Hateya poked her head in the store, wondering if they even let kids in here. When there wasn't an immediate shout to get out, she shuffle-hopped inside and wandered around. Almost immediately, her eyes were drawn to the makeup counter. More specifically, they were drawn to the bottles, jars, and other things that said sample on them.

She was quick to dump her bag of assorted school stuff on the floor beside the stool and pull herself up, kneeling on it as she took in all the samples before her. This would be just like playing with her mum's stuff, only without the guilt or grounding. How fun.

Luna had picked out a set of make up so went to the counter to pay

Virgo went to her favorite part of the store, the makeup counter. Her list was endless so she took whatever she could find. A pink, silver and gold eyeshadow; Rose 1 and Natural 2 blush; Rose 2 lipstick 1 black eyeliner and mascara tube.

Now she's all packed and ready for the counter.

Zebragirl 04-24-2011 06:38 PM

Walking over to the counter Emily looked over the blushers, lip glosses, eye shadows and mascaras. There were looooooads!
"Wow Nika. Have you ever seen so much make-up in one place before?!" Not that she cared for it. She was just looking for a present for her sister... and mabye some lip gloss for herself.

Sierra had never been too much of a makeup girl, but then again, she'd just turned twelve-years-old. She hadn't even had much time to think about wearing makeup yet, let alone actually experiment with it. It was times like this, though, when she realized that living with just her father may hinder her in a few ways.

Who would teach her to wear makeup? Who would show her how to style her hair?

Sure, she's visit her mother and older sister from time to time, but even then the visits would be few and far between. Maybe some of the girls in the common room would help her out. Hmm... She hated admitting failure, though, so it wasn't likely she'd even ask them. She sighed as she approached the counter and looked at the various tubes and bottles.

Hateya was just finishing up wiping off the latest layer of bright orange lipstick (coated only entirely too thick) when she saw someone else come to the counter and stay for longer than a few seconds. Since the other girl wasn't immediately grabbing at things, Hateya guessed that she was either looking for something specific or had absolutely no idea what she wanted.

"Hi."

Good way to start a conversation, right? Hateya slid her legs out from under her, sitting on the stool properly instead of kneeling on it, "Browsing?"

Nika stopped to stare at all of the makeup around her. Wow. This place is really legit. She stood in awe and looked up and down at the rows of makeup. She was snapped out of her little trance when she heard her name. "Oh yea. So much makeup. How are you ever going to find something?" Nika could sit in the shop all day just playing dress up, but with makeup.

Sierra had just extended her hand to make a grab for a tube of lipstick when she heard the sound of a nearby voice. She eyed the source of sound out of the corner of her eye. Was this girl talking to her?! What was the deal with random strangers feeling the need to approach her today? Hmm?

When she turned completely toward the girl, the first thing she saw was her bright orange lips. Sierra's eyes sort of widened as she made a mental not to never ask this one for beauty advice. Merlin!

"Browsing? No, I'm eating," Sierra sarcastically thought to herself. This one didn't get the Ravenclaw gene, that was for sure. Nevertheless, she tried to put on her best 'polite face' for this stranger. "Browsing, yes," she replied. "...and I take it you're...experimenting?"

Hateya blinked at the whole 'eyes widening' thing, and looked back at the mirror. Oh, she'd sort of missed a spot, hadn't she? Oh well.

"I am." Hateya reached for a eyeliner pencil, but thought better of it, her hands switching instead to a container of blush, "I can't really do this at home, and no one's yelled at me yet, so why not? They're called samples for a reason."

Besides, she didn't really care if people stared at her when she was finished. That was what washrooms and towels were for.

"Oh! Oh Nika, this is soooo your colour!" she cried picking up some red eye shadow. 'Tester' perfect!
"Come here..." Emily laughed pushing Nika onto a stool and opening the tester. It would match her hair!

Nika wanted to go search around in the lipstick section, but before she had a chance she was pushed onto a stool. "Woah." Easier there Emily. "Alright just don't get it all over my face Emily." Hehe. That would not be good.

As the girl, whoever she was, turned to take a look in the mirror, Sierra rolled her eyes in pure disbelief. This girl couldn't be much younger than her, and yet Sierra had never remembered experimenting with makeup the way she was. "Right," she answered, making herself a mental note not to ever try any of the cosmetic samples. Not after this girl--and Merlin only knew who else--had practically smeared most of it across her face.

Shrugging, Sierra turned to browse through some of the unused makeup. "So why can't you do this at home?" she asked, feeling the need for small talk for some reason. Possibly it was because she knew next to nothing about makeup and was just looking for a distraction while she browsed.

"Because," Hateya heaved a rather dramatic sigh, all things considered, "Mum says I'm too young for makeup, and whenever I convince my brother to get me some my stupid sister always takes it and smears it on her dolls."

She watched the girl looking through the other makeup and suggested, "You should try the eye pencil. I was afraid I'd poke myself in the eye, but I'm sure if I saw someone else do it I'd learn how."

"Trust me! I'm a pro..." If by pro you ment the first time she'd done this anyway. "So close your eyes!"
She opened it up then slowly started to dab in onto Nika's eyelids. Not to much so it was really red, but just light enough to give it a mysterious and smokey quality. "There..." she added putting the eye shadow down and grabbing some blusher. Another tester! Yey!
She brushed it on her cheeks and smiled at her work. "Done! You can look in the mirror now!" and she better like it :shifty:

Nika did as she was told. Although she was tempted to open while Emily was applying stuff her her eyelids she kept them closed. "Alright." She grabbed a mirror from a near by table and looked at herself. "It's hard to even recognize me." Makeup could change a person's appearance entirely huh? "Your turn!"

"Oh," Sierra remarked, nodding only because it had suddenly occurred to her, once again, that she didn't live with a mother. Having only a father at home, she wondered what his reaction would be if she asked to experiment with makeup. She remained quiet for a few moments, finally deciding that he's likely tell her she was too young, as well.

Her eyes traveled to the eye pencil for a split second, and then upon deciding it was silly to experiment with makeup in this way, she rolled her eyes again. "No, thanks," she remarked. If watching this girl was any indication as to how she'd look if she even attempted experimenting right now, she didn't even want to touch that eye pencil. "How...old are you? ...are you a Hogwarts student?" she finally asked.

"But do you like it?" she asked sweetly, batting her eye-lashes. Please say yes. "I think you look great! Does Hogwarts have a prom or dance or something?" she laughed. She knew they didn't but it would be awesome if they did!
"Me?" she hadn't expected that. Damn it karma! "Um, alright." she said taking a stool and brushing the hair out of her eyes. "Make me look like a princess!" she added laughing and spinning on the stool. As long as she didn't poke her in the eye...

Jen wasn't for sure what she was doing at the makeup counter in Primpernelle's, she hardly ever wore makeup and when she did it was quite basic. Picking up a thing of eye shadow she inspected it closely, maybe she should get a couple different things and try them, just to have something to do. Tapping her foot as she continued to go through the makeup counter taking her time looking at each product, Jen was about to give up completely on her impromptu trip that had absolutely no reasoning behind it.

After Maggie had written home complaining she had ran out of her favorite eyeshadow and sent along the money it took to buy it, Mia dragged herself to Diagon, a place she had only been twice before. It took her a while to find the beauty shop. Upon walking up to the makeup counter, Mia saw the young women looking at a variety of makeup. "I'd stay away from the lime green." She commented. "It'd look too harsh on your light skin tone." She said with a warming smile. "I'm Mia Reeves." She introduced herself, "But you can call me Mrs. R." She added on.

Jen turned to the woman and gave a smile. "Bright greens aren't my color anyway." She chuckled. The woman definitely looked older, she was beginning to gray in her hair and she could see laugh lines on her face. Jen couldn't help but wonder what she would like when she was the same age as this woman. "It's nice to meet you Mrs. R." She smiled. "I'm Jen Hill...I usually just go by Jen." She laughed. She had finally gotten used to introducing herself by her new name and here she was engaged. Jen Rivera sounded weird to her, but she liked the way it sounded when it was said. Thinking of Esteban she looked fondly at the engagement ring sitting on her left hand, she couldn't help but beam at it.

"Well that works out well doesn't it." Mia chuckled. "Well, it's my pleasure to meet you Jen." She said nodding her head as she began to pick through the products to find what she was looking for. Maggie always liked to use the stuff that was hard to find, and wouldn't use anything other. Something shiny caught Mia's attention and she turned to find the shininess coming from a ring on Jen's hand. "Oh how lovely that is." She commented with a warm smile. Considering the fact of how Jen was basically beaming down at her ring, she could tell it was an engagement ring. "Congratulations dear." She smiled, she remembered when Kent had proposed to her all those years ago. She missed wearing her wedding ring.

Jen nodded her head. she turned back to the eye shadow she had been looking at. It was a light brown shadow that she wondered if it would be too dark for her fair skin. Looking up at Mia Jen smiled, not sure what she was talking about until she followed Mia's gaze to her engagement ring. "Oh, thank you." She smiled. "It was a surprise." Jen said, her cheeks began to turn red slightly. "I mean, I knew he loved me, but not this much." She giggled. She had gone all mushy in the last two years, her hard exterior she had built up over the majority of her life was completely abandoned. "I'm still surprised when I see it glisten out of the corner of my eye." Jen added on, it felt weird wearing a ring on that finger. Any other finger she would be fine with, but it felt weird.

The curse-breaker swung his daughter's hand gently as they walked.

"Yes, she did a few times." Leon answered. His late wife never was one for much make up though. Just a touch here and there. Hopefully Aspen would take after her in that sense too. He didn't want to see her painted up like a miniature adult.

They reached Primpernelles and he held the door open for her.

Then it was a good place to start.

Once inside, Aspen dropped her father's hand as nonchalantly as she could manage and went straight for the makeup counter. Aspen would have maybe perused more if she were alone, but the thing about being 'almost 13' was that she didn't get to shop alone much. She found things went smoother for everyone if she just got what she wanted/needed and got out with minimal dawdling.

Aspen pretty much knew what she wanted, but it was the how much that was the issue - both for costs and longevity. Christmas was a reeeeeally long time away before she could ask for more.

"Do you think - ," Aspen looked around for the shopkeeper, then lowered her voice to a whisper, "Do you think this is the sort of thing that you can't duplicate with magic?" Hence the need to come back and buy more, instead of just continuously re-supplying yourself.

Aspen had mascara, and eye ...stuff, and glosses as well as blush and powder. She held out her takings for his inspection. The sensible side of Aspen only allowed her one of each. She'd just have to save her money for more.

"You could make it, I suppose. Like with potions and things." He answered. Honestly Leon hadn't thought much about it all. Making... make up.

... "Do you need all that?"

Some of those colours were a bit.... strong. He examined it all and noting one that was a little bit too grown up in his opinion, he tapped it. That one. Could go back.

"Did you want to try any of it first? Or... is your research enough." Awkward. Leon didn't usually DO awkward. He wandered away a bit to give her a moment.

Aspen almost always took her father seriously when he made suggestions. She'd put stock into this making makeup, but later. She wasn't exactly a potions master.

Yet, anyways.

Ohh... "But...," Aspen cut herself off before the protest could form. She was SO glad she'd only gotten one of most things. Feeling properly scolded, Aspen put back the lip gloss and didn't bother replacing it. She'd cut her losses and just be grateful.

That's what she'd do.

.... with just a bit of sullenness.

She DID kind of want to try the glosses and things. It was her birthday and she was out... but it WAS awkward. It was. Aspen still put on one of the new (and approved) lip glosses - something she obviously had done before. She finished with an audible pop of her lips then dumped all her birthday makeup on the counter. "I'm ready, Pops."
