Camila walked into the conference room, she was late she knew it and she had just come back from a long vacation. She looked at the conference room where everyone seemed to be getting up and starting to leave. She had missed the meeting.

Aargh stupid alarm, she thought annoyed. What should she do now? Hmm. Go back to her cubicle and wait for Diana or Krell to update her about the meeting seemed to be the best idea she could come up with.

Malachi grinned. The trrip to Atlantis sounded like fun, he wished he could go.

Malachi noticed a young woman slip into the meeting. Why does she seem familiar? He asked himself, his hand running through his hair seemingly of its own accord. He collected his things and grabbed another cookie. As he bit into it, he realised why he recognised the young woman: the personnel files. He approached her, an easy smile spread over his lips as he swallowed his mouthful of cookie. "Hello, you're Camila, aren't you? I'm Malachi Brown, your division head." He held out a hand for her to shake.

Camila looked at the man infront of her, now this is some division head, she thought as he introduced himself. And even though she was slightly taken aback that someone had approached her, she smiled warmly and shook his hand.

"Hello Mr.Brown." She smiled, not knowing whether he'd mind her using his first name and preffering to be formal until she got to know him.

"I'm Camila Ausent," She introduced herself and she felt a little foolish as he already seemed to know her.
"I'm sorry I'm late but I've been away for a while now an- .. and the routine needs time getting used to again." She said fluttering slightly under his gaze. That was most unlike her, she was always easy around people but it seemed that the long break had many effects on her. She wondered whether he knew the reason behind her break and thought he might know as he had recognized her already so he must've read her papers.

"Oh, it's fine dearest. I'm Gina. Just get up to date. I'm sure Malachi will be able to help get you on board with out assignment." She said excited. "Cookie?" She said offering the woman a cookie.

"Oh no it won't," Camila said, horrified at the idea. "Sure, Malachi." She added smiling at him before he left, he did seem to have something to do.

She looked closely around at the conference room, now that everything was quiet setteled. It looked different with the round table, and everyone in there seemed to have had enjoyed the meeting. "The room looks great," She said admiring the room and taking a bite of her cookie. "Mmm .. this tastes good."She added smiling at Gina.

New Conference

Malachi Brown walked into the empty conference room and started to set up for the return of the ambassadors. He put out coffee, tea and various juices as well as snacks. He was expecting that the returning employees would be hungry.

When he was done, he sat down with the stack of paperwork he had brought with him and started to work his way through it, sending out a paper aeroplane memo every now and then.

Now that she was back in the Ministry, Helena made her way down to the conference room like instructed.

Seeing that someone was already in there, Helena opened the door and stepped into the conference room. Ah, that person was Mr Brown. Clearing her throat, the woman spoke up. "Hello Mr Brown, I hope you're well?." Hmm. How was she the first one here? The others had left before her.

Malachi smiled up at the women, setting his paperwork to one side. "Hello Helena, good to see you're back safe and dry." he grinned at her. His recent personal news was acting like a kind of talisman; it would take a lot to upset Malachi today.

"We'll give the others a moment or two before we get started." He stood up and poured himself a coffee and grabbed a muffin. "Please, help yourselves, this stuff is for you." He grinned again, sipping his coffee.

Sunny got a cup of coffee, she needed an energy boost after being under the water. 'Never mind claustrophobic, mine got itchy. I hadn't prepared for wearing that type of thing.' Sunny chuckled to herself as she recalled how silly she looked in her suit. Before Sunny sat down she took a chocolate muffin, coffee and a muffin - the exact thing she'd imagined she would eat at big Ministry meetings since she was a little girl.

Malachi smiled in welcome and went to get a drink for Gina. When she got straight to the heart of the matter at hand, his smile only widened. That was what he liked about Gina, she was straight to the point, no faffing about with extra words.

Setting the cup down in front of his boss, he said "I'm hoping that you weren't too... intimidated. Merpeople can be very," he looked at his boss and bit his lip a little, trying to reign in his sense of humour, "Certain about the things that they expect an the way they expect them to be done."

Malachi sat back and waited to hear about how the negotiations had gone.

" They are arrogant, somewhat intimidating, and defiinitely an un-coroporte bunch" Joe Jon Montcenaggio explained to his boss and everyone there. The merpeople. "They were terrifying. I don't see how they think that we'd get more solved by just spearing people who pollute..." The middleaged woman sighed. "And... they had jars. Of ... I'm not sure what was in them. potions that'd been poured into the sea, I think ... They said something about them releasing it all into the air if something isn't done about the problem."

Scary though, really. Helena didn't want to have to worry about all of those deadly fumes destroying her orchid. They HAD to find a way to fix the pollution problem.

The woman listened to Mr Brown. Of no, she wasn't intimidated by them. Just plain terrified! As he said how the merpeople were very certain about what they want done, Helena stifled a chuckle. He really was right. The merpeople WERE very to the point; and they made it clear what they want doing.

Helena listened to JJ Starr explain, before speaking up. "Oh no. I don't think that they were uncooperative. They just have a very different culture to us. It was really difficult to try to sway them to ideas of fines and detterance, because like JJ Starr said, they just want to spear the polluting wizards." Helena sat up a little straighter in her seat. "We suggested that the ministry bring in some kind of law, making the dumping of unused or failed potions in the ocean would be a good idea; introducing fines for those who do... But the merpeople didn't understand the potential in the idea."

They really weren't exaggerating. It was just spear, spear, spear with the merpeople.

" You said everything right Helena" J.J. Starr told her. " I just had a different take on the meeting with all that spear talking" joe Jon Montcenaggio said Helena. " I never heard nor thought if any Mer people acting like that anytime" J.J. explained to Helena and his boss.

Helena giggled at Gina's enthusiasm. "Well, I think that it would be a good idea to work with the Law Enforcement people on this. It's the only way we'll ever get anywhere." The woman nodded and pressed on, "And we need to make it clear to the wizarding public how serious this issue is, and that we need to do something about it. I'm not sure who we'd have to work with on that, though."

The woman slouched in her seat a little, trying to remember what else got said. "But really, all we found is that the merpeople simply want the waste potions out of their homes and their waters. With the threat of releasing it all into our homes and land, of course... Perhaps some kind of recycling scheme could be introduced? I brought that idea up to the merpeople, but they kind of over looked it."

She took a sip of her coffee, then looked to JJ Starr and Sunny. Hopefully they'd have a lot more to add.

Malachi frowned deeply, this was not good news. He glanced at Gina and then asked, "Are you absolutely sure they were threatening war?" He ran his hand over his face and through his hair in his characteristic manner, making it stick up at alarming angles. "Can I ask how many of you have dealt with Merpeople before? It's just... they can seem very aggressive if they think they have been wronged." He sighed deeply. "And it's my opinion that they have been, if I'm going to be really honest. They don't have the power to release any potions into the air... perhaps they were just asking you to think how it might feel to live with pollution?"

JJ's comment made his frown deepen further. "Mr Montcenaggio, I really don't think that's helpful. They're just different to wizards, that's all. They don't hold back." Malachi realised that he might have spoken out of turn but he was rather on the side of the Merpeople. He had seen the damage potion pollution could do when he had worked in Fiji. "Merpeople just take some getting used to I suppose. They have a very plain way of speaking."

He looked back at the team. "Did you bring back some samples so that we can find out what they're dealing with? Didn't you say they had some jars of potion?" Malachi looked at them expectantly.
