| | Upper Level Corridors *click for live version* Clean and pristine, the upper level corridors are the most straight forward in the Ministry as the departments here have no time for funny business and require a certain level of mobility to complete their tasks efficiently. You'll notice that the walls lining the corridors feature framed paintings of pureblood past and present Ministers for Magic. The closest one you meet as you exit the lifts belongs to the current Minister for magic, Charles Hollingberry, and concludes with one of Ulick Gamp, the first individual to bear the title, as you approach the Minister's Office. Framed portraits of past and present Senior Undersecretaries, department heads, and other Ministry dignitaries of high pedigree are also scattered about. |

| astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf Charles was beside himself, but he knew it would pass. The updates from Hogwarts were driving him mad and now the lack of contact with his grandchildren entirely had the man showing his cracks. On edge and snappish, the Minister had dismissed himself from his office and paperwork to take a walk and perhaps soak up whatever lingering wisdom the portraits could offer him.
Or perhaps he was hoping one of them would gain a visitor soon from Trentula's office with the latest news. He KNEW he should have given Eiji and Rebecca two-way mirrors...he just KNEW it...and now he was kicking himself over not doing so.
Pausing somewhere in the middle of the long corridor, Charles let out an uncharacteristic ROAR just for the sheer release of his frustrations with the whole situation. Perhaps he would see about joining the investigation team when they journeyed to Hogwarts.

Olly stopped in her tracks at the sound of T H A T. Who was that? What was that? Working on the same level as MC, she'd slowly started to learn to identify certain creatures' sounds so she was fairly sure that this had come from a human. Fairly being the key word here. If it was in fact a human, Olly had absolutely no interest in comforting someone was clearly very distressed about something. But if it hadn't in fact been a person...
With a somewhat frustrated sigh, Olly eventually changed directions a little and headed for the the corridor she thought the noise had come from. She wasn't even sure which would be the better outcome for her right now, being faced with an escaped creature or with a frustrated human. Maybe the- "...Minister."
This was probably the WORST outcome. That sounded bad. |

Unremarkably he had been heard and Charles supposed of those who could have just-so-happened to walk in on him in this frustrated state, that Olivia Olly was one of ther safer options. Perhaps. He would very much like to assume that his department heads were not complete gossips - though he knew he could already count on one of them to very much be the sort.
Regardless, the Minister straightened his posture and his tie accordingly when his slightly foggy blue eyes fell upon her. "Ah, Olly....stopping by to discuss the Hogwarts situation?" he asked as he cleared his throat and ceased his tie fidgeting. "Superb timing."
Just...needed to gather himself a bit more before he could approach the conversation with a clear head.

| The Kisapaths | Sila!Roti | -2 | TouchableHair | ToiletPaperGuy | QueenOfConfusion Oh, indeed.
Olly took a couple of steps closer so they were at a regular distance for a normal conversation. Should she hope for something else in the Minister's life that was causing him such distress? Probably not. And yet, somehow deep down she secretly did. Maybe this wasn't at all Hogwarts-related. Maybe he'd just...had a bad lunch.
There was a brief moment after he'd spoken where Olly considered asking him. Eventually, however, she chose not to. She could read between the lines and the Minister clearly was not in the mood. She wet her lips absently before giving a curt nod. "Yeah." She blinked once, then quickly brushed down some imaginary lint off her shirt. "I mean, yes, I was. Do you have a moment?" |

It had really just been the last straw on the man's already rather fragile resolve, causing him to spill a bit of milk as he attempted to pour it into his coffee. He may have cried over the spilled milk. May.
But he was collected now, for the most part, and more than willing to discuss the plan to move ahead with one of the team. It gave him something to focus on and hope for a swift resolution.
"Of course, several of them," he chuckled a bit dryly as he gestured back towards the corridor towards the Minister's Office so that they may discuss things in a more private setting, though they could talk and walk. All needed to be efficient with their time. "Tell me what you have concluded so I may relay our game plan to Hogwarts."

| plop.... splat... drip
If you're walking through a high owl-traffic area, these are the sounds you might hear. Those sounds coming from flying animals might cause some alarm. When you look up to see where the splatting of smelly liquid comes from, be careful because you might be a target for the next owl that flies by. In fact, you probably shouldn't look up at all and you might want to bring an umbrella to work tomorrow. Without functioning Ministry memos, they don't really have much work to do.
Owl poo is quite smelly. Did someone feed them fried chicken again?

He turned sharply on his heel and headed the opposite way down the corridor now. Caleb wasn't usually down this way, but he had been delivering some documents from his department to other levels. While it was easier to just send them as memos, it was nice to get up and walk around for a bit sometimes. Stretch your legs and all that.
He had been looking down at his watch, wondering if he had time to run back and get a coffee before his upcoming meeting, when he noticed someone coming at him with an umbrella. A whole umbrella, wide open and everything in the middle of the corridor!
Oh Merlin, it was that Fletcher bloke that he had met at the karaoke night thing. The one who had been so uppity about being the Junior Undersecretary. Caleb couldn't help but smirk to himself as he approached him - whatever Fletcher had been trying to get away from, he was now storming full steam ahead towards him. "Haven't you heard that's bad luck?" he asked, indicating to the umbrella with a small head nod as he started to come up to him.

A magical catastrophe was walking toward him right now. How did Fletcher know this? He had looked up this man-boy after that karaoke night. He wasn't at all taken with his shenanigans, or his department.
Scowling just at the sight of Newell, the junior undersecretary paused in the narrow corridor. Did he care that he was possibly knocking (or at least blocking) the younger employee with his umbrella? Not a bit. Of course Fletcher knew about the bad luck thing. It was just much worse luck, in his opinion, to trash one designer suit per week due to bird droppings.
"I wasn't born yesterday," he retorted, "unlike you." Ha bloody ha, the youth knew nothing. Fletcher continued to stand where he was so he could further bother the boy. "Why hasn't your department found a solution for these owls yet?" Yes, Caleb, explain this. It was all on you. All the magic going haywire in the ministry. Fix it.

Was this guy trying to take a dig at his age? Because Caleb was flattered. Obviously he looked younger than he actually was, and that confirmed it. Hehe. "Why thank you for that compliment," he said with a grin. But he wrinkled his dark eyebrows at that next question and looked up at the ceiling, which thankfully was unoccupied at the moment.
"That seems like a question for someone in Magic Reversal," he pointed out, although he knew that the entire department was working on it in some regard. He personally had been working on something to try and pinpoint the exact cause of magical failure - but this guy didn't need to know that.

Magic Reversal? Surely that had something to do with this boy still. "And?" What did that have to do with Fletcher? Nothing. He was in the obviously superior Minister's Office, and thus above these small problems that someone else needed to solve. He would never ACTUALLY walk himself to Accidents & Catastrophes to solve problems hah.
"What do you do here, Caleb, if you're not solving magical catastrophes like this?" Serious question. Fletcher was seriously GROMPY.

Any normal, rational human being would probably be worried that someone this high up in the Ministry was giving him such a hard time. But Caleb did not get stressed. Not anymore. He used to, back when he was at school, but that had been over a decade ago. Things just rolled right off of him now, and he was fairly confident it was for the better. "And....that's not my division. I'm in Experimental Charms," he explained. "And for your information, I am TRYING to come up with a charm that will examine the memos and see where their existing charm is broken," he explained. Sort of a debugging spell, if you will. It was still in the very beginning stages though. Like...the stage of just being a thought in his brain and a few notes on his desk. But he WAS fully planning on examining it further.

Fletcher eyed him again and let out a small tut of disapproval at his answer. Experimental charms sounded like the waste-of-time research his eldest daughter did at university. There must be something wrong with this generation of "experimenters" or whatever kids Caleb's age called themselves. They all CLEARLY needed some prodding in the right direction, some help from someone older and wiser who had already made a success of themselves in the world. Someone like... Fletcher Knowing this, Fletcher decided perhaps he ought to soften his approach to this... boy. He needed a mentor and some hands-on practical application of genius ideas.
"Show me," Fletcher demanded on a whim. "Show me where you're working and your progress so far." That's right, he could make demands like this, being high up in the Ministry and all that and having a very overinflated opinion of himself as well.
Fletcher even added a 'go on,' hand gesture for Caleb to lead the way to his division.

LOUD and echoing, the alarm that rang through all of Level 2 easily leaked into the corridors surrounding the department. An alarm that Ministry personnel would know signaled trouble and discourse in Diagon Alley and specifically with regard to the infamous wandshop of Ollivanders.
With the majority of Law Enforcement already out to Azkaban on an emergency errand, who was left to hear the cry for help?

"Never mind, Caleb," Fletcher huffed as the alarm continued riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinging and ringing, absolutely ruining his hearing. He never thought he, in the Minister's Office, would have to do something like answer this alarm, but here he went, jogging off down the corridor, finally closing his umbrella as he picked up the pace. He supposed he could at least apparate there (once he got outside the Ministry), make sure Paradise Piercings & Tatttoos was safe, and then appparate back.
It was probably a false alarm anyway. Nothing to worry about.

Stressed out was maybe an understatement, but today was one of those days where that wasn't exactly a bad thing. Kaiser thrived on stress, he always had, and it had been nothing short of a betrayal when it turned out that, actually, he... didn't? Allegedly. So naturally he railed against that, attempted to defy it at every turn. Usually it worked, often enough to give him a certain satisfaction about being right.
Which, of course he was. Who knew Kaiser better than he himself?
So... less stressed out, more stressed, he supposed. At any rate, Kaiser was startlingly busy, but coping well with it. Always good; the last thing he wanted was to make things difficult for Minister Hollingberry.
Having just been down to one of the other departments to quickly reschedule a meeting, Kaiser found himself in a sudden lull of activity. Most of his other tasks for the day required action from someone else, someone who was in a meeting, otherwise indisposed, or would be with him 'shortly'. He absolutely could not sit at a desk all that time, but it was a bad idea to choose now to go for a break (in case someone he needed came through in the meantime), so once Kaiser got back to the upper levels, he planned to just... lurk. Sure.
And it seemed he wasn't the only one; while passing one of the portraits, he spotted someone standing nearby, and paused. "Oh, hello... Eve...?" Kaiser greeted the young woman, whom he knew to be in his department, but another division, and so hadn't attempted to commit a name to memory. He was fairly aching for some interaction which was not about this meeting, or that paperwork, or whichever lunch order, and so when he saw his opportunity, he took it. "Busy day?" he asked, phrasing it like a question when really, it was more of a statement. Automatically, and barely aware of doing so, Kaiser shoved his hands into his pockets for safekeeping.

Evelyn pushed herself off the wall at the sound of footsteps, but relaxed back when she recognising the person walking. Kaiser. Mr. Kaiser? She still wasn't quite sure if that was his first or last name but it seemed to be what everybody called him around the department. She'd had very little contact with the actual Minister and his immediate office, so hadn't had a chance to get to know his personal assistant. "Evelyn," she corrected him with a soft smile, lowering the coffee cup from her face. "All the days seem busy, today's not different from the rest," Evelyn answered after a moment of thought. He wasn't technically her superior, but she still felt the need to make sure he didn't think she was slacking. That would be all sorts of unacceptable, both to her office reputation and also in general. "I thought I'd take a few minutes to drink this before heading back," she added, showing him her white mug with 'sooah' written on it in tasteful gold calligraphy.

Of course it was, because she had just said so. Kaiser offered a little smile, mentally repeating it to himself a few times. Evelyn. Evelyn. Evelyn. Now that she had officially sort-of-introduced herself to him, it would be a lot more painful for both of them (but mostly for him) if he forgot it again the next time their paths crossed.
Because it always seemed unlikely to him that his colleagues would know him - and because he never expected them to remember his name - he returned the favour. "Kaiser." And then, "Right, things are rather hectic at the moment. I suppose it might be selfish to say I prefer it over having no work to do." Because busy days for him meant everyone else was likely run off their feet, particularly Minister Hollingberry, and likely Fletcher too. Taking a couple of steps closer, Kaiser ducked his head slightly to read the mug - even after all these years, fancy writing was a bit of an obstacle for him. "Soo...ah?" He looked back towards Evelyn's face for confirmation. Or rejection.

| curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog Calloway had been working at the Ministry for about a month now but...he was never good with directions, and he kept getting lost. Literally every other day. Today was no exception - how had he ended up HERE? He knew he was SORT OF close to his office...he had to be near the right floor...but what floor WAS it? Where were the lifts? HOW had he wandered off here?
Well, he knew HOW. He'd been reading the Prophet to see if they'd published his nephew's birth announcement and had gotten distracted. This was why he didn't read.
Grumbling under his breath and rolling up the newspaper under his arm, he looked around, hoping to find some familiar landmark to help him.

| Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something... She had been running late and Alana hated running late. So already flustered she went hurrying through the corridor to try to get the office without anyone really noticing she wasn't there, but she knew better. How could she just slip in, she was the receptionist, the first person everyone saw, the person that kept the calendar and got coffee at times. She was going to be seen coming in late and that wasn't helping with everything else that had went on the past year.
She still felt on edge with Bain still not found, the man always gave her the creeps when he was near and now they had no clue where he was. She hoped he was in a different country by now, but it did not ease her discomfort. With her head down she was moving quickly and ran right into someone. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean.. I wasn't paying attention." This was just what she needed getting someone else upset with her.

Cal had found the announcement, which was printed right next to the CUTEST baby picture of all time. Perfect! Determined to fold this up and save it for his sister, he began to do just that when...
He let out a little grunt as someone ran in to him and he shot them a GLARE. "That's obvious," he grumbled, and then realized that OOPS. That had been SUPER rude. "Oh, no, I mean...I'm sorry, that was rude of me," he said, blushing a little.

My mind is just in too many different places I suppose. Truly though I hope I didn't step on your foot or anything. I'd hate to start your day off badly." It was always good to start the day on a good note, so this was not the way Alana wanted to start hers, but since before the war she felt herself always on edge at work. "Can I get you a cup of coffee or something to show my apologies?" Wanting to put a reset on the vibes she was sending out into the universe she thought maybe a nice gesture would do that. Checking her watch she figured what was a few more minutes of being late. She could always grab Fletcher a coffee and use it as an excuse if she needed one once she got up there. "I'm Alana by the way, I work in the minister's office." In case wanted to know where to complain about a dumb girl running into people.

| A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
With the use of a simple levitating charm, Kevin had his wand pointed at the box in front of him which contained empty vials for the pensieve room. The use of magic was probably unnecessary in this scenario as he could have easily carried the box in his arms, it wasn't heavy after all.
But his job itself required a minimal amount of magic so when an opportunity presented itself that he could use it, he would.
And while he made his way through the corridor, his mind was at lunch for today. Thinking about whether he would get something to eat inside of the Ministry or outside.
