Lining the wall away from the bowling lanes was an enormous, rectangular table holding the raffle items available for guests to place wagers on. Everything, from a shrunken head to spending a day with a famous Quidditch player, you can find just about any interest you have on this table. Write your name on a card and pay the allotted required payment and viola! You might just get picked for any number of these VERY special baskets!
Put your name in one, put your name in all of them, put your name in all of them twice—whatever you want to spend, go right ahead! All proceeds go to the new minister’s budget. Each entry costs a galleon.
OOC: Feel free to RP here to your heart’s content, but if you wish to enter for one of the 13 baskets just put which basket(s) your character wishes to enter in for and how many entries he/she will be entering with. Winners will be announced near the end of the event in THIS thread!

Persy hadn't yet seen Willie, but that didn't mean she couldn't wander around and look at everything. There were a fair few raffles that looked......pretty good, to be honest.
She wanted that basket with the custom fragrance. #6. She was glad she'd brought more gold than she probably needed to this thing. Ten galleons going into winning that basket, yet.
"I should get Willie to donate something, too..." she whispered to herself. The newly divorced thirty-year-old thought she looked HECKA good considering her recent grumpiness. She'd probably even send a selfie of herself to her ex, "pretending" to send it to someone new...when in fact, it was totally meant for him.
Pffft.
Stupid, stupid men.

These sort of events were fraught for Emmalee, dancing over the line between personal and professional. She was here in a work capacity - how could a department head not come to the mixer for the minister candidates - but the nature of the event required small talk. Personal niceties. She hoped, perhaps against hope itself, that no one would inquire after her family. She was already dreading the conversations that would come when the name on her door switched once more.
The raffle tables, then, seemed a good place to begin her evening, as one could walk along their length in relative silence, under the assumption that they were contemplating their choices. And largely, she was. Emmalee was looking for something for her girls. Something fun for them all, in the face of... everything that was happening.
She paused in front of the basket that contained abraxan rides and sanctuary tours. She sighed, looking at the single plush toy. One toy would not do for two girls and they were perhaps too young for the rides. She did, however, make mental note to call after Tiberius. They'd not spoken much recently.
Emmalee kept moving, coming to a stop in front of Basket #4. Yes. Perfect. A family portrait session for her and her girls. The painting was nice, too, but what she really wanted was an afternoon with her daughters, capturing smiles. She quickly deposited ten entries. But to kill some more time, she continued along the table. She paused, considering Basekt 6, and rolled the items over in her head as someone else put their own entries in. That certainly would be a nice treat for herself... and didn't she deserve one? Five entries for Basket 6.
Satisfied with her actual entries, Emmalee nevertheless continued to examine each basket in turn. Perhaps she could stay here most of the night.
OOC: 10 entries Basket #4; 5 entries Basket #6

So this was the ministry's meet and greet. Well it was definitely different then what Germany would have, but to each their own and Warner was interested and being here. He lived and worked here now so finding out what the candidates stood for would be interesting. Immigration was on the top of his list of questions. Being that it was his job and all, plus he was kind of one since transferring from Germany.
Looking at all the baskets he wasn't even sure what he would do with any of this stuff, but supporting the ministry he bought the tickets and looked around. Putting 3 entries in basket 3, 4 entries in basket 7, and 3 entries in basket 9. After he had finished putting the entries in he turned and looked around the room. Seeing other people there.
"Hello, find exciting things here?" Small talk was never what he was good at and having being a bit shyer he never knew how to start up a conversation, but these were fellow ministry workers... maybe? He'd probably see them again sometime so nice was the best way to go.
Another woman had put entries in basket #6. Well.............Persy didn't want to EAT her or anything, pffft. She merely eyed the woman up and down a few times before glancing at the person...talking to her. And the other woman, apparently.
"I don't know if I would use the word exciting," she said with a sigh. "Just...more interesting than bowling. I don't bowl." What ludicrous person had decided BOWLING was the event...pfffft. "Not a big fan of the shoes...or....anything." Unsanitary. "I'm Persy...Rodrigo," she said with a grin. Her married name was no longer! "Campaign manager for Willie Smith, candidate for Minister for Magic," she would have to be nicer than she really wanted to be...for Willie's sake anyways. "The food smells so good and...wow everyone looks so nice here today..."
Pained. Those words were pained to say.

Willie popped her head into the raffle area really quick out of curiosity. Spotting her campaign manager, she headed over, taking a look at the raffle baskets on the way. "Hello, hello!!" Willa greeted, patting Persy on the shoulder gently. "These all look rather tempting, don't they? Hard to choose." She bent down to examine the basket in front of them.

While Cassie was off talking with the candidates, Charlotte decided to head over to the raffle sections. Of course she wanted to meet the candidates, but that could come later. She would let her girlfriend do most of the talking before wandering over for herself. If she didn't check out the raffle prizes she wasn't sure if Cassie would ever get around to it, and then how could they win anything?
There were a few people in the area and they appeared to be talking amongst themselves. Seeing as Charlotte didn't know any of them she simply smiled politely as she passed, but focused her attention on the baskets. There were several that appealed to her.

Wouldn't consider exciting, well he could see her point, but he felt a few were. "I have a few nieces and nephews that might think its exciting and I'll be uncle of the year if they could get them." He could be hopeful for brownie points. Especially with Alecia crashing on his couch for a while. "I can see your point though. I do hope they achieve their expectations with all of this." It was exciting though, meeting all the candidates.
"In Germany we do similar things for the ministry election, but never a bowling alley. It was a bit creative of them." Really reaching out to the community it seemed.
Oh she was a manager. It made sense. "Warner McCarthy, International Cooperation. The food does smell good. "

He was about to head to another area when he noticed one of his coworkers from his department. "Hey Cassie, going to put in for lots of things here?" He looked around the room again at the raffle baskets. "Got a favorite candidate yet?" What else did you really talk about at these things, but the election. He wasn't fully sure, but the only person he truly knew was Jorge for family reasons.
