| The Office of Evander Bole, Department Head [Cult Plot] lives in a hobbit hole || Ern and Touz's Nuzzle || roflysst || looking at a seed packet The office had been stripped, wall to wall, ceiling to floor, and before furniture had been brought in, or any decorating had occurred, a lattice of security charms has been applied around the room, crossing over, intertwining and creating an almost unimaginable net. It would be nearly impossible to overhear anything discussed in this office.
A fireplace was installed at one wall, with a few direct links which worked only after a certain password spell is uttered, the spell changing at least every week. Some of the direct floo links included, the Atrium, the security office at Gringotts Wizarding Bank, an old and barely used floo on level ten, and a certain fireplace at Hogwarts. There were a multitude of others, each activated by a certain password along with floo powder of course. It was impossible to use this floo without those passwords, or you'd simply return to your origination point.
The office, once it was reassembled to be an office, was decked out in mahogany. There were large wall to wall shelves, a large bulletin board and filing units, and a fairly big table with six chairs around it was pushed to one side. The focal point of the room was the large desk and leather chair, both more than big enough to fit one Evander Bole, his long legs and muscular frame. The desk seemed to be stacked with an ever-changing pile of paper work. In and out.
There were several portraits in the room which Evander had acquired at a cost, former Magical Law Enforcement Department Heads, Aurors, and Hit Wizards. Even a former Supreme High Mugwump. They were added security themselves, and good for advice on occassion. You were never truly alone in this room, though strangely there were small curtains around each of them, so that Evander could, if the situation called for it, ensure that the painted individuals contained in the frames, would not be able to see whatever it was Evander did not wish for them to see.
In front of the mahogany desk were three comfortable looking chairs, bringing the grand total of chairs in the room up to ten including Evander's seat behind the desk, though the room would be cramped with more than ten in it.
Not always here, Evander is often out and about, visiting with his employees when the silence in the office gets too much, or when the paperwork is just a touch too overwhelming. When he isn't present the office is usually locked, though if you know the password of the hour, you can get in.
Photographs, newspaper cuttings, maps and scraps of notes were pinned on a bulletin wall, a spare holster went in the desk draw along with some pre-paid owl postage stamps, a container of floo powder and several little boxes which contained portkeys. A few other interesting trinkets found their way into the drawers too and then they were sealed under lock and key and a coded runic combination which Evander worked into the warding and sealing spells.
His coffee mug took pride of place on his desk.
While you don't strictly have to knock before entering, you might find yourself on the wrong end of a wand if you don't.

| lives in a hobbit hole || Ern and Touz's Nuzzle || roflysst || looking at a seed packet Evander had everything set up and in its place and he arrived bright and early the next morning. Seven am. About the usual time for him. The informal meeting was due to start in a half hour so he settled back with his coffee and examined the various detectors laid out on his desk and the table. Some were so obscure looking that it wasn't immediately obvious what they were for, while others were standard dark detectors. Probity probes and sneakoscopes and the like.
He sat quietly, thinking.

| Yay, first to arrive. *grins* The Kisapaths | Sila!Roti | -2 | TouchableHair | ToiletPaperGuy | QueenOfConfusion With a steaming mug of tea in her hands, Alysson suppressed a yawn, obviously not used to getting up that early. Staying up late, yes, but getting up early was a total no-go, normally. Today was an exception, though. This was important. Apparently.
Hesitating briefly at the open door of the office, Alysson took a quick glance around the newly furbished room before finally taking a step inside. "Morning." She greeted Evander with a small smile, letting her hazel eyes scan the room once more before they came to rest on her new Department Head again.
Was she first to arrive?

Was she first to arrive? "You're a little early Al, but welcome." Evander greeted, flashing a jaded sort of smile in return. "Sit wherever you like." He took a long pull on his dark and strong coffee.
Mmm. The good stuff.

Despite the fact, they had been told that the meeting was going to be at the crack of dawn, Prometheus had still stayed up late, and he was feeling it.
Allowing one last yawn to burst it's way through his lips, Prometheus waited till it was out of his system, before stepping into the new Department head's office. Change was one of those things, that had to occur, but still it was a fact of life that Prometheus sometimes didn't like. When Warren had left, Prometheus was rather sad, they had worked so well together in the young man's first year, and now Eric was gone too, Prometheus had out lasted both of them. But he was prepared to start afresh with their new head, he was ready to move forward, a next beginning for himself on Level Two.
With his new sense of motivation, Prometheus entered the room. "Morning Bole," he nodded at the new head-hocho, "Alysson" he smiled in a much lighter tone, before taking a seat in one of the plush leather chairs.

| Jeez, I keep on getting the colors mixed up. *smacks herself* xD The Kisapaths | Sila!Roti | -2 | TouchableHair | ToiletPaperGuy | QueenOfConfusion She was...early. O_o That meant she could have stayed in bed a little longer?! Awesome...well, she was living in the moment and not dwelling on things she couldn't change anymore so whatever.
Taking a seat, she absentmindedly ran a finger across the rim of her mug and was just about to come up with a smalltalk-subject - because whenever she was bored she started to talk, about what it didn't really matter - when Prometheus entered. "Heya." Alysson greeted the man with a smile before with a small glance in Evander's direction she added, "We're early apparantly." Go them. |

| Damien strolled carelessly into Van's office and plopped himself down in a seat. He glanced around and gave them all a nod. After a moment he sighed and said, "Sup?" He figured Evander would be promoted and that made him feel a bit safer to be honest. He would never have taken a leadership role... but then again he was not a leader in the true sense of the word.
He leaned back and interlaced his fingers as he stretched his legs out. Yep. Meeting time. |

| Leaving for work, but had to post anyway. Get Dorian there. :P Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict It was so much easier dealing with everything when he actually was able to get sleep. Dorian headed to level two and toward the office that was now occupied by Evander with his usual triple espresso in hand, but for once it was more needed just to give him the jolt he was used to. He wasn't as exhausted as he'd been in the past, but something told him any energy he could get would be well utilized. Especially with how cryptic and foreboding the other man had been when he'd spoken about the meeting the day before. It was almost like he'd stepped from one storm to the next, but at least he felt more prepared this time.
Walking into the office, he took a sip of coffe before glancing around at who'd already arrived. "Morning," he said to Evander, Damien, Alysson and Prometheus. It looked like at least some of them were only half awake, and he wondered if they'd need some of his espresso. Not that he'd offer, and it seemed they already had their own coffee anyway. Making his way over to a seat, he dropped into it before turning his attention to Evander. It was going to take a bit to get used to the man as department head, but first they needed to deal with whatever was happening. The other would come in time.

Benjamin had been back for several days. And now, there was a new department head. Evander Bole. The New Yorker remembered him being huge. Not fat... but... Muscular, and tall. Threatening, actually. But, not to Ben. He had grown immune to people like that. It was weird to think that Erik was no longer department head. He had known him for a long time.
Entering the department head's office, Benjamin knocked on the door and entered. "Good morning, everyone," Benjamin entered the room adjusting his suit and tie. "Congratulations, Evander." He added a smile. His American accent rang throughout the room.

"Just a little early." And Evander was pleased about that. Better to be early and have the chance to look around and get the measure of a place and the people in it than it was to be on time and unable to take a moment to assess the environment.
Late? Much less of an option. Quote:

He glanced around and decided there was no point waiting much longer, anyone else could catch up easy enough.
He shut the door with a flick of his wand.
"I'm not sure where to begin when its hard to tell where things.... began." Evander started, his voice a low rumble.
"The meeting I was called to yesterday was... enlightening. Aside from myself there are other changes in leadership. Sion Jetza, formerly head of Accidents and Catastrophes," Evander paused to glance at Damien, managing to stop from smirking. Heh. "Is now heading Mysteries. A Charles D'Isigny has stepped into Accidents and Catastrophes. In Security and Maintenance there is... Ikenna Gevrik." He paused for a moment, clearly not pleased about something. "And Martel D'Isigny is now the adviser to the minister and... he is a direct line to her. The man formerly worked for the French Ministry in the same capacity."
Yes. Two D'Isignys.
"Gevrik, along with this adviser, are going to be... a visible presence in every department. Security checks. And the minister's eyes and ears," Which was obviously the adviser. Martel. "On every little thing."
That was to start with.
He cleared his throat. "If I suggested you did not meet the eyes of a man, what might the reason be?" Discreet. He was aiming for discreet.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Brooks Robertser Gryffindor Fifth Year | Ern's Walmart Greeter Emery Rhodes strolled down the hallways of level two. The man had heard that there was an informal meeting to be held in the office of the new department head's office. He wasn't completely sure what to expect, seeing as he was still rather new here, and barely knew one person. Actually, the 26 year old didn't know anyone. Which.. wasn't all that great seeing as he had a bunch of friends outside of work despite moving here.
Hesitantly, the man stopped at the wooden door leading into the office. Feeling out of place, and slightly uncomfortable, the Rhodey adjusted his jacket, and took a quick peek down the hallway in each direction. The Australian then, leaned toward the door, and muffled sounds could be heard from the inside. Looks like he was late to the "party". He frowned, and with slight hesitation, the man knocked hardly on the door, awaiting a reply of some sort from within.

| Damien listened to him carefully and did NOT miss the LOOK when he mentioned Sion. He was still a bit bitter about not having seen her since he was back. But that was not the issue at hand.
"So...let me get this straight. There are new hires in the Ministry that are not from within our ranks. One of which is apparently a Legilimens. That's not the kind of person you want to look in the eye," Damien spoke up. Yeah. Not cool. He shifted a bit in his seat and actually straightened up. He was all ears. He gave Van a LOOK. He got the impression that Van knew a little or a lot more about these people than he was willing to let go. |

Laurie walked down a corridor that didn't look like anything she'd seen before in her professional career. She felt out of place in her muggle clothes instead of the robes but she felt more uncomfortable with the robes that her mother had sent her. Reading the sheet of paper in her hands carefully for the millionth time she counted doors and stopped before one. I hope I'm in the right place... Hesitating for a moment she looked down at the sheet again where she had made careful notes of what the nice man in the atrium had instructed her and sighed. Now or never Laurie, you could always go work for that idiot man again... Not in his life. Lifting her hand she knocked on the door looking confident but feeling unsure on the inside as to if this was the right decision.

He nodded. "Good summary." And yeah. Yeah that was the reason.
"Look, these guys, theres more to them than what meets the eye and..." Don't go doing that, "I'm not entirely sure what that something is. It might be dangerous to know that, and its entirely possible that I'm overreacting." He warned. Always a level of jaded paranoia in Evander Bole.
"And... I'd not want you all to take the fall if he... well, lets just say Gevrik is not a fan of mine." For good reason, sure. "Don't go talking about what you know. I'm confident that you can all manage discretion." He met Damien's eyes in the way he'd not meet Ikenna's and shrugged. There was only so much he could say. Quote:

"Thats another thing." Evander nodded once. "Its... become obvious, especially now that I've had access to files that have been... well they were hidden away. Forgotten maybe." Charmed to be ignored perhaps. "The training requirements have been lax over the past several years. Not saying any of you aren't good at what you do, I know first hand from working with you but... the numbers are telling. There are less well trained MLE workers, because when they've left or been killed in action, theres not been anyone to replace them. I don't know why that is, but its left us weakened." And, unfortunately, defeatable, if anyone was so inclined.
"Its this way everywhere. The entire ministry. And... not just in Britain either. The statistics are a little bit alarming. Less people are choosing ministry careers out of school. And those that are... well so many of them have lower test scores in OWLs and NEWTs that the entry requirements for training and employment have been lowered too." Maybe it was paranoia speaking but the numbers added up. He could only hope it wasn't related but my wasn't it convenient? Quote:

Another knock.
For merlins sake.
"Come in." Evander turned his head and waited. He had more to say. Perhaps one of the very, very few new employees Erik had been allowed to hire before he'd left?

Laurie waited in the hall for her to be allowed to enter never one to just intrude on something, if there was anyone there. Just then she heard a man's voice and turned the handle. As the door opened she looked around to see quite a few people in this office. Not exactly what she wanted, she had no desire to meet everyone at once but it seemed she was going to. Looking around she spotted someone who looked to be in charge since everyone was looking toward him and cleared her throat, "Hello, I was told to come here? My name is Laurie Henderson." Her eyes scanned the room to take in the different people and she closed herself off focusing on the one she was talking to, "I am to work with the Wizengamot I believe?" Though she was told it was Magical Law Enforcement Squad as well but...she wasn't qualified to do law enforcement anything aside from question people.

Honestly Evander approved of anyone who could manage early. He grunted quietly at her introduction and then nodded. "Thats right, I read your file." And possibly she'd regret her timing as far as being hired went. Ah well, she was definitely needed and could go through the stack of files he'd been looking at himself, the ones that proved that something was amiss as far as ministry numbers and training went.
"I'm Evander Bole. Take a seat. I'm sure someone wouldn't mind bringing you up to speed?" Evander glanced around, and then at the door again, waiting for the other knocker to join them too.

| back from work, etc. At least til my next shift. *doesn't quote just out of ease* Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict Dorian responded to Evander's salute with the slightest incline of his head. Seemed his caffeine addiction was respected, at least in some quarters. It wasn't exactly worth actually saying anything, as attention went to Ben and Dacs as they'd arrived, and then Evander went into the reason for this meeting.Hmm, he thought, idly taking another pull from his coffee cup as Damien answered the question posed to them just about the same as he would have. As far as he could tell, though, Evander wasn't going into everything about these newcomers to the Ministry. They seemed suspicious, to him, whether or not one of them was a Legilimens. Just what he needed, although it seemed to go along with his thoughts that he'd gotten free of one difficulty only to have another to deal with. And he nodded at the new arrivals, as well, just out of form. Introductions could happen after the meeting, he imagined.
"Discretion. Of course," he said as they were asked to be careful around this Gevrik guy. And he assumed either of the D'Isigny's as well. "I'd be curious to know if all the internal events here at the Ministry have affected new hirees and such as well," he added. The fact there seemed to be some turnaround in Ministers, for example. It wasn't like everything had stayed out of the press, so people knew about it. Possibly that was part of the reason these questionable newcomers had shown up as well. It would be interesting to find out, and at least he knew he could handle himself. After everything else.

Smiling at Alysson, Prometheus watched as the others arrived, and once they were all present, all eyes turned to Evander.
Prometheus was shocked by what he was hearing. External parties coming into the ministry and gaining position, like Dacs had said were babysitting position, undermining all confidence held by the people of Brittian in it's own Ministry. "How were this new hirings sourced?" Prometheus asked, "And why did Minister Carlton find it all of a sudden necessary?"
It all seemed rather insulting Prometheus thought, outsourcing was never away to get employee's on side.
Listening to the next point, Prometheus could see the only possbile place where Evander was going, there was going to be some sort of employee evaluation. A way to ensure that everyone was up to scratch. Prometheus had nothing to be worried about, well at least he personally thought so.

| The Kisapaths | Sila!Roti | -2 | TouchableHair | ToiletPaperGuy | QueenOfConfusion Alysson didn't have time to strike up a conversation with any of her colleagues since it was right then, that Evander started the meeting. Well, this was bound to be interesting. There was something about her DH's facial expression that made her immediately dislike this Gervik-person, even though, she hadn't really met him yet. She just had a weird feeling about him. "Security Checks?" Alysson echoed, pulling her feet up onto her chair before taking a sip of her tea. "What are they looking for?" Something was wrong...seriously wrong. Her hazel eyes flickered briefly towards Damien and Dorian, giving them an anxious look. So there WAS a storm. And if Evander's suspicions were justified then the storm was big...and dangerous.
Paying close attention to the rest of the conversation, she muttered "Discretion, goddit." more to herself than to her Department Head. Crap, this was serious. |

| Damien nodded as Evander spoke. "Got it. Discrete's my middle name," he said with a cheesy grin. It was actually Jayden, but he would go by discrete for the time being.
He was NOT happy with the idea of these blokes coming in and trying to run things around the Ministry. He had a scowl in place until Van spoke about training. GOOOOOD! They had always been on the same page with him on the training. Oooooh that meant they could have tons of fun with the kiddies. MWAHAHAHHAA.
Oh wait a second. New girl. Oh my she was a looker too. Damien put on his best good ole boy smile and tipped his hat in her general direction. Yeah. He was so going to chat her up in a bit. |

Nodding at Evander, Laurie looked around to see if she could find a place to sit without sitting next to anyone and decided standing was probably a better idea. Moving to the back of the room she leaned against the wall and tried to catch herself up on what was going on. Her eyes passed over a man who smiled at her and touched his hat. Ugh. Why did they always pounce when she first walked in?
Moving her eyes without so much as a sign of acknowledgment she looked at Evander and listened intently. She picked up bits and pieces of information as the others asked questions and tried to simplify what was being said. Suspicion about people newly hired? Hmmm well hopefully that didn't include her as well. Then again if that were the case she wouldn't have been allowed to stay now would she. Made logical sense to her.

| All of yah behold the wonders of a quoteless post. I don't normally bold but... lives in a hobbit hole || Ern and Touz's Nuzzle || roflysst || looking at a seed packet "You're right. We can't just assume anything. I think the ministry needs change. Stagnation is never good, its just that, in my opinion, an inexperienced administration is... ripe for the picking." Evander told Dorian. "I think a lot of the internal happenings have changed things, and not for the better."
He glanced at Prometheus and then when the younger man spoke he shook his head. "Can you blame her?" Really. Could you blame the minister, "she's young and relatively inexperienced and it can't be easy to suddenly step into a position of power, over a ministry as disorganised and insular as ours has become. Actually almost every other Magical Ministry in the entire world employs advisers, liasion officers, and those who are employed for public relations purposes. We do not and have not for many years. I'm bloody concerned now, how cut off we are from the general wizarding public." It didn't look good.
Looking at Alysson next, that was a much easier to answer question. "Security checks are actually necessary and, in my opinion, a long time coming. Its not so much our problem, not with Ministry Security part of a seperate department but... have you any idea how many security breaches there have been? Individuals breaking in, causing havoc and disrupting ministry operations. How can anyone take it seriously if its so easy to waltz on in and... well the last one to cause havoc on level three, was claiming to be the next dark lord for example."
Something the man, Martel, had said was true to Evander. "Best to go through these checks, pass them and then stand strong and confident knowing that its not our department causing all the security issues. Maybe at the least, It'd be a comfort to the public, because you can bet it will get it out, comforting to know that we're answerable." It was a grudging admission there. Not because he didn't believe it, but because of who had said it in the first place. He had no desire to agree with D'Isigny on anything. Or Gevrik for that matter, but Van had been aware of the need for a long time now.
He was aware, peripherally, of Damien's feral grin at the mention of training and Evander couldn't help but grin himself. He was also aware when the man immediately turned on the charm towards the new woman, Laurie. That was so normal that Van didn't bother paying much more attention than that. The man supposedly attacked by pirates? Total rogue. And Evander's best friend, as it turned out.
He looked at Laurie and nodded once. "From what I saw you checked out, Laurie, but you'll be just as subject to the checks as anyone else." It was the way of things. "Its not something to take personally. These checks, these changes, the new leadership." He added. "Its just something to be prepared for, be vigilant over." He rubbed at his brow and sipped his coffee. Cold.
Ehh. Evander paused to use a heating charm on it. Once that was done he downed it in one. "Now, theres something else. I guess its obvious that we're short staffed." Which was why Evander had got himself stuck with paperwork for quite the while. "And whether its because of injury, or people quitting, taking leave, or even in a few cases, death, is irrelevant. We've got to pull together now. I've had word that I can't promote or hire anyone officially for the remaining division head positions." He nodded at Dacs. She, young thing, but fiesty, was the only one. Ben's experience would be useful but Evander had his hands tied and couldn't do a thing. Well. Not that anyway. "There aren't enough workers on active duty, and I can't pull anyone who is assigned to patrol. The whole country is important, and I'd hate us to be blindsided elsewhere because we've concentrated efforts on Diagon Alley and London in general." That. That would suck. "So we're going to form a temporary special force. I managed to speak to the Minister alone and she's given us leave to do so." Though... she seemed a little absent-minded, which was odd and a puzzle for another day. "Those of you who are more experienced with the capture of criminals will be Enforcers, those of you trained for investigative and interrogation purposes will be Surveyors, and you will be a team. We'll all be a team." And Evander Bole would be right out there with them. "We'll cooperate with the internal investigations but we'll also keep our own eyes and ears open."
Phew. Probably there'd be questions. He looked around, giving them all time to digest.

| Damien listened intently towhat Van had to say about things around the Ministry. He totally agreed... The place was seriously lackingin security. He gave his head a shake and continued to listen. Then he got to the good stuff...
Damien's smile broadened as Van spoke of lovely things such as Enforcers and the like. Oh man this was going to be epic. He was eager to get out there and get his hands dirty. If things were as wonky as they seemed they had their work cut out for them. Indeed.
"I am more than willing to help in anyway you need, Evander. Healer's say I'm back at about 85 percent and getting stronger every day. I will be perfect again in a few days," he said with a grin. Yeah. Cause he was perfect anyway. Heh. |
