Alex sighed as she took a seat. She was a little bit homesick, because this was Carnival time in Italy. It would be the first one she ever missed. She missed her family, her friends, the food, the weather, the river, and everything in Italy. It was just so much diffrent here. "Pasta with marinara." she ordered, abrubtly. She sighed as she saw the food come up from the table. It didn't look nearly as good as her mom's homemade stuff. Oh well.

Katalin was sitting on her own, she was wondering how she was going to travel to work now that she was pregnant with twins specially the fact she has to come from Italy.
She'd changed her job thrice in the past two years, and Sion still felt restless, like a bird of flight trapped in a cage. One couldn't tell it from her eyes, dark and bright, the kind that promise fun, but it had been making her more and more restless lately.
Giving her head a little shake, she sat down at an empty table, set down her handbag, and frowned slightly.
She'd changed her job thrice in the past two years, and Sion still felt restless, like a bird of flight trapped in a cage. One couldn't tell it from her eyes, dark and bright, the kind that promise fun, but it had been making her more and more restless lately.
Giving her head a little shake, she sat down at an empty table, set down her handbag, and frowned slightly.
Whistling a tuneless kind of tune Damien stolled into the cafeteria. Hmm. Was he even hungry? Not much.

WHOA. Be still my BEATING HEART! A wide smile spread his face. Unholstering his wand and casting a nonverbal Orchideus Damien conjured the prettiest pink daisy in the WORLD. THe single gerber daisy clutched in his hand he approached the table occupied by one Ms. Sion Jetza and gave a rouegish sort of grin. "My lady... I must tell you, you are a sight for sore eyes," he said in a slow drawl.
Taking it upon himself to park his bum in a chair he held the flower out to her and winked. Sion Jetza... He MAY have pined for you.

She looked up... and continued to look.
"Do mine eyes deceive me?" She asked, a soft laugh bubbling up in her throat at his greeting, as a small white hand accepted the flower. She wove it into her hair, the soft pink hue standing out against her dark hair, before looking up at him again.
"Damien Jackson... where in the name of pink daisies have you been?"
Sion, not having looked up but heard the voice, had been about to say "Of course I am," when she realized something.
That voice.
She looked up... and continued to look.
"Do mine eyes deceive me?" She asked, a soft laugh bubbling up in her throat at his greeting, as a small white hand accepted the flower. She wove it into her hair, the soft pink hue standing out against her dark hair, before looking up at him again.
"Damien Jackson... where in the name of pink daisies have you been?"
Damien smirked slightly at the reaction Sion gave upon seeing him. Oh and she GIGGLED. YUSH!
"I have SO been around. Although, I had to take a leave of abscence for awhile there. Did a short stint in St. Mungo's. Injured and all. Where have you been? I have been back for a while and I have missed seeing you," he said in a completely relaxed tone. He was NOT giddy about seeing her. Not ONE bit. Nope.
Reaching across the table he touched the petals of the daisy gently and smiled a more subdued smile. "Beautiful." The flower and you Ms. Jetza.
Damien smirked slightly at the reaction Sion gave upon seeing him. Oh and she GIGGLED. YUSH!

"I," she agreed, inclining her head ever so slightly, as if to acknowledge a compliment. She paused for a second, then added, more quietly and less mischievously, "Thank you."
"... and I am so on the list of the most beautiful people on the planet," Sion responded. "Oh wait, I really am on that list. That probably means you have been around."
Smirk.

Then he gave her a softened expression and nodded his head. "Banged up pretty good for a while there. All better now though," he reassured her. Well, he was mostly okay. He kind of limped now and again. His old bones ached from time to time after all. The softened expression gave way to a humored one though. "Hell, they couldn't pick anyone better for THAT job could they? Being sick is a sign of weakeness. Scare them enough and they WILL get better," he mused. That was a lovely theory. Scaring someone well. He might have to employ this method on some Auror trainees at some point. Hehe.

"So." She gave him a light smile, a smile almost not there. "What have you been up to, Mr. Jackson?"
"That's to be expected of someone intelligent," Sion grinned. Intelligent people did not question her beauty.

Damien let the smile melt off of his face and he gave a slight shake of his head. "Crazy witch used a gouging spell on my leg then collapsed the roof on me. She got me from behind. Wasn't even a perp. Just someone I knew from a long time ago," he said in a quiet voice. Without thinking his hand went to his left thigh where he rubbed the place that was once gouged out. It was one of those memory injury hurty things.
Shaking those thoughts off he smiled back at her and shrugged. "Gotta toughen up the freshmeat somehow. I wouldn't scare them too bad though." Not at first. Not if they were ill.
"Well. I have been trying to keep Wizarding Britain safe. Bout all I can get up to these days it seems," he boasted. Yeah. HE was the one keeping things safe. The biggest, baddest, toughest Auror around. And the most handsome to boot.

Truth was... perhaps Damien had scorned her, as far as she was concerned. He didn't see that though. Not at all. Leaving someone to go undercover was not an intentional scorning. He just never made it back... and moved to a different continent.
Finally something to lighten the mood a bit more. "The younger, less experienced Aurors... they seem to think that I am not as imposing as they ought to. Quirky older man, not as threatening. They will learn though," he said with a smirk. Perhaps Van would let him frighten the youngins a fair bit. SOON.
Pondering her question for only a moment he nodded his head. "Of course I care. They are the future protectors of the Wizarding World. It is important to teach them. Especially the hard way. "... and never fell in love again."
She said that pretty matter-of-factly.
"I'm disappointed." She smiled again, her smile still light, still playful. The one thing that possibly defined Sion? She spoke her mind and said most things. Ironic that she had ended up heading the Department of Mysteries.
Never loved anyone other than her mother and herself. "Wish I could say the same. Was in love once. She was, uh, not the person I thought she was. In the end. Bad ending," he spoke softly as he watched her across the table.
Love. It was for fools. And birds apparently.
His memories were dispelled as she spoke again. Chuckling a little louder than he had before he shook his head. "Well, if I was being honest... there is a bit more to it than my job. IF I was being honest I would tell you all about it," Damien said with great joy in his voice.

She was special. Indeed she was.
"I'm sorry," Sion said, sounding sincerely so. "Finding out a thing like that can't have been easy." She might feel she had never been in love, but that did not mean she had never been hurt.
At least she had enough of a shield around herself, now. People did not - could not - hurt her now. And, for Sion, that was that.
"I'll take my disappointment back," Sion laughed, inclining her head ever so slightly. Realizing her right hand was still half-curled, lightly, on the top of her handbag, she removed it, catching sight of her wristwatch in the process.
"You don't have to head back to the auror office, do you?" She asked. "I'm on... an extended break." Thought-handling could drain a person, at times.

Then she mentioned work. Boo. "Actually I should get there. Been some stuff happening lately. Can you meet me later? Muggle London?" he asked. No there was not a tone of desperation to his voice. Not at all.

Laughter bubbled up in her throat again, at his action. "How thoughtful of you to return it," she said, pretending to pocket an invisible mass of disappointment, a smile lingering in her eyes.
"Isn't there always something happening in the auror office?" she asked, a slight smile playing around her lips. "Well, don't let me keep you."
Muggle London? She hadn't seen that coming but then, she hadn't been thinking about it. The conversation had given her so many other things to think about. "Sounds lovely," Sion agreed, tilting her head to one side to look at him out of big, dark eyes. "Have a good day, my dear Damien."
"Don't scare too many people," she added, smiling softly.
