Bakery Box & Ice Cream Bar: Order Here! Image Credit: Ameh Through the years since it first opened its doors, Florean Fortescues Ice Cream Parlor has gone through many changes. It has been updated for the times more often than memory can provide reference for; those who have visited previously will be quick to notice the newest update, which arrives along with the newest owner. The counter showcasing the many ice cream flavours offered has been shifted further to the left than before, and a large glass case has been installed between it and the till. The colourful trail of delicious (and sometimes vaguely terrifying) ice creams leads to a case brimming with baked confections, all ready to be picked and served with your favourite complementary (or not so complementary) flavour of ice cream. |
If Jonas Loftbottom was being completely honest, he was just as excited to be here as the small, dark haired five year old attached to his hand was. Although, his excitement was a mixture of A) seeing the new place and all the changes that had been made, and B) ICE CREAM! He paused, taking in the new look and layout of the place. The young girl was futilely trying to drag her father to the ice cream bar, and was seemingly being ignored for her efforts. Only the slight smirk upon Jonas' face betrayed him. "Daddy!" "Alright, alright." He let himself be dragged over to the bar. The little girl hugged her stuffed Hippogriff to her chest, suddenly feeling a bit shy as they approached. Jonas rang the bell for service. |

He didn't trust spells to put those together, and so the bell on the counter and on the door was a necessary evil. If the first didn't catch his attention... well, the second was enchanted to fill the kitchen with its sound, so he would know there was a customer waiting. The only unfortunate thing was how often he was covered in flour or had chocolate powder or coconut cream smeared on his arms or face. Today there was a light dusting of cocoa on one of his cheeks, the byproduct of his being in the process of making some nice, warm, delicious brownies the moment the bell had gone off. He emerged from the kitchen with a towel in his hands, wiping them hastily and brushing a bit of flour off his front as he stepped up to the ice cream case. The little one caught his attention immediately, and he tossed her a grin before looking at the man. Father? Most likely, right? "Welcome to Florean Fortescues. What can I get for you today?" |
Jonas greeted the new shop owner with a warm smile. "Thank you. I like what you've done with the place. It's so The little girl nodded and then pointed at one of the buckets of ice cream on the other side of the glass. "That one, please, Daddy." Jonas glanced over at her selection and bit his lip. "That's Jalapeno and Nacho cheese, JellyBean. I don't think you want that one." He ruffled her hair a little. "It's REAAALLLY hot." The girl nodded again. "Yes I do." Jonas blinked at this daughter and then shrugged. "Okay." He stood up and faced the owner. "One Jalapeno and Nacho cheese," he said. All the while he was discreetly pointing instead at the Cookies and Cauldrons tub, and gave the store owner a wink. "And one Treacle Fudge, please." |

He gave the man a grin then, at his compliments, and would have spoken his thanks were it not for the tiny human's adorable interruption. Awwww. How precious. Zeph himself rather liked to pair that ice cream with fried tortillas, because it complemented so well. Usually the younger crowd wasn't all that fond of it though, so it was a good thing her father made some executive decisions. "Cones? Bowls?" he asked, reaching for an ice cream scooper and absently flicking his wand at it to make sure it was nice and clean. Didn't want any troll bogey sneaking into her ice cream and scaring her off from the shop forever. "We've got cake bowls that pair rather well with the... er... nacho cheese and jalapeno." That was an upcharge, but surely they knew that. |
Henry quickly approached the counter. "ice... cream!" People sometimes thought Henry was an odd one, but he was a twin, and so he tried to do his best to be the best brother ever... but he could tell there was something on his father's mind. He could not explain why they would just leave Ollivander's. Of course there was a long line, but of course, his mother and sister were waiting for their wands. He recieved his Hogwarts acceptance letter, so what was the hold up? Being raised in the muggle world his entire life he knew nothing about what his father was about to tell him. "Dad, haha, what's wrong?" Dickson didn't know what to do. He could sit him down and just tell him the truth, but the dissapointment clouding his face was something he'd seen so many times before. When they didn't go to Disneyland Paris when they took a trip to France and when he failed to reason with Henry about Santa, and when his sister had produced some magical fungus under his bed as a prank and he couldn't get it to go away. "Son, just order your ice cream. We need to talk." Henry looked at his father with disdain. He could tell he was about to receive bad news."Alright, Mr. Abrams, I'm having a weird day. How's yours? Could I get two scoops of Butterbeer in a mini pie crust bowl? Also, do you make it with rootbeer or cream soda?" Henry waited patiently for his answer and his order. Mr. White was happy because they were in the right place at the right time. "Zephyr, do you remember me? I'm that squib who always visiting your bakery on our trip to France...? Your food is always so good! Anyways I'll be paying for my son's food as well, and I will have one scoop of Pumpkin Juice ice cream that pie crust bowl. How much is all of that by the way, we haven't really made it to Gringotts because my wife is still getting her wand with my daughter." |

The ice cream man was still smiling though, happy to have all this business. After all... summer was the busiest and most lucrative part of the year for businesses like his. So he really couldn't complain... not that he would have. "My day has been good so far and just keeps getting better," he responded, grinning at the kid. "Hope your day's been weird in a good way... do you mean like a float? I can do floats. Costs 7 sickles, if you'd prefer it that way instead of in the pie crust bowl?" The father... recognised him? Zephyr looked at the man in surprise, blinking at him. His face looked somewhat familiar, but... he hadn't much worked the counter at the French shop, because of his absolutely terrible French, so he didn't know too many of the customers very well. He gave the man a smile anyway though, and nodded lightly. "I can't say I remember you much, but you do look familiar! I'm glad you seem to have a knack for finding my shops." He looked up at his menu board, absently adding together the things that had been ordered. "Sixteen sickles, unless your son wants a float instead of the pie crust bowl." He set about scooping the single scoop of pumpkin juice ice cream, leaving the son's so he could make his decision. |
It was finally summer again, and soon all the students from Hogwarts would be vising the busy little alley. This year Isley wasn't nearly as nervous. She had a year of owning Florean's under her belt and was excited to see all the new and old customers. Isley made a through check to make sure everything was clean and tidy before flipping the closed sign to open, and unlocking the front door. Let the scooping begin! |
Daisy entered the ice cream parlour holding the hand of her mother. They were both in need of some cool refreshing ice-cream. The choices were amazing and endless. "Mummy, can I choose one of these?" Daisy asked as she pointed to the wizarding flavours. "Sure but nothing too crazy," Jemma replied as she rang the bell for service. |

"Hello, there," she said smiling at the pair, "How may I serve you today?" She waited to take their orders. Hopefully they enjoyed her ice cream as much as she did. |

"Can I please have a scoop of chocolate frog, please?" Daisy asked. |

She quickly turned and grabbed two paper bowls. She first scooped out a rather large scoop of Butterbeer, placing it to the side, and then scooped out an equally as large scoop of Chocolate Frog. She placed a spoon in the center of each scoop, and placed them on the counter. "Here you are! That will be 8 sickles please!" She said with a smile. She loved her little shop so much! It was always a pleasure to serve her customers! |

"Daisy, see if you can find a booth." Jemma said as she picked up the two bowls and followed her daughter. "I found one, mummy!" Daisy informed Jemma, pointing to a vacant booth. |

Maybe she would even be a chef like her momma. The thought made her smile, as she cleaned up the scoopers. One day....one day. |
Rowan Robins walked into Fortescue's and stood just inside the door appreciating the changes. He stepped up to the the counter. He smiled at the proprietor who was washing scoops. "When you get a chance I'm ready to order" |

The man looked up from his place behind the counter when he heard the bells at the entrance. He gave the other man a smile and nodded. "Welcome to Florean Fortescue's. What would you like to order?" |

He extended the ice cream to the man. "Here you go! That will be thirteen sickles." He said, glancing at the menu board. |

It was a good day to have ice cream outdoors, he thought, as he resumed his work. |
PV set to come ^^ Astrea was here to meet Sam for a nice, casual date. ICE CREAM. She would never had said no to ice cream, but ASTREA had asked Sam on this date this time. It was super empowering and nice. She wanted to pay and all that jazz. Shuffling with her pockets in her leather jacket (given to her by her mother a year ago for a birthday which she hadn't had a chance to wear yet), she found her pouch of wizard money. Now, waiting for the girlfriend commenced. "Saaammmy Sammy, where art thooouuu?" she asked, to no one in particular and more to herself than anything. MHMMM. For now, she busied herself with looking at the menu and wondering what she even wanted. Or felt like getting. She hoped Sam wouldn't pop up behind her and heard her say SAMMY because she knew Sam didn't like being called Sammy. Astrea more said it in her head. Never aloud. Hmmm. "Am I feeling adventurous or......sweet?" she wondered aloud. |
Crowds. Sam cursed them. They were a pain when she lived here, easy for pickpocketing but never reaching her gaze as if she'd been invisible; now, just in her way as she fought down Diagon Alley from the fireplace at the Leaky to probably her favourite place on the street. Florean's. Ast hadn't really needed to ask Sam out specially for icecream; it was sure to be an automatic yes regardless of time or occasion. But she had, and that gave Sam a warm fuzzy feeling inside. So she'd made an effort with her outfit, without really dressing up. Ripped denim shorts, a loose lacy off the shoulder white top, sneakers, and her new favourite black wide-brimmed hat. Cute. She felt cute. "How about some of both?" she answered her girlfriend's thought aloud, as she quietly arrived behind her, wrapping her arms round her waist. |

"Okay..well...do you have actual suggestions for me, then?" Because she was eyeing the menu and....nothing. She had no ideas! HELP SAMMY. "You made it here okay, though? Did you come alone? IS your brother here?" because she still wanted to get to know her brother a little better. Even if he was........hmm, how to put it...he wasn't normal, but it wasn't a bad thing. Just...Astrea didn't get the vibe the boy liked her. Too soon to tell? Probably. Vanilla was out. Strawberry was out. Hmm. Was she in the mood for spicy food? |
Sam & Astrea <3 Isley had just finished with another customer when she noticed the two young ladies at the counter. She quickly cleaned off the scoops, and moved back down towards them. "Hello ladies! What can I get for you two today?" They were definitely Hogwarts students she had seen in the shop many times since she had taken over. She always enjoyed seeing repeat customers. It meant she had to be doing something right! |

"D'pends how adventurous yeh feelin', I s'pose. 'ow 'bout we get a few flavours, some favourites, some new, and share?" That way they couldn't be too disappointed if the adventurous ones turned out gross, because they'd have their favourite ones to fall back on. Genius! At the questions, she nodded. "Yeah, flooed to the Leaky. And no, Robin didn't come with. Think he said something about 'avin' a friend over, but mainly I think he didn't wanna come face the summer crowds." He wasn't the most comfortable around lots of people, that was for sure. Maybe she could bring him in for shopping trip later on in the holidays, especially if it involved Flourish and Blotts. Quote:
