Bar and Service Counter https://i.postimg.cc/RZSQ98sw/bar-se...ter-banner.jpg Behind the counter is one of the most approachable people in Diagon Alley. Feel free to walk up to the counter and order anything off the menu. |
Caleb, age 19, dark hair, and dark eyes, standing around 5'4", he wore a green T-shirt, a dark jacket and blue jeans. He looked like he had just got back from somewhere in muggle London. He had a bit of a bedhead and looked more tired then hungry. But his stomach litterally growled. He muttered something along the lines of "quiet you, I'll feed us in a second" as he walked up to the counter. "Hello, he said smiling a bit to the woman behind the counter. "Can I please have a glass of chocolate moon milk and an avacado and turkey sandwich please?" He asked. |

Lucy no more than finished updating the guest book when a young man approached the counter. "Hello to you as well, young man. What may I help you with today?" She grabbed her quill and order pad. "One chocolate moon milk and an avocado and turkey sandwich coming right up." She quickly noted the order on the pad and looked back to her customer. "Let's make it an even 10 sickles today." She was in an especially good mood and passing along a little savings to a new face brightened her day even more. |
Caleb nodded, maybe he should have let her say how may I help you first, eh. His smile wavered a bit as he got the money out of his pocket to sort it out but it was still tjere so he wouldn't seem creepy. At least he hoped he didn't. Yeah. The former Slytherin was never good with people. He handed the woman the sickles. "Here you go miss," he said. |

SPOILER!!: Lucy Caleb nodded. "Oh, okay," he said a bit more relaxed. "Thank you ma'am," he said giving her a small nod. After that, he went to go find himself a table to sit at. |
"Ok, today is the day I join Wizarding Society," Mary quietly assured herself, "it will be ok." She clenched one Galleon her brother had gifted her. She would get more from the family vault at Gringotts next, but her siblings had wanted her to try butterbeer before anything else. "Hello," she said, though it was hard to tell if she said it to the floor or the counter. "One butterbeer please," she said, sliding the Galleon across the counter to Lucy. |

"My guess is you are starting Hogwarts in the fall. Are you excited? I remember my last summer before attending and I was a nervous mess. My older brother had told me all kids of fibs to scare me about the first day." Lucy reached to her right and filled an icy mug full of butterbeer before placing it on the counter for the young lady to take. |

The summer was quickly coming to an end. The students had all but vanished from Diagon Alley and the hustle and bustle of back to school was almost over. It had been another fantastic summer, and her heart was torn between missing the youngsters and being thankful for the more familiar atmosphere. She took in a slow, deep breath as her eyes scanned the main pub seating. The din of chatter was music to her ears. Her business was booming, her rooms were keeping up steady occupancy, and her cook was on top of her newer menu. With a quick swipe of her rag, Lucy cleaned off the already sparkling counter and readied herself for the next customer. |
With the shop closed for the day, Gideon decided to stop by the Leaky Cauldron before going home. He did have a working agreement with them and the shopkeeper wanted to show an effort and check in personally to make sure everything was going all right. It would be rude to make his partner, Lucy, the proprietor of the Leaky, be the one leading communications between them. He might be on the more quiet side, but he wasn't the outright rude type. Approaching the counter, Gideon suddenly hoped it wasn't too busy to interact. He might have forgotten that his off time was part of the potential meal times at the pub. Oh well...too late to back off now. He'd just have to see. |
Quote:
It always lightened her heart when the other Diagon Alley owners and workers came to visit her little establishment. They were her family, her work family at least, and she loved catching up with them and seeing how they were doing. |
Quote:
But first…business. “First…I wanted to check on how things were going…with the potions I mean.” Not that he didn't care about how things were going in general, he um, just wasn't too forward about that. So the potions master was playing it safe. He hadn’t heard of any bad news so maybe the old adage was right. No news was good news. But there was no harm in inquiring after the trial run. |
Quote:
"Why don't we slide down the counter just a bit so we can chat?" Lucy gave a little wave to David to watch the counter for her. "Would you care for a butterbeer? On the house." She had already moved a few steps over and had grabbed a glass to start filing. It was the least she could offer him and she liked keeping her customers and fellow shopkeepers happy. |
Quote:
That was good news for Gideon to hear. He hadn't be able to not be concerned over whether or not he had made the wrong move, especially since he hadn't consulted with his partner beforehand. "That's great," the potions master remarked to Lucy, taking her suggestion and moving to the side along the counter. No point in blocking the actual customers. As for the free butterbeer, he almost declined, or at least insisted that he could pay for himself but stopped. Gideon didn't want to appear rude to a kind offer so he nodded. "Sure...why not." This was all about mingling with fellow shopkeepers right. As such, he continued with asking her "How are things in general?" General interest in fellow man and shop. |
Quote:
Lucy took another long sip of her drink and sat the glass on the counter. "I've been thinking about hosting a little event for the Diagon Alley shopkeepers. I feel like we could all use an evening of fun and it would be nice to get to know everyone better. Would that be something you would be interested in?" |
“Thanks…” Gideon said simply as he accepted the drink, taking a sip or two as he listened to Lucy describe how it had been. All in all it appeared to be going well for the Leaky Cauldron and its proprietor. “Decent for the most part,” he admitted for his own shop as the status question was reciprocated. “Mostly pepper-up potions and the like with the various sicknesses abounding.” But business was still business and the bust summer season more than covered any slumps that happened during the rest of the year. As for talk of her plans… “I suppose I could be willing to come.” You know…prove he wasn’t the consummate hermit, a title he knew was sometimes bestowed upon at times. Well maybe not so much since he took over the shop but still. |
Quote:
"Splendid. I'll work on getting something planned. I just love getting to know everyone better." Her grandmotherly instincts gave her such an urge to take care of all the other shopkeepers like family. Lucy glanced over at the clock and noticed the time. "Can I offer you something to eat? On the house. My chef can make you just about anything you could want." |
Quote:
He had been smelling all the delicious scents of good food as they talked, reminding him that he hadn’t eaten much since a quick breakfast. “Maybe some fish and chips,” he offered, thinking over the options that appealed at the moment. “Though I can certainly pay…” the potioner added, trailing off. She didn’t have to feel like she had to treat him beyond what she had already done. |
Quote:
Lucy shook her head and grinned. "Your galleons are no good here, young man." After jotting down his order on the pad she placed the slip on the order wheel. "It should be up shortly. In the meantime, make yourself at home." |
Quote:
He should have known it wasn’t going to work. Sure enough, she protested him talking of paying for his food. “Yes ma’am,” he said, giving in out of respect. It wasn’t something he was going to argue about, especially since it wasn’t his place but hers to make that sort of decision. |
Quote:
She started to step away, then turned back. "I really enjoyed your visit today. Please come by again soon. And, I'll make sure I stop by your shop." |
So this was the infamous Leaky Cauldron? Truth be told, he was expecting something a little more ... flashy. This was England after all. But, nevertheless, it would do. It most certainly would do. Quickly glancing over his shoulder at his pack, just to make sure all there was fine and nothing was trying to sneak its way out of it, the self-proclaimed tradesman weaved his way between the tables with eyes set on the woman at the counter. Her being behind it left no question in his mind that she was in charge or at least worked here. "Good morning," the man said with a charming smile, his Egyptian accent very obvious. "I need a room to stay in until the World Cup officially begins. Do you have any that are free?" He hoped that he had arrived before the big mass of non-Brits. It was easy to imagine a quant place like this filling up fast. |
The bulk of the morning rush had ended and Lucy had just stepped back behind the counter when a young, rather handsome, young man approached. He reminded her just a bit of what her husband had looked like in his younger years and it put an extra touch of sweetness in her voice. "Good morning to you, sir. You are in luck as I do have a few rooms still available. They have been filling up fast with the World Cup fans arriving." She turned and grabbed a guest room form from the stack. "I'll need you to fill one of these forms out, then I can get you set up for the duration of your visit." She placed the form on the counter and grabbed a writing utensil to hand to the man. A soft bed and a good night's sleep. That's what she wanted more than anything at that very moment. All the excitement of the past several weeks and build up over the weeks to come was going to get the better of her if she didn't take a few moments to rest. Plus, a hot shower was calling her name. With her bag slung across her back, she approached the older lady at the counter. "Hey there, I should have a room already reserved. Nila Deep. It might be under Anuja Chaudhary, our coach." |
Quote:
Moving her sunglasses up to sit on top of her head and entering the establishment, Aparna was pleasantly surprised. It seemed to be a rather nice place, completely belying the name. She had to wonder where the owner got that name, The Leaky Cauldron. It didn't really seem like a name one would give a restaurant/inn. Speaking of inns, as she approached the counter she spotted her teammate Nila asking after a room. "Ditto for me!" she spoke up. "Also maybe under either Anuja Chaudhary or my own name, Aparna Singh." Turning to Nila, she asked "So, you excited?" Personally, she was. The World Cup was the culmination of everything she'd been working towards all her life. All the late practices, missed family dinners, everything. |

Another guest! Lucy was beyond excited that the players were arriving. The first young lady looked like it had been a long day of travel and Lucy wanted to get her checked in and taken care of as soon as possible. "Welcome to the Leaky, Ms. Deep, I have you right here and ready to go. The first floor, except room 11, is reserved for all of the Quidditch World Cup players. I believe your captain has already gone up and should be able to point you to the room assigned by your coach." Noticing another young lady approaching, heavy with luggage, Lucy paused to take her name. "Yes, Ms. Singh. Your room is ready as well. Will either of you care for some assistance with your bags?" As she spoke, Lucy grabbed the QWC Teams sign-in sheet and placed it on the counter. "If I could have both of you initial next to your name then you are welcome to head up to the first floor. And, ladies, please don't hesitate to let me know if there is anything I can get you. I'm happy to send out for any items you may need and our kitchen is fully stocked and ready." |
Priya followed her teammates into the Leaky Cauldron, forever rolling her eyes at the name. It had sounded wrong when she was fifteen and visiting for the first time, and it sounded wrong now as she was made to visit once more. Then again, very little was right in this city. The air was full of muggle pollution, the people unfriendly and the local food was truly atrocious. So bland. Incidentally, that was an excellent description of her ex. A Londoner by birth. At least she's not bitter. Luckily for the professional keeper, her eye rolling and general attitude were hidden away behind large expensive sunglasses. She offered her name to the lady at the desk, a curt "Priya Malviya, I'm with them", but it was hard to maintain her signature grump act when they were here for such a happy occasion. A chance to stick elbows in some international ribs and win the Quidditch World cup, no less! Only her biggest dream since she'd first picked up a quaffle. Priya adjusted the bag she had slung over her shoulder, and smirked a little at Aparna. "Would hungry for blood count as excited?" Because that's exactly how she's feeling at the present moment. That, and perhaps craving a butterbeer. It's the one single thing she enjoys about London, the neverending supply of that golden, sugary goodness. |

"Please let me know if there is anything I can get for you. I can send out for almost any item you may need." |
Meera wanted to jump and scream as she entered the famous Leaky Cauldron, but she kept a reserved manner as she took in all the details of this place. She subconsciously watched customers chattering away and playing the piano in the seating area for nearly a minute before beginning to examine the pictures on the walls. Suddenly realizing how long she had been in her phased out observant state, she started to the counter. She was one of the youngest players recruited for either side, so Meera was a bit of outcast among them. Nevertheless, she joined the already congregated group in front of the bartender. "I'm also with them. Meera Jain." |

Now, of course, he didn't respond and outwardly react in any way. All he did was let that charming smile of his work its magic. The form was expected. As soon as it was passed over to him along with a utensil, Malik did glance through it and half thought about making up some of the details. Should he make up a name and date of birth? He quickly decided against it, certain identification of some sort would be needed for verification purposes. The pet part of the form, however... well, a little white lie never hurt anyone. She didn't need to know about the fury litter he was keeping in his pack. Within a matter of minutes, he had finished scribbling on the necessary forms and handed them back to the woman. Arjun had arrived in London with the rest of his team and had enjoyed being shown the city, of course. But he had definitely slipped away to find a Muggle gym nearby to sign up to. He wouldn't be recognised there and it meant that he could swim and train off the pitch without the eyes of his team mates on him. But he had sent his luggage ahead to the Leaky Cauldron, so once his gym membership had been activated Arjun had hurried there. "Is the art of no leaks not important to cauldrons in this country?" His words announced his presence behind the ladies of his team, grin spreading across his face. "Arjun Nagarkar, ma'am. Did you say the first floor? Non-negotiable? What is the view?" |
Text Cut: Malik While the young man filled out his form, Lucy grabbed the key to his room and made a few notes on her guest log. The first floor had been reserved for the quidditch teams, but the second floor was strictly for guests. She hoped the separation would keep the noise down for those not on the teams. Once he was finished, Lucy gave the form a once over. "Splendid. Everything looks in order, Mr. Zaman. Our two-week rate is 160 galleons. Would you like to pay in full now, or half up front and the rest in seven days?" Normally she would collect the full payment up front, but she knew that a lot were traveling from far distances for the festivities and didn't want to deplete their funds all at once. "I'm going to put you in room 2-2. It's on the top floor and down the hall to the right." She placed the key on the counter. "Would you like some help with your bags?" Text Cut: Arjun Nagarkar and Meera Jain Before she could finish checking in the first three ladies another, much younger, lady appeared at the counter. Lucy paused a moment, wondering if she was with the group, but they all appeared to be together. Once she said her name, it immediately rung a bell as being on her list. "Welcome, Ms. Jain. Please initial the check-in sheet and you are welcome to head on up to the first floor. A block of rooms has been reserved for your team." "Yes, young man, first floor. I'm afraid the arrangements were made in advance and the rooms were all reserved for the first floor. Rooms 1-3 through 1-6 all have a nice view of the courtyard, but you will have to work that out with your Captian." She scanned her list for his name. "Ah, yes, Mr. Nagarkar. Your bags arrived earlier and are already upstairs. If you would please initial the check in then you are welcome to go on up." |
my children Coach Chaudhary coming through. Anuja love love loved all the alliterations. Making her way through the small crowd of vacationers and diners, Anuja levitated her luggage across the room to join her team—her children. "Mujhe maaf kijiye! Excuse me," she said. They would have to move it if they didn’t want her luggage toppling all over them! It had been a long trip from India and Anuja wanted nothing but for all of her babies to get some rest. Arjun received a poke on the ribs from her, however, for that comment. "Nonu, no complaining!" she said, putting her luggage down on the floor when she finally joined them. Anuja was sure as eggs is eggs that the view would still be pleasant. They came here not for the view but for the World Cup, no? "That would be me, Anuja Chaudhary," she smiled at the lady behind the desk. "And would you be a dear and have someone help me with my luggage as well? Thank you." Levitation was not a bother but with keeping her arm up all the way to the first floor? Muscle strain was a no no, and certainly not at this age. Mujhe maaf kijiye: Excuse me Nonu: nickname for one's son |
oh yay Quidditch people Something one Euphemia Castell prided herself in? You know, besides being as flighty as a sprite? It was her ability to be discreetly obsequious, most especially when she was covering a story, or stories if you will, considering the Quidditch World Cup and the whereabouts of the peeps involved was totally worthy of a write-up in the Prophet. So there she was, glossy blue and green hair under a hood, falling into step next to the Indians. Her eyes sparkling in quiet amusement at their conversation. Turning to the shopkeeper and sliding a galleon over the counter, Euphy simply said, "I'll have a firewhiskey." |
Quote:
"It appears that your account has been settled and any meals you would like have been covered as well. I do hope you find your stay here at the Leaky to be a pleasant one and please don't hesitate to let me know if I can get anything for you or your team." Quote:

Lucy and the team Text Cut: Lucy She'd barely gotten her name out when the rest of her team started to trickle in. "He's already up there? I guess I better get on up as well. Thank you." She initialed the sheet and stepped to the side for the rest of her teammates to finish the sign in process. Nila grinned at Aparna, "Excited doesn't even begin to explain how I feel." Excited, yes, on the verge of running through the streets shouting with joy, yes. She was part of the most skilled team on the planet, what wasn't there to be excited about? She laughed, "I"d say hungry for blood sounds about right." Priya had joined the pair and was shortly followed by Meera. "Welcome, Meera, nice of you to join us. Did you have any trouble finding the place?" "Who has time to care what the view will be? We need to focus on winning, not the view." She shook her head at Arjun then had to do a quick sidestep to avoid being hit by the floating luggage. "Hey, Coach. Nice to see you. I think we are all getting checked in and ready to head up to the rooms." |
The fact that Nyx Higgs even had a free moment to herself was shocking. Usually the seeker was busy practicing. Quidditch was her life - it always had been. She'd upped her training schedule as the games continued to get more and more intense, and she could practically taste the World Cup as they continued to move up in the ranks. Even hard core athletes know when they need a break, though. The woman had tweaked a muscle slightly in her wrist catching a snitch in practice today and had decided to cut it short. Having sustained a number of injuries throughout her career, she knew that it wasn't anything serious. If she kept pushing herself, it certainly would be. She decided to stop by the Leaky for a quick drink. She deserved it, after all. She'd relax for a few moments, then head back to her flat and get a good night's sleep, ready to get back to training tomorrow, bright and early. As she entered the pub, her eyes immediately fell on a gaggle of Quidditch players at the bar. The Indian team, if she wasn't mistaken. She'd heard they would be lodging here. Ordering a butterbeer, she walked over to a table near the corner and sat down, eyes scanning the Indian team as she sipped at her drink. Normally, their paths wouldn't be crossing, due to being in separate leagues. This was the World Cup, though - that made them competition. There was nothing Nyx loved more than studying the competition. Hopefully out of sight, she continued to watch, eyes darting back and forth between each member. She paused every once in a while to look around at the rest of the pub crowd - just to seem less suspicious - as she continued her recon from the corner table. |
Basically everyone Text Cut: Lucy Meera had always felt a bit of a rift between her and her teammates, whether they felt it or not. Most of them were well-known quidditch players, and she was just Meera. She was a good seeker in all, but never really felt truly world cup worthy. It seemed to her that the innkeeper had thought she was a little young to be on this team. It was that facial expression, something about it. "Thank you," she said as she initialed the sheet and gave way for Arjun. She carried her luggage behind her, not bothering to ask for help. Text Cut: Coach Meera noticed Anuja entering the room and quickly made her way over to her. She had both picked and put up with Meera, so she did not feel the same about her coach as she did with the rest of the team. "Hello Coach Chaudhary," she said gleefully. Coach felt almost like a second mother to her, so much so that she wondered if the coach considered her to be like a child. She had certainly helped her get over her self doubt about the world cup. Text Cut: Nila As Meera was waiting for her turn to check in, she was addressed by Nila. Her teammates were still polite to her, even if they secretly resented having such a new player as their seeker, or so she thought. "Oh, nice to see you. I found it without too much issue. How are you doing?" |
Everyone! "That counts," Aparna replied to Pryia with a smile. Though, she personally would leave all of that to the beaters. Would she like some help with her bags? "Yes, please!" Yeah, she could deal with them herself, but since she was offering..... She couldn't help but chuckle at Arjun's comment about the cauldrons. It just went along with what she was thinking about the name maybe not being the best for an eating establishment. "Hey, Coach!" It looked like the gang was all here then. Yay! |

Coffee gave him energy. It was simple logic that allowed him the little vice. Leon sipped the mug as he took pause to survey the surroundings, noting the players at the bar. The Indian National Team. Or so he thought. He also noticed the eyes watching them, mostly hidden, but easily recognisable. And so it was towards those eyes that he headed. "Spying are we, Higgs?" Leontius took a seat on the same table as the Seeker as he spoke. Coffee and water were set down in front of him. Elbows, too - fingers laced, chin resting upon them. The bright blue eyes studying Nyx quickly flicked to the players at the bar. |

The charming smile of his quickly appeared on his face the moment the innkeeper started talking once more. Splendid. Everything so far was splendid. Sans the talk of money. It didn't take her long to start asking for that now, did it? "I can pay half now," he said, fishing in a pocket for a handful of gold coins he had acquired and placing them on the counter. In all honesty, that was most of his funds right there before them. But Malik wasn't too worried about that. Within a few days, he'd have plenty of money to spare with some help from his little friends. For a moment he hesitated when she mentioned helping him with his bags. His instant thought was that he had somehow been busted and she wanted her hands on the pack on his back to look inside. But the man played it cool. "Oh, no, thank you. It's just my pack after all. I can manage just fine," he said as he reached for his key. |
Quote:
His hesitation over the luggage went unnoticed. "As you wish. Please do be careful on the stairs and let me know if you would like supper brought up to you later on. The full menu is served to the guest rooms, although you are more than welcome to dine down here. The table by the fireplace is nice and cozy." It was one of her favorite places to sit. It had a great view of both the front and back doors as well as being able to see the very bottom of the guest room stairs. It allowed her to keep watch over the entire floor from one cozy spot. She tapped his paperwork on the counter then placed it in the file. "You are all set. I do so hope you enjoy your stay, Mr. Zaman." |
Quote:
"I prefer to think of it as quiet observation," she told him, looking back at the Indian team before taking a sip of her drink. "Spying would imply that I am looking to gain information to use against them. I don't play like that. I plan to beat them by pure skill, should they make it to the finals against us," she explained to her teammate with a slight smirk. |
Quote:
Moving away from the counter with firewhiskey in hand, Euphy situated herself in one corner and watched in silent amusement as two of England's brightest walked in and began to converse about the competition. Mhm. This was starting to sound interesting. |
Quote:
It also made it possible to find out a little more about her competition. Although truthfully, all that she was finding out was that the men were pretty handsome... She was tempted to flirt a bit -- after all, fierce competition didn't have to equate to unfriendly competition, did it? But her teammates may not be happy with her if they found out she'd fraternized with the enemy, so to speak. Besides, the media, especially that rag The Daily Prophet, loved to paint her as something of a man-eater, which she resented. It was so far from the truth, and she hated that people thought it about her. Plus, it really limited her actual romantic options when she couldn't be seen in public with any man without a new rumor starting. So... Better not to play into that stereotype. Instead, she settled on admiring from afar. Sigh. She ordered her butterbeer and took a sip, searching the room for a place to sit, but not finding one before her eyes alighted on two of her England teammates, Leontius and Nyx. Hmm. Had they seen her? If it was just Leontius over there, Renee wouldn't have hesitated -- though he did seem a bit full of himself, she could admit inwardly to having a bit of a schoolgirl crush on him (not that she would EVER let him know that) -- but Nyx... Well, she could be a bit intimidating. Or maybe no-nonsense was a better word. Focused. Renee respected that, but she was never totally sure how the Seeker felt about her, and she didn't know what her reception would be if she joined them. But even if Leontius and Nyx hadn't spotted her, others had. She heard someone stage-whisper her name and turned her head instinctively to see a teenage girl pointing at her subtly and saying something to her friend. (That was the part of professional Quidditch that Renee couldn't quite get used to.) She gave the girls a small wave and smile before turning her attention back to the seating problem. Well... It would look bad if her young fans saw her snub her teammates. Guess it was time to head their way. She weaved her way across the pub until she reached the table they were seated at. "Hi, you two. Mind if I join you?" She didn't wait for an answer before sliding into a seat. "Didn't realize it would be so crowded." She gestured toward the Indian team with a nod. |
All of the Indian Team! As usual, ladies first. Taking up the line behind coach, Mayur gave the woman handing out the room keys a charming smile. "Mayur Anand." It seemed unneeded to state that he was here with Coach and the team. Right? Eh. Sure, she seemed like a smart woman. She'd figure it out. He gave her another smile to be nice. He grinned at his teammates, hearing that their captain was already up in his room. Sounded like Raju. He also noted coach asking for help with her bags, and if the Leaky Cauldron Though, while he waited he gave his fellow Beater a grin. "I found a gym nearby - do you know if Coach had one in mind? Think we could go try it out in the morning?" |
SPOILER!!: Golzio & Higgs Had Leontius known that his teammate felt such a way about him, he would have been shocked. The sociable blonde was happily oblivious, though. His mum always said he was terrible at judging people. Leon disagreed - at least when it came to being on the Pitch. During the game, he could judge a person better than most people. Judge his teammates. Judge the opposition. Judge the next throw, tackle, try. A shrug. A sip of his coffee. "Some would say gaining information is a skill," he murmured. The ability to gain information about their play, from just observation. He missed Nyx's smirk, eyes focused on the potential opponents. But he was very glad to hear she was just as sure, just as ambitious as he was about the final. Leontius almost missed Renee, but her joining them was welcome. To him, if not Higgs. "Not at all," he mused. She had already say down when he spoke, and he smiled jovially at her. Eyes flicked back to the Indian team. He shrugged. "They have to stay somewhere. I do wonder if any other team is lodging here." He was tempted to wave at the potential opposition, but a sidelong glance at Nyx stopped him. She was fierce. He didn't fancy aggravation during practice. |
The India National team had made their presence known at the Leaky with their simultaneous arrival. Lucy beamed with pride that her establishment would be hosting the team and they all seemed quite polite and well mannered. "It looks like you are all set up and your rooms are ready. Best of luck to you all in the upcoming games. Please let me know if there anything I can do for you or send out to get for you during your stay." There was bound to be a few items at least one of the players would need while they were there and she had a great relationship with most of the other shopkeepers in Diagon Alley. Lucy could easily call upon one of the many to send over any item needed. |
Leon and Renee Nyx actually smiled and chuckled a bit at Leon's remark This pub was becoming dreadfully crowded, and as soon as she thought this, Renee came over to the table and made herself right at home. Nyx had been naive to think she was going to have a nice quiet drink all to herself. She should have known this would happen. Socializing wasn't exactly a CHORE for her...but it was something she avoided, if she could. "I believe they're lodging here," she informed her as Renee started to wonder aloud about where they were staying. She ignored her request to sit - since she was already doing that. "If not - they seem to really enjoy the pub aspect of it, at least," she said with a small shrug as she took a sip of her butterbeer. Sure enough, as soon as she said that, the innkeeper approached the team and loudly announced that their rooms were ready. Nyx raised at eyebrow at Renee as the detail was confirmed before taking another sip of her drink. Whenever she didn't know what to say - taking a drink was a good distraction. |

A hand gripped tighter onto one of the straps and the other onto the key that he had just been handed. Malik was beginning to turn away toward the stairs when the landlady mentioned something about meals being brought up to his room. "Uhh, no need, ma'am," he said, flashing a smile just to avoid looking like he was up to something. "Will likely catch a bite down here once I'm settled in." He did need to mingle and scout around. More importantly, however, was that he didn't want to have to explain why he had a littler of rodent-like creatures roaming about his room should someone happen to walk in out of the blue. "See you around," he added as a quick afterthought before darting up the stairs to Room 2-2. |
Leon and Nyx :) "Hmm," Renee took a sip of her butterbeer, agreeing with Nyx's assessment -- the Indian team did seem to like the pub. They were very social. As to whether any other teams were staying there? "Good question. I'd be interested to know that, too. Give us a chance to check out the competition. But even besides that, it's kind of fun to have them here. I mean, crowded, definitely, but the whole atmosphere is kind of... Jovial, isn't it? Lively. Brings some excitement around." She smiled at her teammates before turning her head to glance into the crowd of "So," she said, turning her attention back to Leontius and Nyx abruptly, "I'm feeling pretty confident about these upcoming matches. I think we really have a good shot of making it all the way. It really seems like our team just kind of... fits together. There's a flow. Lately I've come away from our practices feeling like we could conquer the world. What do you both think?" As she placed the emphasis on the word "fits," Renee peeked at Leon from under her eyelashes. She wasn't trying to flirt with him, not really. Sometimes she just couldn't help it. It came naturally. (And as much as she denied the things that the Daily Prophet printed about her serial-romancing... Well... Objectively, it wasn't all a pile of lies.) Anyway, it wasn't like she had feelings for him or anything. She just thought he was cute. So sue her. She thought pretty much all of her male teammates were attractive. Come on, they were professional athletes, for Merlin's sake. She quickly pulled her gaze away from him before it became obvious she'd been looking, instead bringing her eyes over to Nyx. She studied the Seeker's face quickly, trying to decipher what she was thinking. Renee didn't want to stare, but even if she had done, Nyx was hard to read. Every now and then, Renee caught a glimpse of some humor in her eyes, but it was just a flicker occasionally. Or maybe Renee was just getting a bad read on her. Whatever the case, she was a mystery -- and a darn good Quidditch player, no matter what else. |
Higgs and Golzio "I daresay you are gifted," Leontius agreed merrily with Nyx, before he paused to raise his coffee cup towards her and her skill. She was their Seeker. Observation was of the utmost importance in her role. Without it, he could score as many goals as he wanted, but that extra 150 points the Snitch brought remained elusive. An amused grin crossed Leon's face. Renee's observation that the atmosphere was jovial was something he agreed with, although he wasn't sure that Nyx did. "It definitely makes me feel more competitive." And indeed, the blue eyes wandered to see who was causing more of a stir with the general public. His face remained amused as he watch Renee wind her hair up. It reminded him of the actions of a love-struck teenager. "Which one do you have your eye on, then?" He could tease. He sipped his coffee as Renee turned the talk to their own team. A sidelong glance occurred in Nyx's direction. He wanted to see how she felt. As such, he missed the playful glance of Renee, but it was a question as to whether he would have noticed either way. One could never quite tell whether Leon was aware of peoples opinions of him. Indeed, a lot of the time he was unsure whether his observations were correct himself. "There's a lot of talent on the pitch," he agreed after a moment. "We work well together." |

She watched him only for a moment as he walked off towards the stairs. Soon, the next customer approached the counter and she was focused on their transaction. |
Leon and Renee Nyx smiled politely at her teammate when he complimented her skills. "Thank you, Leon, although without you guys manning the rest of the pitch, I wouldn't be nearly as successful," she added. It was true. They earned points to give her a bit of extra padding, as it were. Also, they made sure Quaffles and Bludgers didn't hit her as she searched for the snitch. That was probably their most important job! Her frown immediately vanished though as Renee started doing all that hair flipping. Oh for the love of MERLIN. This is why she hardly hung out with other people. Romance had no allure to her - because people tended to act like crazy people. Case in point. Was Leon really that oblivious to this obvious flirting? If she weren't worried about this interfering with the cup, she might just flat out tell him that Renee was trying to get his attention. "I do agree, we are on a hot streak and I'm excited to see where it goes," she added, bringing things back to the conversation of Quidditch once again. Her eyes looked over at the Indian team again, wondering what they were doing to be so successful. She had a gut feeling in her heart that they were going to be the ones to beat... |
Aurora! Torii had been looking forward to a butterbeer literally all day, and she was determined to get one now. She'd passed by the Leaky Cauldron around lunchtime, but the place had looked so packed that she didn't dare walk inside. She didn't need a butterbeer that badly. However, now she really did want one, and busy or not, she was getting one now. She approached the service counter and waited her turn in line. She pushed her hand into her pocket and felt for her money. It was all still there as far as she could tell. She looked over the shoulder of a super tall man right in front of her. Only two people ahead of her. Awesome! |

Tori and the shopkeeper too Aurora wasn't that starving, but she wanted to grab something to eat. After finished with her shopping spree, the Korean-American decided to come to this pub. This place was quite crowded, probably because it's lunchtime and they did serve good food here. She believed if a restaurant, cafe or anything was crowded, it's because their menu were excellent and people loved eating there. She was standing in line with a few people ahead of her, including this cute girl. Staring at the menu, Aurora was unfamiliar with some of the items there. Steak and Kidney? Like... an actual kidney? Holy Isolt, that didn't sound appealing. Pie as entrees? Oh wait, she did read about how British people loved their pie savory. Probably she should try it but also... those fish and chips sounded intriguing. "Do they serve fish and chips with... potato chips?" As in chips, like Pringles or Lays. |
Text Cut: Lucy and Aurora Oh. It was her turn now! Cool! Torii gave the lady a polite smile as she looked up at the menu to verify her selection. "I'll take a butterbeer, please," she said. Did it come in different sizes? She didn't know, but if it did, the lady would probably say something. She fished in her pocket and pulled out a bit of change. As she did this, she became aware of some girl talking, and she honestly couldn't tell if the girl was talking to her or not. Uhh... "You mean fries? Or like, actual crisps?" Torii asked. She remembered being in that same position not that long ago. "If you want fries, you ask for chips, but if you want the thin, crunchy-type chips, you ask for crisps." Did that make sense? Verifying the price on the menu, the fifteen-year-old counted out the change and passed it to the bartender. She even added in a bit more for a tip. |

Funny that both England and America use English but has different terms for certain things such as this potato thing. Aurora knew chips as something that has been thinly sliced and cooked until it has crunchy texture, and it's not only for those that's made from potato. But according to the girl who stood in front of her, chips was actually what American called "fries". Ahhh... "Oh, so this fish and chips is served with fries..."" The Korean-American nodded. "Thanks." When the shopkeeper asked the girl in front of her if her friend (a.k.a herself), Aurora just chuckled. "Oh, we don't come together. I'm just asking her about this chips and fries thingy." She mused a smile. "But I would like to try it, please? It sounds good. Is there anything that you' recommend for a newcomer like me?" She asked them both. |
On the particularly sunny October afternoon, Lucy hummed as she cleaned down the counters and sorted through her supply lists. The holidays would soon be upon them and she was enjoying the last few weeks of calm before the rush. Her eyes drifted towards the front door when she heard the all too familiar jingle of the bell and she wondered who would soon be approaching the counter. |
bringing out my man, Lucien :D Quote:
It had been a while since his Hogwarts days where he would come through the Leaky to get to Diagon Alley and meet up with friends before the school year to get their supplies. Fond memories indeed. Making his way to the counter he smiled at the woman behind it. "Hello, I'm Lucien Wright. How are you on this lovely day?" |

She seemed like a very busy woman, he didn't want to waste her time and got straight to the point. "Well, I'd love a form for a room and to order some food. I'd like to sta for about two weeks if there's a room available?" Giving a brief look over the menu he knew what he wanted. "Can I get a butterbeer and a turkey sandwich?" It sounded like just the ticket for him. the butterbeer would wash it all down nicely and would be great after the traveling he's been doing. |

Text Cut: Leaky Cauldron Guest Room Form "One butterbeer and a turkey sandwich, coming right up. I'll tell you what, if you go ahead and book the room, the drink and sandwich are on the house." It was a small gesture, but she enjoyed being able to treat her overnight guests when possible. |

With a grin on his face, Lucien happily accepted the paper. "This is just excellent, thank you." He read over the paper briefly and grabbed a pen from his inner jacket pocket and began to fill the form. SPOILER!!: Leaky Cauldron Guest Room Form Handing the form back to the woman he heard her offer and couldn't resist. "That sounds like an offer I can't refuse." Partially because he couldn't be bothered to look elsewhere for accommodations, but the Leaky was just fine for what he needed anyways. "Absolutely lovely, thank you." With a look over his shoulder he continued, "Would it be alright if I were to bring my things up to the room now? And come back down for the drink and food? I'm terribly sorry, it's just been a long day." He smiled, but understood if she needed time to make up the room. |
Open post! Having recently come into ownership of the magnificent Leaky Cauldron, and bringing back many memories from her young Hogwarts days, Lou found herself on a ladder behind the counter with a chalk pen in hand. She had a list of the items offered and was transcribing it onto her new, large, blackboard walls behind the bar. Using the temporary lines, she made uniform and tidy lettering across the boards. Various potted plants scattered around the shelves, counter, and grew up the walls. Mostly herbs and vegetables that she would also use in her food and drinks. The touch of her Homesteading brought to the Leaky, where she wanted to offer her customers delicious tastes of flavourful produce. She paused to stretch out her wrist. Of course doing it the muggle way was painful and slow, but she had already organised everything, put things into their places, and cleaned every one of the guest-rooms. She had time to do this the muggle way. |
Text Cut: Lou ”Pardon?” Winnie called out as she leaned on the counter. Shopping bags from Madam Primpernelle's and Madam Malkin's leaned against her ankles where she had placed them. She watched the witch on the latter writing on the blackboards for a moment and then, without thinking (as was her way) asked. ”Wouldn’t a charm have been easier?” And safer, but she kept that to herself. Winnie wasn’t completely lacking in social pleasantries. Conley had made sure of that with years of his dragging her along to diplomatic events. They were always dull, droning affairs and she was quite grateful that her cousin had finally found a significant other to drag along now…well, eventually to drag along. Apparently not soon enough though, because in one of her bags was an evening dress she was going to have to stuff herself into in a few days. Some such event in France for some event celebrating something…she should probably figure it out before Conley picked her up. She wondered if Sachin would be attending too, but had a feeling he wouldn’t be. Which would be fine, so long as Rosa was not there. She forced those thoughts from her mind as she watched the witch work. ”Although I imagine the charm wouldn’t have as nice lettering as you do.” She smiled, a big toothy thing. She wasn’t in a hurry and could wait for the witch to finish her writing. |

"No, I suppose not," Winnie agreed, pulling out a seat and sitting down. No point in taking up a table when she was alone, right? She watched the young lady decent the ladder. "I don't think I've seen you around before," she stated with a smile, wondering if she was new, but trying to be tactful in case she wasn't. Winnie wasn't always the most observant. Big shopping... oh! Winnie glanced down at the bags by her feet and blushed a little. "Yes, well," she shrugged. Truth be told, she'd normally spend more and done more shopping if she hadn't been rushed. That and she just hadn't been feeling herself lately. "I could do with something..." She glanced up at the newly printed menu. " Red Current Rum and a....cesar salad...sounds great. Please," She pushed one of the bags in a little closer to the counter with her foot. |
Quote:
Lou nodded at the order. She didn't need to write it down, not whilst it was just the one customer. She waved her wand into the kitchen and allowed the magic do its work in preparing a caesar salad, whilst she got about measuring out the red current rum. "Did you want some ice?" Lou asked, placing a glass down. |
Text Cut: Lou ”Winnie,” She responded with a big smile. ”Nice to meet you Lou,” She reached over and shook hands with a firm, but not too hard handshake. ”A bed and breakfast? Sounds quaint.” She let go of Lou’s hand and picked up her water glass.”And quiet. Do you miss the coast? Or are you glad to be back in London?” She’d never been to Berwick, but she knew where it was located. ”Ice would be nice,” She paused, then giggled softly to herself at the silliness of the rhyme. ”Have you always worked in places like the Leaky?” she asked. She realized it was perhaps a bit meddlesome to ask. But Winnie was nothing if not a curious soul. To be safe, she added, ”Sorry if I’m being nosy.” |
Quote:
Finishing off the drink, Lou placed it in front of Winnie with a coaster, before heading out to the kitchen to get the caesar salad, putting cutlery and a complimentary chunk of garic bread on the side. Fresh garlic and herbs, and the smell of freshly baked bread was too much to tempt Lou into baking it this morning. She wrote the 2 Galleons and 4 Sickles on the bill, placing it on the order holder behind the counter. Just for when she was ready. "No, it's always been the bed and breakfast, or working on the farm at my parent's home. A bit of tending to animals, but it was mostly tending to the gardens and cooking which was what I loved the most about opening my own B&B. All the food I offered was made by me, and all of the fruits and vegetables were from my garden." She knew she would miss her farm and gardens soon, though. "Not at all! Tell me about yourself Winnie." She had a good ear and loved to get to know people. |
Text Cut: Lou ”I imagine the city is a big distraction,” Winnie said smiling as she watched Lou fix her drink. As the lady walked off, Winnie picked up the cocktail and took a small sip. She closed her eyes enjoying the taste. The background noise of the pub buzzed around her as she took a moment to center herself. She was really not looking forward to going to this dinner with Conley, but as he usually footed the bill for everything, she couldn’t really complain. Could she? She guessed she could always say no next time, but… The clunk of the plate brought Winnie back to the present and she opened her eyes and pulled herself out of her reverie. Ooooo garlic bread! Was the woman trying to win Winnie’s heart? Garlic bread was the best. ”Farm! Did you have chickens and goats? I love goats.” And goat cheese and goat milk. She was glad she wasn’t being obnoxious. Oftentimes she found that people mistook her enthusiasm for learning new things as impertinence. ”Me?” she asked, voice sounding a bit surprised. People didn’t often ask her about herself. What to say? She took a bite of salad as she thought. ”I work as an aurologist and sometimes as a curse breaker for Gringotts.” Depending on the type of curse her particular skills with reading auras could be quite useful. Mostly she sat in on meetings and reported back later about the room’s occupant’s temperaments. It was often boring, but it paid well. |
Quote:
Lou enjoyed watching her food bring some joy to her customers, and she pulled her seat to her end of the bar. Nodding she said "Chickens, and lots of them, goats, cows, we had a few dogs and a cat." She took a sip of her water. "Mmm they are good, we had all of our eggs, milks, cheeses from them. We didn't really have to buy an awful lot of produce." She got to save money by doing what she loved. Letting out a small laugh and nodding, Lou stopped talking about herself to listen about Winnie. "An aurologist? That sounds really interesting. What got you into that?" |
*Entering the pub Gabben and Krel went to the bar to order. Looking over the menu he had to stop himself from ordering five different meals. Once he decided what he wanted he made his order.* “Hello, I’d like to order two cups of tea, and an order of Fish and Chips. And she will have...” *He trailed off to let her order.* |
Lou and Gabben Text Cut: Lou ”Sounds like a lovely house –no-farmful. I’m quire jealous. I wasn’t even allowed to have an owl until I turned 15.” She’d always loved animals, even if she hadn’t gotten the greatest grades in CoMC class. ”And I bet that everything tastes so much better when it’s fresh.” She took a bite of her salad. What to say about her job? She settled on her usual explanation. ”Well,” she pushed a piece of lettuce around on her plate while she spoke. ”I’ve sorta always been able to read auras. What I do with the skill isn’t actually that interesting. I mostly sit in on meetings and later report back my observations on the participants and the room’s atmospheres. Sometimes, I report back on the auras of cities the bank wants to do business with and banking trends in general.” She felt like she wasn’t making much sense and took the moment to eat more of her salad. After she finished chewing, she added. ”And sometimes, the skill comes in handy when they have a particularly nasty curse they need to break. But that’s only on the rarest of cases.” Text Cut: Gabben Krel had let go of Gabben’s arm a block or so before they entered the Leaky. As they stepped on the property, she pulled out her wand and took a moment to change her pill-box hat back to her fashionable witch’s fedora. At least, now it wouldn’t slip off like it had after Gabben had bumped into her. She stored away her wand and followed Gabben to the service counter. ”Hello,” she said kindly in English that hinted that she often spoke another language. ”Shepherd’s pie please.” She glanced over the menu and even though she didn’t see any on the menu, she had to ask. ”Don’t suppose you have any muffins cooking do you?” because for Krel to have tea without a muffin was like…Christmas without those silly paper crowns. And, well, it didn’t hurt to ask now did it? |

It was very interesting, listening about the job Winnie did. Reading Auras, interpreting them, knowing what they indicated. Lou had no special talents like that, unless a green thumb counted. "Is it something you had to practice or train?" She asked out of curiosity. Lou had finished scrubbing the oven clean after baking some fresh bakery items, getting rid of all traces of crumbs, food, and grease, and was now sweeping the floors when she heard customers entering. Open on the counter was the book she had picked up for free from Quality Quidditch Supplies - Witchery Washings. It was really life changing, giving Lou such instant and intense motivation to clean everything. Broom still in hand, she swept any of the detritus that had entered the pub with them, sweeping it out of the door. Quote:

Victoria had come in for a quick bite of food. She needed something to hold her over until that evening. She was supposed to go on a date but didn’t want to eat a whole lot and make it to where she wouldn’t eat later. She walked in and noticed Lou. She gave a small wave seeing her handle some customers. Instead of bothering her at that very moment she chose to just lean on the bar and wait. But there was a book... open no less. That made Victoria curious. She scooted closer to the book and looked it over shrugging her shoulders and closing the book she read the title, Witchery Washings she hummed under her breath opening the book back up and ready to read some of it until Lou could get back over to her. |
