Placed strategically along the south end of the street, there are about five park benches on either side of the street offering a place for the weary to rest their tired feet for a moment. There is one situated between Eeylops and Flourish and Blotts, one between Weasley's Wizard Wheezes and Ollivanders - and then on the opposite side of the street, between Primpernelle's and Wiseacres, and Sugarplums and the Menagerie. The fifth bench is where the cobblestone ends, clearly placed there to let you know you've reached the end of the street and to turn back now.
Though I would be wary of the bench near Sugarplums, as well as the one near WWW, as both seem to have fairly strong odors associated with them. The one near WWW simply because WWW gained a store location right near the rubbish bin, which holds various items, some still of value, but many decomposing. And that Sugarplums bench? It used to be home to at least one homeless person who's hair was so matted, it could have been used by your front door, and who likely hadn't had a proper shower or change in clothes in several years. The lovely shopkeeper assistant from Sugarplums saw to it that the homeless of the area were sorted out though.... the stench still lingers. She is currently working on that.

He slowly lowered himself onto the chair, trying not to look up and around too much. There were a LOT of people here. So, he pulled his tattered copy of Tales of Beedle the Bard from his bag and opened it to the page he was on.
In no time, his anxieties were washed away, because he was soon transported between the pages of his book.
This was some good material right here as he now realized walking down the street of Diagon Alley. His parents needed to make a quick stop off at the bank and had suggested he go make a story while they were busy but even he didn't think he could get this much from a bunch of people he'd passed going about there business.
"Bud, you may have just out done yourself." He said, admiring the green quill he was currently twirling between his fingers. Granted, he didn't remember what woman sobbed dramatically as she watched the child she held dearly vanishing into the stone structure of confinement but that was probably for the better. Blaise didn't remember that lady anyway and didn't need facts setting his story straight.
The boy slowed as he approached a bench to the side of the street and a boy sitting on it. Without hesitation he released his quill so it could get back to work. "What'chu got there?" He leaned forward a bit, trying to catch the title on the front cover.

"What'chu got there?"
Teddy jumped. The book fell from his hands, onto the ground. His heart felt like it was about to jump out of his chest. He gulped, looking up alarmed at whoever had made that noise.
It was another boy, looked about the same age as he was. Teddy reached down to collect his book, brushing it off, just in case any dirt got on it. He looked back up at the boy and held the book out so that he could see the title. "My... favourite book," he said. "Tales of Beedle the Bard." Zhenya's voice popped into his head, telling him that he needed to TALK to people to make friends. He tried to say that he had enough friends, and that Ava would be at school with him anyway, but his older sister had INSISTED. So, he gulped again, trying to swallow his nervousness. "Have you read it?" he asked quietly, fixing his eyes on the quill.

Jumpy kind a guy wasn't he?
Blaise watched him collect his book, hoping his quill had gotten that bit because he could already imagine what it would write. Might have helped him too but the boy was already reaching for the book so he just helped himself to the spot on the bench next to him and accepted the book when it was handed to him.
"Oh yeah, I've got one like this at home; gave it to my little sister a couple months back cause she still likes the stories in it and I like making my own stories anyway." Hence the note pad and quill floating before them, scribbling away furiously. Blaise flipped open the book, re-acquainting himself with it's contents. "Which one of these d'you like the best? I'm partial to The Warlock's Hairy Heart but mum never really liked me reading that one." Thankfully his father saw things differently.
Oh hey, he remembered this one too.

Teddy saw that the boy sat down on the bench too. He didn't seem like a mean person, so Teddy happily sat down next to him. Teddy raised his eyebrows in delight when the boy said he likes MAKING his own stories. "You do? Me too!" he said. He noticed that the quill he was just looking at was scribbling away at a notepad. "Are you writing something now?" he asked, intrigued. A Quick Quotes Quill, Teddy thought.
Teddy nodded at the boy saying The Warlock's Hairy Heart was his favourite. It was one of Teddy's favourites, too. Although, being one of his favourite books, all of the stories were loved by him. "My favourite is The Fountain of Fair Fortune." He could see why the boy's mother didn't like him reading the Warlock's Hairy Heart.

Blaise's expression perked up notceable at the boy's confession to liking story writing as well. For a moment, the book in his hand was completely forgotten. "Yeah? What kind of stories do you write?" His eyes flickered to the notepad and quill still so busy at work. "Mhm, been writing since I left my parents back at the bank. I like how it's turned out so far." It turned a boring walk into a dramatic adventure and he honestly couldn't ask for anything else.
The boy passed the book back to his company, figuring it was for the best before he dropped it. "My sister likes that one a lot but I don't get how if so many people tried the fountain NO ONE realized it wasn't proper magical. I mean..." He paused to search the surrounding area. There were at least two fountains that he knew of in Diagon Alley and they would make the perfect example. Blaise spotted one in the distance and pointed.
"You can tell that fountain over there's got magic, can't you?" If it DIDN'T it'd kinda be obvious...wouldn't it?

"I like to write fantasy and science fiction! Creating new universes and detailing them with governments and economy and creating new animals or races of humans! How about you?" he asked, much of his shyness dripping away. Teddy was glad to hear the boy's story had turned out well so far. He hadn't wanted to ask what it was about, as he didn't like to pry, but he was curious. "I've never used one of those quills before. Are they any good?" He liked to use his special quill his uncle had given him for his birthday one year. It was all the way from Egypt!
Teddy gladly took possession of his book again and slipped it carefully back into his bag. Teddy agreed on the boy's thoughts regarding the fountain in the story. That was what he loved so much about the story, and everything that had happened to the three witches and the knight. It wasn't magical. All they ever needed was to believe. "The mind is a powerful thing," Teddy said quietly, "I just love how the mundane fountain gave a placebo effect. Everyone believed it was magical, therefore it was." He always loved that. Teddy looked at the fountain and frowned. "I've... I've never thought about the fountains here," he admitted. "Though I suppose so. I guess all of the magical enhancements leading up to the fountain left little doubt that it was magical. Goes to say that you could probably conceal a magical fountain as a mundane fountain and charm a mundane fountain as a magical one."

"Whoa..." Just whoa....
Blaise didn't add as much detail to his stories, not governments, not economies. Come to think of it, the boy wasn't even too sure how the ones they had here in Britain worked so making up a new one wouldn't have gone so well for him. It was something to look into for a later point but right now the stories he wrote didn't need either of those or different races of humans so he could put it off for a bit. "I like writing every day stories and finding new ways to make them...not so every day." It was why he liked his quill so much. Even the most mundane actions could be made thrilling.
Blaise was all for giving compliments to it too so when the boy asked about it, he was ready to give it high recommendations. "Definitely! It's not so great if you wanna keep things strictly accurate but make believe doesn't always have to be accurate." When the boy wrote, he liked to think it was a serious matter but even he wouldn't deny that embellishments often made the story.
And this kid was on a roll today, wasn't he? All these deep brain diving statements that made Blaise think the kid would fit well in that Ravenclaw house his mum wanted him sorted in. If THAT was how he had to sound most all the time then he would definitely have to pass on that one. "I guess you've got a point and I mean if I walked so far I wouldn't wanna even think for a second that there's a chance the fountain just DOESN'T work." Because he'd probably lose it right there on the spot.
"So how come you're sitting by yourself reading a book in the middle of Diagon Alley?"

"So how come you're sitting by yourself reading a book in the middle of Diagon Alley?"
Teddy was unintentionally picking at a scab on his elbow as the boy was saying whoa... but... well, his stories weren't very accurate. "I read about the general principals of a running government. You just need a head of government, the head needs an assistant, and then there's other people underneath, and there can be lots of levels underneath that. They all do different things to help the universe function, but I don't usually go into much detail. I like putting my detail into my characters."
But Teddy also really liked everyday stories with twists in them. "That sounds fun," he chimed in. "So you wouldn't want to use it at school to take notes?" Teddy guessed. Okay... if he could ever get one of those quills, he wouldn't use it for school work. And he was totally right - "That's the best bit about writing stories! All rules are off." He was feeling much more comfortable with conversing with the boy now. He was pretty nice, and he was friendly.
Teddy laughed. He laughed! "How silly would you feel bathing in a mundane fountain and being the same person you were at the start of the journey? And disappointed. Very disappointed."
"Well..." Teddy began, not wanting to make his sister seem irresponsible. "I was here with my sisters. Ava's off somewhere, and Zhenya, my older sister, went off with a friend for a bit, but she said she wouldn't be too long, so I told her I'd wait for her here, on the park bench." He looked up and down the street but there was no sign of her. He wasn't worried anymore. 1. He knew she would be back. 2. He had company now. "How about you?" he asked the boy.

Torie wandered down the street by himself wanting to get alone with his thoughts. His sisters kept telling him how he should stay with them and teach them everything he'd learned in his first year at Hogwarts. But Jay wanted him to go back with him, even if he wasn't saying it outright Torie still knew. He also knew mum and dad wanted him to go back. But too much had happened, he just had no idea. He still felt it was kind of stupid that he was afraid to go back but his mind was refusing to let him consider it. He'd sat and talked with mum and even dad last night about it and still he couldn't bring himself to go back. He didn't know if he wanted to be homeschooled either, as mum had put her foot down about him going to any other school but Hogwarts. It was Hogwarts or homeschooling.
Sighing he sat down on a bench his head going into his hands. Lux wasn't coming back but she'd been captured by the spiders. He'd only been chased out of the dungeons by them.

What a beautiful day! Cassie hadn't been feeling all that chipper lately with all the changes that had been going on and a recent owl about a few positions, but she wasn't going to let that keep her down on such a beautiful day. No she was going to take her cats and dog on a walk and enjoy the sun.
With Aries and Gemini on a connecting leash and Libra on another Cassie headed towards town. Enjoying the sighs as she went. "Libra no potty here it can wait until we get home." Which she knew the pup wouldn't listen and soon she got her pink scented baggie out to dispose of the potty break.
When her pets looked thirsty she pulled out a little portable water dish and set it down near a bench. "There you go you three." Smiling she noticed a child already there. "Well hello there, enjoying your summer Torie?"

When her pets looked thirsty she pulled out a little portable water dish and set it down near a bench. "There you go you three." Smiling she noticed a child already there. "Well hello there, enjoying your summer Torie?"
He sat there with his head in his hands as he listened to the sounds in the alley of people passing. He looked up as he heard someone speak and saw the pup and two cats and raised an eyebrow. Cats on a leash? He'd not seen that before, most cats he knew wouldn't let anyone put them on a leash they'd sit and not move! He grinned though when the pup did its business despite the words.
Looking up when he heard his name mentioned he looked slightly surprised but gave her a smile "Hello Professor Morgan." Err....how to respond to that? "I...I guess I am. Just, lost in thought really. How about yourself?" It was weird seeing professors outside of school but he wouldn't say that! "Nice cats and pup." he said nodding to them.
Genny waited until the notebook was in her lap to read, which was funny because his handwriting was so good it could be read from all directions unlike hers. Heh. So, he didn't know about doing magic, either.
'But you're definitely magical because you got the letter.' She wrote as another attempt to console him, though he didn't seem like one to be consoled. He looked tough. But then again maybe he was just pretending.
Moving on to his dozen other questions. Genny chewed on her lower lip, thinking that it would be best if Daxton met her father, not Davie. Her father knew everything about Hogwarts, he knew everything in general but specifically Hogwarts.
'I've never been there but my parents taught there. My father was headmaster for a while, too.
It's very exciting, and they teach hard subjects there like Ancient Runes and Arithmancy, but also they teach you Flying and Charms! I'm very excited to learn about spells and Quidditch.' She paused in her scribbling before going on, 'The ghosts are really nice there, too. Except for Myrtle, my dad says she's a real bother.' And Genny imitated her father's pulled-up face as he said so. 'I'm home-schooled, but I'll go to Hogwarts the year after the next one! So, yay!
Notebook back to him.
Daxton wasn't entirely sure as to why Genny was writing things that he already knew. In fact, he was slightly confused, and he didn't like being confused, which was why he had a tendency to avoid talking to confusing people.
Which basically meant... everyone.
The rest of her response was actually very useful, though, in that she'd actually gone into some proper detail. Daxton tapped his pen against the notebook as he read it once, twice, three times altogether, which was significant as he didn't need to read things more than once, and only did so if he found something intriguing or enjoyable. He didn't think the hard school subjects would be much of a problem, because he'd always found academia to be easy, and, by extension, boring. But obviously Daxton wanted to learn the magic spells; he wanted to know everything.
But ghosts? That was unexpected information, and the boy's mind was suddenly overloaded with possibilities. Maybe he could catch one and ask it questions. Imagine the kind of things they knew; a ghost would be a valuable asset.
It was a few moments before Daxton realised he'd started to disappear off into his own thoughts to process all this information, and he quickly forced himself to stop. There were more things he wanted to know. Suddenly out of his almost-reverie, Daxton put pen to pater wrote his responses, then turned the notebook back to Genny, watching her almost eagerly. She was full of more information than even she realised, it seemed.
'I'm definitely magical.
What's Quidditch?
I have always thought that ghosts are not real. Ghosts always seemed illogical to me. Have you ever met a ghost?
We will eventually be at Hogwarts at the same time.'
That last part was more a statement than a question that required an answer. Daxton didn't often reiterate something that had already been established, but Genny Tate had done so a couple of times now, and so Daxton had began to unintentionally mirror this in his own stilted way.

Shopping hadn't begun yet, so he wasn't exhausted, but with the sun still up and shining, he'd be a fool not to make the most of it. There would be time to restock his supplies of ink and parchment, and as far as books were concerned, he could always pay to have them delivered.

Finally she could escape from her mother.
Ava didn't know that shopping could be exhausted like this. Especially that her mother wanted to get all of the supplies for today so she said that she didn't need to come again later if they forgot to get something. Sometimes her mother would know that there would be next day.
And now she just needed to take a break for a while.
Sitting at the bench, the brunette girl noticed that there's an older boy next to her. "Waiting for someone?" She curiously asked.

He'd had his eyes closed for a few moments, allowing himself to soak up the sun without the distraction of others. But despite this, he was conscious of the fact that someone was sharing his bench with him, the slight shift in the weight distribution brought back to the present.
Eyes open, Zeke smiled to himself. "Nope." Should he be? He didn't think so. Waiting for people was so drab, he could always be found without staying put. "Are you, waiting for someone?" he returned, turning his head to observe the girl beside him. Was she lost?

The brunette girl hoped that she wouldn't bother this guy. She was just bored and exhausted from the shopping and spending time with her mother, lecturing that she should behave nicely and etc and etc and etc... But it seemed like this guy wouldn't mind at her. That's good, right? Good.
"I'm escaping from my mother." Ava bluntly answered. "No, she's not an evil witch or something. But she forced us to get all the school supplies today, just in one day so she won't need to come back here anytime." In case that this guy thought that her mom was mean or something. She wasn't mean at all, just sometimes she could be very strict and scary. "And you know that so many things that a new student need for school." She took a bottle from her bag and drank it.

Not lost then. Zeke chuckled as the girl informed of her mother and her shopping trip. "You're an aspiring first year then?" he asked, just to clarify. She DID say new student, and she didn't seem like a transfer... but he'd been wrong before. And though the girls experience didn't mirror his own, he could empathise with her.
"My little sister's in the same boat, but she doesn't mind the shopping." Avery was perhaps a little too eager for school. As for him, well, he was taking his time with his supplies, clearly. He wouldn't be in London for long, so the later he left things, the more likely he might be able to extend his trip.
Hands slipping from the back on his head, Zeke found himself sitting up a little straighter. "Do you have much left to get?"

"I am!" Ava answered that guy excitedly. "And so is my brother, we got our letters on our birthday morning." She had been waiting for that letter for a loooong time, even when she turned ten. She just couldn't wait patiently for Hogwarts. "My sister used to go there too, but she just graduated this year."
Was that too much information? Hopefully not.
"We just got our robes and books, and now my mom is in the bookshop with my brother. It's just too crowded there so I escaped and wait here. Next, we will get our wands!" They still needed to get their stationary and potions supplies. She really wanted to tell her mother that they could get them LATER. It's not that they would depart to Hogwarts tomorrow of next week. They still had days to go. "What year are you in?" Because clearly, this guy wasn't a first or second year judging from his look.

A first year. An excitable first year. Well, good for her. Zeke listened, nodding his understanding as she spoke of getting her letter with her brother, on a birthday morning no less. Twins? Interesting. "Hogwarts?" he asked, though most people from here went to Hogwarts, so... it was kind of a given. "What was her name? I might have known her." Granted, he wasn't close with many from that graduating class, but he knew of them well enough.
Robes and books. They got the boring stuff first. Poor girl.
"Getting your wand is the best bit, potions ingredients is pretty fun if you like slimy or crunchy things... and yeah, the rest is what it is." He didn't think too highly of supplies shopping.
With conversation turning to himself, Zeke shrugged casually, "I'll be a fourth year." He wasn't fazed by this. It meant he was a year closer to OWLs and with NEWTs and graduation to follow soon after, but it wasn't a concern for him at this stage.
Daxton Prince was a thoughtful person, Genny knew this much. This time he took longer than before, almost too long she started getting fidgety because excuse her but she wasn't fond of sitting and writing and basically reading. That was her mom's ultimate desire but Genny just wasn't a fan of sitting still and being bored. Daxton was a very interesting boy if it wasn't for this long gap of thinking. She had to re-read what she wrote to see what was so interesting about what she wrote, everything was pretty obvious and ordinary. Nothing that required this much thinking, Merlin.
He finally came to his senses just when she was about to snap her fingers in front of his eyes to bring him back to life. Good. Whew. She wiggled her butt on the bench and waited for him to give her back her notebook.
The Quidditch part jumped right at her eliciting a horrified reaction from her. Her sympathies went out to him in the form of a doe-eyed look.
He did not know what Quidditch was.
HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT QUIDDITCH WAS.
She snatched the notebook from him urgently, lifted up her ankles to the bench so she could scribble away on her knees.
'Quidditch is sports. It's the funnest ever & everyone loves it.' She could not for the life of her be objective when it came to Quidditch. 'The teams try to catch the snitch, and there is the keeper who's supposed to keep away the Quaffle from getting into the hoops. And the beaters try to defend the players with the bludgers. Also, you can't fall to the ground, you have to be an amazing flier in order to play. I went to a Quidditch camp last summer and they said I was a very good player.' Allllll valuable information, yes. 'I can ask daddy to take us to a match some time to show you. It's not season time right now but I bet the Holyhead Harpies has a friendly match with one of the teams soon. It's the best team with the best Beater duo.'
Genny finally took a breath, and beamed over at Daxton. Then went on to the less important subject that was ghosts.
'No. They're not very common, ghosts. Hogwarts has many of them, though. You'll meet them at the feast.' Oh and also. 'You can't say they're illogical, they'll get mad at you.' She nodded solemnly.
Mhmmm. 'I'm going there next year, yes. You have to tell me which house you'll get into.' Yussss! Hopefully Gryffindor! Like she wanted to be!

"Yes, her name is Zhenya Burton. Slytherin. Do you know her?" Maybe he wouldn't know her though since her sister weren't that type of popular kid. She's a bit like Teddy, prefer to lock herself for studying or reading or any kind of boring things that Ava wouldn't enjoy. She didn't know what makes reading or studying was interested for some people, including her sister and twin brother.
This guy said that getting wand was the best part of getting school supplies and she agreed on him. That's why she couldn't wait for it, they should've got the wand first because that's what makes somebody being a witch, right? I cannot wait for getting my wand." And hopefully after this they would head to the Ollivanders. "My dad is a healer and he often asks me to get his potions ingredients." Sometimes she could find cool things like flooberworm mucus or bezoar.
Fourth year? That's so obvious. "What house do you belong to? But I think you're not a Ravenclaw. You don't have a serious-looking face like Ravenclaw people." Teddy had that kind of face which she was sure that he's gonna be a Ravenclaw. If he wasn't, that means the sorting just made a huge mistake.

....
Zhenya Burton. THIS was Zhenya's sister. Little sister. He didn't even know she had a little sister, or did he? Come to think of it, she may have mentioned it once in passing? It was hard to tell. At any rate, the grin on his face was probably enough to inform the little Burton that he knew her sister. "I knew Zhenya, she was hothelpful, we partnered in potions once, and she was... cool." Yeah, cool. Zhenya was cool, always nice and easy to hang out with.
Little Burton, was coming to Hogwarts. Brilliant.
"It really is the best bit, sometimes it can take a while though, but it's part of the process." Lots of wands, only one true pairing... it was kind of like finding a needle in a haystack, only the needs were glorious and powerful. And whoa, cool, a healer. "Well that won't put you off then, and you might even have an edge over most of the others your age." Experience counted for something, or at least, that was his experience.
The follow-up House question was to be expected, first years were always curious about the sorting process, by now, he didn't much think about it. "Not Ravenclaw, no... though some of my friends think I should be." He'd been told that on more than one occasion, especially from Amur. "I'm a Gryffindor, actually," he added with a wink. "We have cake, cookies, and more fun." All completely true.

Surprisingly, he knew her sister. Woah, maybe she's not that what Ava had thought. "Was she really popular back in school?" She asked in disbelief. Or maybe she's that popular because she's smart and never messed up her study, that really sounded like her. Even this guy said that he knew Zhenya because they were partners in potions class. The brunette knew that potions was one of her sister's best subject because she was tutored by their late grandparents when she was younger. She's such a lucky girl had a chance to be with their maternal grandparents.
"Yeah, I heard that the wand choose their master." She heard this from her dad. She and Teddy were being tutored by their parents about their wizardry world, so she knew some of those wizards facts, beside that her twin brother read a lot and sometimes he shared his knowledge with her. "Really? Brewing potions are quite fun, though. But sometimes it takes a looooong time." That was based on her experience helping her beloved dad. Maybe she would enjoy potions too or maybe not, dunno. But she's always good in a practical lessons when she was in primary school so... Well, let's see. She didn't really think too much about the lessons.
See? Her guess was right. He's not a Ravenclaw. He's not a broody-type person."Gryffindor? Woah, that's cool." She grinned. Dima said that there's a chance she might be ended up in Gryffindor and now she hope so, especially when this guy mentioned that they had more fun, cookies and cakes. "Oh, I'm Ava by the way." She took out her hand from her pocket and offer that guy gums. "Do you want a gum?" This was her signature prank; electric shock gum!

He was tired...he was tired of it all!!! Well, no, he's not really. Just being dramatic for everyone to see. Flopping down on a seat, Ethan unceremoniously sat back and laid on the bench, not caring one bit if he looked like a homeless person. So what? He’s tired...he’s tired of shopping for school supplies, and thinking about his upcoming FINAL year in Hogwarts.
The lectures, homework, NEWTs, and Merlin knows what kind of surprise await them back in Hogwarts. Last term was acromantulas...will they be dealing with nundus next? Grunting, Ethan shifted, and lay on his side and closed his eyes. It was okay to take a nap, yes? He guessed it was alright, seeing that his dad was a good taxpayer and all. Technically, he owns that bench. Yep. Totally owning it for the next 15 minutes...

Well at least there was something they could agree on. Blaise wouldn't spend most of his time on such intricate detailing. He was sure he'd have to one day when he landed a job in one of the newspaper or magazine companies but right now it wasn't necessary so he liked focusing on the people. "I like putting real life people in my stories but sometimes they don't appreciate it as much as I do." Which was kinda sad. Who DIDN'T want to be made into a story??
Blaise eyed his quill curiously for a moment, trying to imagine what his notes would like like if he made any attempts at taking them with his quill. The boy snatched it from it's floating upright position by the notepad and turned it over a few times in his hands. "I never really thought about it. I think I might occasionally, just to see what would happen but then I'd need to borrow my cousin's notes to copy out the correct ones after." Otherwise his grades would be....interesting and his mother would find him wherever he was in the castle to give him a piece of her mind. Yikes.
The fountain thing the boy mentioned was exactly his point. "See, that's the problem. If it's obvious when things are magic and when they aren't then HOW didn't they all notice they were just taking a bath in a regular old fountain?" No matter how he thought about it, that story just didn't make all that much sense to him. He used to like it as a child but now he couldn't get pass the logic.
As he listened to the reason behind the solitary reading, it all began making sense. It was kinda like with his parents telling him to stay put while they got a few things taken care of. "Older sisters?" He had a sister but she was younger and the boy very much liked it that way. Just imagine if Julie was older and calling the shots. He didn't know what he'd do! "Oh, I'm just waiting for my parents to be done at the bank. They were taking care of stuff before we did more school shopping and thought I'd be happier walking around 'til they were done." Boy were they right about THAT.
"I'm Blaise by the way."
