Dorian nodded as Evander addresed his almost-hypothetical question. Finishing off his espresso, he returned his full ateention to the proceedings. "That's very true. Stagnation never brings about anything good, and we're certainly walking a thin line between success and utter disaster," he commented. That almost went back to his earlier discussion with Damien about how they'd been able to leave temporarily. Even though he had good reason for his trip to Italy, and now he could concentrate more on his job. The recent events here were definitely something that raised alarms.
He was curious what the checks would entail, although he was confident enough in his abilities to feel he'd pass them without too much trouble. He raised an eyebrow, though, as Evander spoke about them being short-staffed. And a moratorium on placing people in the dvision head positions. Seemed they'd all just be answering to him, department-wise. In fact, he wasn't even sure there was anyone else that was part of his division even still around. That was kind of disconcerting. "Is experience simply going to be measured by our work in department?," he asked idly. "I'm willing to do whatever you give me, it's just one of those details. And that seems to be the best plan." Them as their own team within the whole of the Ministry, watching out for each other and everyone inside the security checks. He'd been vigilant for so long already, it wasn't exactly hard to slip back into that mode.

Dacs wrote and nodded as Evander spoke. When he spoke of the security checks, her eyebrow shot up. "Oh." She knew things were bad but not this bad.'Well, bring it on.'she thought to herself.
She looked up at Evander when he began talking about the new Law Enforcement order. It was true that she was the only division head left and Evander made perfect sense. One Task force, one team.
"You're right. We can't just assume anything. I think the ministry needs change. Stagnation is never good, its just that, in my opinion, an inexperienced administration is... ripe for the picking." Evander told Dorian. "I think a lot of the internal happenings have changed things, and not for the better."
He glanced at Prometheus and then when the younger man spoke he shook his head.
"Can you blame her?" Really. Could you blame the minister, "she's young and relatively inexperienced and it can't be easy to suddenly step into a position of power, over a ministry as disorganised and insular as ours has become. Actually almost every other Magical Ministry in the entire world employs advisers, liasion officers, and those who are employed for public relations purposes. We do not and have not for many years. I'm bloody concerned now, how cut off we are from the general wizarding public." It didn't look good.
Looking at Alysson next, that was a much easier to answer question. "Security checks are actually necessary and, in my opinion, a long time coming. Its not so much our problem, not with Ministry Security part of a seperate department but... have you any idea how many security breaches there have been? Individuals breaking in, causing havoc and disrupting ministry operations. How can anyone take it seriously if its so easy to waltz on in and... well the last one to cause havoc on level three, was claiming to be the next dark lord for example."
Something the man, Martel, had said was true to Evander. "Best to go through these checks, pass them and then stand strong and confident knowing that its not our department causing all the security issues. Maybe at the least, It'd be a comfort to the public, because you can bet it will get it out, comforting to know that we're answerable." It was a grudging admission there. Not because he didn't believe it, but because of who had said it in the first place. He had no desire to agree with D'Isigny on anything. Or Gevrik for that matter, but Van had been aware of the need for a long time now.
He was aware, peripherally, of Damien's feral grin at the mention of training and Evander couldn't help but grin himself. He was also aware when the man immediately turned on the charm towards the new woman, Laurie. That was so normal that Van didn't bother paying much more attention than that. The man supposedly attacked by pirates? Total rogue. And Evander's best friend, as it turned out.
He looked at Laurie and nodded once. "From what I saw you checked out, Laurie, but you'll be just as subject to the checks as anyone else." It was the way of things.
"Its not something to take personally. These checks, these changes, the new leadership." He added. "Its just something to be prepared for, be vigilant over." He rubbed at his brow and sipped his coffee. Cold.
Ehh. Evander paused to use a heating charm on it. Once that was done he downed it in one.
"Now, theres something else. I guess its obvious that we're short staffed." Which was why Evander had got himself stuck with paperwork for quite the while. "And whether its because of injury, or people quitting, taking leave, or even in a few cases, death, is irrelevant. We've got to pull together now. I've had word that I can't promote or hire anyone officially for the remaining division head positions." He nodded at Dacs. She, young thing, but fiesty, was the only one. Ben's experience would be useful but Evander had his hands tied and couldn't do a thing. Well. Not that anyway.
"There aren't enough workers on active duty, and I can't pull anyone who is assigned to patrol. The whole country is important, and I'd hate us to be blindsided elsewhere because we've concentrated efforts on Diagon Alley and London in general." That. That would suck.
"So we're going to form a temporary special force. I managed to speak to the Minister alone and she's given us leave to do so." Though... she seemed a little absent-minded, which was odd and a puzzle for another day.
"Those of you who are more experienced with the capture of criminals will be Enforcers, those of you trained for investigative and interrogation purposes will be Surveyors, and you will be a team. We'll all be a team." And Evander Bole would be right out there with them. "We'll cooperate with the internal investigations but we'll also keep our own eyes and ears open."
Phew. Probably there'd be questions. He looked around, giving them all time to digest.
"Oh, I totally agree with you." Alysson replied with a short nod of her head to emphasize her opinion. "Security checks ARE necessary. Just, I think, not among us, but rather about new hires." At this her hazel eyes flickered towards the new girl - Laurie was it? - and with a smile she hastened to add, "Not talking about you, of course, but just, you know." But it seemed that it had been decided anyhow so what was the point in arguing? "Well, I guess we won't have problems with the Security Checks anyhow." They were all going to clear out. So, no need to worry.
Alysson took another sip of her tea, listening carefully to Evander's plans about a special task force in their department. Interesting..."Well, I'd rather like to go with the Surveyors if that's okay." What with her height and all, she wasn't really one to ninja-tackle criminals to the ground. "But...we're not directly involved with those Security checks you talked about? Those are only performed by that Gervik-person right?" She wasn't exactly sure with which 'internal investigations' they were going to cooperate.
Laurie listened as the conversation went around the room. Looking back at Evander she nodded, "I understand, sir. Makes logical sense." Why did he seem the need to reassure her it wasn't anything against her. She'd known that in fact she had figured one had been done before she was hired...guess she was wrong. Placing her hands behind her casually she looked around at all the people. Was this all? If it was no wonder it was short staffed here.
Emery stood there for what felt like hours, yet he knew it to only be about 10 seconds. Ah, meeting a new boss always made him nervous despite his usual nonchalant attitude. So, upon hearing a man's voice come from the inside, telling him to enter, Emery reached towards the shinny doorknob, and twisted it until he heard that familiar CLICK! sound telling him, it was time to push the door forward and enter the rather crowded office.
He quickly ducked inside the office, hoping to not interrupt anything, seeing as he seemed to be the last one to arrive. With a small nod of his head towards each person in the room, and seeing a rather familiar looking person, Em started towards the wall, and leaned up against it, hoping to not cause too much of a disturbance. But he was here now, yes? Time to listen to the boss man. The 26 year old stood there quietly, listening to the boss speak his mind about everything going on at the ministry. He didn't feel the need to pipe in or speak his mind about all of this because well, it wasn't exactly his place. Although, he did agree with just about everything the man had said. Emery also turned his ears towards the other members of his office as they threw in their own input, and still did not feel the need to utter a sound.

Damien's smile broadened as Van spoke of lovely things such as Enforcers and the like. Oh man this was going to be epic. He was eager to get out there and get his hands dirty. If things were as wonky as they seemed they had their work cut out for them. Indeed.
"I am more than willing to help in anyway you need, Evander. Healer's say I'm back at about 85 percent and getting stronger every day. I will be perfect again in a few days," he said with a grin. Yeah. Cause he was perfect anyway. Heh.
"I'd have guessed at least 87 percent." Evander answered, quite deadpan. "Pirate attacks just ain't what they used to be, I guess." If only it was just pirates. Pirates would be simple. Not that he expected a pirate ship to just appear in the ministry and start trying to board their department or something, but if it did, well surely Damien's experience in the matter would be helpful. His lip twitched slightly in amusement.
"I know I can count on you."

"I for sure get just a little antsy when things are... stagnant." And anyone who'd been around would know that he'd been antsy for a while. It didn't help that he'd ended up having to do so much paperwork either. Sure it was a chance to catch up on things, get things organised (and now that he was in charge, he was glad he'd done that since it was one less thing to worry about), but really, no crime to investigate? Evander knew better, but he hadn't been able to just give himself assignments, and wasn't the type to go looking for trouble if he could help it.
Enough of it came directly to him after all.
"Experience is measured by training, field work, specific division experience, then departmental experience, and finally industry experience as a whole." And not just the British Ministry either considering there were three Americans right here who Evander'd happily rely on, and a few had worked for private organisations that provided plenty of experience and training that was on par, if not above that of the current Law Enforcement standards.
"We've all got different backgrounds. Thats something we can take advantage of. Get each other all learned up and maybe different lines of thinking are exactly what we need right now."

"Oh is right. Its getting serious around these parts." And it was necessary. Sooner MLE got cleared the better.

Evander's lip curved into a slight smile.
"When I was undercover, on one of my jobs, it was two years before I made a move. No security checks then either." So really, anyone could be a part of something bigger. Anyone could be a 'security risk', new or established. "I hope we don't." And hopefully problems wouldn't arise in their department. You never knew who was susceptible to brainwashing.
Brainwashing.
He reminded himself to get their risk levels all checked out for that too.
"I was thinking Surveyor'd be right for you, Al." Evander agreed. "And... I'm not entirely sure. I'm... considering volunteering our services, make sure its all above board and all. But no matter what happens, I'm fairly sure Gevrik, and whoever he convinces to work on his behalf," And the man was convincing, "Will have an agenda of his own."

"Good." Evander acknowledged. Nothing much else to say but he did notice that Laurie was paying plenty of attention, apparently absorbing and filing it all away. "Sorry you've found yourself here with all this going on." He smiled slightly, almost grudgingly. It was hard to split his mind from the situation at hand, but he meant it anyway.

He nodded at Emery, mind briefly going over what he knew of the man, and then he moved on.
"Laurie, Alysson, Benjamin and Prometheus, I'd like you four to act as Surveyors, Damien, Dorian, Dacs and Emery; Enforcers." He glanced around.
"This is a need to know assignment. Gevrik does NOT need to know. How are you all at guarding your thoughts? I've sourced a few tools to make things a little easier, a certain experimental potion which makes the thoughts somewhat cloudy to an intruder. The side effects are numerous... you might feel a little peaky, adrenaline flows hard, you'll be thirsty a lot. Don't take that one too often, only when you find yourself in a situation where its strictly necessary."
One or two of them, might get a slight rash too. But that was neither here nor there and it was harmless, if a little itchy. The vials he placed on the table were tiny. Easy to slip up a sleeve and keep concealed. "Theres three doses in each vial, that'll last you about 6 hours apiece. Mix it with any beverage you fancy, but apparently it reacts badly to grapefruit." No grapefruit.
Thats what would cause the rash.
"On the table there you might have noticed more than just a few dark detectors and magical surveillance equipment. Different kinds. Feel free to take your pick, stock up if you're running low. They all work perfectly. You can get others at Wiseacres if theres something specific you're after. I have an account." Evander was ridiculous about such things. He had so many and while he didn't quite rely on them, he did make use of them and expected others to take advantage of the tools they had at hand.
"You should each carry basic medical supplies on you at all times. You'll need to source such things yourself." Potions and the like. Slug and Jiggers would get a bit of business.
Though naturally Evander preferred the Gleaming Gytrash.
"If any of you want to apply for a license for a second wand, let me know and I'll arrange it."
He cleared his throat.
"I'd like your input as a team, would you prefer to be partnered Enforcer to Surveyor? or Enforcer to Enforcer and Surveyor to Surveyor?"

Damien narrowed his eyes at Van at the mention of pirate attacks. Oh wow... he was SO not going to let him get away with it. He made a mental note to be sure to try to embarass him in public sometime VERY soon. Yep.
Heh. Enforcer it was. How lovely indeed. Hmmm now to size up the lot of them. Maaaan. "Well would it be more... for lack of a better term... efficient to have a Surveyor and an Enforcer teamed up. That way everyone has eyes and a bit of muscle. And if you say one more word about pirates I will throttle you" he said the last in a mutter and gave a pleasant smile.
When Van asked about guarding thoughts Damien just gave a look. Was it not customary for Aurors to be trained in Occlumency around the British Ministry? Meh. He hadn't used it in some time but he was sure he could pick the habit back up. He made no comment. He did however perk up a bit at the idea of being licensed for a second wand. That was interesting. "Yeah... I think Ima need a license for a second wand," he stated simply and gave a decided nod.
Laurie nodded at Evander simply and kept he distance from everyone else. Hearing her assignment she was relieved. For a second there she thought she was going to have to...apprehend people *gulp*. Hearing the flirty man's question she pursed her lips but kept her mouth shut. It wouldn't have to do anything with her being in that list or another girl would it? Nooooooo....she thought sarcastically and stood up straight keeping her hands to her sides. Keeping her eyes on Evander she didn't bother looking at flirty man. If he tried anything he would be sadly disappointed and probably in pain...it depended on her mood. Keeping her impatience to herself she let her mind wander as to what she needed to do while she kept her ears trained on the discussion a habit she learned working boring, open and shut cases.
Gone all day tomorrow, but I'll catch up. :) If a lot happens.

Dorian nodded again, as Evander spoke about how he got when things got stagnant. Personally, he agreed, but then he had simply learned that the calm never meant anything good. Things had been so simple before the original incident with Gabriel, and then afterward it had simply been a living nightmare. It was tough, and he was just hoping he coudl access the good aspects of what that whole experience had given him without bringing back the insomnia. Espresso could only do so much, and he had a feeling he'd need all of his faculties to navigate whatever seemed to be going on within the Ministry now. He just had to hope it didn't filter outward too much, but then that would be their job. MLES, of course, and that was where they were. "Of course," he said simply, to the description of how they were defining experience, and how they'd all augment each other. Teamwork at its peak.
His grey eyes went to Evander as the assignments were made, then he nodded curtly. That had been somewhat what he'd meant by his earlier comments, but that hadn't meant it would have been the decision. What with the extreme slowness of his division before now. But he'd done rather well in that Ministry-wide activity, so that could have been factored in. Not to mention he imagined if Evander had seen Laurie's file, he'd likely seen his. "I can't say I've had to utilize it the past year or so, but I've had a bit of experience in guarding my thoughts," he said almost nonchalantly, practiced in hiding the truth. At least when it had come to himself. That had probably been the most he'd said about his past in a group like this ever. Hard to break that, but if they were working as a team . . . back to the situation at hand. It definitely seemed like this Gevrik guy was a possible Legilimens, though. Fun. As backup, he leaned forward and palmed one of the small vials. He'd decide on the equipment once he could examine them a little better, not that he didn't trust the new DH. Medical supplies were fairly simple for him to get, not to mention he had Lorelai. And the idea of a second wand stayed in the back of his mind, although he'd rather it not be necessary.
"Might just be my opinion, but I'd suggest Enforcer to Surveyor pairings. Covering all our bases. I mean, we're working as a team all together as well, but that way those of us who are Enforcers can be there if the others have issues. And vice versa, possibly," he said, still almost eerily calm. Defense mechanism. Seemed the new girl, Laurie, was already distrustful of Damien, though. Interesting.

Dude. The Pensevies aint got nothing on you. Aslan is the God
Ramona took two steps forward from her desk, she'd overheard there was a meeting in the new depo heads office, she knocked on the door before opening it and peering around the corner, excuse me she said, but I heard there was some sort of meeting with the new department head? And if she was wrong...
She was looking for someone?
....
A mistake?
Ah well, if she was wrong she would find her way out again. She always did

Dacs sat back in her chair and said,"Well,it's an excellent tactical move to pair surveyor with Enforcer. You get more covered and you're more effective that way."It was troubling that they had to resort to guarding their own thought. Dacs thought of her little black book which she wrote almost everything in. That would have to be guarded too if this was the situation.
She waved her wand, commanding one of the small vials toward her open hand. Examining it a thought occurred to her, "I don't like the sound of this guy, Evander. I don't like any of this. Defenses around the office, I think should be put in place, because my feeling is that they will be here when we're not. And I will be needing a second wand license."
'If it sounds like a snake and acts like a snake, then it is a snake. I don't like snakes.'Dacs thought, her eyes suddenly turning to a cold brown.

Hehe.
At least there was SOMETHING amusing in all of this.
"Efficiency is something I'm a fan of." Damien knew that. Heh. Evander's expression did not change and he returned the pleasant smile, ,though his was more of a smirk around the edges. It was fun teasing his friend.
He didn't miss Damien's look either and offered a wry smile in return, quite sure they'd end up talking in more detail about such things later.
"I'll get that license for you by the end of the day. You'll need to go to Ollivanders to purchase your second wand, we've got an account there."

Quiet, was Laurie. The way she held her jaw though, indicated to Evander that she wasn't quite so sweet as she appeared on the surface.
He did like it when people could keep their mouths shut though. And she was listening, and that didn't escape his notice either. Precious little did when you were as paranoid as Evander was right now.

The past year or so? Evander snorted. Yes because apparently there hadn't been anything going on out in the big wide world that would require such skills to be used regularly. The question in Van's mind was who was pulling the wool over the eyes of the entire Ministry? Perhaps even the entire Wizarding World?
"Good to hear it." He nodded as the man took a vial. Thats what they were there for.
He nodded at Dorian's agreement with his own, undisclosed opinion.

Ah well, if she was wrong she would find her way out again. She always did
"That'd be me. Evander Bole." He'd seen her around the office though they'd been different divisions. And of course Van made it his business to put names and faces together.
....
"Ramona Marqueen? Come in. We're nearly done but I'm sure someone will get you up to speed." Perhaps once they all left to secure certain areas, Alysson and Emery would do that. He gestured at one of the available seats.

"So we're agreed. Enforcer to Surveyor pairings." Evander nodded once. It had been his intention all along and yet it was important to get feedback, involvement, whatever.
As she took one of the vials he nodded again, grimly. "Yes. My office has been secured already." It wouldn't keep Ikenna Gevrik out but it'd... alert Van to any tampering. "We need to secure the main work areas, level ten and I'd like to send a couple of you to help out on the remainder of level two." Because education flunkies weren't likely to make things safe enough for Evander's standards, or likely those of any of his new staff.
"Damien and Laurie, Dorian and Prometheus, Emery with Alysson and Ben with Dacs. Thats right, you've got yourself partners. Surveyor to Enforcer." He turned his attention to Ramona, "Until we get a few more hands available, I'll work with you. You'll be a Surveyor, though I'll have you work with another pair right now." He still had things to do after all.
He cleared his throat.
"Firstly, though I'm sure I don't need to, I will clarify here and now what I mean by Surveyor and Enforcer so that there is no excuse for misunderstanding later." Because excuses were laaaaame and not something Evander'd accept.
"Enforcers are those of you with Auror or Hitwizard training. If you've been working in Auror HQ, MLES or Counterfeit Magic and Equipment Control, you'll be an Enforcer. That'll go for anyone else too. You're the muscle, you're the firepower, you're the ones I expect to bring in the troublemakers. Your training, or at least that which you should have undergone, should mean that your skills with stealth and tracking, concealment and disguise, and of course, offensive battle skill will put you in a position to take action where needed." He went quiet and looked around, meeting the eyes of those who fit that description.
"Surveyors are those of you who know how to look deeper. The ones who can follow the leads, investigate, understand and build a case where required. Look for patterns. Talk to people. Find things out and work with your partner to get things done. Your understanding of the law, and of the criminal mindset, will be particularly useful." Both were really important roles in Evander's eyes.
"While you have partners, we are a team and should work together where possible. Above all else, you are still what you were hired as, be it Auror, Wizengamot defender, MLES... And this, this special force, it is not common knowledge. Need to know only." So no discussing it over coffee in the break room.
"For starters we need to finish securing our level, and level ten." So, right away they had mini assignments. Important though. "Emery and Alysson if you two and Ramona would secure the conference room and work areas here in our department. Ben and Dacs, if you two could go to see Tatelyn Beauchamp, she's the head of Education right here on level two, and offer your services securing that department if she requires it. Damien and Laurie, if you'll take care of the corridor and public areas of level two. And Dorian and Prometheus, if you two wouldn't mind heading to level ten and securing things there."
He let them disgest all that.
"By securing I of course mean being sure there is no spying equipment or charms hidden anywhere, and establishing your own. Especially charms and wards that will alert us to unauthorized intruders. Take whatever equipment you need," He indicated the detectors on the table, "But naturally your own wand will be the most effective tool." Assuming they were all able to manage a few simple (or hopefully not so simple) detection and warding spells. "By the end of the day, please, people."
And they were done.
"Before you go, take a vial and any detectors you need, and anyone else requiring a license to carry a second wand, please let me know now so that I can get that for you by the end of the day."
ooc: have fun RPing in those areas, securing them, checking them, RPing amongst yourselves. Feel free to get distracted or whatever along the way. Laurie had to run the sentence she'd just heard again in her head just to make sure she'd heard it right. She just got partnered with someone. So much for taking her time and seeing how she liked the place. Keeping her opinion to herself she just stood there and nodded. So be it. Hopefully whoever Damien was he was good at his job and left her alone.
Damien smirked at Van and nodded his head. "I'll swing back by your office after we secure the premises then," he said and his tone implied that he wanted to talk about other things as well.
Damien couldn't help but give another feral grin at the thought of finally getting to track and use his wide aray of skills at long last. Roughing up a few suspicious characters didn't seem like too bad an idea either. Oh this was going to be lovely. Lovely indeed.
Then he announced the pairings and Damien gave a triumphant smile and turned to look at the lady. Laurie was her name. Well well welll. Interesting. He rose from his seat and went to the table where he grabbed up a couple of sneakascopes, a foe glass, and a container that he knew to hold a potion that was something similar to a tear gas substance before he palmed a phial of the potion that Van had laid out earlier. Giving Van a look he said, "Talk with you later, chief."
Making his way toward the back of the room where Laurie stood he gave her a smile and said, "Damien Jackson. Looks like we'll be working together. Grab whatever you think you need from the table and I will be in the corridor." Yeah so his typical charm was gone for the moment but he was in work mode. The charm would come back once they got some stuff done. Heh. With that he went out into the corridor to wait.

Laurie was about to go get some stuff from the table when the flirty guy walked up. Oh brother. Then he introduced himself and her eyes widened. What? No? She this was so not happening. And then just as fast as he'd arrived he left and she was left staring after him.
Gathering her wits about her she went up to the table and grabbed one of everything and then walked up to Evander, "Sir, I'm not sure that it's the best thing for me to be given such an important task right away," she said as she tried to make her argument.

"Alright." Evander grinned at Damien as the man left. Heh.
He shook his head and then looked up at Laurie, expression cooling.
"Not up to scratch, Laurie? Your file here shows you're more than capable of this simple thing. If you don't feel you're capable of course, well, the way out of here is a fair distance away, but you're more than welcome to resign." Van mused on it, expression challenging her.
"My first impression of you was that you were professional and capable. Was I wrong?"
Pause.
"Besides, your freshness to the ministry, shall we say, is pretty much the reason I put you with Damien. He's..." Practically an old fogie compared to the youngsters they had around here, "...experienced. Your skills really should compliment each other." Evander, despite looking on occasion like a Neanderthal, really did think things through.
Also, he'd noticed the looks and thought it'd be funny. Hah.
His expression did not betray that thought at all.

Laurie was not amused in the least at Evander's tactic. To question her own capability was unthinkable. Eying him carefully she simply shook her head, "No sir, you are not wrong." With that she turned and headed out the office door in search of that...flirty Damien boy.
Moving on. (And I'll try to see what I can get done, with work the next couple days)

Dorian stayed silent as the discussion continued, even as Evander had addressed his previous comments. Something made him think his confession he hadn't been using his minor Occlumency skills lately hadn't exactly been taken very well. But then, the main person he'd been blocking his thoughts from was in prison in Italy. For hopefully a good time longer, as that had been the agreement agreed upon when he'd gone to visit Italy recently. He had faith he'd be able to tap into it again, as it seemed he'd mostly have to concentrate on the new people from the meeting in the Minister's office. Especially the Gevrik guy. And then Evander was talking about their special titles, definitions and such, and he stayed quiet simply because it made sense, although he'd nodded slightly as his own pairing was mentioned. His division certainly did deal more with the physical aspects of things, even if he wasn't an Auror, Hitwizard, or the like. He'd already started thinking about the charms and such he could cast for protection. Even over just his own personal effects, and possibly his flat. It seemed he was slipping into old paranoias rather too easily.
Then it seemed they were being released to their individual assignments, and he stood up, preparing to head out. "I think maybe a license for a second wand might come in useful," he said thoughtfully. At least, then possibly he coudl protect his own personal wand a bit more, use the second wand for a lot of the things that might happen now. Heading over to the table, he picked up a few sneakoscopes, as well as several other of the detectors, before heading for the door with the slightest incline of his head. Both to Evander and Prometheus, to indicate he was heading out to level ten. After a quick stop off at his desk, to retrieve a couple decoy detonators he'd had in a drawer. Never knew when they might need a distraction, depending on what they found on the other level.

Dacs nodded at Evander as he spoke and when he said Ben was going to be her partner, she glanced over at Ben then back at Evander, biting her tongue. She had to be professional besides she could handle it. 'Swallow your pride and get over it.'she scolded her inner self.
It was time to get to work. She rose from her chair and said to Evander,"I will be needing a second wand license."She looked at Ben one more time and left Evander's office with a three vials in her pocket. She had some equipment she had just gotten in her bag pack.

No questions so far? Van glanced around at the others, not impatiently but expectantly. He'd answer questions if anyone had any, but if they didn't he expected them to head off to work now. They were good and he was pleased at how quickly they were all responding and accepting the gravity of the situation. He pulled out a sheet of parchment and quill and jotted down the names of those who requested a license for a second wand. He'd get on to that as soon as everyone had headed off on their assignments.
He had plenty more to do before Gevrik headed this way too.

Harley slipped into the office quietly, unsure of where she was going to go or what she was going to do. She had been working for a bit here at the Ministry as a Hit Witch, but hadn't really recieved any instruction as to what she was supposed to do. As of the past few months, she had been working as a lackey, and running around filling out paperwork and reading in the ministry library about the law and criminal justice system. She hoped someone could assist her in someway and tell her what to do, so she figured she should go to the department head. She waited patiently for the department head to finish the tasks he had, and when he had a moment, she quietly asked, "Sir? Is there anything I can do? I am not really sure what I am supposed to be doing...?" She broke off, uncertain as to what to say next.

"Harley." Right? Yeah. He was sure of it. They hadn't spoken much but he'd seen her running about and doing whatever needed. She was probably as sick of paperwork and bureaucracy as he was.
"Of course." He stood up, unfolding himself until he stood at his full height. "Come with me to the work areas, and we'll find you a partner. I have a few jobs that need doing, some harmless investigating and field work, if you're interested?" Evander figured that those who had missed the meeting would be at work by now.

"No problem, Ramona." van watched her go and then turned back to Harley, gesturing for her to head out before him. He had to secure his office before he left after all.

Harley straightened as the department head stood, and she nooded at his words. "Yes sir," she said. "It's Harley." She nodded and followed him to the door. "Yes sir, I'm very interested." She smirked, maybe finally she'd be able to do something other than just run around fill out paperwork.
