For all your magical mirror needs, Janus Galloglass is the place to be. Sure, you could go to some other knick knack store that doesn't specialize in mirrors, but if you want quality, if you want customization, if you want pure craftsmanship, then you're in the right place. When you walk inside you'll have a hard time not seeing your own reflection somewhere on the walls and displays, and yet equally, not every mirror shows you yourself as you might expect. Some show reflections of completely different places and faces, some show you what you would look like as a different gender or age, some show you how others see you, and some appear not to reflect anything at all. Many of the mirrors call out compliments or advice as you walk close to them. Some seem to watch you as you make your way around the store.
Janus Galloglass deals in three main areas when it comes to mirror making: mirrors for communication, mirrors for vanity and appearance, and mirrors for divination, though there are other types of mirrors available for other needs - just ask. Fancy a foeglass? Need a talking mirror to tell you how fabulous you are? Want a hand mirror charmed to never fog up? Do you need a mirror that will zoom? Maybe you need mirror parts for your telescope, or a mirror charmed to show you the back of your head. Perhaps you're in the market for a prank mirror of some variety. Whatever you need, if it isn't already on the shelves, you can get a quote here, just be aware that some more complex custom requests might take a little time to craft.
You mustn't forget, of course, that Janus Galloglass also provides a Psychomanteum that its valued patrons can make use of, for a price of course. Your Catoptromancy session can be guided too if you need a little help with interpretation, or you may pay to use the Psychomanteum by yourself for a 15, 35, or 55 minute session. Please note there are multitudes of security spells in this store. It isn't wise to try and steal when so many of the mirrors are watching you, not to mention, if you break you DEFINITELY buy, or you might just get sucked into a holding mirror until an auror can be summoned to deal with you.
A note about inventory:
At Janus Galloglass the price of a given mirror depends on several factors that make an exact pricing menu unwieldy and difficult. Please use the following price brackets for a guide as far as what you can choose to RP as a quoted price, and remember the more complex the charms or magic of a mirror, the more expensive it is likely to be.
Available Mirror Sizes
ring mirrors - starting at 1 galleon, 1 sickle
compact mirror - starting at 1 galleon, 1 sickle
hand held mirror - starting at 1 galleon, 2 sickles
book-sized mirror - starting at 1 galleon, 10 sickles
half-length mirror - starting at 3 galleons, 7 sickles
full-length mirror - starting at 5 galleons, 4 sickles

He had also wracked his brains and done RESEARCH to help him possibly figure out what this... Genealogical Squad?? Thing??? That Goldwasser had prepped him for would consist of.
He knew it wouldn't be good. He had no clue what it be about exactly, but it had to do with people's genetics, obviously. And with his assumptions about Goldy all but confirmed, he wondered if it had anything to do with humans....vs....VAMPIRES? Like...what even? His brain wasn't connecting all the dots yet.
Regardless, he needed a trip to this glass store. The items on his list? Foe-glass, a security mirror, and an enchanted mirror. Yes, he was ready to lay down all the gold for it. And he hadn't exactly told Logan, either. He might even buy multiple foe-glasses and enchanted mirrors.
So, here he was. He walked into the very quiet and possibly deserted shop with his hands in his pockets on this brisk, brisk day. His bright red scarf kept his neck and ears warm for now. He was all business.
Certain things about the acceptance letter she’d received from the Ministry had given Skye pause. Even more so once her dad had seen the letter, not that she hadn’t told mum and dad she’d applied for the job. A job, but now it was official. She was officially a Ministry employee, or would be once she actually started working there. It was a personal matter that had brought her to Diagon Alley on a day off from uni classes. Namely, a request from her dad that was, she suspected, actually an ultimatum once he’d seen the letter. He wanted a way to keep in contact with her, that was maybe marginally safer than owls or Patronus messages, and therefore she had turned her feet toward the mirror shop. How dad hadn’t already had a set of two way mirrors in his collection, she had wondered as she headed over to that display.
Only to find her gaze snagged by the red scarf in her peripheral vision, and she had stopped halfway to the two way mirrors. The scarf owner looked vaguely familiar, but she didn’t want to assume.

He hadn't been in the shop long when he heard someone come in soon after him; he turned round, quickly, to see who else could possibly be visiting the shop at the same time he was; it was just so not busy! What were the odds?!
He squinted a little, not at all concerned how his actions could come off to the young woman, noting how familiar she looked when it clicked.
It was his cousin!
Skye!
He broke into a shy grin. "Skye, is that you? Are you really old now?" he asked in a surprised tone. Hadn't she been, like, nine? A second ago???? He hadn't seem his mum's side of the family in quite awhile, especially since he had gone to Australia for Uni. And he hadn't made any effort to see anyone once he returned after graduation...so it really had been a good six or so years. Wow. WOW.

Okay, definitely familiar. Or, at least, as the scarf owner had noticed her, it became apparent that he knew her name. A laugh spilled out of the blonde at the question. A laugh and a bit of an eyeroll. “Not really old. Old enough,” she had replied, bypassing the question about her identity.
Dad would probably have lectured her about trust and vigilance and all that, but between the name acknowledgment and the sense of vague familiarity, she was willing to risk it. Especially since she was ninety percent certain he was her cousin, although which one wasn’t entirely certain yet. What with not having really seen any of her cousins lately, between dad’s agency setup and uni classes. “Besides, I think I could toss the statement right back at you” Considering the twins were definitely older than her. Older than Fin even.

Pffffffft! Scottie puffed up a bit. "I will have you know I am only 25. I have a whole life ahead of me, you know," he did grin over at her, though. "Fancy running into you here....when I've been back in England for about two years now." Or was it three? Merlin. "What are you up to these days? How old ARE you?" Like, was she school aged still? He couldn't really tell since he was so bad at guestimating ages.
He stepped toward one of the security mirrors on display as he checked its information and price. Hmm. And he really wanted to buy two. Logan would have no say in the matter, especially since Logan didn't know all that Scottie was wrapped up in these days.

The reaction her comment had gotten hadn’t stopped Skye one bit. Even if it hadn’t been followed by the grin, she knew better than to be afraid of her cousin, whether or not she’d exactly figured out which one she was speaking to. She was just glad her own brother didn’t have a twin at this point. One Fin was good enough for her.
“Oh, I do know that, but my point still stands,” she replied nearly flippantly. He was still older than her, which obviously he was having much too much fun making that fact clear. “Yes, fancy that. Even if I really don’t come out to London that often. Or, I didn’t used to, anyway,” she continued. Considering she’d be working in London now, or would be once the new year started.
“Uni, back in Edinburgh. I’ll be starting at the Ministry after New Year’s.” The comment had been rather offhand, her attention back on the mirrors for the moment. Maybe she ought to buy one of the talking mirrors for her brother as a joke. “I’ll be twenty next August.” Not a baby at all.

It hadn't occurred to Scottie there would be confusion about his identity even though it tooooootally should have, being a twin and all. Whoops!
"WAIT! You're working at the ministry?!" He grinned sloooowly, but it really filled his entire face. "You'll never guess - I also work at the ministry! In the MLE." He beamed. LIKE HIS PAPA. He wondered if she knew her uncle had been the Department Head of the MLE. Now, would he tell Skye his position? The more time had gone on and discussions he'd had with Fletcher, the more confident he felt as a security guy. "I work in security. Gotta keep all the important people safe!" He smiled gently and slid a finger over the top of his wand holster. For the first time, pride enveloped within him. He was in the MLE, and he was part of....well, a thing.
A thing he couldn't even tell his twin about, so he most certainly wouldn't be sharing with Skye his thing. But one day...one day he's be able to speak about it if he survived. It only made his heartrate jump as he thought about.
AND she was only 20?! "Whoah..wait...what department? I didn't even know they let people your age in." He furrowed his brows.

It was just lucky for him that Skye had no problem holding a conversation with someone without referring to them by name. Not that she didn’t know who he was, exactly. It was just a matter of which one, and it wasn’t as if she’d been privy to the information as to which twin worked for the Ministry.
“I am,” she replied with a nod. “As of recently.” Did she actually start once she’d been given her position or was it not official until orientation? That was the question. “Interesting. Has anyone taken up my dad’s old position there yet?,” she asked, idly. Odds were they hadn’t just left the CMEC division without a head for decades, or however long exactly it had been since he’d retired. Because yes, she’d known his dad had been MLE because he’d worked with hers. She’d heard stories.
It had appeared as if he’d been distracted by his thoughts, or pride. Skye couldn’t tell which, but the little caress of his wand holster had made her wonder if it was the latter. “And how old were you when you started? I’m in Accidents and Catastrophes, in the Experimental Charms division.” The question had been rather facetious, honestly, nor was she going into too much detail. She imagined he could find out the rest on his own.

"What did your dad do there, again?" he couldn't remember because...well, honestly, he was very self absorbed. He could probably admit this comfortably. Not in a bad way, but he had been so focused on school and grades for so long that only recently once he was DONE with school and working full time he felt like he could BREATHE again. So yeah, he was having a hard time actually remembering much about his extended family.
And he felt guilty about it.
"Experimental charms....that's dead wicked, Skye," he grinned, trying not to let on his sudden thought process about reconnecting with family members and whatnot. He wondered if Logan knew a lot about all their aunts, uncles, and cousins? Hmm. "I started like...what was it, two years ago? Year and a half? So I was 24." A year. It had totally been only a year now. All good. "How cool, though. You're so lucky, Skye, really. The ministry is just...what a place. And the benefits! And, you know, it's just..." but he felt his heart sink. It wasn't the dame place his dad had known. It was changing, and for the worse. He couldn't go into detail with Skye, though.
And so he didn't even finish his statement.

The question was rewarded with a little laugh, although it hadn’t entirely come as a surprise to Skye. It had told her enough about the situation though, that either his father wasn’t the type of person to tell stories about his former exploits and extended family members, or he just was choosing to not remember. Either way, she didn’t begrudge him an answer, after the moment of laughter. “He was Chief Inspector for the office of Counterfeit Magic and Equipment Control.” Before he’d chosen to retire and then start his own private agency fairly recently. She suspected he hadn’t liked the quietness.
She had grinned again at his response to her own position. Not that she’d been entirely specific about it, but she wasn’t ashamed of the position she’d been offered either. “I’m hoping so. I’ve been studying it in uni as well,” she added, trailing off as he had spoken again. “You didn’t know for sure, did you?,” she continued once he’d finished, teasing him lightly. Although the way he had let his statements about the Ministry remain unfinished did pique her curiosity. That and it reminded her of everything her parents had said once she had told them she had applied.

Scottie furrowed his eyebrows. "Is that considered an MLE position or...?" Merlin, he really HAD NOT been observant this last year at the ministry, and he could KICK himself for it. He could have been picking up SOOOO much intel...and yet. Here he was. Nearly clueless.
About, like, everything.
"Didn't know WHAT for sure?" he needed her to clarify. "About..my job?" Because HA. "Well, we'll have to lunch sometimes together in the food court. It is a nice food court...kind of. OH! I got a new kitten - you should come over! Meet Nando...and Logan and I can reconnect with you!"
