Reaching out to take the rose, Daniel smiled at the girl. "That's very kind of you, thank you so much," he replied, trying to think of where to keep the rose. Perhaps on the counter, in one of the glass things like in... GASP! Like in that muggle movie, Beauty and the Beast! THATWOULDBESOCOOL! "Such a lovely tradition."

"Thanks. It's gotten better, since there used to be thorns on them. It really sucked to carry them around," Izzy said with a smile.

Keeley skipped up to the Third Hand Bookstore counter, not at all embarassed that she didn't have the money to pay for new books. But then again, nothing really embarassed her. She didn't mind at all that her new parent's jewelry making and fortune telling wages were slim, just spending time with them at the caravan was such an amazing experience. Her fluffy grayish hair bounced slightly as she dropped the set of standard fourth year books onto the counter. They were in pretty good shape, concidering they were used, well worn really. Perfect.

Giving a chuckle, Daniel shook his head in half disbelief, half pure amusement. "I can imagine," he replied, just imagining that. He, himself, was rather accident prone at times. That's why he was glad he didn't have to do gardening or anything now he lived above the shop. If there was anything you could hurt yourself with, Daniel managed it.

And there was alot of that in the gardening hobby.

Sometimes, however, he was fine. Heh.

Hearing a heavy THUD! on the counter, Daniel winced slightly and turned to the next customer. He knew that sometimes you just couldn't help but drop books heavily when you had alot, but still... his poor books.

"Hey," Daniel smiled at the girl, waving his wand at the books whilst using his knee to push on the till draw and opening it up. "That'll be 2 galleons, please," he added. "I trust you found everything you were looking for?"

Alice stepped up to the counter, wondering if she had read the sign correctly. Since these were the required books for first years, and she guessed she found them to be the standard books needed, she figured it would be two galleons total. She was going to check that with the shopkeeper first though.

Seeing that she wasn't in anyone's way she slid the books onto the counter in front of her and stepped sideways so she could see the shopkeeper around the stack of books.

"I'm not sure if I've got this right, but is it two galleons for the lot?"

Herod perused around the counter and nonchanantly looked at a chocolate frog near the checkout desk. He was waited to be asked for assitance becasue he wanted the shopkeeper to initiate the conversation to seem less pushy. Herod was akward in social situatons, but still a naturally friendly person.

He tried not looking up, but failed once or twice and sneaked a peak.....

"Yeah, you got it right," Daniel nodded, making sure all the books needed were there, with no extras. "Definitely. The sets only cost 2 galleons 'cause you get big families with low income... and that's still quite expensive in some cases. But I try and make it all fair."

I could get a bit awkward and a little upsetting when kids came in here and couldn't afford much. "So... yeah, that'll be 2 galleons. You want them wrapped up and bagged?"

Oh, another flower.

Fair enough. "Thank you very much. Enjoy your books."

"Yes sir, how may I help you?" Daniel said to the next person, vaguely noticing their discomfort but not thinking anything of it.

Alice took out the two galleons she needed to pay and placed them on the counter, pushing them towards the shopkeeper.

"I'll just add them to a bag I've already got, but thank you though!"

Alice slid the books off of the counter, sliding them into a bag that she had put her robes in, and waved goodbye to the shop keeper. Alice had accomplished a lot already but she still had a lot she needed to buy.

Lacey reached the counter and waited for the shopkeeper to get to her. As she waited, she wondered how much the book was going to cost... hopefully, not much...

With several books in her arms Alexis made her way up to the counter. They were all in used but otherwise good condition, some were not such easy to find books either, one of the great things about second hand book stores. She piled them up on the counter, the books where all on dragons, mostly books on facts and information about the beasts, others were photo books, Alexis's favorite, for it was her goal to one day be a dragonologist. She took out her money and handed it to the man at the till.

Stepping behind the counter again, Daniel focused on the girl he'd just helped. The one who'd seemed a little flustered. "Right then... push your books up here, and I'll ring 'em up."

"Thanks for getting your books here," Daniel smiled, giving a tiny wave.

Such nice kids he always met.

Next customer, and she was well prepared, money out already. Checking the books and stuff, making sure it was the right amount, Daniel took the money and smiled, putting it into the till. "Would you like a bag with that?" he asked politely.

Knock, knock.

Oh, no. Wait. It was 'Ding, ding', because Treyen was inside the shop and calling the shopkeeper from that little ringer on the counter (which was meant to be used, correct?).

The third year Hufflepuff was looking for a very old book, and perhaps those people at Flourish had it, but he'd rather check in here first.

And so, he rang the little ringer once more (by accident), and stood very silently, waiting for the shopkeeper.

Why, oh whyyyyy had Daniel thought that getting one of those cool looking bell things would be, well... cool? It was just loud.

But then it stopped... but logic dictated that a person would have rung it, and would therefore be waiting for assistance.

"Yes, good sir," Daniel spoke as he approached the boy at the counter. "How may I help you?"

Treyen felt the urge to ring the bell once more, just for the fun of it, but refrained because the shopkeeper was already there.

Really? Him? Wasn't there anyone older behind the counter?

Oh, well.

"Hello, mister...I actually think you could be of great help today" he smiled, apparently this was the only shopkeeper that could help him, right? "See, I'm looking for a book, it's supposed to be very old, a Professor lend it to me once...but I had to give it back, see? And I want my own copy" yes, the little boy nodded, and he was going to skip the part of the other Professor making the temporary copy of the book in case he got in trouble for it.

But the Huffie boy forgot to tell the most important part. The title of the book. Yes, the little ringer got him sidetracked as Treyen stopped to look at the little bell, "This looks muggle, I like it" he smiled.

Right, she was in the shop. That was good. Good... Now onto stage two: walking up to the coun--ah, hello legs. Nice walking there. Oh! Here's the counter. Heh. So soon? Okay, next stage... talking to the shopkeeper. Yes, she could do that, she could. Really.

Ina opened her mouth, gaped, then shut it and hid her face behind her fortunately long hair -- like a curtain. Or something.

Oh man, she couldn't do this. She couldn't ask -- no, no, no. "I--" Aaah! Nooo, too shy, waaay too shy. Hide now, hide behind hair! Yes, the shopkeeper couldn't see her behind her hair!

Lacey smiled and put the book in her hands, The Love of Young Wizards and took out her puch, ready to pay.

Alex walked up at the counter and smiled a very friendly smile towards the man. He is cute! she thought, when she stepped up to the counter. "Hi there!" she said, in a thick italian accent. "I have an English to German dictonary here." she said. She had always wanted to learn German, but never had the time. She was fluent in Italian. "How much do I owe you?" she asked. "Gratzi." she said, quietly. She hardly ever spoke Italian anymore, and, living in England, nobody speaks the beautiful langauge.

"I also have this." she said, pulling out a copy of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and pushing it on the counter towards him. The play was always very close to her. After all, she had played Viola in the play, and her mum was very proud. This was the first play she had acted in after her brother died. She started to tear up, thinking of him, but she wiped her eyes quickly, not wanting the shop keeper to notice.

"Oh...I was just admiring your books. I think I'll but this one...but first. COuld you varify its authenticity? Magically will do" he said, handing the man the book. IN actuality, he didn't care at all about the authenticty of this book. He just wanted to talk to the man. WHen he had laid the book down in front his the clerk, Herod started to talk to him. "So....how long have you worked here? You look very busy....do you have an assitistant?" he asked nonchalatnly.

Viktoriya gave the shopkeeper a small smile as she set her books on the counter. She'd piced up all the books necessary for a fourth year, as well as some others; a fragile little Russian-English dictionary for her to carry round because she didn't want to be talking to someone and not know what they were saying, and a DADA advanced spells book from the 'many previous owners' section.

She liked this store. It wasn't that she didn't have the money for new books, she just liked old things. Books like the ones she'd picked up, they had character. She also liked that sometimes she could find things the previous owner had left behind: a personalized bookmark, a small note in the margin, scribbles or drawings on the pages. So she had gone to the Third-hand bookstore. And here she was.

"Right, well... you came to the right place if you want an old book," Daniel chuckled, and leaned forwards to rest on his elbows. The young man humoured the boy for a while, when it came to the bell, and hit it with his palm twice, making it sound like a bus thingie. DINGDING! "Yeah, I got it from this really cool muggle vintage shop. I liked it too... so I brought it."

Anyway, moving on.

"This book you wanted... what was it called?"

Catching sight of a girl, Daniel looked curiously at her face.

Well... her hair, since it was all up in her grill. "Errr... can I help you?" Daniel asked kindly, keeping his voice soft. Yeah... she seemed shy.

"Ahh, very good. That'll be 2 sickles then," Daniel smiled, till open, ready for him to set the money in.

"Okay, so we haaaaave... a dictionary aaaaand... well, I'll count that as a novel, just because... so that'll be 7 sickles altogether," Daniel calculated, and looked at the girl, pretending he didn't notice her wiping her eyes. It would be unprofessional to point it out.

"Verify its authenticity?" Daniel asked, looking perplexed. He managed to crack a small smile as he glanced at the tome. "Yep... it's definitely a book."

Ugh, verifying it was effort. "In what way do you want it verified?"

Listening to the man's questions, Daniel wait for him to be done before answering. "Well... I've worked in Diagon Alley for just over a year... but I've had this place for a couple of months. And no, it's just me in here."

Returning the smile to the young girl, Daniel started to ring up her books, placing them into a large bag with a string handle as he did. This was actually the largest collective purchase he'd had so far.

"Okay, so that'll be 2 galleons 5 sickes and 3 knuts altogether," he informed her, standing the bag up for her to take and waiting for payment.

Viktoriya gave the man a small smile as she pushed two galleons, five sickles and three knuts across the counter. Taking the bag, she placed gently into the leather satchel slung across her shoulder - verygently indeed, lest her fragile new books break or anything. 'Thank you very much' she said quietly, and was about to leave when a thought came to her.

'Do you have any Russian history books?' she asked, remembering that her stepfather had asked for some, and she hadn't found him any yet 'And maybe... would it be possible for me to look in the special books area? My stepfather's birthday is soon, and he collects first editions and antique books. I thought it mught make a good present...' plus the fact she wanted a look for herself.

"Alrighty," she said. Seven sickles is a really good deal.she thought. I need to come here more often.... she thought, again. She opened up her bag and pulled out seven sickles. "Here you go." she said, placing the coins on the counter.

He smiled. He was in the right place. Treyen was always in the right place. He knew that.

'Really cool muggle vintage shop'. Yeah, that made it happen. "A muggle shop? Where?" well, it wasn't on Diagon Alley, was it? Because otherwise Treyen would've heard of such a wonderful place where muggle stuff dwells.

Muggles. So inventive.

Oh my Gilderoy! The book! Treyen appeared surprised that he'd forgotten what he came to in the first place, "Right, the book. I don't know the author, all I know is that it's called 'Magical Trees and their Properties' and it's supposed to be old" 'supposed', but he had no idea. Hopefully, the author wasn't needed.

Amanda walked across the place to the front counter with her books to buy them.
