Couture ClosetWhether you want to show off your craft magic or showcase your original artwork, this is the place for all our SS creators to share their talents.
Hello! I'm MJ and I've been an SS member for a very long time and an artist for even longer. I'm also an art teacher for grades 7-12, and I've also enjoyed doing crafts for as long as I remember, so I feel like I'm constantly creating something in an artistic vein.
Anyway, I have shared a few things here and there on SS, for one reason or another (mostly IC or fan club things), but I've never saw reason to have a thread of my own creations. But recently I've been inspired to create some SSRPG related artwork and I thought I might share some of it here. Currently on my to-do list are drawings of my characters and a graphic novel inspired by one of my characters. I likely won't share anything that isn't HP or SSRPG related, but anything that falls into those categories will be fair game. And maybe I'll dig up some of my past creations to post here (but probably not, because I don't tend to like revisiting past work. We'll see).
Wow, it's been a little while since I've been in here. Clearly I failed at my challenge of trying to finish weekly prompts inspired by Seektober 2020, but that's life. I got kind of stuck by the prompt glasses. I was working on an ink drawing of a dragon in her lair, sleeping after a good meal, with Harry's glasses found scattered next to her (read into that what you will). And I got caught up in shading dragon scales. It remains unfinished. Maybe I'll finish it one day or maybe I've just moved on.
SPOILER!!: long overdue responses to such lovely comments

I really like working on black paper for different mediums, but this was the first time trying out metallic watercolor on black watercolor paper. I kind of like the effect and I need to make a mental note to try this more.

How do you use gouache? Just like watercolor out of the tube?
Oh thank you. I think I need to get more sparkly watercolors because I like the effect on black a lot.
Yeah, gouache is very similar to watercolor, except it's opaque. Kind of a cross between watercolor and acrylic, but gouache can be reactivated with water like watercolors can. Have you tried it since you left this comment a year and a half ago?

It took me a minute to remember what frilly tacos were lol.. aww those two though. And thank you! I really enjoyed working with them. I really should do more.

Yep, it's the first one. The occamy kind of fascinated me when I first saw it, even though I have a fear of snakes. Though I supposed it's removed enough from being snake-like that I didn't feel that watching it. And thank you
So I was inspired to go back to working on colored pencil face claim portraits. I actually started this portrait of my character Xanthe Walker about two years ago. Not that it took me an exceptionally long time or longer than my portraits usually do, but my attention with art is usually all over the place. I get excited to start something, then before I finish I get interested in something else. But I really wanted to finish this as well as some of the other face claims that I've started - I've sketched out and started quite a few, so hopefully I won't have such a big gap until my next post again. I haven't played Xanthe in a while, but she is a former Ravenclaw, very free-spirited, and really into art herself. This was again created with Prismacolor colored pencils and my reference was her FC Neve Caffrey. I'm not as happy with this one, but I really just wanted to finish it lol.
SPOILER!!: Xanthe
