Every child in Wizarding Britain knows that Sugarplum's is the place to be. You can smell the sticky sweetness and bursts of flavour as soon as you walk through the door, the little candy themed bell, enchanted to transform into a different type of candy every hour, will tinkle merrily to announce your arrival, but we won't be surprised if you don't notice it, after all your eyes have a rainbow of delectable sweets to feast on.
Shelves among shelves of different types of wizarding sweets are ranged in aisles before you. The shelves stretch up to the roof and big glass jars display every type of candy imaginable. Can't reach? No worries! Just say the type of candy out loud and the jar will float down to you, ready to scoop out the required amount. Everything is labeled, so it shouldn't be too hard to find what you're looking for. There are a stack of baskets to the right of the last shelf - go ahead and grab one if you need it! There are four gumball machines near the exit to the sweet shop. If you have any knuts in your pocket that you are just dying to get rid of, why not buy a few gumballs with them? All you have to do is place two knuts inside the little slot, turn the knob, and watch as the gumball travels down the maze and to the little compartment at the bottom.
Once you've finished your shopping, you need to escort yourself to the check out counter located on the right side of the store. The shopkeeper can usually be found behind the counter, scooping and weighing sweets for the customers ahead of you.

Noah had been so focused on pursuing the exotic candy arrangements that the shop had that he hadn't noticed someone come near him. But when he heard someone ask for help - the Gryffindor couldn't help but offer himself as an agent of good. "Absolutely," he said with a nod as he looked at the younger witch, wondering what she needed exactly.
"What do you need help with?" he had asked before following where she had pointed. OH. She wanted the gummies up ahead? "Sure," he added as he reached up to grab the gummies that she was pointing too. "What's your favourite flavour?" He asked with a curious grin and tilt of her head.
Her biggest concern was either being ignored or told to go away. Fortunately, neither of those things happened and the boy agreed to help her out. This created a smile on her face.
Watching him closely as he reached for her gummies, Kennedi nodded as she watched with big curious eyes. "My favorite flavor?" she repeated softly to herself. Then paused. "I like blueberry." Hmm. "Although I can't often find many blueberry-flavor things," she added.
The whole wizarding world was... overwhelming to him. But in the best type of way. Thankfully, by chance he'd met Solana who had been willing to catch him up on as much as possible. Including the whole happenings at Hogwarts which was especially GREAT since he had been SO worried about Noah. It was unlike his brother to not talk to them all while he was gone somehow, so they'd all been kind of freaked. And of course had no idea what was happening until closer to the end. Noah hadn't even been reachable when Evan received his letter. He peered at the jars when she suggested they throw something at them. "You think they might be glass?" The fact she was not serious went over his head. He was more concerned and concentrated on the fact he could NOT afford all of those candies if they broke stuff.
He did not notice what his question did to her, until she started talking again and he turned to look at her and noticed her lower lip. His eyes widened a little as he realized maybe he shouldn't ask people considering how scary the last term was. He chose to focus now on the fact Noah was FINE and coming home but... others might still be dealing with a lot of residual feelings over everything that had happened. He'd have to consider that next time. "I get that. My sisters and I missed our older brother too..." So much. They had such a HUGE stack of things to send to him once they had notification he could contact them again. "I can hardly WAIT to see him when he gets home." And saw all the things they had done to his room when they thought he was ignoring them on purpose.
Oops.
"We do have chocolate. And I've already tried a chocolate frog." Which was about the only thing he'd heard listed that sounded different and like it'd be worth trying. Because experience. He watched as she surveyed the shelves, so glad for the assistance and that the decision was being taken off of him. There were so many OPTIONS he'd been a little bit on the verge of internally panicking about it all. When she offered a jar, he pulled out one of the little bags he held for candy and took a couple pieces and dropped it in, making sure he had enough for Lisa and Maya too. "That sounds like it would be fun! What are the Fizzing Whizzbees like?" Poprocks maybe? That's what it SOUNDED like anyways. Or maybe sugar dip? "Thank you for the help and suggestions!"
Did she think they might be glass? Was he being sarcastic or serious? She couldn’t quite tell. She thought her joke had been obvious but maybe not. “Errr…they’re glass. But you know, if you still want to throw something at them, I won’t stop you” . She wasn’t a trouble maker per say, but did tend to get into trouble at times, usually with Adam. To say that the boy in front of her was weird would have been an understatement but luckily for him, Ingrid was used to weird. Weird was her middle name. Well, actually it was Starling but…
The lower lip was soon back to its normal position but that didn’t stop her from getting momentarily distracted at the idea of her siblings being stuck in a castle, forgetting her and almost disappearing out of existence! How cool and scary is that! Moving her eyes away from the jars, she nodded at the boy for a moment, unsure exactly what to say, instead, she simply settled for a “Mhm” and gave him a quick smile as a thank you, eager to move on to other topics.
“Chocolate frogs are pretty fun but you know, it’s just chocolate” She continued, seizing onto this subject as quick as possible, still holding the jar out to him now as he took some gum from inside. “Fizzing Whizzbees? It’s one of those things you need to…try to understand. I guess they’re kind of sherberty?” . Let him figure out that they make you float a few inches off the ground. It was more fun that way and honestly, she wanted to see his reaction. “It’s okay. I mean, I think I’m going to get some of the Giant Gumball’s at the top there…”. Ingrid froze, her eyes lingering on the jar of gumball’s as it slowly moved from the top shelf, way out of her reach and then slowly floated down to her new friend who’s name she didn’t even know. “Er… what just happened?” Were there ghosts here that served you or something? Or did someone just use magic to levitate it down? But…there was no one else around. Placing the jar in her hands back, she looked around, a perplexed expression on her face as she surveyed the shop around her. “Did you do that?”

Jokes went over his head fairly often. Probably because he was still a growing boy and short. Oh, so they WERE glass. Throwing something at them then probably would have been a terrible idea. He eyed them again, before shaking his head at her offer. "No, that's okay. I wouldn't want to make the shop keeper angry. Plus that would dirty up your candy." And who knew what kind of germs you could pick up on the floor of the candy store.
He also didn't really have anything else to contribute to the conversation regarding siblings, and if he tried too he'd probably end up just asking a million and one additional questions about if she knew exactly what had happened and if she could explain more about it because he was curious but also... he didn't really want to annoy people that he would potentially be going to school with so. So he just smiled back.
"Which chocolate IS yummy but..." Wanted something more fun and NEW. Sherberty, huh? "Well, I like Sherbert so that sounds like it would be good!" Maybe that's what he would actually try as soon as they paid because being surrounded by all of this candy was a little bit torturous and he was ready for some sugar now. But he wanted to make sure he went through the proper channels and paid FIRST before trying any treats. Giant's Gumball? He looked up to where she was pointing, "What's a giant's gum--" but he stopped mid sentence as his eyes widened and the jar floated down towards them.
WHUT.
And then the girl asked if HE did that? But... hadn't she? He didn't see anyone else around besides the two of them. "Um... if I did I didn't know it. It wasn't you?" He peered around them both again to see if he could spot anyone else around. But he still was just seeing more empty shelves.... "Is that not normal?"

"That sounds divine," he admitted with a nod, imagining the taste of blueberry and chocolate goodness mix. "It sounds good." He nodded and paused at her question. Home? Home was a curious matter.
Home? Well..... "I was born in Busan. South Korea. But then my family moved to the states. So kinda all over? What about you?" he asked.

Smiling ever so slightly and doing her best to not make a sarcastic clap at him, she nodded at him, her smile seemingly natural, her eyes now on the boy and not the sweets. “You know, I think you might have a point. I don’t want to get thrown out” and also did have a good point. The sweets would get dirty on the floor.
Would she have minded if he’d had a million questions? Probably not but that was partly due to the fact that she was used to it by now. People often asked her what it’s like to be a twin or what it’s like to have so many siblings and that they’re all older and all at Hogwarts so nothing really surprised her. Sometimes it was tiresome but acting was one of her forte’s.
Ingrid would have made some kind of joke at this point but her eyes were a little too preoccupied with the with the way the floating jar of giant gumballs was making their way towards them. “Uhh…if wasn’t me and it wasn’t you, who was it?”. Unsure if it was really normal, Ingrid quickly took the lid off the top of the jar and took a few giant gumballs from it, touching it as little as she possibly could. “I think I’m going to pay for these quickly before more of these jars fly towards us” , her eyes now moving around the room half expecting a ghost to appear through one of the walls or from behind the counter.
“Do you have everything you need?”, her eyes now moving to the stash of sweets that he already had. She didn’t just want to abandon him if he still needed some help but was ready to leave the creepy sweet shop.

"My parents... So my father works for the South Korean embassy.. We're assigned to different countries quite frequently but so far he's been assigned to the United States and the United Kingdom. Hence the moves," he explained with a small smile. He usually liked to avoid the subject of his father's travels and work because the knowledge of it usually led to trouble. Also Noah felt as if he were bragging every time he mentioned his father was a diplomat.
Noah paused, slowing his thoughts, when the younger girl excitedly mentioned that she was also from the States. A smile appeared on his lips when she said that. "Which part?" he asked, curious to know. He knew the states were all very different dependent on which region you hailed from. West, North East, South.... All different.
"My parents... So my father works for the South Korean embassy.. We're assigned to different countries quite frequently but so far he's been assigned to the United States and the United Kingdom. "California and Massachusetts," Kennedi replied happily. Either end of the United States. Talking about it made her long for home; but home has been a different amount of places lately. What mattered was the family was sticking together. As long as that didn't change, it was okay.
South Korean embassy. Kennedi listened and took in what Noah was saying as if it was the most normal thing. Which it is to her. She’s met different diplomats and their families during fancy occasions. "Do you enjoy moving to different places?" she asked curiously.
Then a question was directed at her. It was the 'parents' question. Nonchalant, Kennedi rocked gently on her feet. "My dad used to lead the DMLE at Macusa. Now he has his own private investigation practice." That reminded her of Darius, whom, as she took a peek at the window, was there. Vigilant. "It's expanded. That's why we're here now." She admires her dad SOOO much. Especially the way he likes helping people.
Nothing was said about a mother. There wasn't one.

He loved it. "Massachusetts is beautiful. I haven't visited California yet but my girlfriend grew up there. I owe her and her family a visit." Eventually. Visiting and meeting the family was scary. "Which state did you prefer? MA or CA?"
He shrugged his shoulders. Moving wasn't strange to him as his family had always done it. "It's not strange... It's kinda normal. I love going to school because I can escape and just... be me, y'know?" he offered. No one knew him or his past. He felt special.
Noah nodded, listening to Kennedi as she answered his question. He noted how she spoke only of her father and not her father. His father had her own practice? He thought that was incredible. "His own private practice? Incredible. Could you ever want that?"
As Jackson entered Sugarplums he felt how his whole 13 going on 14 year old body relaxed. It wasn’t his mum’s fault or sisters for that matter, but he was sometimes like his dad. He didn’t like overcrowded and stuffy places like a bookshop just days before Hogwarts. And not to mention too much talk about Divination had made him grab any chance he got to get out of the shop. Jackson tried to avoid thinking about anything pertaining to words like All seeing Eye and tarot cards. He knew that he had to talk to his mum about it eventually..Candies was this dark haired youth’s current lifeline. Could he get to buy some candy in peace please?
Having been in Sugarplums quite often Jackson quickly made his way over to the oddities and rarities section to pick up some of his favourite jelly slugs. He was about to go back to pick up some pumpkin pasties when he saw the fudge flies and cockroach clusters. Extending a hand to look at the fudge flies closer Jackson wondered if they were magical like the chocolate frogs.
His smile grew larger when he mentioned both states. His girlfriend grew up in California and he... He knew Massachusetts very, very well. Could this interaction get any better?! Kennedi thought not. It was amazing to have met someone who has things in common with her, even if it's places. She nodded in agreement. "Massachusetts for sure, even if it's too cold. See, I'm naturally a cold person--temperature wise," she added quickly. She didn't have a mean bone in her body. "My dad says that's the Slytherin in me." Get it? Because a snake is cold-blooded. Lol. "California is nice too, though," she said, not all too convincing. The state could be nice. It was just that it held unpleasant memories, so it took points from it.
"I understand," Kennedi said, biting her lip thoughtfully. She could sort of relate, only she prefers family over school. Yet again, this was going to be her real first year at a school-school. "What school do you attend?" she wondered aloud.
There was that small second her heart thudded a little faster, anxiously awaiting the mom question. When it didn't come, Kennedi relaxed and went along with the conversation. For that, she is grateful of Noah. "Yeah, he started in California, then another one in Massachusetts." Hence the moving. She then shook her head in response to his question. "No. What his job requires is brave people to go after the bad ones. I...heh, I'm not that brave," she mumbled sheepishly.
Tadhg needed a pick me up, after all the shopping he been doing for his upcoming first year he needed something sweet to keep himself moving. What better place then Sugarplum's candy store? One of his favorite places in all of Diagon Alley because the ice cream shop and the Quidditch shop. Already knowing his place around Diagon Alley very well, he walked into the shop and grabbed a basket his mum trailing at his heels making him groan. "Mum... I know my way around, I'm not a baby anymore!"
Determined to get away from his mum, he headed to get some chocolate frogs and some fudge for his pick me up that he needed. Placing a couple of sugarquills in there, he stopped at the fudge, dark or regular fudge that was the question both were good. As he did he heard his name a scream that sounded like his older sister which caused him to snicker and laugh.
"Tadhg my hair I'm going to kill you!" Hearing his sister find him he fell to the floor laughing. "Oh come on Sersh I think it's a good look for you, the blue makes your hair stand out like... cotton candy!" As his mother glared at him he rolled his eyes. " It's only a color dye potion mum, it'll wash out in a few days." His sister screaming she stormed out of the store as boys stared at her. "What? wanted boys to notice her more, thought I'll give her a lending hand they're sure looking at her now, she owes me big time."
Seeing his mother look and arms crossed he sighed. " I'm grounded aren't I?"

A dark eyed girl with her black hair in pigtails stood over by the rarities section looking at jelly slugs when she heard the scream that echoed through the shop. Who even screamed in a candy shop and more importantly why? Shaking her head curiously she looked over at her mum that stood only a few feet away but didn't ask about the scream. "Mummy, can i get some drooble gum and some other things?" Her mum; Sophie sighed and nodded "Sure, I'll be over by the counter getting daddy's favourite liquorice when your ready to pay and go look at cauldrons."
Right, she needed a new cauldron since she had accidentally melted the one she had gotten from the last visit to the shop. It happened, she was after all only 11 and learning potions. With her gum and slugs in her pocket Bella made her way through the shelves towards the chocolate frogs. She paused at the sight of a boy with his mother, that probably from the sound of things had had something to do with the scream earlier. It was best not to interfere, so Bella just brushed past the boy on her way to the shelf. Eyeing up the chocolate frog packets just out of reach Bella pouted loudly. "How tall does the shopkeeper think i am?"

Grayson was so excited. FINALLY! It was time to stock up on summer candy. He needed to get extra too. Miyu was going to visit sometime and he should have extra ready to split. Splitting candy was their thing after all.
He needed a basket and a place to start. Maybe starting from one end and moving to the other side of the store was the best option.

"I understand what a step stool is now, thank you." she mumbled kindly as she spotted her mother’s familiar figure by the liquorice section. Raising her voice Bella called "Mom, can you help me and Tadgh get some chocolate frogs packets down, they are so high up?"
Sophie heard more in the single word 'mom' than Bella probably knew. Her daughter was feeling a little nervous in the packed shop she guessed. "Of course I can assist you and your new friend dear." Turning her attention to the boy by her daughter’s side she greeted "Hello Tadgh was it? It’s nice to meet you. I’m Isabella’s mother, Sophie." Bella wanted to sink through the floor. Why did mum always have to be so correct and polite all the time? Hoping Tadgh understood she mouthed 'sorry' to him before she answered his earlier question proudly. “My mum was a Gryffindor and my dad was a Slytherin and my grandparents were Hufflepuffs I think, but honestly we’ve got all the houses on our family tree.”

She knew he was coming into Diagon today because they spoke so often. Noiselessly, she approached him from behind and suddenly CLEARED HER THROAT LOUDLY.
"Hey, Grayson," she smirked slightly, more a hint of one than a full-on smirk. Her lips were only slightly curled.

Grayson was busy BROWSING all the things! There were so many sweets and he was busy internally devising a plan on how much he could possibly physically hold and how much money he had on him and how much he deserved (hint, a lot).
Then there was a sudden noise behind him. He jumped just a bit, holding a hand to his heart, and spun around. "You surprised me." he said with a happy smile, knowing, before his eyes landed on her, who it was.
The height of his jump amused her. Miyu actually let out an audible, small laugh, covering her mouth so it wouldn't be any louder than it already it was (which wasn't very; she did not audibly chuckle often). "That was the point. I followed you here, you know. If someone were trying to kill you, they'd have an easy go of it. You're completely unaware of your surroundings, you know," she nudged him before taking some of the candy from his hands.
"What are you buying all this for?" she raised an eyebrow before handing it back. Miyu was always aware of her surroundings. In fact, every time the little bell rang that signaled someone new entering the shop, Miyu was turned around seeing who had entered. She was also aware of anyone that was too close to them, inadvertently side stepping so she wasn't close to strangers. She didn't like strangers very much.
The bell tinkled again, and Miyu's eyes glanced toward's the doorway once more. Just a few kids coming for candy. She turned back to her friend, her heart's quickened pace relaxing once more.
