Aspen hadn't exactly been expecting her father to mention her makeup, little as she put on, but maybe small parts of her were hoping. Maybe later. Maybe... she hadn't put enough on? Hmm. Maybe.

"The Menagerie is next!" ....."Egbert!" Yes, she DID already have her yet-to-be-hers bat named. "I think bats are underutilized," Aspen began as they left out of the shop. She swung her bag from Primpernelles, happy to put the awkwardness of their first stop behind them.

When Gloriana spotted the store she ran up to it as fast as she could, completely ignoring the fact that the squib couldn't keep up. Maybe that was for the best. She pushed the store's door open and quickly became lost. She didn't know where to start, so she just kept walking and looking around until she came across the make up counter. Her jaw dropped to the floor when she saw all the pretty colors of make ups that the store had. She wanted to buy all of it, but she probably didn't have enough monies to do that, no point in even counting. Ew, counting, calculating. No, she would just take whatever she liked, even though it would be difficult to choose, then proceed to the cashier and hope she had enough to pay for all of it.

The first set of colors she wanted to look at first were the pinks. She liked them, even though people always said pink didn't look very good on her because of her bright red hair. Eh, what do they know? Speaking of annoying people, she turned around, where is the squib. "I hope he got lost..." She said to herself as she continued to admire the different eyeshadows and lipsticks. Oooh, she wanted them all!! Yes, yes, yes!

Charlie was lost. He kept turning around on the spot. Where was he? It was a jungle of horrible colours. Lipsticks, the sign said. He screamed, and fell to the floor in a panic. He landed in the foetal position, with his hands over his head, to protect his eyes from the colour. He whimpered slightly, as he tried to wriggle away from the horror. He didn't get very far, since he looked like a retarded worm. At least he wasn't cut in half. Wriggle wriggle wriggle. Someone save him. Pleeeease.

Sophie walked up to the counter and bought 3 of each thing

Even though Elizabeth thinks that she is natually (beautiful and she was) she thought to her self as she walked in to Madame Primpernelles and walked to the makeup counter A little make up never hurt anyone. But her style didn't call for colors like Pink, Rose or Natural. Her style called for colors more like Blues, Purples, Dark Reds and even Blacks. So she walks up to the make-up counter and starts looking around and finds exactly what she was looking for. so she grabbed Black Mascara and Light blue, Purple, Blue, green and gold eyeshadow.

Her bestfriend Quill saw all of the dark colors that Elizabeth was holding and gave her the are you kidding me? look. Elizabeth didn't have to say anything she talked with her eyes and that scared Quill he knew something bad was about to happen.

Lauren practically gulped when she took in all the make up products. There are so many, she thought.
She turned to Orchid after taking it all in, smiling awkwardly. "Well, what would you fix?" Lauren asked, hoping Orchid wouldn't suggest that she is a total trainwreck! "Umm, I'll need haircare, too," she commented, tenderly touching a lock of her tawny blonde hair. This was going to be a mission, that's for sure! But at least she had her new friend to show her the ropes.

"Lauren, there is nothing to fix, you're beautiful, okay? We are just going to enhance that beauty." Orchid said with a smile as she sat her on to the chair in front of the mirror and spun her around so she couldn't see anything in the mirror - peaking is cheating! "Close your eyes please, miss." She said trying to be all formal like, which just ended up sounding cheesy or something she was sure.
"Okay so we're going to go with the natural look seen as you're a newbie with makeup and we're just out shopping for the day." Orchid said as she grabbed her eyeshadow from her makeup bag in her purse and applied the light brown shade one both eyelids. "When you do natural makeup try going for more browns and nudes so that everything still blends in well with your skin but makes it pop more as well." She said as she used the medium brown liguid eyeliner the shop provided, and that she herself had bought; she then proceeded to put the natural #1 blush that the store brovided on her cheeks lightly to try and soften them a little more then they already were. "And for the final touches, black mascara and a touch of lip gloss." Orchid said as she turned her around in her chair. "Now, you said something about your hair...?"

Lauren blushed tremendously at Orchid's words, and then on an impulse, hugged her. "Thank you. I uh, don't hear things like that very often," she confessed.
She then sat, following Orchid's instructions and closed her eyes tightly, giggling at her silly tone of voice. She listened to her discussion of the makeup and nodded to indicate she was listening. Throughout the application her nose crinkled occasionally, mostly because she was very ticklish!
Finally, Orchid revealed her new face and she was surprised. Her friend had been right, it was her, but just enhanced.
"Hey, that's actually really good. You've got a knack for this," she praised. "I like it," Lauren confessed, smiling broadly. "I'll grab some of the stuff then?" she gestured to it, feeling a bit lost.

"Uh, yeah. My hair. I tend to wash it... with soap," Lauren mumbled the last part, concerned about Orchid's reaction.

Orchid was surprised at first when she felt like she was being tackled, she even almost screamed but then realized it was just a hug, so she hugged back. Wow. I haven't had a hug from anyone but dad in forever! She thought and a radiant, permanent smile appeared on her face. "Your dad thinks it don't worry, sometimes people just aren't as good as me at showing their love and affection." Orchid said as she tossed her hair over her shoulder dramatically.

Orchid blushed at her words and then smiled. "No, this stuff has already been bought and paid for by moi, you and are going to roam the aisles until we get your makeup and hair products." She said with a wink.

"With soap huh? Hmm...as long as you have a seperate bar for your body I guess I don't see a problem except that you are going to need to use conditioner, it'll help your hair work wonders, trust me!" Orchid said as she grabbed her things and put them back in her makeup bag and then grabbed Lauren's arm and dragging her to the makeup aisles and then the hair products.

Lauren smiled and laughed at Orchid, still blushing furiously. It was so weird having this extremely emotional moment in the middle of a make up store, but that was life. Life was filled with unexpected moments and that's what makes it so beautiful, after all.

"Oh!" Lauren felt silly, but it made sense. "Well, I'll want all of these colours then. And maybe a different lip gloss, eye liner and eye shadow." She was rambling, but she realised that Orchid's enthusiasm was so infectious that she was actually getting into all of this stuff.

At least her friend didn't freak out at her treatment of her poor hair. "Nah, I should abandon that habit and try to go with some shampoo. And maybe some product, it can be a bit unmanageable at times," Lauren confessed. Soon, she found herself being dragged by the arm to the aisles of the store, but she didn't mind so much. At least Orchid wasn't rude or pushy.

"Hey, what did you think of the shopkeeper? Pretty easy on the eyes, huh?" she mentioned conversely with a dramatic waggle of her brows"

"Okay then, let's go look!" Orchid was to happy to stop herself from thinking that this was her friend spending money and that she may not have the unlimited amount that she does with all of her mother's divorces and rich ex-husbands and current husband.

"Perfect! I can't wait to shop! I swear this is one of the only times I ever get truly girly!" Orchid beamed and almost squeeled as she bounced on her heels.

"Yeah, he was pretty nice, but also pretty off limits seen as we are still minors." She mock scowled as her smile broke through when Lauren made her eyebrows dance.

"Don't turn into a girl on me now," Lauren teased playfully, but after a moment of pretending to frown, she returned Orchid's grin with equal enthusiasm. "Well, off to the aisles then!" she declared.

"Now, now," Lauren tutted with mock seriousness "Checking out an artwork doesn't mean you have to buy the whole gallery, if ya know what I mean." She winked dramatically and made her way over to the shop aisles.

Lily saw the girl grab lots of black eye make-up and smiled. Ah, she thought, a like-minded soul.

She browsed through the magical make-up and grabbed herself a black volumising mascara along with black, brown and midnight blue eyeshadows.

A rosey-pink lipstick will go nicely with this, she thought, grabbing the most expensive lipstick on the shelf, and perhaps a similar blusher.

A wave of panic struck her all of a sudden. What if I run out? Quickly, she grabbed another 2 of everything she had picked off the shelf. Great thinking.

Leolaine's mother wasn't ready to visit Diagon Alley yet... even if it was her for her FIRST year at Hogwarts! Sigh... but she understood. Her mother was a Muggle and still coming to terms with sending her firstborn (and eventually her two younger siblings) to a magical boarding school that: 1) she'd never heard of--she's a Muggle... and her father hadn't really ever expanded much on the whole being magical and whatnot; 2) was so far away from our home in Southern California; 3) emphasized just how much she wouldn't able to understand and empathize with a whole 7 years (and perhaps even many years beyond) of her chilren's lives.

She hoped she'd take her first trip to pick out makeup with her mom, too... but her father said this was the best store for cosmetics--he trusted the potions master's crafts here far more than the myriad profits-driven chemical-laden Muggle creations available back at home. Luckily, her father was also a very kind and supportive man and he'd read up on and talked to her mother about the essential Muggle items and then to his sister to learn what the magical equivalents would be. He also had his sister recommend colors and products appropriate for Leolaine's platinum straight hair, olive skin, almond-shaped blue eyes, and especially her young age--she would only turn 11 basically as the Hogwarts Express left King's Cross. He wanted his daughter to be happy (espcially since her mother wasn't with them) and feel grown up without looking TOO grown up and he really hoped his wife would come around some and allow herself and their younger--also magical--children to accompany him to pick up Leolaine from the station and head into Diagon Alley during the holidays.

They perused the counter for quite some time and Leolaine chose a number of items, with her father offering up many surprisingly helpful suggestions the entire time. When she had filled her basket with the essentials to get her through to the holidays, Leolaine turned to her father and tearfully smiled, "This has been really great, daddy--thank you. I know mommy's not so keen on all this magic stuff, but hopefully she'll warm up to it. I'm sure it's just a lot for her right now. How did you know so much about everything? Even the colors you picked out were all ones I liked! I was afraid I wouldn't know anything and now I've got it everything. I don't even think mommy could've done better. Really, I mean that. Thank you, daddy. I know makeup's not exactly your cup of tea. Today is really shaping up to be pretty amazing!"

Basket full and in hand, Leolaine and her father made their way to counter to pay for their goods. Even her newly-purchased kitty-kneazle mix perched about her shoulders could sense this was a bittersweet moment for her and so she nuzzled her neck with a soft growling purr as they walked down the aisle.

Alex decided to get some new makeup to celebrate for getting into the MLE department. She scanned the shelves, looking for something that would fit her well."Hmmm. What should I get?" She said softly.

Cleopatra breathed in the smell of the make up. She sat down and looked at them. What would go best with her? She was wearing a golden Egyptian style dress, and black slippers. Her shoulders were bare, as she always kept them, and her hair unbraided. She finally picked one and headed to the counter.

Becky walked confidently over to the makeup counter. She knew exactly what to get. Red lipstick. She picked it up, walking towards the counter.
