| | Training and Trial Room The training and trial room on level three is a large space set aside for employees of the Accidents and Catastrophes department in order to continually work on their skills, or try out some experimental charms for assessment and tweaking purposes. While the room was originally charmed to behave much like the Room of Requirement within Hogwarts, this is no longer the case. Instead, the large room is relatively empty, though there is a large pool in one corner for practicing water-based charms work, and some heavy duty crash pads in another corner so that if you are levitating yourself, anyone else, or working with objects that are otherwise breakable, dents and bruises won't be an issue. These crash pads are also useful for those who wish to duel as part of their training and trialing.
If you need anything else within this space, you are expected to privide it yourself or speak with your Department Head if it is something a little more questionable, large or dangerous. Many muggle items are available in storage for charms work (including a few automobiles) and you may indeed find some items within the storage cupboard on the other side of the department.
While this room is intended for use primarily by level three employees, those who work in other departments may make use of this space with a written request and approval from Eliora Dodderidge, Department Head of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. Quote: OOC:
You are more than welcome to play your characters in this thread, A&C employees do not need to ask permission to be in here and are encouraged to do so regularly to work on their skills - including those that do not work directly with potions. A well-rounded skill set is completely encouraged here. If you are not part of A&C, please send a VM or PM to Shanners or have your character make an IC request in Eliora's office on this level.
Keep an eye in here, because there may be particular scenarios provided for A&C employees to work with.
As always, all Snitchseeker site rules apply. |

| open post! PHILOMATH ❅ not one atom, but two ♪ ♪ made of starstuff ❅ def main(): Bambi had really deserved that break. Really deserved it. Truly. There was no one more deserving of the break than one Bambi Ella Ackerly. If she'd thought prepping for the Quidditch Cup had been difficult, boy did she have another thing coming when they had to clean everything up. Magic is such a pesky little thing, she kept having to go and fix up badly cast charms and finito's for months after the tournament had ended! On her own, mind you, since she'd volunteered to head the clean up. And all of that on top of her regular workload!
So, see? She really had deserved the break.
So today, on this seemingly quiet day - she kept her thoughts quiet and to herself, lest the universe heard and arranged a disaster for her just before lunch - Bambi was here to practice a number of new techniques she wanted to try for micro-concealment. Muggles could be annoyingly observant when they were curious, and they needed to stop failing on the little details.
Conjuring about two dozen butterflies into the training room, she set to work. Conceal, don't kill. Time to focus.

Tho know that she thought this she was going to jinx herself but it was worth it. But she needed to work on her wand-work and figured a trip to the training room was needed. She walked into the room with a smile on her face just having a coffee from level ten.
Was good too. Which surprised her.
Oh..someone was already in here and seemed to be really really focusing...should she say hello...or just quietly walk by and let her do her thing what ever it was. "Cute Butterflies"

Oops, she said something She smelled that strong odour of that unhealthy beverage that people so unwisely choose to put in their bodies coffee before she noticed anyone come in, and wishes she'd brewed herself a nice cup of rooibos. It had an even better smell than coffee did, it was vastly better for the human body, and with almond milk it's a heavenly delight.
Bambi was then abruptly pulled from her tea fantasies when the woman spoke. "Hmm? Oh, yes. I'm doing my best not to kill them," the blonde said with a chuckle, and lifted the concealment charm she was working on so all the butterflies she'd conjured suddenly came into view. Three were dead, and she looked down at their pretty little wings with a pang of sadness, but the fifty or so remaining were quite a marvelous sight to behold. "Are you one of the new department hires?" Bambi could only assume, because the woman certainly wasn't in her division. She'd have seen her by now, and given her the same lecture she offered everyone on coffee. Awful, caffeine riddled devil drink.

Guess she was trying to conceal them without killing them and if she was wrong she definitely needed more coffee.

Best tell her what she actually does in the department considering it was quite big now that she thought about it. Four Divisions and Angelica has barely tried meeting any in really any of them but her division. Let's put that on thee to do list for the future outside of talking to Anya

| Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when Ursula had finally managed to get some free time in order to practice her spellwork which as a Memory Restoration Specialist, was crucial in her opinion. As she entered the room, she spotted Bambi and what was her name? Angie? "Hey there! Bambi, you'll get there on the Concealment Charm. I think you did pretty well. Only three deceased butterflies and at least fifty still thriving is a very good achievement." Ursula turned to the young woman whose name was unfamiliar and smiled at her. "I'm Ursula Agan and I'm a Memory Restoration Specialist. You're Angie? Sorry if I've got the name wrong." |

Bambi was distracted by her own butterfly display, so much that a moment or two passed before she remembered she'd asked the woman a question. They really were quite stunning creatures, weren't they? Mesmerising, with their colourful wings and energetic flapping. Nature's very own models. A throwback to her own career prior to moving to live a more lowkey lifestyle in the Ministry.
Ah, another obliviator. Bambi didn't much care for that division. No disrespect to any obliviators, they were astoundingly talented with their magic, but she didn't like tampering with memories. Not one bit. "It's nice to meet you, Angelica." Bambi offered her a Dazzling™ smile, and was about to further inquire into her life and her new job when Ursula appeared...
... and insulted her.
Wow.
The freckled blonde's eyes narrowed, and her hand tightened on her wand. "My concealment charms kept the World Cup undetectable to half a million muggles," her voice was cheery enough, but there was an icy air to it that was unmistakable. And if Agan wanted the statistic, she had it in her files. She could provide the receipts. "I'm currently working on micro-concealments of moving objects, a far more delicate undertaking."
Honestly, what a rude woman.

Honestly, what a rude woman. While it was nice meeting Bambi for like the ten seconds Angelica was in the room the mood completely changed when um...Again...no it was Agan...one of those two entered the room. Did she just.....
*0___0*
She just insulted both of them in a matter of seconds. It basically looked like she was being condescending to Bambi and then using the nickname she doesn't like.
Woooooow
And it was Agan...good to know. Ah she was a memory restorator. Um maybe she should just leave because she could feel the tension in the air...hopefully it dies down but right now well... "Angelica, oh right i forgot the world cup was here. Did both of you go?"
She was not much of a quidditch fan and really in Saint Petersburg it was easy to forget about the game. Bambi obviously just said so, but Angelica wanted to change the subject quickly.

Ursula looked at both of them very sheepishly. "I am genuinely sorry for offending both of you. Bambi, I know you did remarkable work at the World Cup and I didn't mean to in any way put down your efforts." She then turned to Angelica. "I am hopeless with names at times so I am sorry, Angelica."
Ursula headed for where the crash mats were and lowered herself down on one as her eyes began welling up with tears. She was dealing (rather badly) with some personal issues hence the way she was acting. It was her coping mechanism but it would always have a negative effect. She tucked her wand in her coat pocket and buried her head in her hands, wishing she could rewind time or something.

She tucked her wand in her coat pocket and buried her head in her hands, wishing she could rewind time or something. Back in her previous line of work, these types of comments were frequent, and she'd learned how to deal with them well. "Your hair finally matches your look, what lovely shade!" was always a nice one. "Oh darling, those heels make your ankles seem so much thinner than they are!" had been her favourite. And of course, can't do without the timeless classic "You look so much healthier without those extra pounds you gained last week, well done!" Supermodels were a catty lot, and she had been equally as backhanded; to survive in that world you must become one with the skinny banshees. She'd become terribly good at it, all through her twenties.
But in the ministry? With her intellect and spellcasting were questioned? Oh, heck no. The apology went in one ear, and out the next, because it sounded just as insincere as the condescending insult had so easily slipped out. "Hmm," was all Bambi could offer the woman, before turning back to Angelica and a minute roll of her eyes. "Yes, I went. My wife works in Games and Sports, it was a family effort, we weren't going to just sit at home without enjoying the fruits of our labour," Bambi grinned, spinning her wand in her hand. Or at least, that had been Bambi's reason for going. She was pretty sure Layla had to be there for work reasons, and in any case it was an experience for little Ariadne. "Not a big fan of Quidditch?"

| Hoping things work out for the better Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when Ursula noticed Bambi's attitude and her eyes flashed in a mix of hurt and fury. Dishonesty was not something that she was known for because she didn't possess it. The tears had quickly dried up and Ursula was now standing on the crash mat, thankful that her wand was in the pocket of her Ministry uniform.
She headed to the large pool of water in the corner of the room, drawing out her wand. It was the perfect distraction as she non-verbally made the water form shapes like some sort of aquatic ballet. It was best if she kept to herself. "If people can't accept a genuine apology then that's their loss, not mine!" Ursula thought bitterly. |

"It's fine" Really to her all she did was call her by the wrong nickname...was worse to Bambi. But guess they were just ignore her walking over to the pool.
Okay...Wife????
Huh, interesting. Wouldn't have thought it. "Was your wife working during it or did you both just enjoy being there? No, i always been a fan of football even if my local team really really sucks. Just could never really get into it"
Or wanted to for that matter. Still the atmosphere surrounding it and being involved in it sounded about as fun as being at a football word cup. Angelica thought she saw Agan...crying...nah she couldn't be. She was just seeing things out of the corner of her eye.

Angelica thought she saw Agan...crying...nah she couldn't be. She was just seeing things out of the corner of her eye. If Bambi noticed the woman's fury, she didn't comment on it and went on speaking to Angelica without interruption. In fact, the only time she glanced back at Ursula was when she started conjuring shapes out of water. Neat little trick, if she was being honest. Very neat. "Both? I think she had to be there," Bambi nodded with a smile and a head tilt, hip jutted out as she settled into the small talk stance. The mention of football summoned a delighted laugh out of Bambi and she immediately decided she quite liked this new hire of theirs. "You'll get on very well with Layla, my wife. She's a big muggle sports fan," she added with several enthusiastic nods.
Bambi had yet to determine if she also liked football, or if she had embraced it because her wife loved it so. In any case, whatever made Layla happy made her happy too, so that closed the lid on that question really. She would have Angelica meet Layla as soon as possible! More friends was always a good thing.

A letter in it's mouth, the little owl seemed to be either lost or stuck in the training room. It flew around and pecked at the walls, but it didn't seem to know how it got in or how to get out.

There was an owl fluttering helplessly about. Megan was half afraid that it would fly at her and peck the heck out of her as it was doing to the walls. She also felt sorry for it. How did one coax an anxious bird into being calm? Perhaps if she held out her arm with the lower part before her chest, like a perch, it would take the hint? “You look mighty tired,’’ Megan stated to get its attention. |

The flapping and pecking continued until it heard a noise. The barn owl turned it's head and looked at the newest visitor into the room the owl found himself in.
He flew to the ground and watched the human as she entered, hooting a few times and hopping in place.

He flew to the ground and watched the human as she entered, hooting a few times and hopping in place. Okay, so the owl ignored her hand. That was fine. Who knew if it would claw at her hand, anyway? Or worse, attack this gorgeous face. She cautiously approached with her head only slightly tilted to the side. The blond found it curious that it was hopping in place like that. Was it hurt? Was it too excited about something? She was about to find out.
Megan approached cautiously. “You mind if I relieve you of your burden, little fella? That letter, I mean.’’ She was standing a good five feet away from the owl but if it showed signs of not acting bat-crazy, she’d get closer. |
