Is there a problem? Did you witness a crime? Have something to report? Stop by the reception desk and someone will help you as soon as they can. There's an instant coffee machine shoved off in one corner with a few chairs. Fill out one of the forms by the coffee machine and send it by paper airplane to the division you are seeking, or to the individual you wish to speak with.
Feel free to help yourself to the coffee while you wait.
Everyone and anyone is welcome to RP here! Our receptionist is a NPC (non-playable character) by the name of Muriel. She's efficient and quiet (because obviously theres nobody RPing her! If you address her nobody will respond.) If your character is here to visit with a DMLE employee, you can feel free to post on through to the appropriate area, (just make sure you start by coming through here!) Alternatively if you wish to create your own RP, report a crime or anything like that, feel free to PM the Department Head and we can try to figure something out for you! If nobody responds to you in due time, please send a PM or VM to one of the active employees!
Playing Receptionist for today :P Come say hello to Creed.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
Creed entered the Reception Area carrying his briefcase in one hand and letting a few piles of papers float neatly stacked behind him. He would need to sort through some of these documents today and figure out exactly what the previous IUMO Chief Inspector had not completed before departing the position. It seemed he had quite a bit of work left to finish for him.
No matter. Creed was up to the task.
He moved his way behind the reception counter and gently placed all the documents onto the desk behind the raised counter in front of him. he set his brief case at his feet and picked up the first document at the top of the stack and began reading it and marking issues and mistakes he found from the previous gentleman's work. He would completely flip his department around while he was here.

"I'm here, I'M HERE! Muriel, I'M ON TIME, I PROMISE!" Matt yelled called out to their receptionist as he ran in, clearly having just come from the gym area. Without looking at who was sitting there, the young man leaned on the desk with one hand and nearly bent in half as he caught his breath.
He wasn't exactly on time, see. It was totally his bad. It WASN'T as if it happened often, though. Really, it wasn't! IT WASN'T!! "Could you please just, y'know, let that one slip? Y'know, just don't mention anything to um... y'know." He continued still without looking up.
It wasn't like he was unfit or anything, it was just that he had ran REALLY HARD to get there on time, alright. See. That was commitment. Matt was truly COMMITTED to his work!!
HE WAS!!

HE WAS!!
Who was?....Was this young lad running? In this professional place of work!? Shame. Creed shot him a look of disgust as soon as the boy leaned onto the counter and started calling him Muriel.
"Muriel is out for a month." He spoke with a rather gruff and unamused tone of voice.
Creed was easily able to deduce who this child was.
Rushing to get in. Begging to not be reported.
He was YATI.
If he were at the rather brief meeting he would know that Muriel was out and that it was up to them to cover for her whenever they were able. "Stand straight. I might not report you if you inform why you were late, young man."
The tall foreboding bald elderly gentleman in his black suit and navy tie stood straight himself and crossed his arms behind his back. Giving this child a once over. He was sweating and breathing heavily. "I might suggest a more brisk run next time as well. Do not overexert yourself if you are this out of shape." So yes. Don't be late, but also don't overdue it on the running.

Wait, wha??
Matt's eyebrows shot up as he kept looking at the floor, but he stopped breathing hard to catch his breath. Instead, he shot up to stand straight and have a look at who in the world was speaking to hi-
"Oh yeah." Muriel was away. Actually, he knew that. Lol. "Sorry 'bout that, mate, for a moment I forgot she wasn't here." Matt chuckled, patting the other man's arm. "'S not like I thought you were really a woman or anything."Snort.
Only... was the man trying to threaten him? Lol. Who was he again? Matt... also forgot. He'd not report him if he told him why he was late, 'young man'? What was this, back to school? Loooool. "I was just working out, old man." The last words came out of his mouth before he could stop himself and Matt bit his lower lip not to crack up and/or say anything else he shouldn't.
Whoa, wha! And now he was implying Matt WAS unfit. PFFFFFT, whaaaa. "Look, mate, I'm alright. I promise." He gave the man a look that could be seen as meaningful yet the cheekiness behind it was real. Nyehehe. "I'm not out of shape, I'm just, y'know... trying to set an example here."
Clearly.

Clearly.
He looking at him as though he was Mrs.Doubtfire.
Creed was in fact not Mr. Doubtfire.
He had not prepared himself for the constant use of the Word 'Mate' being in America so long he had forgotten that bit about the United Kingdom.
The Tall man begrudgingly shrugged his arm away when the young man pat it. There was such a thing as personal space. He barely knew this child.
He did not humor him with answer. Of course he was not a woman. Look at him! He scowled.
Oh but no no no. That last comment. "Your name...now." Creed was going to set this young man straight. He had permission to use an Auror or a YATI if they were available to him for his trip to Diagon Alley. AND WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT!? The boy had graciously volunteered his time.
"Whether you are or are not alright is still up for debate" he retorted, no longer speaking of this YATI's physical condition.
"Try harder" because this example was very poorly given.
He will report to Ms.Cambridge within the hour on his intention of taking his young YATI under his wing, and then head to Diagon Alley to investigate this Vendor.

Matt pursed his lips to be able to stifle an amused chuckle at the man's reactions. He was one of those Ministry employees, then. The awfully serious type. Pffffft, lol. If only this former Gryffindor could convince everyone that you didn't have to be so dull to be taken seriously.
And now the old man was demanding Matt's name as if he were his boss or teacher or dad. Aw, Merlin, please. "Solo." He replied. Matt himself couldn't for the life of him remember this man's name or his job title. He was new, wasn't he?
Or had Matt actually just never noticed him? Er... that would be kinda sad if it was true. Should he feel bad for the old man?
...
Nah.
And what in the world was he going on about now? Debate? Try harder? Wha? Matt gave him a blank stare before shaking his head as if trying to clear his thoughts. "Sorry, you lost me there... sir..?" Not really a question, but what was his name again??
Mr. Dull?

New or not to his department, Creed had seniority on this child and when respect was due respect was given. He raised an eyebrow when the boy answered him. "Solo?" Was he for real? "Like Han?" Creed was no fool. He would know when someone was lying to him about a name. And Creed knew all there was to know about Star Wars. But he would humor this kid because Solo was still a pretty interesting name to give, and Creed did enjoy the movies.
"That does not matter whether I had your attention then or not. I have it now." I will be needing assistance in Diagon Alley with a job Ms. Cambridge asked of me to look into, Han." he cocked his eyebrow up at the boy again. "That assistance will be coming from you." He will go an inform Ms. Cambridge within the hour of taking Han Solo here with him as the extra help, as well as asking if there would need to be extra help coming from Accident's and Catastrophes at some point? He wasn't sure how far gone many of these fake items had been sold already, and what dangers they might impose.

WHOA!
This old man suddenly got his approval. Though he was still Mr Dull in his head, HE KNEW about Han. That immediately put anyone in Matt's good books. "Yeah, like Han." He replied with a side-smirk, LIKE HAN'S. See the similarity, old man? Muehehe.
But... this guy was an odd one, Matt could tell. The 21 year-old could give him yet another puzzled look for his next sentence, but he chose to play along too. You know. Normal work day. Matt couldn't possibly take everything so seriously, could he?
It was hard keeping a straight face when being called 'Han', but Matt did manage it. Thanks, Mandy, for all those years in the theatre.
Say what now? Lol. Pls, old man.
"I see." Matt gave him a cheeky, amused look as he crossed his arms over his chest. "You're my new boss, then, is that right?" He gave the man a staged up-and-down look as if he cared about such things before dropping his arms to his sides again and shrugging nonchalantly. "Alright, then. What's my first task, boss?" He asked wryly, his Han Solo smug smirk still on his face.

This was incredibly unlike Andrei Romanos who almost never went anywhere without an invitation or proper notification. Especially if he were to magically cross over several boarders. But the Romanian was in haste, the visions he had seen in the fires as he practiced all to vivid in his memory and he simply could not spare another moment without coming to London to see first hand if she was okay. His uncle had assured him that she was, that the department's excursion into the mist had accomplished much and Emilia was unharmed...but the word of his uncle was not good enough.
His own eyes were the only proof that would do. And touch, if she were to allow it.
It had been years since they had last been in each other's presence. It was a luxury he dared not indulge for himself, not after what he had done to her, and it was with a sadness as deep as the ocean that they had drifted. Though perhaps it was also necessary, necessary for the both of them to heal.
He sincerely hoped that his arrival here at the British Ministry of Magic did not trespass on her progress and growth.
Arriving at the reception area, Andrei nearly pleaded with the receptionist to send notice to one Emilia Espinosa that she had an urgent visitor. Thankfully, he had been able to collect himself and his emotions, permitting him to ask in a true gentleman's tone.

She didn't get many visitors at work, certainly not the urgent kind. It was why a million possible emergencies were going through her mind as she headed towards the waiting area, many involving her grandmother whose health had been declining recently. This was bad, it had to be bad, and Emilia fully expected to find Rosie waiting for her as she paused by the reception desk, taking a minute to mentally prepare herself for whatever news she was about to get. Only as she lifted her gaze, she did not find her older cousin waiting for her. No, it was someone else, someone she'd convinced herself that she'd never see again, and yet, here he was.
Andrei.
He looked different than she remembered. Older, stronger, more sure of himself. She couldn't help but wonder if the same was true for her. She found herself hoping that it was as she urged her feet to work, her mouth to. The lump in her throat was hard to swallow, but she did. "Hi." It was all she could manage at the moment, but it would have to do. She tucked some of her long brown hair behind her ear and moved closer, allowing herself to take him in. Somewhere in there was the boy she used to know, but that boy seemed so far away now. A distant memory. She wondered who the man that stood in front of her was, and she felt quite sad that she had no idea.

What was he doing here?
He had seen all kind of bizarre creatures and scenes in his line of work with the Russian Ministry, but this moment right now was the most surreal experience of his life to date. In some ways it felt like finally coming home to a piece of himself that he had lost a long time again, so familiar that he still had every hue of her doe-like brown eyes memorized. In others, it was like gazing at a complete stranger. He was not sure which was the more predominant feeling as he held his breath and took a step closer.
Instinct and memory had his limbs wishing to hold her, memory and respect of very defined boundaries still his arms' movements. And then he found words leaving his lips before he even realized it. "...I had to see for myself...that you are okay."

He knew enough and that was all that had mattered to him.
He ventured another step closer, his gaze dropping to her hand for the briefest of moments before politely returning to her face to continue speaking. "I was dancing with my flames," he began, the visual from that night haunting his dreams and more quiet moments during the day. "And I saw you, your face, your form, in great peril. I did not know what from or even where you were. I knew from uncle that you were working for the Ministry now, Law Enforcement..." He paused there to smile gently, warmly, and took another small step. "...it suits you." He let that compliment linger in the air for a bit. "I've been recovering from a few matters myself..." The remains of which, the scars, were still somewhat prominent in the slashes and puncture wounds peeking out from his shirt. "...or I would have come sooner. I knew of the plight that had stricken Hogwarts but did not until more recently learn that it had been boggarts. Uncle assured me that you were well and safe...but I couldn't take another's word alone."

She noticed and she wanted to offer her hand to him. It was a familiar urge and she knew there would be comfort in the warmth of their fingers intertwined because it was familiar and calming. It had always been for her. Only she hadn't been allowed to hold his hand for a long time now. It wasn't her hand to hold anymore and she wasn't sure what it would make her feel to allow for such a thing to happen, knowing she'd eventually have to let go again.
She could picture it, the scene he was describing for her. His abilities had always been powerful, but this was something she hadn't expected and it must've shown on her face. She had questions, like whether anything like that had happened before, because it was a skill that could be useful, but any questions had been quieted by the smile he was now wearing. "Thanks," She offered softly in reply, a small smile playing on her own lips. "I feel good when I'm doing it." Training, helping, keeping busy mind, body, and soul. It had been good for her in ways she couldn't quite put into words and she was proud of herself, and that showed. It felt good.
"Were you hurt?" She found herself looking for signs that he'd been harmed in some way, her chocolate brown eyes settling on the scars and growing wide. She reached out to touch one, not thinking, and as soon as her fingertips touched his skin she drew back. "Sorry, I-I didn't realize. I hope you're okay now." And she truly did, the thought of anything bad happening to him not something she was willing to entertain. "And I am. Okay, I mean. It was awful, and sometimes I get nightmares, but I'm okay." She felt okay. Like she'd conquered the past somehow having had to face that boggart.

He smiled softly, taking her in and recalling the first time they had ever met in Sugarplums back before they had even started Durmstrang. It may cause others to wrinkle their noses in disgust, but he could even recall their journeys to the school - by ship, of course - in the earlier years in which Emilia suffered seasickness and he, without question, offered his fedora for her to relieve herself in. It was a mess that was easily cleaned up...unlike the mess that had come years later. The one that ultimately divided them. One that had entirely been his fault.
"You look immaculate, Emilia," he replied easily, his eyes warm and spirit at ease in her presence now that he knew she was truly okay. Better than okay.
"I am fine now, that is all you need concern yourself with," he said reassuringly. There was absolutely no need to tell her about his near death by the hands of dark fae in the wilderness of Russia. "I ha----" He had not expected her to touch him. In fact, he had been trying to figure out how to politely request that he take her hand and where he could slip that into their conversation. He did not recoil other otherwise show any sort of negative response, other than his eyes widening a little in surprise.
Though now seemed as good a time to make a request as ever.
"Emilia...may I?" he asked gently, extending one of his hands towards her for her to rest her own upon. If she were willing, that is.

"Emilia...may I?" he asked gently, extending one of his hands towards her for her to rest her own upon. If she were willing, that is.
Emilia looked down at herself, smiling a little and shrugging her shoulders as her gaze met his again. "Thank you." It had taken a long time for her to feel comfortable in her own skin again after everything, but she'd worked at it every day. It felt good to know that the progress she'd made was reflected in the way she carried herself. It made her feel accomplished somehow.
Though his words were reassuring, the little she could see of his scars told her quite a bit about what he might've gone through and she couldn't help but feel worried about him. It was funny how that happened, even after not speaking for years. Some things you just couldn't turn off, it seemed.
He knew this was an unfair request, didn't he? She did, though she slipped her hand into his and found herself wondering how many hands he'd held in the time since she'd seen him last. His hands were familiar and warm, but they belonged to someone she didn't really know anymore and that hurt in a different way. She didn't really know how to explain it, but she felt sad.

A part of him found himself wishing that she was still furious with him, that she would look at him once more with those parting eyes that still haunted his thoughts more often than he would acknowledge whenever his eyes were closed. Even among all the terrors he had witnessed, that moment still haunted him. It was proof of the monster that he could become and there was nothing more terrifying that than.
If she thought this was an unfair request, then perhaps she ought to lock him up for what he did next. In an entirely selfish gesture, he gently stepped to her and wrapped his other arm around her in a tender embrace. It was more affirmation that she was here and all right. At least as far as the dangerous in the mist surrounding Hogwarts was concerned. "Uncle tells me there is a pleasant coffee house here in the Ministry somewhere. If you can afford the time...perhaps there?" says softly as he held her against him.

She hadn't expected a hug, not from him, not after everything. The way he smelled, his strong arm around her, his voice so close to her ear. She hadn't been prepared for any of this and it was overwhelming, to say the least. And yes, she did find herself feeling angry at his boldness, if only for a moment. It had been so long since she'd been caught off guard like this and she wasn't sure she was okay with the way it was making her feel. Finding her voice, she spoke up softly. "Sure, I've got time for a cuppa."
Stepping back from him, she offered a small smile and motioned with her head. "Come on, we can take the lift down."

It was selfish and he would not deny that it was, not to himself and not to anyone. Any blow she wanted to land would be well warranted. Though there was a reluctance, he did loosen his arms from around her and denied himself any other gesture of affection. Truly, he hadn't even earned the right to that embrace. So his eyes were soft in their apology as he nodded.
"Certainly," he smiled in response, the instinct to offer his arm present in the way his arm twitched but that too he withheld as he fell in stride with her on their way to the lifts.

Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Lucy had been informed by Summer Intern Brody Hawthorne that her wand permit had expired so she had made her way to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement as soon as she was able to.
She had reached the reception area and paused at the desk. Who to speak to regarding this issue? Lucy spotted the coffee machine and the forms so she filled out a form addressed to department head Alexa Cambridge and sent it away. She then made herself a cup of coffee while she waited in one of the rather comfortable chairs.

It had been in and out of the department all day. Following that incident in the summer, there was a lot that needed to be sorted, people that needed to be yelled at, even more to be investigated and a sour department head leading it all. As it turned out, her little feeling of goosebumps and being followed hadn't all been in her head and while they hadn't been able to apprehend whoever it was, she was all the more determined.
Lex blew through reception area on the way to her office, having no time to stop but just before she could hit the corner, she heard the new intern receptionist yell her name with a mixture of urgency and fear.
Poor thing was still getting use to the place, and to her. It was an adjustment to be sure.
Alexa stopped dead in her tracks, waiting for whatever news. What she didn't expect was to have to stop for as long as she now was. A form had just been sent to her office? From that one there? Reluctantly, the woman moved back over to the desk. "What d'you need?" Was it anywhere near as urgent as the intern made it out to be?

Lucille quickly stood up. "I have been informed by Intern Hawthorne that my wand permit has expired and that I need to renew it as soon as possible. I thought it was best to renew it as soon as I could."

...Since when did interns get titles? Know what, she wasn't gonna ask. It might've resulted in an entire explanation and conversation. There were few things she could think of wanting less. Rather than get into it, Lex simply nodded.
"Right. That's something for Bennett to handle." He was head of security, he ran the wand weighers. "If you've already sent the paperwork to my office, I'll have it sent off to him. Not sure how long that'll be before it's renewed, goes without saying that depends on current workload but it'll get sorted."

Lucille nodded and replied with, "I gave my paperwork to the receptionist and I am sure that it was sent to your office. I understand how busy workloads can get. I'll return to the greenhouses and someone will contact me?"
