| | Dank and Dirty Dungeon Cell Time has surely passed since both children found themselves captives of the Dark Witch in Knockturn Alley. It's not certain just how much time has passed and how much longer they will be held in this dark, dank and moldy underground cell but it has been a while. The witch that took them prisoner has not been seen since the day she brought them to this place, implying that they have been handed off and are no longer a concern of hers or the alley's. Now, there are strange new people; someone that drops off their piece of bread they are allowed once a day and another to deliver the morsel of meat they are allowed on Fridays.
Across and all around them is filled with the ghastly sounds of individuals in less than tip top shape. Groans of agony fill the underground level. These are accompanied by the shouts and rambles of the very healthy and rowdy. What sort of place is this? It's almost a certainty they are the only children there and no one seems to pay them any mind.
Every so often--perhaps every other day, a very loud man with thinning hair, a gaunt face and pale green eyes lets the children out from the cell so they may get the others clean. This is in line with the occupants of the other cells being taken above ground. Where they go off to is a mystery but when they leave they return in fewer numbers than before they left.
No sleep until the place is spotless and all resistance is met with harsh punishment in one form or another. As it stands, the situation is bleak and there is no knowing when or even if they will ever escape or if this will become their new future. The roof sometimes leaks and the rats run rampant, leaving for very uncomfortable living conditions in the cell stripped bare of most furniture except a bench near the back. Hogwarts RPG Name: Amur Neverwinter Fourth Year | Joining the troops :) ~ Rise and Rise Again, Until Lambs become Lions ~ Rather uncharacteristically, Rhydian had not uttered a single word the entire time the team had perused the upper floors. Not finding anyone or anything had his mood sinking further and further, and his apprehension rising and spiking. He felt as unsettled as Alexa looked. What gave, exactly?
First absolutely nothing, then a random lead from nowhere and now an abandoned building. If this didn't speak 'trap', Rhydian didn't know what else did.
Regardless, they were going in and Bellaire was leading the charge, or the slow procession. Moving up behind Alexa and following her down the stairs, Rhydian let out a huff of annoyance, not at her but at the general circumstance they were in. Part of him didn't want to go down the stairs, fearing what they might come upon.
If the Dark Wizards wanted to leave the MLE a message on their own turf, children was certainly the way to do it.

Noelle had given up hope. Mason had been taken some time ago and hasn't returned. Tears stained her dirty face. She had ventured to the corner of the cell and refused to get out. Her only comfort was Sabbie. He's the only one that hasn't left her.
The sounds of the other prisoners had died down greatly and they were kept in their cell a lot more due to that. Noelle had thought on occasion that her and Sabbie were the only ones left. But then someone who cough out in the dark distance and she would know they weren't the only ones left.
She had stopped wondering where everyone was going and instead, was somewhat hoping they would just take her. She was tired. She was hungry. She was filthy. She was not the girl she was a few months ago.
Noelle was curled up in the corner of her cell, in her usual spot. Her head was in Sabbie's boney lap. She had lost a lot of energy and just didn't want to move.
But then there was a noise. And a loud one.
Noelle sat up quickly and looked at the direction the noise had come in. It wasn't the noise of the old man. He was quiet and eery. Not at all this loud. She heard the few prisoners that were left go extremely quiet after a few shuffles. Noelle gripped Sabbies hand, not sure what to think. It surely had to be something bad. Right?

| Baguette | there is no D in my name | TRAITORclaw | Queenie of Narnia The mixed feelings Penelope had had throughout this case were still present even now. They'd gotten a lead - that was good. But this place appeared to be pretty much deserted if their searching of the upper floors was any indication - and that was bad. The thought that they weren't going to be able to throw the creep responsible for all this behind bars was not okay with her.
But for the time being, that should probably be the secondary focus. The main thing needed be to find the children and get them out of here.
Penelope hurried over to where the others were gathered in front of the door Lex had found. This appeared to be the last area they hadn't checked yet. But if the kids weren't down there....
She internally shook those negative thoughts from her head, starting down the stairs after Rhydian, glancing every now and then over her shoulder just in case the dark wizards somehow ambushed them from behind.

Sabbath had been dozing against the wall with Noelle's head on his lap when he'd heard a woman's voice call out, or at least he thought he heard a woman's voice call out. Was it his imagination playing tricks on him? His breath stopped as he listened again. He could hear muffled conversation, this time a man's voice. And whats more, Noelle heard it too. He felt her body stiffen in response as she squeezed his hand.
Sabbath straightened, hauling his shoulders off the stone wall on which he'd been leaning as Noelle raised her head. Maybe they were about to disappear the same way Mason had? Maybe it was a new captor? Maybe they'd been sold? Could they even dare think that maybe they'd been found by magical law enforcement? At this point, Sabbath thought the latter was highly unlikely. However, anything was welcome in comparison to the monotony of the cell, come what may, good or bad. Sabbath's apathy was real. He tried to call out but his voice was very raspy from disuse. He cleared his throat and tried again, mustering his poor reserves of energy. "Get us out of here" he yelled as loudly he could. It had been quite some time since either of them had bothered to waste energy calling out. To this day, it had always proven futile.

| *side eyes Alexa* Frangelina || twitter addict || Music of the Sun || The Fresh Princess of Bellaire Tyler continued his careful decent down the stairs until they got to the bottom. There was a door half open and a strange smell coming out of the room. He motioned the rest of his co-workers forward and edged closer to the room.
Did he hear the voice of a child? He was almost sure he did. Slowly he edged closer to the door and peeked in.
Cells upon cells...some empty and some containing smelly children. There were no signs of captors anywhere.
What in Merlin's Beard was going on? "The children are in here!" He called as he pushed the door open. "Someone double check the room, make sure we're clear. Let's get these kids home."

| Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite "Thought we were only communicating with our hands and eyes." Lex quipped at the man who'd finally realized what she had all along. Silence made no difference, they were alone. Well done Tyler.
But she heard it too, what sounded like a frail voice calling for help. Lex stepped by him down into the dungeon, willing to make sure they were truly alone and it was clear. It was as she'd thought earlier, if they got ambushed down here it'd be considerably more difficult to defend and win--not impossible mark you but difficult.
Her wand was at the ready and she dared to light the corridor before them. Fumbling in the dark would do them no good. Using their wand for light left them vulnerable if indeed they were attacked. With the lights on, she could now see why it smelled so terrible down here. Every few cells had people! Actual people and...and..."They're over here." Lex called, gesturing the others over to the cell she'd stumbled on. Merlin, didn't they look worst for wear. "We're gonna you out of here." With a soft click, the young woman got the cell door open before stepping away to continue down the corridor. Making sure the coast was clear, she trusted the others would free the remaining captives in other cells. So far so good.

Next, time stay back and handle the paper work." He said calmly as he walked over to a cell and opened it. He'd seriously need to talk to Emily about how reckless the girl was. Missions like this needed more brain and Cambridge just had a wand.
He frowned as he offered his hands to the boy and girl ( Sabbath and Noelle). "Are you two alright? Are you hurt?"

Hogwarts RPG Name: Amur Neverwinter Fourth Year | ~ Rise and Rise Again, Until Lambs become Lions ~ He was well aware of Greenwell, who'd taken up their flank. Whether it was her nerves or his nerves or just general nerves that permeated the place, however, he wasn't sure. Regardless, he took a glance over his shoulder every few steps just to make sure she hadn't been silently snatched from behind. The rear had the rear, but who had the rear's rear?
Once they hit even floor, things became readily apparent very quickly. The first was the smell, attesting to how long something had been kept trapped down here. There was no airflow, which meant that at least that entries and exits were limited. The less unfortunate side of that coin, Rhydian didn't particularly want to dwell on. The other thing that was quickly transparent, was that besides the prisoners that Lex's light revealed, they were alone. A good, but unnerving factor.
However, distraction was quickly provided from that unsettlement in the form of a deeper, more potent unsettlement. The children. Several emotions hit Rhydian all at once, from pity right to pure rage. They expressed themselves in a rather neutral expression and automatic reaction.
Shrugging out of his jacket, Rhydian cast a quick replication charm on it and then a quick resize on both. A glance was spared for Lex, regarding the way she moved away from the cell and Bellaire's rather uncalled for chastising. He didn't say anything. She could take care of herself. She preferred to take care of herself.
Stepping into the cell, Rhydian offered both jackets to the Auror, his voice as loud as he dared. "Bellaire. Here."

| Baguette | there is no D in my name | TRAITORclaw | Queenie of Narnia They were already close to the foot of the stairs without any incident or ambush, which Penelope supposed was good, but...
She cut off that thought when hoarse little voice yelled for help. Merlin, they WERE down here then! Lex's wand lit up the dungeon, revealing the two kids they'd been searching for in one cell, as well as a few others in some of the other cells. But a lot of cells were empty, which could either mean they were always empty, or they had contained prisoners as well that the creep had taken with him. And the option that was more likely...
Her grip on her wand tightened just a little at the reminder that that criminal and his goons had escaped them, but she quickly reminded herself to focus on the positive side for now. These kids would finally be free and back with their families.
She quickly moved forward and unlocked the other cells that contained captives. "C'mon, let's get you outta here too."

There were.... Actual ... People here.
Noelle stayed kind of tucked beside Sabbie. She wasn't hiding behind him, but she wasn't taking any steps toward the people that were telling them they would get them out of here. She was a bit weary to be honest. Sabbie seemed to think they could trust them, but Noelles trust seemed to be rocky these days. What if it was another trick? A trick just like Mason had endeared?
Noelle still hadn't spoken. Her eyes looked at each of the people down here. She wanted to see who they were and what they were doing. Noelle really wanted to believe they were good people, but who could you trust nowadays?
She saw several hands reach out, telling them they would get them out. She looked at the others in the back, going to get other prisoners out. She squinted when the lights turned on, and finally got to see some of the others that had been kept down here with them. Did they look as bad as the others did?

Sabbath had no idea if the latest intruders were good or bad but either way, he knew they were probably their last opportunity to institute some change in their situation. Whether good or bad, they had to play out their fortunes as both he and Noelle were getting so very thin now and the old man had not come to offer them their slice of bread for what he guessed was a number of days.
Sabbath struggled to his feet and held the wall as he did so as he was overcome with a bout of dizziness. There were hands reaching towards him but it was all he could do to just hold the wall so he wouldn't fall. He shielded his eyes from the lights with his other forearm and peered at them from beneath it. He looked at them "What are you, cops or something?" he said reverting to the use of the muggle term for law enforcement. He glanced backwards at Noelle who was standing behind him and even he was surprised to see how gaunt and drawn she was now the cell was lit.

Give him one mission and suddenly he tried acting like Head Auror. Legend Chosen you are NOT. Bellaire needed to remember he was not her boss, nor was he any different when he'd just done exactly what he'd berated her for earlier. His reminder? A filthy piece of her mind that she swore at him before continuing down the corridor and no, she didn't care that they had company.
Once at the end, Lex doubled back. "All clear. Looks like whoever was here did a good job of clearing out before we got here." What she'd suspected after they'd searched the upper floors. "Aurors." She corrected the kid, finding his likening of them to muggle 'crime fighters' derisive if nothing else. She didn't endure all that training to be called a 'cop' thank you very much.
She turned to look at the others Penelope had released from their cells before turning to her teammates again. "No point in hanging out around here with 'em any longer. If it's alright with Mr. Wanna-be Head Auror, we can head back." Let the Investigative team canvas the area and look for all the clues they needed, it was NOT their job.

Noelle wasn't sure what they were talking about. The girl going on about wanna be head Auror. She wasn't paying much attention to their words. She was studying each one of them, making sure she knew who they were just in case. She would memorize everything she could. Since she couldn't seem to remember ANYTHING about the first person who took them.
Noelles eyes flicked to Sabbie as he used the term cop. Of course he would, his family were nothing but muggles who had been in run ins with the cops time and time again. She stepped a little closer to him when he looked back at her. She was a bit shocked at how he looked. There wasn't really enough light to see details but now that they were on, he looked very different. Wow what a few months had done.
Noelle still didn't trust them, but she wanted to get out of this cell. It felt like a while since she ate and if she had to flee, then she would run until her heart gave. She stepped before Sabbie and closer to the bars, eyeing the space to get out.

Cops, Aurors, whatever they were, Sabbath wasn't sticking around to chat about it, he could see the cell door was wide open, and he wasn't thinking of much else. Meeting Noelles glance, he saw her eyes flick to the doorway too. He knew she'd had the exact same thought and felt her start to edge towards the exit. He wasn't about to wait a second longer to breathe fresh air. He grabbed Nells hand, ducked around the cop and made a beeline straight for the door.
