| | |  Magical Measuring Area
 Just as you enter the shop, in between all the chaos that may or may not have been going on, is a rather open area with a measuring tape that seems to be hovering in mid air. It wiggles and flies around, ready to measure the next customer to walk into it's range. The measuring tape will eagerly measure your height, the reach of your arm, and maybe even other strange measurements to help the wandmakers find the best wand for you.
To one side you'll see the entrance way, where your parents may or may not be waiting for you, and just in front of you there is the fitting area and the counter. If you aren't in need of a wand, you best just head up to the counter. If you are, then step up here to be measured and one of the Ollivanders employees will be with you shortly to fit you with a wand.
Instructions
⌦ In order to receive a wand, please take the WAND QUIZ ONCE for the character who is here for a wand. Then, post your character being measured by the "magical measuring tape" ONCE in this thread. This thread is not one where you should interact with others, one post here please! It serves as our queue!
See the example post below, or look at other posts in this thread from previous terms.
⌦ Please take the SORTING QUIZ first and wait to be placed in your house before taking the wand quiz! Your house effects your final wand in our quiz! This goes for current members who are re-sorting too, though you may take the quiz in advance if you know what your new house will be.
⌦ You may role play the Magical measuring tape, but you may not role play for the shopkeepers. Ollivander does not work here!
⌦ After submitting the wand quiz and posting in this thread, please wait for your post to be edited with a link to the 'Counter and Wand Fittings' thread where a shop worker will assist you and your character in finding their perfect wand match. You must RP to get your wand.
⌦ If we run out of time to complete the RP with you by the end of the RP summer, we will PM or VM your wand result to you, provided you have posted in this thread and responded to our efforts to interact with you.

It was the moment that Kye had been waiting for her whole life. She was finally getting her own wand. She walked in front of her parents with such focus on her destination that she was leaving them behind. She opened the door to the infamous Ollivander's and looked around. It wasn't a majestic looking shop, but its history was worth more than its image. She raised an eyebrow at the furniture set out for the shops patrons. Did people often have to wait that long?
Surveying the shop, she noticed the goods available such as holsters, engraving, and so forth. I'll definitely be asking about that, she decided immediately. Although she had more of a water spirit, there was something about the look of an ivy engraved wand that really caught Kye's eye.
Something had caught her eye in the next area. It was a measuring tape that seemed to have its own personality. At least, it noticed her presence. Leaving her parents behind, Kye approached the measuring tape and almost immediately it started zooming around her person, measuring this and that, here and there. Kye secretly felt a little intruded upon, but her face stayed focused and still. She was always a bit paranoid that she was being watched, and she never wanted to be caught being so vulnerable and naive. Perhaps she was a bit odd, but she was very determined to have an interesting story when she was a legend of the wizarding world.
The measuring tape seemed to finally finish with her. Kye eyed it for a moment to make sure, before heading back to the counter to receive a wand. Her heart was beating harder than usual. Kerri: Florian has seen to you HERE!

Arista couldn't believe it! She was finally in Diagon Alley buying school supplies for HOGWARTS!! The moment she and her family - father, mother, and little sister Lyra - had arrived, Arista had taken off in a whirlwind of excitement, leaving her poor family to chase after her. She knew she had to buy boring things like robes, parchment, and textbooks, but first on her list was a wand. And Arista K. Vega would get only the best wand if she had anything to say about it. With her family in tow, Arista marched straight into Ollivander's and looked around in awe. The shop was packed with students waiting in line to be measured or at the counter eyeing up holsters and cases. Grinning broadly, Arista wound her way through the throng to the magical measuring tape, which was currently measuring between someone's nostrils. She waited for what felt like an eternity (but was probably more like a few minutes) before it was her turn to be measured. The tape wound its way around her head, up her leg, between her fingers, and all sorts of other bizarre places before coiling to the floor like some weird snake.
Confident that the measuring was finished, Arista raced for the counter and waited as patiently as she could for her wand. Kerri: Florian has seen to you HERE!

Granpap was with her. She was nervous, practically shaking, but also EXCITED. A real live wand! A REAL WAND. Astrea attempted to keep her excitement down but she couldn't help it! She was bouncing around all over the place, chirping her emotions LOUDLY for everyone to hear because Astrea just didn't care sometimes.
"You gotta' stand still for the measurement, Astrea, come on," Apollo smiled gently but pulled her closer to him. Astrea stood as straight as a beanstalk for a few seconds, watching the tape curiously. HOW DID IT DO THAT? SHE WANTED ONE.
Finally, it was done. Standing still was hard. DID SHE GET HER WAND YET? Kerri: Florian has seen to you HERE!

She couldn't believe it. Her first wand EVER was in reach of her own fingers! Rebecca had dragged her parents along with her inside the shop. She couldn't stop smiling, her brown eyes looking around in fascination. "Do i really get my own wand?" she asked, a hint of skepticism in her voice as she looked at her mother. The witch in her family. Her father was a muggle. Her mother nodded and Bec clapped her hands excitedly.
How DID she get her wand though? She looked at the other young students and saw they were all walking to a measuring tape. Following their lead, the soon to be first year stepped forward when it was her turn. Kerri: Florian has seen to you HERE!

After waiting for what seemed like FOREVER, Vivian was finally going to get her own wand soon! She was so excited that it was crazy. She didn't have to keep grabbing her dad's wand anymore and pretend to wave it around like she was casting a spell. Yep, this girl was going to get her very own magical stick! She was soooo going to show it off to her little sister when she got home later. Beat that, Francine!
For Vivi, having a wand apparently meant maturity and awesomeness. She used to pout at how her parents would deny her access to their wands but they didn't know things anyway. And while she was here, Vivi's parents went to fetch her other school supplies so that they didn't have to keep wasting time. Merlin, who knew supplies shopping would actually be so exhausting and stressful in a way?
When it was her turn, Vivian giggled as the measuring tape went around doing its job, which was... well, measuring. That was so fun! She wondered where she could get her own measuring tape thingy as well. Could be useful for pranking her sister and her Uncle Chris.
Cue more giggling. It was funny how the measuring tape looked like a little snake and stuff gliding through the air. GIGGLE GIGGLE. Julia: Libby has responded to you here!

Isabella fidgeted when it was finally her turn. She knew she was supposed to stand still for the magical measuring tape to measure her, but she really didn't know why she needed to be measured. Wasn't magic something that size didn't matter for? It took all her mental energy to hold her arm still as the measuring tape whipped back and forth. She didn't want to get measured wrong. Oh no. What if they got her measurements wrong and her wand got assigned wrong and she was horrible at magic?
Sure, she knew she was lucky that she was getting a wand and getting to go to Hogwarts. Isabella glanced over at her mother sitting in the waiting area. Her mother and father would be so disappointed if she was horrible at magic. Honestly, her brother would be disappointed, too. She was fairly certain he planned to learn magic vicariously through her. It was a lot of pressure for an eleven-year-old. Isabella flinched as the measuring tape wiggled directly in front of her face to measure her head. Uh-oh. What if her head was too small to get a wand?! Julia: Libby has responded to you here!

This was it. The moment Kirk had been waiting for since his eleventh birthday. He was practically bursting in joy at the thought of having his own wand at last. On the outside though, he looked vaguely interested in everything that was going on. A trait inherited from his father Geffrey who was always as calm as a cucumber. Until he was free from his side however. Once he got a simple pat from his dad to go on, Kirk's eyes could brighten at last as he left the entrance into the room.
What was he going to get to do with the wand? Sure he had to try it out, but which spell? Or would he not be allowed to do a spell of his choice? Kirk could only pout at the lack of information his parents prepared him on. The most he got out was a simple smile and "You'll see." In that finality tone. Well, now was the moment as he saw a flying measuring tape come towards him.
First instinct was to flinch, but no. He wasn't going to do that. Instead he just froze with his eyes widened before the flying tape flew away from his face and around his torso, trying to slip under his arms. "Oh.." He raised them up so the tape could do it's thing. It kind of tickled as he fought the urge to giggle and twitch. The tape then stretched out to cover his height, circumference and everything before flying off again. Now what was next? Julia: Libby has responded to you here!

His time in Diagon Alley winding down, Andrei had not expected that his uncle to present him with additional galleons to purchase some of his school supplies here rather than wait until he was back home in Romania. While he appreciated the gesture, and would never turn it down for fear of seeming ungrateful or rude, he could not help but feel resentful towards this sign of affection.
Which was an absurd notion that he soon checked at the closing of the shop's door.
Flute in hand, he played softly to himself - a softer and simpler arrangement of Mozart's Concerto for Flute No. 1 - while waiting for his turn at the measuring tape. His fingers wiggled in the air as the tape ran up and down the length of his arms, the air caressing the tips of his fingers gently in a welcoming manner that put his 11-year-old nerves at ease. "Zank you," he whispered to the tape, bowing his head as it completed its task. Julia: Libby has responded to you here!

She'd been waiting her turn for what felt like ages and one could only smile at family members SO much before feeling like the corners of their mouth were going to STICK that way, so Junia drummed her fingers on her legs, feeling impatient and excited and eager all at once as she looked around at kids who seemed to be her age, too. She hadn't even seen it coming but suddenly there was the magical measuring tape, flitting here and there so energetically that the brunette found herself growing dizzy watching. First her arms, then her legs, then the length of the bridge of her nose which caused her to go all cross eyed-NOT a good look for her. More measuring after that, too, though it was a blur of large black numbers coming in and out of view. Had that thing just measured her EAR? Hm.
And then it was done and just as quick as it had come over, the measuring tape was gone.
Did this mean she was getting a WAND now?

Demean had his mind filled with a continuous replay of his family murder for the better part of the last year, but the hope of finally having a wand to protect himself and avenge the loss of his dear ones made him relax. In no time he was being mesured, and all he could think of was flee from his oportunist cousin's house and get into Hogwarts and pratice to be the best!
So young, yet so eager to learn and thrive in the wizarding world. Demean was the last chance to prevent Pushkin's bloodline to fall into oblivion.

Fiyero fidgeted as he stood in line with his grandparents. He'd wanted his own wand since he was four, when he accidentally set fire to a dining room chair with his mom's wand. Boy, he got in so much trouble for that!
The line moved faster than he thought it would, and soon it was his turn to be measure. His eyes followed the magical measuring tape as it moved up, down, and all around. He wondered what spell they used to make it work. He'd have to remember to ask about that when he got to Hogwarts.
The tape flew away suddenly, and Fiyero sidled back over to his grandparents to wait for his new wand. Kerri: Florian has seen to you HERE!

Valerija's excitement could be seen in her twinkling eyes as she slipped into the world renown wand shop, closely followed by her mother. Ollivander's! London was already proving itself to be a wonderful magical place, there was so much to see and to do, but this is what she had come for. A wand, from the same place as her mother's. It was her primary motivation for insisting they holiday here for the summer, a nice change from sailing up the coast of Croatia at home.
Taking in everything with her soulful brown eyes, her arm naturally extended, and her fingers fanned out to touch the wall before she turned to her mother and took one of her hands in both of hers - giving it a firm squeeze. She was excited for her fitting. And so after inspecting the hovering measuring tapes with her brown-eyed gaze, Valerija smiled brightly and stepped forward for them to do their little handy work. "Cute," she giggled in her accented voice as the measuring tapes worked their way around her body.
Once the measurements were taken - even the ones she thought weren't all that necessary, the eleven year old stepped back and to the side, reclaiming her position at her mothers side. This time though, Valerija's fingers stroked at the fabric of her mothers sleeve. The light cotton seemed the perfect texture for such a place of character.

Harriet was so excited. She was finally going to get her own wand. It was going to be great. She had waited so long to get her own wand. She'd watched her big brother and her big sister get there wands, and now it was her own turn. She had literal been waiting for this moment since she'd learnt about magic, and hogwarts. She was very excited.
"I can't wait to get my wand Mom!" She beamed as she dragged her parents into the wand shop. It felt so good to finally be getting her own wand. She joined the queue, and then practically beamed her face off when it was her turn to get measured up.
She stood very still as the measuring tape measured her up and down. She hoped she was good because she wanted to get a good, and the perfect wand for her. Still smiling, she waited for the shop assistant to come over to her now that she'd been measured. Julia: Libby has responded to you here!

A slight smile threatened to reveal itself on Selina's face, closer to that of a smirk than that of a joyful smile, but it was joyful all the same. Her first wand, her very own, one hundred percent her wand, was waiting for her somewhere within this magical, almost eerie (if it wasn't for all the people) shop.
She looked around, not wanting to wait. Her mind screaming at her to just take a wand from the shelf, just to touch it.
'No,' she thought, 'Lets do this properly, I need the perfect wand.'
Selina squared her shoulders, brushed down her white dress and held her head up, her long silver hair spooling down her back, and made her way over to the measuring area.
Despite the crowd, it wasn't long until the magical measuring tape was free to take her measurements. It zipped around her in the hurried erratic sort of way a mouse might run back to the safety of its nest, and in no time at all it was up to measuring the space between her nostrils. She batted it away insistently, sure that it had enough measurements by now. Kerri: Florian has seen to you HERE!

Shy Marfy slowly entered the shop. Inhaling deeply, she enjoyed the smell of wood and resin. The place was crowded and noisy, but that didnt squelch her excitement. She understood the importance of this moment, and couldnt wait to take her place in the world of magic. Mr Olivanders assistants beckoned to her, it was her turn next.
Suddenly she balked.
Her nerves kicked in, turning her stomach over and over.
Marfys mother took her small daughters face into her hands, and kissed her on the forehead. Smiling, she guided Marfy over to the line on the far left.
........Marfys adventure had begun.

| Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
This just felt weird. Keane stood at the Measuring area looking around the shop. He stood still as the measuring tape snaked it's way around him and began measuring his arm lengths. He wondered what would have happened had his wand been wrecked during a practice duel with Step-Dad during the Summer earlier. Having to tower over a bunch of younger kids would have made him feel just, he couldn't even begin to imagine it. He wondered if the Measuring Tape felt the same.
Was it pausing every so often to figure out why the measurements were so long?
He felt like a fool for what happened with his wand. Well it wasn't truly his. It was his Grandfather's and not the one trying to make him leave his career path. it was his deceased Grandfather's He kept the splintered remains of that one in his coat pocket. He was going to see if they could do anything with it. He doubted it of course since it was just shattered splinters from the tip down. The handle of the wand remained intact though. It just seemed like it was an impossible wand to mend at this point.
The measuring Tape looked like it finally stopped this time. Not just a log pause, as it flew back and away from him. So Keane stepped away from the area and just sort of stood in the open shop looking around it. Kerri: Florian has seen to you HERE!

Andrei closely flanked by his brother Daniel, He didnt need him there, and to be brutally honest he didn't really want him there either. His eyes moved around Ollivanders and the occasion started to sink into him, his first wand and with it his first real steps into his future.
He made a gesture to his brother to stay outside, Andrei stepped forward confidently, there was no queue and the measuring tape slowly went to work, he felt a little awkward just stood there for what seemed like an age, eventually the measuring tape moved away from him.
"And now we wait" he thought to himself Kerri: Florian has seen to you HERE!

Today Isa was finally going to get her very own wand! She had been waiting for her entire life for this moment. Well, most of it at least. Ever since Penny had gotten her wand before going to Hogwarts, Isa had wanted to have a wand and go to Hogwarts like Penny did. At long last, she was actually old enough to get her wand. She was so excited! Here she was, with Mum and Penny, getting her wand! She couldn't wait to hold her wand in her hand for the first time. It was time for her youngest daughter to get her wand. Soon, Isabel would be off to Hogwarts and Penelope would be headed to university in Edinburgh. There would be no children left at home, and Elizabeth would greatly miss them. It seemed like only yesterday Isabel was just a tiny 4 year old and Penelope was leaving for Hogwarts the first time. She would miss both girls, and this year would be extra emotional because both of the girls were going away to start at new schools. Penelope was all grown up, 18 today, and Elizabeth had something special planned for Penelope later. Although the day itself was a milestone for her older daughter, this particular moment was about her younger daughter getting her first wand. Penelope had insisted that for her birthday she wanted to go with Isabel to see her get her wand because Penelope had missed so many other important parts of Isa's life while she was away at Hogwarts. Elizabeth reached down to hug Isa and looked her in the eye. "Go and get measured over there so they can find the right wand for you. We'll be waiting right here for you." Penelope was so proud of Isa, already old enough for her first wand. Isa had grown up so fast, and Penelope had missed so much of Isa's life being away at Hogwarts. It seemed like only yesterday Isa had been a small child clinging to Penelope's leg on the platform at King's Cross and begging her not to go away to school. Now it would be Isa's turn to be the one going off to Hogwarts. After a quick hug for Isa, Penelope watched her little sister head to the measuring area to be fitted for her wand. Nodding in response to Mum and Penny, Isa headed over to the measuring tape. Patiently she held her arms out and stood still so the measuring tape could get her measurements. Did the length of he arms and her height affect which wand would be right for her? Penny had said that the wand chooses you and bonds to you. Sometimes wands that were bonded to a person didn't like other people trying to use it. Isa had always been told not to touch Penny's wand because it only liked Penny. She wasn't really sure how a wand could choose someone or know who's using it. Wands were weird. The measuring tape snapped itself shut. Isa looked over to Mum and Penny who nodded in encouragement and pointed her in the direction of the counter. Isa walked away from the measuring area and headed over to the wand fitting area. Athena went into Ollivanders,nervous. Her parents told her to calm down as she waited for her turn to be measured. Her mother told her: "I remember having my first wand here sweetie, I got a spruce dragon core."
Athena's dad told her It's gonna be fine, Athena... besides aren't you excited to have your own wand?"
Athena nodded. Athena was looking forward to this day, just completely nervous.
Her little brother, Ares, asked their father: Dad, when can I have a wand? I WANT A WAND NOW!"
Athena's dad replied "Next year, be patient my son. I know you are excited to have your very own wand. But mind you, use it only for thee good."
Suddenly, it was Athena's turn to be measured.The measuring tape reached her and began zipping about, straightening with a snap and measuring out her height and, when she held her arms out. She was amazed how the measuring tape was going all over her.
Athena stepped away from the measuring area and she eagerly headed to the front for the shopkeeper to find her wand Kerri: Florian has seen to you HERE!

Today was the day, it was finally happening. Her very own wand to do magic. Of course her father had told her all about the rules against underaged magic and of the responsibilities of keeping everything secret and she did take heed but that didn't stop the 11 year old from all but bouncing into the shop, tugging her father along.
"I can't believe it's happening! Do you think I'll have a wand like yours? Or like Lexa's?" It was all she could think about; what would it be like? Would it choose her immediately or would she have to try a few. Was there an act of persuasion involved? So many questions that set blue eyes gazing up at the man.
"How does the wand know who it wants? What makes it decides it likes you and how can it be sure? Jessa thought nothing much of her father's chuckles, knowing he found her curiosity endearing and having little fear that he might have been making fun of her or thinking her stupid. "No, but really Daddy, how does it work? What makes it work?" Questions that would need to wait to be answered as the man gestured her toward the measuring area.
Hardly able to contain herself, the little girl gripped either side of her dress and stood as still as she could. Seconds later a tape was zipping about--this way then that. Her gaze locked on it with avid interest. It was moving of it's own will...but how.....?
All too soon it was done and she was no closer to a response. Sanjay got your post here!

Bloom stopped infront of Olivanders wand shop for a moment , a big grin on her face , finally she was going to get her wand , the ultimate object that will separate her from her previous life , when she'll step out from this shop , nothing will be the same again.
with a trembeling heart , she stepped in , the first thing that got her attention was a girl that looked about the same age as her ,standing in an open area , turning around and moving her hands at the same time , as if to be measured , but oddly nobody was measuring her .
Bloom had just time to take a few steps closer, when this same girl stood in front of her and invited her to take her place and get measured by a measuring tape !
Bloom's eyes widened as she watched the measuring tape wiggling and fliying around , taking measures of her height and reach of her arm ...decidedly the wizarding word won't stop surprising her soon ! Sanjay got your post here!

Harvey walked into Ollivanders with a lot more confidence than he actually felt. He remembered all three of his sisters bringing their first wands home, and he had waited for this moment for as long as he could remember. He still worried, though. What if no wand picked him? What if his being different from the rest of his family meant he wasn't really a wizard at all and all this was a massive mistake? What if-
"Whoa!" his thoughts of fears were interrupted by the measuring tape. It flew around him, twisting and twirling as his arms and legs and the space between his shoulders was all measured with a speed that made him almost dizzy. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, the measuring seemed to be over.
He breathed out a breath he hadn't realised he was holding. Now, to get his wand. Sanjay got your post here!

Lizzie led the way into the wand shop, with her parents and uncle trailing behind. "I can't believe I am finally getting my wand!" She said happily spinning around to look at her family. Unfortunately she spun around a little too fast, she stumble and started to fall backwards.
Luckily her father, David, has quick reflexes, and managed to grab her hands and pull her up before she landed on the fall. "Careful, little one." He said smiling down at his only child. "You don't want to get hurt just before you get to Hogwarts, do you?"
Lizzie smiled and shook her head. Her mother, Linda, gave a small chuckle. "I think she may be a bit excited about all of this." She said, teasingly. "Maybe!"Lizzie teased back before turning to her Uncle Karl. Uncle Karl. What do I need to there to get my wand?"
Karl walked up to his little niece, the only other member of the family besides himself to have magical blood. "She that Measuring tape floating in the air right over there Miss Liz?" He pointed in the direction of said measuring tape. Lizzie nodded, her bright red curls bounced with the movement of her head. "Just walk over there, and let the measuring tape do it is magic," The other 3 members of the Simmons family chuckle at the word choice. "and then someone will help you find your perfect wand". "Okay, Uncle Karl" Lizzie said, and started to head over to the measuring tape. Glancing over her should er at her family, whom all gave her a smile, she stepped in front of the tape. She watched as it measured her by itself. After it was finished, she waited to see what was in store for her. Kerri: Florian has seen to you HERE!

Niomi walked into Ollivander's Wand Shop, ready for her new wand. She was so exited. Niomi wondered what her new wand would look like and what type it would be. Before her questions were answered, she must get measured. Niomi headed towards the measuring area and waited for her turn. Finally, the measuring tape twirled around her body taking all the measurements that were needed. With the last measurement, taken of her arm, Niomi walked away. She waited off to the side to get her new wand. Kerri: Florian has seen to you HERE!

Riane held her mother's hand tightly as they walked toward Ollivander's Wand Shop. Like most other first years, she had been waiting for this moment nearly her entire life. Images flashed through Riane's head as she thought of all the different kinds of wands that might choose her.
As they entered the store, her mother's hand relaxed and Riane let go, anxious to run ahead and be measured. She was so excited, she was just barely able to resist sneaking her way up closer to avoid waiting any longer.
She jittered with joy as the measuring tape analysed her, and her mother had to remind her to try to hold still. Before long, Riane was back by her mother's side, waiting for her turn for her wand to find her. Sanjay got your post here!
