Yup, it's an office.
The space itself is meant to be anything but inviting. Wouldn't want you to feel too comfortable-- aka don't stay in here any longer than you need to.
On the off chance that you're invited in, you may notice a sudden drop in temperature as you enter the room. No, there aren't any dementors around (though those who were familiar with the Department Head may disagree). The office will most likely remain frigid all year round. Don’t bother asking for any heating charms, chances of that happening are... Slim to none. Best come prepared with a jacket of your own.
As for the setup, aside from the seats meant for visitors and the few lamps that light the room when it’s dark out, most everything is made of cherry wood. The office is quite simplistic to avoid excess clutter, but James does keep a collection of journals and books on the shelves directly behind his desk, along with a book or two sat on the table at all times. Perhaps the most unique aspect of the office is the giant window situated along one of the walls of the room. This window is charmed to show you a variety of creatures in their unique habitats, as if they were sitting just outside the window itself.
Best get comfortable on your own, you probably won't be offered anything while you’re here. Remember, James isn't here to be your friend, he's here to be your boss.

It wasn’t often that one of your old colleagues got in touch, but that is exactly what had happened… which meant that he needed to speak to James. Mostly to tell him he’d be out of the building today, but also because he wasn’t sure how many dragons had been spotted -- or if they had been spotted by any muggles.
This was bigger than him, even though he wanted nothing more than to apparate to the Dragons to try and get them to safely.
So, instead.. Here he was. Standing at James’ office door, knocking on it three times and waiting.
While scenarios of injured, distraught and confused dragons danced through his head.

Because just as he put his hand on the doorknob, there was a knock on the other side. How .... extraordinary. Bracing himself for a moment, he took a breath and opened the door. This better be important.
"Sloane," he greeted the man, a polite something-that-may-be-able-to-pass-as-a-smile gracing his features. "Would you like to come in?" The somewhat-not-really-smile was a fraud. For the record. But look, at least he was TRYING to be pleasant. If anything, that should have been enough.
And.
So much for that cup of coffee. Couldn't he ever catch a break? If the universe were trying to teach him a lesson, HE GETS IT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unbe-freakin-ievable. And on top of all of this, Eliora would surely be upset that he didn't show for their afternoon break. So let's hope this was worthwhile. Otherwise, James would find a way to make Sloane the receiver of the choice words Eliora most probably would save up for him.

”Actually, I don’t have the time - and you’re probably busy.” Well, he hoped that didn’t sound as rude as it did hearing himself back. ”I just wanted to show you this.” Holding out his hand, he passed James a scruffly written letter stating that there were Common Greens on the loose in Snowdonia… Somewhere on the mountain range and that potentially muggle hikers were seeing them.
”I’ve owled my Aunt, she is a Common Green expert and works in a Reserve in Wales that specialises in their breed specifially... In case they are missing any dragons." Not that that was likely. "I’m just giving you the heads up beore I head out to help - thought I could take someone from Accidents with me? Incase of hikers.. And potentially another wrangler? He stopped talking and waited for James to read… or listen to him… or decide. Something.
Merlin. Where at they come from?? Had they escaped? Were they wild? Either way, he bet they were stunning.

In truth because he was on his way out for his coffee break, but as far as Sloane was concerned they'd just leave it up to the fact that James Draper took his job very seriously and was a man of due diligence. Yup. That's exactly what had just happened here.
.... No sooner had James closed his mouth that Sloane opened his. And there was really no end in sight. The man just kept on going. And yes, James was probably busy. Could Sloane pass that memo around to the REST of their department? Because no one seemed to respect time around here. But neither here nor there. Apparently there was some sort of urgent matter at hand here.
The Department Head took the letter in hand, scanning over it as Sloane continued to explain. James was only picking up pieces of the information that was being shared, but it was all the important bits anyway. There was only so much multitasking a man could handle. "Yes, that all sounds very well," he nodded, finishing his look over the key points of the letter once more. "Grab a couple of our guys, and I'll send a message down to Accidents and ask for an obliviator..." Best get this mission going as soon as possible, yeah? "Anything else you think you may need?"
Transportation? Typically apparation would work just fine, but if there were restrictions other possibilities could always be arranged. But for time efficiency's sake, best apparate.
