his body, he had learned that friendliness got you everywhere. Leaning down he turned his voice into a whisper. "I recommend Weasley's if you want some form of quiet revenge" he chuckled.

Matthew walked up to the counter carrying a huge pile of books that he needed. On the counter he placed:

He was suprised at how many books he needed...

'Yup! That's everything! They've had me carry ALL of their books!' Rose laughed. 'Oh, gosh, we've been there haven't we! No using them on me!' Rose told the twins laughing. 'I think they're trying to get on the bad side of teachers!' Rose grinned 'They've been doing my nut in!' Rose laughed, extracting her purse. 'Right, 4 Galleons and 16 Sickles? I've got that...' Rose said, rummaging trough her purse and pulling out 5 Galleons. 'Might as well give you another Galleon! It's only 1 Sickle out!' Rose grinned.

Mitch entered the bookshop. He had been in here a few times before.
It took him some time to find his fifth-year books.

Cautiously he placed all of the onto the counter, wondering how he should get them all back, when he stikll had lots of other stuff to buy...Maybe he should get a broomstick and just fly back home in a few minutes...

So, with an uneasy expression on his face in the face of so many heavy books, he waited for the shopkeeper.

Jordon walked up to the counter and placed all of his firstie books on it. He looked around for a minute then back over the counter. "Erm I believe that's it."

Lillian gradually walks in the shop. She was starting to get annoyed with her day but seeing what's around her lit up her day. Books! she thought.

She then looked and gathered every book that is written on her list with a smile on her face. But that smile didn't stay for long, "if Draco's here, he could've told me what other interesting books should I buy," she whispered to herself.
She walked to the counter while carrying her books. Without looking who's in front of her, she asked "How much?"

So this must have been a full collection of the education books? Glad that there was a specific total for them all rather than having to count it all up in the head, Jude enchanted them to feel slightly lighter for the poor boy. "That would be 2 galleons" he smiled.

"Ah well I can help you out there" he chuckled to himself, taking out his wand and producing a spell to make them all appear lighter. "Don't want you struggling now do we?" he asked. "Thank you" he spoke as he took the money from her and returned a sickle for her change. "Well I hope you enjoy Hogwarts and these two don't hassle you too much" he winked.

"Did you find everything you needed?" Jude asked, eying the large pile of books on the counter. These poor children that had to carry them around. If he wasn't so busy, the man would of helped them himself. "If that is all then that would be 2 galleons please" he stated smiling.

There were so many first years around wasn't there? This place must have surely been overwhelming for them, especially as there was so much on their lists to buy and there were plenty of them walking around unaccompanied. "If that is everything then that will be 2 galleons for the lot please" he grinned.

"Is that everything you wanted?" he asked, tilting his head to the side. She seemed to be more interested in the books than other students who had passed through his doors. As a child, he would have loved this place himself. He'd always had a love for books, hence why he became an author and then invested in the shop. "That's 2 galleons for the lot" he stated.

"Yes, I did, thank you", he smiled and handed over the money. "And thank yoou for this shop, my family has been buying books here for years.", he added. He didn't get why people would be embarassed at how they couldn't afford brand new books all the time. After all, there were so many things more important than money.

And before he thought about if it might be allowed or not, he raised his wand and said: "Wingardium Leviosa", pointing it onto the pile of books.
The hovered for a moment, and when he started to think about the consequences for his spellcasting (which, after all, wasn't allowed unless he was at Hogwarts), in that brief moment, books all started to fall onto the floor.

"OH WHA..."

He blushed and started pickig up the books from the ground, intending to get out as fast as he could.

Jordon smiled "Wow... this is so much better then Flourish and Blotts." He said, taking two galleons out of the pouch and handing them to him. "I'll be back next year. Or maybe sooner!"
