"Mrs. Kaufman. We're honoured to have you grace us with your presence." Van slowed and then stopped, doing his best to move out of the way of the influx of people, though generally the crowds tended to part around him. It was just that it wouldn't do to have someone accidentally walk into him or something.
"Allow me to introduce you to my wife." Hehe that was never going to get old. "Lilyan Bole." And yes, he looked pretty darned proud of himself.
Dorian got a nod and a pleased smile in return. He looked like he was distracted. That man was always half in his own head, but Van approved of him regardless. Good type to have on one's side, and surprisingly good company, really.
"Really Laurie, how many times do I need to tell you? Van is fine. Or Evander if you must." She got a quick smile but of course most of Van's attention went right on back to Lilyan.
You know, except for that inner MLE!Paranoid part that was subconsciously sweeping over everyone and everything.
He was actually getting pretty GOOD at walking with this cane. The best part? It had a trophy of sorts inside. Gevrik's wand. Current prized possession second only to Lilyan. He turned to eye Recard for a moment and then smirked to himself. Once Alexander had a moment to spare away from all the congratulations and whatnot, he'd have to give the man a high five.
In front of Armen so that the man would know it was because of him.
"Lily, this is Abigail Kaufman, Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation for the American Ministry of Magic." So, Gina's counterpart. "We've been in communication for some time regarding Ministry concerns." It was much better to speak in person than via a fireplace though.
Ben looked around to see the big boss man, Evander Bole. He had heard what had happened to the Department Head. He wandered over to the man, taking note of the cane. "Good Evening Sir," he nodded to Van. Ben had also heard that Van had gotten married, "I believe that congratulations are in order," he smiled at the other man.
Rafael didn't oppose the occasional ball, even enjoyed them from time to time, but the man's mind was heavy and so his attention elsewhere as he slowly walked into the entrance hall.
It took a moment for the hall and it's occupants to capture his attention, but when they did the Spaniard began moving further into the ball. His eyes sweeping over the crowd to see... well. He'd heard about what happened to Armen, but seeing it was another thing. Shame that.
The other man received a small nod of acknowledgement before he allowed his attention to be pulled else where. Rafa's eyes never stayed on many long past the polite head nod, though drinks did get a lingering look. No. He'd wait for that.
This one looked excited though. He wondered if she was excited by the ball itself or the reason behind the formal party as he greeted her with a incline of his head.
It was so Constance to manage a poised face when her insides were eager to mingle and learn everything about everything and everyone here at the ministry. Since her arrival, the British ministry certainly had not failed to keep her on her toes.
Constance preferred excitement. Be it the good kind or the bad ..
She did not appreciate no flashlights though. Where were the daily prophet's people - snapping away pictures and writing and exaggerating stories about everything and everyone. And her, of course.
Now mastering in the smile she had held the first day she had gotten here, Constance walked in, lean and perfect with her attire. She stopped when someone greeted her - for the first time, gracing the man with her original smile. "Constance Nightingale," she told, letting her hands rest on her sides.
Constance cut short the small pause, the kind of pause that was suppose to lead to the moment when the man was suppose to introduce himself - she spoke, again. "I think you should lend me your arm for the night,"

Elizabeth noticed the english accent and smiled. Though she was a full french, she liked the accent better than hers, "Pleasure meeting you Amy, I'm Elizabeth." She laughed at the question, "I'm 8 months." She smiled, "What department are you in, if i may ask?"
Ami smiled, shyly.
"Oh nice, is going to be a boy or girl?" Ami asked as she was amazed on how a woman can possibly carry a baby in her.
"I'm in Magical Transportation, what about you?" She answered politely.

"I have been well...we have been well," he answered, giving a response for himself first before editing in case he was asking for both of them. Gah married over a year and he was still unsure at time what to do or say. "Still managing to survive the catastrophes."
He added his own touch of laughter as his wife reacted to Sam's words and very presence. Gavin grew nervous as she jumped at the man before managing to inwardly chide himself for his worry as he let them talk.
Mrs. McNally...Aunty Tasha...soon enough it would be another name but they had time on that and they hadn't wanted to jinx anything. Catching the look he was being given, not to mention the anxious behavior Tasha was discretely displaying, Gavin got the hint and moved to take her arm again. "Shall we move into the Hall?" he mused, motioning towards the open doors as he started to lead them both in that direction.
Samuel's lips formed into a grin now as Tasha blushed. He, however, had not been expecting to get jumped over. Nevertheless, the Human Resource Office was happy. Very happy. He wrapped his arms around her waist as she mentioned Danyelle. "It's very good to see you too, Tasha." He had missed being able to actually get out and do something that didn't involve being a father. "And I might be able to bring her to work one day or come by on one of my off days."
At the mention of not being seen much, he sighed and sat Tasha back down onto her feet. "I've been taking some days off because I have one awful babysitter that can't keep a solid schedule." It was rather annoying. He fixed his suit now before pulling out his wallet while saying, "I do have some recent pictures of her."
He looked up from his wallet now as he heard Gavin speaking. "That's very good," he responded. "I've also been well and I did tell you two that I'm in a relationship now, didn't I?" He was sure he had seeing as it's been MONTHS since him and Gemma had gotten together; they had even taken the step of moving in together. "Oh, Accidents and Catastrophes. I'm sure stuff as been quiet without Daniel around." He smirked. "I do miss being in the Department and I need to make a visit soon."
When Gavin mentioned moving to the Hall, he nodded and started to follow his friends.

He could only really look for her hair, because he had been strictly forbidden to see her dress before the party. And strictly meant strictly: Lights had put it in the large, empty cupboard in their hall and locked it magically, making sure Ethan couldn't get in.
With the anticipation of finally seeing Lights in her dress, it was no wonder that Ethan froze in his tracks when he did. "Lights!" he called, a huge smile growing on his face.
Lights turned at the sound of a very familiar voice, her skirts making that satisfactory rustling sound you can only achieve with a dress like this. She smiled, making her way through the clusters of guests to Ethan. "Hey," she said, grinning at him. "You look ..." Her eyes fell on the trainers, and she laughed. "You just couldn't help yourself, could you?" she asked, kissing him lightly. "What do you think?" she continued, twirling around for him to see the full extent of her dress. "Bella did a good job, huh?" And she didn't make Lights wear heels, which was a relief because she'd have to refuse them. Lights couldn't stand high heels - literally and figuratively.

He had wanted to settle down much earlier in his life; get married and have kids but it just hadn't worked out. Then there was the whole Isobel stint. "I want them eventually though. How old is...Tucker you said?"
That was horrible. Death was not something that was ever to be taken easily in families or marriages. He could tell there was some pain still in her through the emotion in her expression. "I am still sorry though." he nodded slowly at her.
Gabi nodded, her lips curling up into a small smile, "Yes, I wanted more but, considering the circumstances..." her voice trailed off. Moritz had died only a year after Tucker had been born. He didn't have a single memory of his father. "Well, Tucker is a blessing, that's for sure. He's 9...soon he'll be leaving me for Hogwarts, it's unbelievable!" she chuckled. She had her fingers crossed that he'd end up in Slytherin like herself, but that boy really could end up anywhere, she had no idea.
"Thank you, it's fine, nearly 8 years now...anyways, I've rambled on about my depressing life long enough," she joked. Her life was anything BUT depressing, aside from that chapter of her life. Everything else in her life was awesome. SHE was awesome. "What do you do now? I'm sure waiting on people at parties can't be the ONLY duty you have on Level One."

Balls weren't exactly Legend'sthing. Really, nothing good had actually taken place for him at a ball. But he figured that since he was invited it would be rude to not go. He did work at the Ministry...it was a Ministry ball...so...it made sense to attend even if he wouldn't know half of these people. But he wasn't planning on attending a lame ball by himself. If he was going to suffer though a stuffy event, might as well drag invite someone along who was used to them.
The nineteen year old was dressed in the most spiffy way that he could while still trying to represent his "style". With Neptune at his side he made his way into the entrance hall, with a small smile on his lips. "There should be someone here with like a giant horn to introduce us." He murmured as he gazed around the room.

A BALL!
Neptune Bott was beside herself happy. It wasn't exactly that she hadn't been to umpteen billion balls and fancy occasions before - it was just that she hadn't ever been invited to a Ball just for being... Neptune. Her Bott-ness had nothing to do with her invite and everything to do with....
"Perhaps," Neptune gently began, "they do have horns. But they're confused if you're a guest a not. If you'd just let me help you tuck your shirt in, Legend." Really.... REALLY. Neptune could have it done in two seconds and he'd BE dressed for the part of Ball-attendee. Her fingers walked towards his shirttail.

"Madame Lafay?" he asked shocked to see that she was practically hanging onto the Minister calling him....Captain. *shiver*
Pulling himself together quickly he addressed her once more. "Sorry about that I just...didn't expect to see you here. I had no idea you were with Minister Greingoth here." he said forcing a smile onto his face. He grinned painfully again at the mention of him being an Errand Boy again. "I do what I am told, what can I say?" he played it off as politeness but he could tell that was a jab.
Did Greingoth know what all this woman had pawned out of her kitchen in the past?
Occasionally, Alexander glanced at Recard out of the corner of his eye. The man was meant to be on his best behavior--his very best behavior. So far, the man seemed to be doing a top notch job as a waiter. Alexander wasn't buying anything from the man right now, though. He had months to go before he could maybe prove himself again.
Hearing the words Madame Lafay, Alexander turned back to the man with a raise of his eyebrows. "Well, ...now you know," he said with a grin. He'd explain things a bit further, but it seemed like his fiancee had already done a fair enough job of that. She'd given the man all he needed to know. "Well, Recard, far be it from me to hold you up. With all the people here tonight, it looks like you've got your work cut out for you." He pat the man on the back again. "See you around, Recard."
Then on that note, he left the entrance hall and walked into the ballroom.

I just thought it would be proper for me to thank you for allowing me the honor of being here this evening. If the decor is any indication, then I do believe that the Ministry is in very good hands." They were very impressive.
She then turned her crystal gaze on the woman beside him, she really was a terrifying beauty. No wonder she had caught the attention of Mr. Greingoth. "A professor, why that is a very fine profession," Abigail said with a twinkle of pride in her eye. "The youth of today become the great minds of tomorrow. You must find the job very rewarding." She herself had considered teaching as a profession at one point, but politics had caught her attention right after graduation from school.
Before officially walking further into the ballroom, Alexander again turned to their special guest from the American Ministry. She seemed to be enjoying herself, and Alexander thought it well and fine that she'd been able to make herself at home. "Well, thank you, Mrs. Kaufman," he said, turning to smile at his fiancee as the American Department Head congratulated them on their engagement.
"The decor is remarkable, isn't it?" he commented. Magical Maintenance had set it up, and they'd done a wonderful job as far as he was concerned. He made a mental note to mention this to them sometime later. "I'll just be the ballroom looks exquisite, as well. I'm heading inside now, so you just make yourself at home. I'll send for you when it's time for the official welcoming."
He gave her a polite nod as a means of saying goodbye and then turned in the direction of the ballroom.

Alexander smirked in amusement. The last thing Recard looked at the moment was happy, and he was pretty sure Hecate knew that, as well. "He hates it," he remarked. "He's only holding on, because he hopes to be reinstated into his former position." He shook his head. "He's got months before he can possibly prove himself, though. Maybe even a year or so..."
Enough about Recard, though. With his fiancee at his side, the least of Alexander's worries was Armen Recard and whether or not the man enjoyed his current position. "Why don't we head inside?" he suggested. "We can stand at the entrance all evening, but there's a dance floor just waiting for us." He wasn't really one to enjoy dancing itself, but he'd enjoy it with Hecate.
Smiling at her, he turned and headed toward the ballroom.

Hmm, where to begin? It wasn't like he had made a lot of friends. Perhaps now would be a good time to start...after a drink, of course.
"Andrei," he said, noticing that the Advisor was now chatting away with another employee. "Good to see you here." It seemed as if it'd been a while since he'd seen the man, and it made Alexander proud to see his own employees attending. "Maybe I'll see you in the ballroom sometime later, hmm? With one last glance around the entrance hall, he opened another set of doors and entered the ballroom.
Kammy laughed. That was....weird. she hadnt talked to Aunt Josey in...a few years. She just wasnt the same after she got married. She didn't even come around the family...it was probably all Uncle Darius' doing.
"How like my aunt...she's so friendly. She was my favorite aunt when I was younger," she commented casually. "How was she? I haven't really seen them in awhile..." She asked, genuinely curious. She was also fairly certain her cousin was at hogwarts? Ah, she wasn't sure.
"She's doing well..." Adele replied, taking a deep breath in when she felt one of the baby's little hiccups. It was only a matter of time before someone found out, but she wanted to keep it a secret as long as possible. "She seems to be in good spirits and in good health as well." She added for good measure.

"Ooooops," Wes laughed loudly, grinning at the sight of the help covered in his spit. "My bad. Better go clean that up, gopher." He winked at the idiot and leaned in to give Izzy a long, romantic kiss. Just for Armen.

The first time Lily had gotten married, the whole wife thing had been weird. This time, it was still kind of weird, but definitely better. Van was definitely the person she was MEANT to marry, that first one didn't count.
Though she'd never change it even if she could, she had Brysen.
"Oh! I love America." Lily nodded, "I'm afraid that I haven't been there as much as I'd like to be, but it's lovely." Though she STILL hadn't gotten her honeymoon.
Hawaii?
Hmm.

Reminded her of her and her huband many moons ago, all wide-eyed and bushy tailed like rabbits in spring time. "I must say, if it is not too bold of me to do so in front of your wife, that you are much handsomer in person than you are in my fireplace. I am afraid soot and ash do not suit you, Mr. Bole." Really, they didn't and Abigail despised using Floo Networks as a mean to communicate. They were messy and the image of a head in her fireplace was rather frightening.
Abigail took a look at the man and sort of made a soft tisk tisk noise. He shouldn't be up and about like that, leaning on a cane and all. "Perhaps you should sit down and relax," she offered, gesturing rather gracefully towards the seating area. "I do believe you have earned yourself the right."
"You as well." Lily returned the handshake and smiled as the woman carried on, talking to Van. "I quite agree with you there, Abigail." She spoke after the woman was finished. "Though I thought I was being an over bearing Healer." So it was nice to hear someone ELSE saying the same thing. He really SHOULD be taking it easy.
But she knew him well enough to know that he wouldn't. Not yet, anyway.

Andie walked in. WOW it looked amazing she looked around for someone she knew then spotter Armen awwwww lil waiter. She went over to say hi since there was no other familiar faces around yet. "Hi how's this little job going?" she asked smiling.
Idly wondering if he'd be able to sneak out and to his desk on Level Two to send another message out to his contacts in Italy, Dorian tok a drink from his champagne glass. Odds were at least Evander would notice he'd disappeared, even though his superior was occupied with everyone else who had greeted him, along with his wife. He was happy for the other man, honestly, in that regard, even though it reminded him of his own past and Gwendolyn. It just wasn't exactly the right venue for dwelling on those events, especially since he'd thought he'd gotten past that. For the most part, at least. It wasn't like he'd gone out looking for anyone new yet. Gabriel was still out there. In prison, yes, but he was out there. He didn't want to risk his ex-best friend learning about another weakness.
Gray eyes scanning the groups of people mingling, he had almost missed the director of prosecution as she'd walked over by him, but he glanced down with a shrug as Laurie had spoken. "Balls. I can't say I have trouble with people in general," he replied, even as she'd gone on to scan the crowds as well. He generally only had problems with some people, and so far he hadn't seen anyone who qualified. Except for Recard, but the disgraced former department head seemed to be in an appropriate position tonight. No need to dwell on the rest. "It's a bit odd being here. Celebrating when I know it's not entirely over."
Laurie looked up at the rather tall man curiously for a moment before looking back at the people entering. He was always a mystery and never talked much but at least he wasn't a prat. Plus one for him in her book. "Least that's one of us that doesn't. I like neither personally. Balls make you dress up and pretend to be in good spirits with a bunch of people you don't know." Though she did look good she would admit but still... "And people because they always want something from you." Like certain a certain sweet talking man that shall now remain nameless. Sigh.
Taking a longer sip of her champagne than before she watched Evander and then her eyes landed on that Recard fellow and a smirk formed at least some people got what they deserved. "Nothing is ever over, Dorian," she said turning to face him completely, "A new chapter takes its place and some other catastrophe awaits. It's a bit of an endless cycle really. But the people need a lift so we put on a smile and push forward." She gave him a slight smile and sipped at her champagne, "Care to escort me this evening? We can be miserable together." Sounded like a plan to her and if Hunter did show up he might think twice. A win-win situation.
There Roxi was, searching for the waiter, when she had the very distinct feeling of being watched. Hmm… now that was interesting. She decided to ignore it until…
The man said hello. She turned to him with a smile. Hmm… well he was rather nice looking, wasn't he? And American… well wasn't that interesting…? "Well hello to you too," Roxi replied, with a slightly flirtatious smile, her own American accent fairly obvious. "Nope, not with anyone. You?" she said. Although, he appeared just as dateless as she…
AN ACCENT!!!
And I'm proud to be an American... Where at least I know I'm free... Ben didn't let his excitement show; just cool and casual. Oh, an accent? Interesting, not THAT cool....
And that flirtatious smile. Subtle, but there. She's 8 years older than him and likes him. Heh heh. You've still got it. Ben smiled in a thankful way, though, he was NOT in a flirtable type of position.
"Not that I'm aware of..." the Detective replied. "My girlfriend might show up, but I don't know. She's working at this new thing now, so..... I don't know." Half-Awkward laugh. He really wished he knew if she was coming.
Oh, how rude of me."I'm Detective Benjamin Amsten. I work in the MLE, as you do."

Rupert saw Andie and walked up to her. "Hey, Andie!" he said smiling.
Oh, this time he really managed to mess up everything. Well done, Konrad.
He couldn't help not feeling annoyed though, whether or not he was actually showing it. She asked what was going on and he answered... in his own way. But there she was, pushing him away. Did she really miss him? He started having doubts about it, but of course he didn't say it out loud. It wasn't exactly the perfect time and place for this.
Closing his eyes for a short moment, only to try and clear his mind, he finally fixed his eyes on her and smiled. "There is nothing to discuss, if you ask me." But of course, she probably didn't want to hear that. "You know how I feel, because nothing's changed for me." He wasn't sure about what she still felt, however.
Rose felt really bad but she had to know what was going on. They were supposed to be engaged and yet, they hadn't spoken in months. That was just weird, honestly. She wasn't sure if it was her fault but anyway, they had to sort it out..whatever it was. She started to get the feeling that he was definitely irritated. Sigh.
Blink. Nothing to discuss? "Konrad, we haven't had any sort of communication in ages and we are engaged. I mean, don't you think we need to talk about it?" Rose couldn't believe this. Did he just expect her to say everything was okay because it clearly wasn't.
Trying to lighten the mood a little, Rose smiled up at him. "Do you want a drink?"
