Think you’ve chosen the right broom, but you wouldn’t mind giving it a proper go before deciding? Then make your way to the new broom-testing room at the back of the shop.

This room has been specifically designed, with various spells and decorations, to look close to a miniature Quidditch pitch. There is fake grass covering the entire floor, along with plastic, smaller-than-usual goal hoops that are placed on only one side of the room rather than both. The ceiling has been enchanted to grow quite high, yet just as a precaution there is a limit sign as to how high you can fly. Specific painting can be seen all over the walls, the upper have been painted a light sky blue with white clouds whilst the mid and lower walls have painted as if to look like a moving audience.

Before you enter a sign is displayed at the door letting you know that there is a maximum of three people at a time and that you may enter at your own risk. This sign also insists that you do not spend an incredulous amount of time testing your broom if there are many others waiting. If you violate any of these conditions it is most likely there will be consequences, so please be a good sport. Other than that if you need advice, assistance or anything at all you are free to look for Brad around the shop.

Ooc: Please do not RP for the shopkeeper (Charely Potter). The Diagon Alley Rules apply at all times. If you have any questions, you can ask them in the Diagon Alley Questions thread.

Also please note that you do not have to wait every time there are three people using the room. You may use different timelines so that your character may use the room right away.

Moontrimmer it was then. She gave him a nod in return whilst praying to herself that he was not lying about knowing the basics. The consequences wouldn't be pretty in that case. Well it would be his problem now as she did ask beforehand and she trusted him somewhat with the truth. The thing was you never knew with media people.

The process needed to continue so she gestured to the sign. "First you read that, which basically just states that the room is used at your own risk and that a maximum of three are allowed."He got that then? She didn't feel the need to inform him about the time limit, who was there to stop him from practicing as long as he needed to today, anyways? It was still school season..not the busy-packed-everybody-everywhere time around here.

With that she grabbed a broom of her own (just in case) and then entered the room."Follow me when you are down, if you do wish to read the quick sign, that is." She waited a few moments.

"Here it is." Brand new room, with it's beautiful pitch-like design.

The Editor-in-Chief obediently followed the shopkeeper into the newly established room and snapped his fingers at his quill to keep up. He needed a thorough description of the place down for reference's sake. But he did read the sign over for the full effect. Use at your own risk? That sounded awfully dangerous for 11-year-olds, didn't it? "So in terms of supervision, it's just yourself and those looking to purchase a broom, correct?"

The quill was listening.

And he was done with that. On to the good stuff now. "Oh, very impressive," he nodded with approval. He would have clapped, but he didn't do that sort o thing. Especially not on assignment. "Extension Charms? Do those fans actually make noise? Say if a future buying is doing well performing on a certain broom?"

And could he mount his fake-purchase soon? Well, he had a routine he had to go through first before mounting it properly, but yes.

The sign seemed to interest him more than she thought it would. Probably a parent if he was all like this with safety. Either way she understood his concern and began to explain further. "This grass is unique when it comes to landing and quidditch is fairly tough out there if you can't cope here I can assure you a match out on a real pitch would injure you severely. Yet..." Just in case he misunderstood. "I'm not too far away and those knowing they need assistance, can always ask. As well as I plan to have interns to assist with the room this summer."All she could do was hope he'd understood that in the right light and not think the whole room idea was reckless. Same went for that quill. Worst case, she could always add more magic if there wasn't enough already.

Impressed? She had to turn to face him to make sure she'd heard him right. Well that was easier than expected then. "I'm very pleased that you say so." She honestly was. "Well yes, of course. Extension charms, especially going up the ceiling. I wanted to make it look as close to a real pitch as I could which is why there's the grass and the blue and crowds of people around the walls. I'm also possibly thinking about allowing customers to use weather charms to assist them in testing out, I'd obviously help them with that if it ever gets out of control." The rest he could pretty much see, couldn't he? "As for the fans, how about you go ahead and try out to see what happens?" A small excited smile couldn't help but form on her face.

He said he knew the basics..so what was he waiting for? She was watching.

Basil took a few more steps in the room and spun in place to take it all in. He was suddenly feeling significantly smaller - Extension Charms would do that sort of thing - and stood up on his tip toes to make himself feel a little better. "Unique grass?" he questioned. These were important details here woman. His quill was still working furiously to take in all these details. Interns...hmmm...yes. He had been meaning to do another piece on those. Perhaps this would be the summer to do it. Hmmm...

"So you are willing to customize each customer's testing experience to fit all sorts of needs," he said in confirmation. Yes, good quill. Keep scribbling. He would not be asking for any storms or high winds today, mind you, but it was good to note that such parameters could be set up should someone want.

Taking the broom between both hands, he mounted it and gave a firm kick off the ground so he was hovering a few feet in the air. He didn't exactly zoom forward, but instead began to take a nice leisurely glide around the room while removing a camera from his bag. "You don't mind if I take photographs, do you?"

Was he tip-toeing ~~in his jordans~~? Alright...strange that he did such a thing, but Erica decided not to judge so soon. Perhaps it was a habit of some sort. "Yes, it's extremely soft if you were to fall. It would probably avoid a normal falling incident. You can feel it. " She did not mention that it wasn't fully soft, it had to be somewhat tough. If you couldn't cope with somewhat roughness, you could say adios to your quidditch path.

Nods were given in his direction before she responded, "Well yes, isn't that what good business is? Serving your customers correctly?" He ought to know with the Daily Prophet readers that he had to interest weekly. Your customers always had to be pleased, and that was some skill that was best learnt by experience.

Well this wasn't just a tad awkward?

The Daily Prophet Chief Editor casually gliding about the room. Yet this wasn't high school and certainly not the time to make things even more awkward so Erica just acted as casually as she could. "Not at all, go ahead...just be careful not to fall," very careful. Women could do the multitask thing but men....good luck to him.

Right. So...he was on his broom now, grinning and bearing his own stupdity, gliding around the room with his enchanted camera following close behind him. The flash was probably figuratively blinding the painted spectators, but they could deal. This was for the Daily Prophet after all.

Serving your customers. Right, well, the Prophet's customers were of a slightly different variety from what the shopkeeper was referring to. Not everyone was pleased with his line of work - like that MLE head - but they only printed what sold.

So really, pressure was on this lady and her shop to deliver interest as well.

Alright. Enough photos for now. After one last one of himself on his broom wiggling his toes in his converse, naturally. "So...what do I need to do to get those folks to look more lively?" Those folks meaning the painted faces in the stands.

It took every muscle in her face to not have herself laugh at this flying editor. It was very difficult not to, it was an adult man, a professional man, riding on a broom whilst taking selfies here and there. What could be more hilarious?

Straight face. She struggled yet managed to keep her face so.

Her eyes scanned the audience that by now had eyes mostly on Mr. Skeeter. "I'd say impress them. A trick? or perhaps try shoot? I could fetch you a quaffle?" Speaking of which she planned to keep one of each quidditch ball in the room for future practices.

Right well. Grass and all that was not the best topic of conversation...so he was going to stop beating the dead unicorn and not respond to it. Just nod. Yep. Green grass. On the other side. Just like how he was now making his way over to the other side of the room. Just plugging along and pretend to be testing out a broom.

Tricks? He didn't have any of those. Not any that he could do on a broom anyway. Required a different set of flying gear.

"Quaffle sounds good," he nodded as he pulled up on his broom to come to a stop.

He was one of those quidditch enthusiasts, Paris could tell. Who else would talk about flying like that? "Yeah, I hope to get a broom of my own soon so I can fly when I want." "Yeah! Let's go." He didn't even WAIT for Toby, just bounced on his toes before running into the shop.

This kid was another bouncy one, at least a little bit. Toby's eyes shone with happiness for a moment before he realised they were moving on and followed Paris inside.

Stopping only very briefly by the broom section to grab any broomstick to try out (which turned out to be the Firebolt model, the very broom he already owned), Toby headed on over to the Broom Testing Room alongside his new flying comrade. The hope that this year they might be able to fly at Hogwarts was a little higher, seeing as he shared this particular interest with his new friend. Because they WERE friends. Absolutely. It was already decided. By Toby.

"Ooooh," said the Hufflepuff in question as soon as they reached the mercifully unoccupied room. "This is pretty neat." Like outside but not. And reminiscent of a Quidditch pitch. Toby briefly wondered whether it would be practical to decorate his bedroom like this. So what if he was nearly sixteen, it would be COOL. "You ready?"
