Every child in Wizarding Britain knows that Sugarplum's is the place to be. You can smell the sticky sweetness and bursts of flavour as soon as you walk through the door, the little candy themed bell, enchanted to transform into a different type of candy every hour, will tinkle merrily to announce your arrival, but we won't be surprised if you don't notice it, after all your eyes have a rainbow of delectable sweets to feast on.
Shelves among shelves of different types of wizarding sweets are ranged in aisles before you. The shelves stretch up to the roof and big glass jars display every type of candy imaginable. Can't reach? No worries! Just say the type of candy out loud and the jar will float down to you, ready to scoop out the required amount. Everything is labeled, so it shouldn't be too hard to find what you're looking for. There are a stack of baskets to the right of the last shelf - go ahead and grab one if you need it! There are four gumball machines near the exit to the sweet shop. If you have any knuts in your pocket that you are just dying to get rid of, why not buy a few gumballs with them? All you have to do is place two knuts inside the little slot, turn the knob, and watch as the gumball travels down the maze and to the little compartment at the bottom.
Once you've finished your shopping, you need to escort yourself to the check out counter located on the right side of the store. The shopkeeper can usually be found behind the counter, scooping and weighing sweets for the customers ahead of you.

America? That’s pretty cool. Eniola thought. “It’s nice to meet you! I haven’t met anyone from America before. Do you like it there?” She asked. “I’m not big on chocolate myself. I prefer purer forms of sugar...as in coated in sugar. Mum thinks I’m going to get diabetes before I’m 20 because I have so much sugar.”
Eniola shook Aurora’s outstretched hand and smiled. “Well, welcome! I hope you enjoy Hogwarts. It takes a bit of an adjustment when you’re from another country, it’s easy to miss home - trust me, but people are really friendly.” Eni hope she was being assuring for her future schoolmate as she gave her a small smile.
There was a hint of smile on her lips. Aurora believed in first impression and this girl seemed nice. "Nice to meet you too." She formally said as shaking her hand and slightly nodding. For most people, America seemed like a huge country with full of dreams and expectations, hence there was a phrase called "American Dream." and well.... it was true. At least that's why her paternal grandparents left Seoul to San Francisco and worked at one of those huge IT company there. Did she like it there? "Yeah, I did." San Francisco was her second hometown since her grandparents and some family still lived there, but Boston was her home. It was sad to leave but Aurora was excited to be here.
Purer forms of sugar? "Don't tell me you often snack sugar cubes." She said jokingly. Of course nobody took sugar cubes as snacks. As the fact of getting adjusted with new life in new country, Aurora did feel a little bit culture shock when she first came here. Was she nervous for Hogwarts? A little bit, but she's more excited about it since she had been homeschooled for OWLs since the beginning of this year. "Thanks, I'm looking forward for it." She had met some students around and yes, she thought some of them were friendly.

Aha! She got Aurora to smile! That felt like an accomplishment for Eni, she’s always worried she’s putting her foot in her mouth so this was a nice change. Oh, Eni wished she could visit America one day. She’s heard of the muggle amusement parks there, they’re supposed to be the “happiest place on Earth” and Eni loved the adrenaline she’s sure she’d have in those death defying contraptions. “Do you mind me asking: why didn’t you leave if you enjoyed it there?”
Welllllllll, there had been that one time in the kitchens at Hogwarts she was desperate for a fix to get her through exams and the house elves refused to give her any more sugar because she’d had so much coffee already so she may or may not have stolen a pack of sugar cubes. But there’s no telling anyone else that. Nope, that is saved away, buried under lock and key never to be spoken of again. Eni chuckled awkwardly, “No, of course not! Who would do that? It’s not like I’ve ever been that desperate for sugar.”
Eni smiled hearing that she’s even a tad excited. “Maybe you’ll be sorted into Hufflepuff and we’ll be housemates! If not, we should still have some classes together, so there will always be a friendly face.”

Wow, this girl was quite a straightforward huh?
Not that she mind, though. Aurora found her... intriguing. "Parents and their job, quite a classic story." Not that kind of tear-jerking family drama, thank Sayre. "But I don't mind, though. My sister has been living here since she graduated school and she said London is just as nice as Boston." Truth to told, she was quite nervous with the new school. Especially she often got rumors about Hogwarts and its lacked of Safety and her parents asked her if she really wanted to go there, back to Ilvermorny or just continue with her homeschooling... No, thanks. Aurora knew her parents were great tutors but homeschooled wasn't her thing.
The Korean-American raised her brows. Yeah, stealing sugar cubes sounded like someone who was desperately craving for sugar. "You're right." Her lips twitched into a smirk. Reading Eni's body language, this girl probably had done it once which was okay for her. Aurora couldn't judge her of that because some people at least had done stupid things to overcome their liking into something like herself with make up and skin care products, for example.
So she's also a Hufflepuff? Earlier Aurora had met another girl who was a Hufflepuff. What a coincidence. "We'll see." Right now, she had no idea what house she's going to since the housing and sorting system is different than Ilvermorny.

Lucas had counted out his pocket money veeeeery carefully for this trip to Diagon Alley. Counted twice and then three times and then another time after that. And all of that counting had told him the same thing every time: that he had enough money for some sweets.
So, here he was. A little taller than before and a little..... er, ganglier than he'd like, but still the same Lucas who wanted those delicious pieces of fudge. It was because of this that he wandered towards that section first, nudging his way past the crowd and, uh, trying to think of nothing else apart from the sweets and his destination and not the crowd no oh no.
Breathe.
After a quick squeeze past a group of people, the third year found himself stumbling right in front of the fudge aisle. His green eyes immediately found the row of chocolate dragons and he felt a small grin spread itself across his face. Even if he couldn't get anything else, that was what he was going home with. A chocolate DRAGON.
But it was all the way up there and he was all the way down here and he was NOT speaking out loud in front of so many people. His voice might shake and the shelves might not understand and he would find himself leaving with something he didn't want out of sheer embarrassment - and not wanting to embarrass himself by putting it back.

So, there was nothing else for it.

Ellie had enough pocket money left to buy herself a small bag of Sugarplums best sweets. The things she had left to buy herself before meeting her stepmother at the Leaky was a new telescope since the one she had didn’t resemble a telescope any more and a new one couldn’t be so expensive could it? Entering Sugarplums with a spring in her step and a smile on her face the brown haired 13 year old girl googled around as she tried to take in all the different candy sections at once.
She had just gotten herself two packets of droobles and creature feature bubblegums when she felt how someone squeezed past behind her, knocking into her and causing her to drop her packets. "Hey! Look where you’re going," she muttered loudly as she bent to pick up her gums. Looking around for who had brushed past her she just saw the gangly back of a boy about her own age heading for the fudges.
On an impulse Ellie followed after the boy even though she wasn’t a big fudge fan. Maybe tasting a milk chocolate one could change her mind? Stopping beside the boy to look up at what he was eyeing on the top shelf and then down at him again she couldn’t not comment to him. "You should find a ladder. That look’s doomed already from the beginning, unless your arms can grow long like an octopus."

Eni knew she must not have been very believable if Aurora was chuckling at her. She couldn't help but blush.

After much shopping and her school list finally done for the upcoming year, Stella was relieved and she could finally go to her favorite shop in all of Diagon Alley. She was running low of her chocolate frogs and sugar quills, she needed some more. Although she was probably going to eat them along with the help of Oceanus her boyfriend before they gotten back to school. Giggling at the thought of it, she walked into the store heading towards the chocolate frogs. Saying 'excuse me' and 'sorry' she grabbed a basket she knew she'll needed and walked towards the chocolate frogs.
Grabbing a handful of chocolate frogs, she put them in her basket biting her lip she looked at the fudge and wondered if she should get any or not, she decided against it. Although she wasn't going to turn down chocolate frogs they were her favorite besides sugar quills. Oh... yeah, she almost forgot about those! Good thing she reminded herself about those. Heading towarde the sugar quills she grabbed a handful setting them in her basket biting her lip looking around. What else did she want? Maybe some more bubble gum or so would be nice... those jellybeans that make different noises are nice... so many choices.

Did Lucas hear the muttering?
No. Not a bit. Not even a word.
With his eyes focused so much on the fudge, all he could think about was trying to reach them. What was the point of all that growth over the past, uh, year only to STILL be too small? And it had still hurt him, just like it was now hurting his tippy-toes to be tip-toeing so-
........
..............
Lucas froze. Find a ladder? Doomed? Octopus arms?! His brain, as it always did in these kind of situations, was bursting with thoughts and ideas and theories and not one of them made any sense to him. They were buzzing around to the point where he was struggling to think properly of what to do right here right now.
But one thing he did know was that the voice wasn’t one he had heard before. So, the boy turned around dramatically slowly and was met with....... someone. Someone he didn’t recognise at all. And he was standing there, one arm still stretched up as far as it could go.
UH.
What do you say to this? "Uh, well," he started, stepping down and facing her properly, "Octopus arms would be a really cool trick. Just wave your arms and you can reach anything you want." At this, he glanced up at the chocolate dragon, his nose scrunched up slightly. "The chocolate dragon fudges are the best ones but they always put them so far away. No one can reach that!" He was sure of it.

Eleanor watched with curiosity how the boy kept stretching his arm up and up as far as he could reach. Had he not heard her? Saved the need to comment again she was though when the dark curly haired boy turned around dramatically slow for some kind of effect most likely, that was lost on her, to face her.
Smiling a little she said. "Yes, just waving your arms and they’d lengthen like an octopus would be a really neat trick to see. Too bad we aren’t allowed to use magic outside of school." Ellie could think of a number of spells that could come in handy in this boy’s predicament.
Raising her gaze to look up at the chocolate dragon fuges she shrugged when she looked at the boy and repeated again. "So what’s wrong with finding a ladder? Or you could ask the shopkeeper for assistance?" He had now admitted to himself that the fudges we’re too far out of of reach like she had seen directly. "What’s so good about dragon fudges anyway?" Ellie wondered as she remembered her manners, and introduced herself. "I’m Eleanor by the way. Most call me Ellie though."

Sweets were probably the best thing on Earth.
Analiese walked into Sugarplum's Sweet Shop for a much deserved treat. She had given all her shopping to her mum, who was waiting at the Leaky Cauldron. After all that tedious shopping for her first year, Analiese walked around, with her head down, reading Quidditch Through the Ages by Kennilworthy Whisp. She would occasionally look up to see where she was going. The 11-year-old's hand brushed past the stack of baskets at the front of the shop. Would she need one? Analiese took one basket and looked for some chocolate.
Chocolate. All kinds of chocolate. That was all that was around her as she stood in the chocolate section. Analiese quickly took two bars of white chocolate and placed it in her basket.
As Analiese walked to where sugar quills were, she was reading the book in her hand. This was what caused her to bump into another girl, who looked around 4 years older than her. "Sorry!", Analiese apologized.

Eni knew she must not have been very believable if Aurora was chuckling at her. She couldn't help but blush.
But at least she didn't have to move across country because of tragic background. Aurora had often found some of her friends back in Ilvermorny had to do that either because of separation or death of a parent/family. She should've been thankful for her family. "I am! Although it's just temporary since now I'm going to Hogwarts, but at least we're closer now." Jasmine was her support system, and it was sad when her sister decided to go to London for university but it was her life choice and she did good, so Aurora was happy for her.
The Korean-American did notice the blushing, but she's going to ignore that because she had no idea why Eniola was blushing and probably if she teased her about that, the girl would feel more uncomfortable. Grabbing a couple of more candies, she looked at her wristwatch. Oops, Aurora remembered she had to meet her sister in five minutes. "So this was fun, I guess I'll see you at school then."

Victoria needed a break. It was colder now and most everyone had their winter robes bought so she was busy on all things Hogwarts, and yet. Here she was ready to take a break. Something sweet called for this. Pulling her jacket and scarf just a little bit tighter before walking into the candy store, she smiled like a young child.
Moving around the shelves and dispensers she wanted to go straight to the source of all her delight, fudge. She could really go for some fudge right now.

Conley hadn't found the right thing to send his boyfriend out on the street. He pushed open the door to the store, knowing how much Sachin liked sweets. Maybe he would find the perfect 'I'm sorry for canceling our plans' gift in here. He paused inside the door, a little overwhelmed by all the sweets. It had been years since he'd set foot inside of a candy shop, as he personally, wasn't a huge fan of sugar.
He wandered a little, then slowly found himself near the fudge. If he remembered correctly, Sachin did enjoy chocolates. He paused looking at the selections, the noticed a young lady nearby. "Have you tried any of these? Are they good?" he asked. Best to get some recommendations, right?

Pursing her lips she looked over the selections. Peanut butter... chocolate...mint chocolate? She just couldn't decide on what she wanted something sweet, yet salty. Or at least that was what her brain was currently telling her. Glancing further down into the case she finally decided she was going to get... oh someone asked a question.
Popping back up and turning her head she noticed someone older than her she assumed. But not by much. She smiled at him, "oh yeah. I'm a big fan of the peanut butter or the chocolate. Do you have a certain taste for something?" She wanted to make sure she gave a good recommendation.

She looked a bit shocked to see him. Was he that out of place looking in the sweets shop? Or did he look as poorly as he was feeling? Depression usually did that to him, he remembered. He tried to put on a smile and hoped it didn't look too forced. "No, looking for a gift for someone." He watched her stand up. "I don't really eat sweets." He rubbed the back of his neck in a hapless manner. "Or haven't really eaten them much since I was a kid."

She nodded as he spoke. She knew that feeling. It was a rare occasion that she decided she needed sweets—pure candy. “Ah, well depending on their taste I like the simple flavors. I like a small piece here and there.” her smile reached her eyes as she thought back to all of the times her grandma would make fudge for her as a child. How she missed her.
Smiling she turned a bit toward him, “well if you made it through my rambling, I like simple things. Can’t go wrong with the basics.” she was about to glance back and decide for herself when she heard him say he didn’t eat many sweets. It always surprised her to hear something of the sort but honestly, she felt the same way. “Understandable. I don’t eat them too often.”

”Well,” he said slowly, thinking of Sachin’s tastes. He seemed to like and be open to anything. ”I’d say they have more of an adventurous taste in things,” He felt a little foolish asking for help, but he wanted to make sure he got something the man would really enjoy and that might help take the sting out of his cancelation. Maybe he’d get a mixture of both – simple and exotic. But fudge? Maybe fudge was a bit too much. It seemed more like a one flavor type of gift. ”I’m not sure fudge is the right thing,” he said simply looking around the store. Maybe he should just send flowers. It sure seemed simpler.
He gave her a shy smile as she returned his declaration of only eating sweets on occasion. Conley had learned long ago that his waistline wasn’t the most forgiving and until recently, his diet had consisted of a lot of takeout foods. Sweets, just didn’t make the cut in things he could allow himself to eat without getting fat. He glanced over at the lady, pulling himself out of his thoughts and realized she had gone back to looking at the fudge selections. He wandered to a shelf nearby, looking at the boxes of truffles.

Although she wasn't looking directly at him, she could tell that something was off. She hadn't put her very observant finger on it yet. But she knew something wasn't right. Standing upright again, "Well if fudge isn't the..." She glanced around only to see that he had meandered off to the boxes of truffles. She looked back at the fudge before looking back at him. Clearing her throat and walking closer, "What would you get them. No thinking what is the first thing that comes to mind?"
Her mother used to do this with her and her sister when they were kids and couldn't decide on a specific item in the store. First thing that came to mind was going to be the thing they got. It worked more often than not and she often used it in her gift giving.

An apology, he thought, but that's why he was getting the candy to send along. "Chocolates," he said under her direction that he not think about it. "Maybe some caramel chocolates," he said putting the box of cherry truffles back on the shelf. He glanced over at the lady. Maybe she had the right idea with the 'not thinking' direction. Was he being like Sachin and overthinking everything? He was sure Sachin wouldn't be that upset, but they had made these plans a while ago and Conley felt really poorly about canceling on him.
Conley gave the lady another shy smile. "But I'm not sure it would be enough though," he turned towards her about to ask her if they'd be enough to take the sting off of having to cancel plans for her, but then paused. Was he getting too personal? Was he spreading his business around? He decided it was a vague enough question. "What would want to receive if your significant other had to cancel plans?" It had been so long since he had to deal with these kind of problems. Sometimes, he missed being single.
No, no, he really didn't miss being single and now he felt guilty for even having thought about being single again.
The last year had been the single most difficult year of any Stemp's life. With all of the waiting, worrying, wondering and more waiting, time had dragged, and only recently had the weight on Adam's shoulders started to alleviate. Having Ringo back in England, not only alive but safe and getting better was like a dream - so much so that there were times when he woke up with the worst kind of ache before he realised.
The relief? That wouldn't be something he'd be getting used to any time soon.
Having his family around him made Adam never want to be apart from them - he even wished his eldest son was there more often, but he knew that Corbin was present as often as he could be. And with the summer holiday's drawing closer, he knew that it wasn't long before the staff at Stemp House needed a bit more of a hand - and he also knew that he wouldn't be tearing Lilah from Ringo's bedside anytime soon.
So he decided to take a moment away from the hospital corridors and head into Diagon Alley, buy his children some treats before the street was overwhelmed with kids.
He knew that Sparrow liked fudge, but what flavour? He'd just have to get them all, wouldn't he?

It seemed that husband and wife had had the same idea with what was a good distraction and way to get back into some sort of normalcy for the children that they had allowed to come home early from school. Which.. was all of them minus Maverick who had insisted that he stayed. Lorelai knew how difficult the decision would have been for him, but she trusted that he knew what was best for his situation and most likely best for his girlfriend.
She had left the hospital probably minutes after her husband had, her excuse being that their youngest daughter had a group to get to. They'd all agreed that keeping Ocky in her routine would be best for her in the long run. She didn't need to spend hours a day at the hospital and Ringo didn't need hours of his day with a toddler crawling over the legs that he wasn't able to use. Lori had dropped Ocky back with Saffron who was going to take both her sister and her son to soft play. Thank Merlin for her first set of twins helping out as much as they had recently. Lorelai had no idea what state of mind she would have been in had they not.
Hip bumping against Adam's, she smiled. "Fudge means Sparrow. But also Liberty."

As it was said (by Adam many, many times throughout the course of his marriage) great minds thought alike, and his mind was second greatest only to that of Lorelai. When her hip bumped his, his face stretched into an easy smile - the smile that Lilah said 'shone love' and was reserved just for the mother of his children. Being with her was a relaxation technique in itself, even if they were just bumping into each other in a sweet store.
"Double the fudge it is, then," Adam said as he held the basket out toward his wife. "Does anyone still like the jumping bug gummy things or is that just Reuben?" And Albert, of course - Saffrons boyfriend was a massive child at heart, really, but Adam was eternally grateful for the amount the couple had done for them.

What did you do when you were suddenly seeing a ton of students running around the Alley? Grab all of the sweets. Chocolate, check. Fudge, check. Licorice, even though Victoria hated the stuff, check. She had this all on lock and she would absolutely have all of the sugar needs necessary to get her work done. She smiled as she milled about looking for some hard candy of some sort. She still hadn't found one she liked but figured she could at least keep looking like eventually she would find one.
Here he was again, killing time while his mama was in town at the university. He liked some fudge and he figured all the running and weight training he was doing to make the quidditch team again would stave off the gaining of any weight. He had worked really hard since he had gotten home for the summer.
He had gone back here and there to see his grandparents but being 17 already he was too old for the Baseball team back home so he was just giving lessons here and there. But he had spent more time in Europe this summer. Jolie would be proud of him... well if she knew he hadn't seen her much. He supposed he should drop her a letter to see how she was doing sometime soon. Eyeing the fudge display he tried to decide what exactly it was he wanted.
And finally, after picking up her books and robes, Nora raced into Sugarplum's sweets shop to get her first stash of candy for the first four months in school, which includes Halloween stash in mind of course. Once inside, she beamed like a five year old at seeing all those delicious, mouth watering caramels in front of her.
Grabbing her basket, she walked around the shop, giving everything a first look before rushing into a final decision. It wasn't easy, her hands wanted to grab and her mouth to call all she could see.

Ethan hated sweets. Like hated. His father only cared for lemondrops, but he wasn't really interested in the sweets, which is why it was maybe a little ironic for the rising fifth year to be in the sweet shop.
He wasn't the least bit surprised though to find a certain gryffindor hufflepuff in there selecting treats. Grinning he shook his head. "I don't think you need to be buying out the whole store. Sugar isn't good for memory retention anyway." He had no idea if that was true or not, but it was there owl year and he needed all the help he could get in terms prepping and had no doubts Nora too.
