| | |  Magical Measuring Area
 Just as you enter the shop, in between all the chaos that may or may not have been going on, is a rather open area with a measuring tape that seems to be hovering in mid air. It wiggles and flies around, ready to measure the next customer to walk into it's range. The measuring tape will eagerly measure your height, the reach of your arm, and maybe even other strange measurements to help the wandmakers find the best wand for you.
To one side you'll see the entrance way, where your parents may or may not be waiting for you, and just in front of you there is the fitting area and the counter. If you aren't in need of a wand, you best just head up to the counter. If you are, then step up here to be measured and one of the Ollivanders employees will be with you shortly to fit you with a wand.
Instructions
⌦ In order to receive a wand, please take the WAND QUIZ ONCE for the character who is here for a wand. Then, post your character being measured by the "magical measuring tape" ONCE in this thread. This thread is not one where you should interact with others, one post here please! It serves as our queue!
See the example post below, or look at other posts in this thread from previous terms.
⌦ Please take the SORTING QUIZ first and wait to be placed in your house before taking the wand quiz! Your house effects your final wand in our quiz! This goes for current members who are re-sorting too, though you may take the quiz in advance if you know what your new house will be.
⌦ You may role play the Magical measuring tape, but you may not role play for the shopkeepers. Ollivander does not work here!
⌦ After submitting the wand quiz and posting in this thread, please wait for your post to be edited with a link to the 'Counter and Wand Fittings' thread where a shop worker will assist you and your character in finding their perfect wand match. You must RP to get your wand.

All of his attention was on her from the moment she was off his shoulders to when the tap starting moving about her, sizing up the little witch that was his sister. He was probably more excited about her wand than she herself was, or so he was assuming.

Habit made her clasp her Calyx's hand with her own but it was unfamiliarity and trepidation what twisted her face. Blinking, Bayrose Morgan-Bott looked at her twin, then at her mum, then at her twin, again. It wasn't like she didn't know what was about to happen; she'd extensively questioned her father about this until she'd grown bored and requested a regular bed time story instead. And eventually she'd fall asleep with the sound of daddy's voice and it was nice and like magic.
This was definitely magic, but not nice. It felt important, yes, but also intrusive. Because hearing about things was different than experiencing them. And there was a lot of experiencing to be had when a magical measuring type was prodding her every other way, making her flinch back when it got too close to her nose. "Enough!" Trying to emulate her mother's--je ne se quois. Presence. Magnetism? It was not exactly successful, the measuring tape undeterred as it went about her calves. She nursed the diminutive slight against her ego in silence, but there was a crease between her brows and she looked at mummy expectantly, once more.
And then promptly hissed at the tape when it snuck in between her palm and Calyx's and curled around her fingers. Then slid up and down her palm, circling her wrists and despite herself, almost giggled.

The moment the tape slipped between his and his sisters hands he quickly grabbed for hers again and clung very tightly. He wasn't too apprehensive about the tape itself but he was looking nervously towards the fitting area as kids went up one at a time, which would just not do at ALL.
He let out a nervous 'hehe' and sneezed when the end of the measuring tape tickled his nose. It helped that their mum was right there, watching them, close enough that if it all got to be too much she could step in and make everything okay again. But if the wand people thought he was going to let go of his twin sister's hand, they were in for a surpriiiiise.

The eleven year old rushed into the wand store leaving his parents behind. He was eager to get a wand because everyone knew that you needed one in order to do magic, duh. The young boy looked around in astonishment, this place was awesome. They even had a floating measuring tape, which was weird. "Uhhh, Okay." he said as the thing started doing its thing measuring his arms and his head, and all sorts of weird places.

"We'll be in the Leaky Cauldron, sweetie," said Lydia's mum as they all stood outside the wand shop. Lydia couldn't help but notice her parents kept looking around nervously. They obviously weren't quite comfortable being in the wizarding world yet. For the matter neither was Lydia, but she was determined to swallow her fears and doubts.
"I'll be fine, Mum," said Lydia. "I'll see you soon once I've got everything."
"Sure you don't want us to go with?" said Lydia's father.
"Nope, I've got this. Promise!"
Turning away from her parents, Lydia slid inside the shop before they changed their mind about letting her shop on her own. The interior of Ollivander's was dark and mysterious. There was also no one at all around, at least not that Lydia saw. Suddenly feeling quite nervous and unsure of herself, she stepped to the counter, looking around. What should she do next?
As if reading her mind, suddenly a tape measure shot up from behind the counter straight toward her! Instinctively, she shielded her face, but the tape measure was friendly. It merely began to take her measurements. Still not used to objects floating around with minds of their own, Lydia watched mesmerized as the tape extended itself down first one arm and then the other.
"Incredible," she murmured to herself.

Bettie finally made her way to Ollivanders and paused for a minute to try and clam her nerves. Her nerves need not lesson much after all this is her first wand and to top that she is the first of a few generation of squibs to get powers. She gave a big sigh and walked into Ollivanders still quite nerves and made her way over to the measuring area. When her turn came up she stepped forward to be measured. It zipped about measuring her height, arm and this and that and smacked her a few time to get her to stand still because she kept moving a little to see what it was doing.

Wade couldn't believe he was back in this shop again, not for himself, not for his siblings but for... his kid. His Taddy Boy. It honestly felt like yesterday he was in here to get his new wand for Hogwarts. Now Tad was eleven, nearing twelve, just the right age to get his first wand. Despite what happened at Hogwarts last term, he knew keeping the boy sheltered wouldn't help him grow as the wizard he wanted and needed to be... No.. he couldn't let the waterfall feelings show on his face, though he might've gripped his son's shoulder a bit firmer than usual as they entered into the shop.
"Alright, Tad. You just go in there and let the tape do it's work before you get some help. I'll be out here when you're done." Wade smiled bigger than his first taste of Pickle cereal and patted the boy's shoulder sending him off.
"Ow! Dad, not so hard." Tad didn't see the big deal about this. Well, never mind he did. He was getting a wand! This was so exciting. He was glad to be out of that primary school so he could actually perform real spells. Yep, he was ready. He knew the wand he would get would be just right for him... Well, it better be.
"Okay, dad!" He beamed before almost running into the room where he awaited for something to happen. Oh, neat! Flying tape measure. He raised his arms in a T pose shape letting it measure whatever needed to be measured. Now what?

It felt a bit odd to enter the shop alone, right behind a father and son, but Alastair’s oh-so-responsible guardian had stepped in dung of some kind and was outside attempting to scrape it off his shoes. That was fine. This would go faster—and better—if he did it alone. Or so he’d told himself, until he heard the words of encouragement and saw the other boy’s excitement. He shoved his hands into his pockets and waited for the tape measure to be free, at which point he stepped up for his measurements. Some of them made sense, but others…
… well…
… why was it measuring the width of each of his teeth? Alastair started to protest, but stopped when the tape gave a menacing snap of its tail. Only when it whisked off to help someone else did he reach up and rub at his gums, grumbling to himself. | |

Bernie was ready for this. He wanted a wand more than anything in the whole world. When he got his letter in the hand delivered by an official it was all he could think of. His parents were in complete shock … well he was shocked to, but his parents were a little catatonic. But now he was ready.
"Hello?" Bernie called out as he entered the shop. He was ready … waiting …. it took a second to realize that the measuring tape was moving on it own. He stared in awe … everything magic was amazing!

Elizabeth walked into the shop, she'd heard about Ollivanders and the stories hadn't don't it justice. The place was packed high to the rafters with various size and shape boxes, today it was also packed with people. She followed the flow of people from the door and came face to face with a flying measuring tape. She had to blink as her face made an almost collision course with it as she'd been looking overhead trying to take it all in. She watched it as tapped her on her right arm, her wand arm, to get her to raise it, she did.
It measured every inch of her arm, once and twice over, when it got to her armpit she couldn't help but let out a giggle, she was ticklish there. | |

MAYBEEEEE getting his wand would be cool? Wands meant he could do spells properly, yeah? Like, aim his fire rather than accidentally setting the curtains alight when he was angry? Yeah? Yeah.
So Józef stood VERY still, as still as he possibly could, which in fact was not very still at ALL, as the magical tape measure went about its business. He wanted to laugh as it tickled him whilst measuring his arms and his chest and his waist, but he held in the giggling fit because giggling was so not cool. Neither was looking like he was impressed at the little measuring tape, but he was yet to gain complete control of his face, and so, aside from his eyes which remained covered with sunglasses even though he was inside, his face depicted his glee.

Drew had been here to Ollivander's before, back in his first year. But, if he were to be completely honest, he could not remember anything that transpired during that encounter. The magical measuring tape had been flying and twirling around him too quickly that it made him wiggle awkwardly in his place, forcing himself not to swat it away because he knew these measurements were necessary.
But that was two years ago. Right now, he simply stood in place while having his measurements taken. Drew bit his tongue back as it danced around him, taking whatever needed to be, and clenched his fists. It had a weird tickling sensation and he fought every urge to panic. No. Don't. Swat. The. Tape. Again. See, this is what you get for clumsily breaking your wand. He wouldn't have to go through this all over again if only he was careful back then. However, he mentally convinced himself that survival was more important in such a life-threatening situation. Wands could wait.
He couldn't wait for the measurements to be over though. Drew cleared his throat and twiddled his thumbs to distract himself.

Abigail slowly stepped into the wand measuring area after seeing several other children being measured. She looked around carefully and watched as the measuring tape did its job. She couldn't help but wonder who was holding the measuring tape, it obviously couldn't be doing this on it own. She nervously looked back at her parents before leaning up on her tiptoes back behind the counter for the shopkeep. When she didn't see anyone she began focusing on just the measuring tape and her breathing. | |

Even if she hadn’t actually gotten to go through the whole process quite as she imagined most everyone else in the shop who wasn’t a newly minted Hogwarts student had. At the very least, her wand hadn’t come from Ollivanders, but she knew how important getting one’s first wand was, and when Carsyn had requested both hers and Alex’s presence when she and Carys received theirs, she hadn’t been able to deny her. Nor Carys, who she imagined wanted them there just as much as her sister did even if she knew that twin would have acted like she understood if she’d said she had a commission to work on or something. The differences between her daughters were fascinating, really. Yet even so, she’d tried to stand back to let them experience it all ostensibly on their own, no matter how much she wanted to know they’d be safe. She wasn’t going to be going to school with them after all…
Both mama and daddy were there. Carys knew that, just as she was resolved to actually prove that she wasn’t a pushover. Maybe Hogwarts would prove that, or at least maybe between her new kitten who she was at least going to pretend was really ferocious and her new wand whenever she got it, she’d have proof she wasn’t just Carsyn’s shadow. She knew quiet wasn’t a bad thing, and she’d find a way to prove it…even if she’d taken an extra moment before she let her sister’s hand go as they’d approached the measuring area. At least watching the tape twisting and turning around the kids ahead of them had been fascinating to watch.
The actual experience was kind of different. Not scary, just sort of weird as she tried her best to stay completely still as the tape had measured the oddest things about her. She didn’t see how the space between her eyes was really important, or the spread between her fingers. Wand measuring seemed an awful lot like being measured for clothes, actually. Just weirder.

Sometimes he questioned whether sending the girls to Hogwarts was the right decision, but ultimately he knew there were always going to dangers at the Scottish school and he had to trust that they'd be there to look out for each other. He squeezed Rhiannon's hand as he watched the two girls waiting their turn. How did they get so doubly blessed again?
Carsyn was over-the-moon excited about her very first wand. And the fact that mama and daddy agreed to come with her and her sister to their first diagon alley trip. She knew Carys would have been fine if they said no, but honestly, she wanted them there for this experience because how often would they get to see their daughters shopping for their first wand?
She was bouncing on her heels as she watched the measuring tape twisting around the other kids. What did measuring someone's size though have to their wand? Did Mark get his wand yet?

Melody felt embarrassed about being a grown woman receiving her first wand. She was a bit of a late bloomer and her mother had homeschooled her. She never thought in million years she would receive her first wand at the age of 31. She waited for the shop owner to come to the counter.

After he had gotten himself something to eat, Caleb headed to Olivanders. It was Janurary so he was hoping the shop wasn't too busy. He entered the shop. His wand was not responding to him anymore and he did not know why....
