"J-just b-b-bagged p-p-please." He told the man closing the gold bag and reaching back around to his bag pack and putting it away. "Have y-you b-b-been r-r-really b-busy?" He asked, attempting to make a little small talk, though it was a lame question. Of course he was busy lately, it was the summer time, students were all over the place getting their new school supplies.

Daniel was, at first, a little taken aback by the stuter, but it was very short lived. He had been in touch with his younger brother, Jake, of course... who had recently conquered his own stutter.

Waving his wand, Daniel had the books wrapped the books up in brown paper and string, before sweeping the money into the till.

"Not as busy as the other book shop probably gets. Most people like pristine books, I guess. I see the crowds out of the window and it makes me glad I don't own, for instance, the sweet shop."

Poor Anita...

Jaina stacks her pile of books from the Third Hand Books for Education section and begins to walk towards the counter, only to trip on the carpet. "Dang it! Don't turn, don't turn, don't turn," she begins to recite to keep her hair from going as pink as her cheeks again. Her mum and dad had told her that it was not normal for muggles to have hair that changed color, so it was probably true in the wizarding world, too. She picked her first year books up once again, and placed them on the counter hoping that no one saw or heard her. "So, how much for the books?? Oh, and sorry about dropping all the books back there. I got them all picked up for you. I just hope they're in the right order."

Herod walked in to the bookshop. Minstry business always seemed to perseverate in Diagon Alley for some reason. "Hello?" he asked the empty store, although he had no doubt that a shopkeeper would pop out of no where any second.

"Yes?" Daniel called from further down the counter where he was peeking into the back room where his little brothers were taking a nap. He was wary about having them upstairs when he'd had that trouble in here already. "Can I help you?" he asked, closing the door gently. Those toddlers could be a menace.

Serena placed the first year books on the counter, along with the book she had also decided to buy (Muggle Astronomers and the Myths they believe) "How much will these be please?" She asked, hoping it wouldn't be more than 2 Galleons, she had already been to the bank once today, and that was one time too many, Goblins creeped her out...

Daniel had been leaning on the counter, smiling at the quietness of the place (and WINCING when he heard a few precious books hit the unforgiving floor), holding an ice pack to his head. Mmmmm, felt good.

But then... 'twas time for business.

Daniel smiled at the young girl in front of him and looked through the books she had. He knew the booklists by heart now, so even if they weren't picked up as a set he knew how to price eeeet.

"That'll beeeee... 2 galleons for the school set and 4 sickles for the other one you have there," he informed the girl. "Do you want them wrapped up and... stuff."

He was tired D:

"Thank you" Serena replied. "But it's O.K, I don't need it wrapped up." She blushed. Serena was rubbish at talking to new people, she never knew what to say. She gave the man the money and then began to heft the larger book off the counter and proceeded to pile the rest of the books on top of it before carefully walking out the shop. "Thank you!" She called back before walking out, trying to stop 'How to not blow off your fingers on your first day' falling. Sheesh. She wish she had a wand, then she could magic them or something.

Izzie 04-14-2011 04:39 PM

Izzie walked up to the counter with a stack of books taller then she was. Most of them were books she needed for her first day of school, (she decided to get them here because they had "personality" instead of the new books which were boring) but there was one book on charms "Accio to Waddiwasi and beyond", one book on transfiguration "How to turn your sister into any household item", and two written completely in runes. She was so scared of tripping over her feet, but she was so excited about the possibility of new books to read that she walked right over to the counter with a huge smile and big blush on her face. "Umm...hi.." she said, putting her books down on the counter. "I want to get these. I love your store. I never knew it was here. Oh I wish I had known sooner..."

Heaving the book 'Quintessence: A Quest' onto the counter, Serena asked "Excuse me, but how much would this be?"

The Katharos family had money. Enough to buy expensive things but that didn't stop Daichi's father for telling him he had to buy third hand books in stead of new once. Save the money eh?

So, instead of going to florish and blotts, Daichi opened up the door of the book shop with his duck plushy yet again in his arms. He could NEVER leave with out it. Daichi grabbed the books he needed for his first year while thinking about Hogwarts. The slytherin prefect he had met earlier had told him about the difficult test before he was sorted in to a house. It made him nervous everytime he thought about it. A three hour test! gaaah!
So he needed to study! and ...learn spells quickly.. but..how!? Daichi honestly believed that his big brother and Evan we're telling the truth and thus he was seriously freaking out. A three hour test! O_o

Daichi waited until it was his turn and he placed the first year books with difficulty on the counter. "Uh...Hi! , i would like to buy these!" Duh.

As the next person came up, Daniel gave them a little smile and ran his finger down the spines of the books. He tilted his head slightly and did the maths. "That'll be 3 galleons and 3 sickles," he informed the girl, and then smled again. "I'm glad you like it here. I spend every day here, and the novelty of buying the place still hasn't worn off."

How long had it been? 2 or 3 years?

"Would you like these wrapped up and bagged?"

Raising an eyebrow at the choice of book, Daniel checked the pricelist and did the usual head tilting. "Uhh... I'll let you have it for 5 sickles if you like?" he offered, looking back to the girl and giving a little smile.

The next kid had a... cuddly toy? Hm. Odd, but then again Dale had a toy aeroplane he wouldn't go ANYWHERE without. Though that wasn't cuddly... it was more about his aeroplane obsession.

Nevertheless...

"Hey there... that'll be 2 galleons for the lot," he smiled, leaning forward on the counter before pulling his wand out of his back pocket, waving it and summoning a mug and jug of iced tea with lemon, letting it sort itself out behind him whilst he dealt with the customer.

Hateya didn't really look around when she entered the book store. She just headed for the desk and flopped her hands on the counter. If she were taller, she would have flopped her whole arms and maybe leaned on it. One day.

"Hi. I'd like a set of first-year books, please." Was there a section for that? She glanced around and thought she might have seen something, but decided that she'd already asked and well... might as well wait for a response.

"Thanks" Serena told the man at the counter, whilst handing over 5 sickles. Now to get to the important business of finding out how to make an Invisibility Cloak... heh heh heh

It was odd, at least to Daniel, that most of his customers were female students. At least at the start of the summer. As the last few days came, there was usually an influx of last minute buyers, mostly boys.

Heh.

"Sure... our education is just down the way," he informed the girl, pointing down the shelves. The place was pretty big and there were bookcases all through the middle... just like an old library. "I can summon a set here for you if you like? Save you from going off in search for one."

"No problem," Daniel smiled, drinking some more of his iced tea as he gave a little goodbye wave to the girl.

"Oh... I didn't see them." She hadn't exactly looked, but there you go. Hateya glanced in the direction of his point, then shrugged and turned back to face him, "I guess summoning them would be faster, if you don't mind? I can't really summon them myself; I don't have a wand yet."

She wondered if his wand was his first one, and had another small bout of paranoia that she'd get her first one broken. Somehow.

Izzie smiled brightly at Daniel. "Umm...yeah, that would be great, except the first Rune book, I want to read that while I wait for my older sister." Digging around in her pocket she pulled out four galleons and said "I'm sorry, I don't have any sickles on me right now...you can keep the change if you want to...Umm...Do you like books as much as I do? Mom says I should have been a Ravenclaw, because I like books so much. What's your favorite book?" Suddenly she realized she was rambling and stopped talking, turning a light shade of red. "Umm...thanks for the books. I'll definately be back for more." She smiled at Daniel, waiting for him to say something or hand her the wrapped books, then looked at her feet.

"No problem... it's a big place," Daniel smiled. True, it was big. Plus, Daniel's littlest brothers liked to run around the shop when he was babysitting them, and on time they'd somehow managed to pull EVERY BOOK from the shelves in the education section. It had taken over a week to resort it all properly.

With a small nod, Daniel pulled his wand from his back pocket and waved it as if beckoning someone at the back of the shop to come to the front before he put it away again. "Plus, I guess if you don't have a wand yet, you won't be able to summon anyway," he added as an afterthought as the books, an entire set of first year tomes, steadily flew over in a stack and landed neatly on the counter. "Anything else you might want to get?"

Giving a small nod, Daniel did what the girl wanted and wrapped up all but the one book the girl wanted. Taking the money, Daniel held up one hand to signify he wouldn't hear of keeping THAT much change. He pulled 14 sickles out of the till as change and handed them back over. "Now you have sickles in case you need them somewhere else, too," he added, bagging up the books and adding a receipt of purchase.

The young man chuckled slightly at the questions. "I love books, but I don't have a favourite. My little brother loves reading. He just left Hogwarts... they have a huge library there, so I'm told."

And with that, he checked everything was bagged up/wrapped as asked before handing them to the girl. "Enjoy."

Daniel was quite wary, and rightly so. This kid was a little too young to be looking for the books Daniel presumed he might be searching for, and even if his request was innocent, there were books not for children in the back room, with terrible magic. Even Daniel was wary of these... especially after the incident in his shop the year before.

"What kind of books are you looking for, lad?" he asked cautiously.

Hateya watched the books zoom over and stack themselves, a small grin on her face. Soon, she was going to be able to do that. Somehow the thought that it would take years to learn a bunch of spells didn't occur to her; she sort of assumed she'd be able to do it all at once.

"I think that's it, really. I don't know enough about the classes I'll be in to want anything more specific. Maybe I'll see you at Christmas though."

Hateya shrugged; she was more of a go-nuts-experimenting type girl than a never-put-the-book-down type girl. Still, it was good to know a bunch of books would be there in case she needed them, "I'll do that. One of my friends loves books a ton, so I'll tell her too."

One fish through the coin purse later, she handed over the two galleons, "That's probably a good idea. They're beat-up enough without me getting ice cream on them."

Which... yeah, totally going for ice cream after this.

Woahwoahwoah!

"Hey... hey kid, wait," Daniel called to the girl who was leaving. "Those only cost 2 galleons." Couldn't let the kid get away without her money. 8 galleons could be a lot.

Daniel chuckled at what the girl said. He knew by experience that books and food did not mix.

Unless they were cookbooks.

With another wave of his wand, the books were wrapped and in the back and Daniel took the money, placing it in his till. "I hope you have a fun first year," he told the girl, handing the bag over to the young girl.

Alice followed behind her father and he placed the books they were purchasing onto the counter and gave the shopkeeper a tip of his top hat then straightened the tail coat on his suit and walked back to be with Alice's mother, who had been holding his walking stick. Alice then looked up over the counter, even for average 11 year old height it was a bit high and she smield at the shopkeeper, smoothing out her dress which had gotten dusty just a moment ago from all the books.
