Charles Hollingberry EraAll historical records pertaining to Ministry of Magic RPG under Minister for Magic, Charles Hollingberry [IC March 2097 - present; OOC November 2018 - present]
Behind this unassuming but heavily protected door, Unspeakables conduct research on one of the most mysterious and potent types of magic known to Wizardkind: Love. The door to the Ever-locked Room has been charmed so that no amount of Alohomora or magical pen-knives will permit entry. You might notice a pleasant or perhaps annoying scent as you enter. That would be the fountain of Amortentia located in the exact center of the room. To the immediate left of the fountain are workstations, cauldrons, burners and cabinets full of supplies and ingredients for the Potioneers to conduct their research. On the right side of the room are workstations where the Charmists perform their duties.
Caution should be used by all specialists working in the Love Chamber. Getting hit by stray spells or accidentally ingesting a potent love potion would probably not be what you had in mind for a day's work.
Cauldrons and entire work stations topple over and are dragged across the floor towards the Southern part of the Chamber. Phials and boxes containing important and rare potions ingredients fall from their shelves and leave a mess about the floor. Hopefully nothing too sinister accidentally mixes together...
The the fountain of Amortentia seems different, its Mother-of-pearl appearance bubbling and flowing in an unusual direction.
WHAT WAS HAPPENING. The normally mellow Cypress was disturbed by the occurrences. "What the fu--dge. Fudge," he glanced around. He was alone, but still. Didn't need his new boss to hear his sailor speak. He went over to the GIANT amortentia fountain...it looked bloody weird, and Cypress was leaning over it. He almost wanted to touch it, but knew better.
"What in the world is happening..." Was his potioneer buddy around?! "ADAM! Come hERE!"

The sight before her was NOT what Addison had in mind for the morning. Her workstation was on it's side all the vials of potion ingredients that had been on it spilled everywhere. Had there been an explosion of some sort from one of the other Charmists or Potioneers in the room?
The blonde quickly looked around taking a step further into the room, her blue eyes finally landing on the lone person in the room. "Cypress? What happened in here?" Did he know? Hopefully he knew and they could get this mess cleaned up before their boss walked in. Wow that sounded weird to say again. Boss. Someone that was NOT her now.
Wandering slowly over to where Cypress was near the Fountain she peered at it's contents. "What in the name of Merlin..." This couldn't be good.

Are either of you as nimble as Jack with his candlesticks? Your reflexes are surely being tested as the mysterious pull intensifies, sending more and more phials to fly across the room and cauldrons to go tumbling across the floor like pewter, copper and brass tumbleweeds. A phial or two of an undiluted yellowish-green liquid that smells strongly of petrol crash into and shattered against the woman Unspeakable while the Unspeakable asking about fudge gets a squirt - or several squirts - in the face with Amortentia as the fountain subcomes more to the influence of this pull. Not even you, Unspeakables, are immune to its tug and will find yourselves being dragged towards the southern wall.
Cypress HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS HAPPENING. Addison seemed confused, too. "I don't KNOW what happened but----" and that's when the glass vials started FLINGING THEMSELVES AT HIM. Cypress dodged one, felt the other grazed past his ear and clatter to the floor with a tinkle of cracked glass, and then was hit in the FACE with a potion he KNEW was Amortentia, but he was sputtering and it kept SQUIRTING IT AND SOME OF IT WENT INTO HIS MOUTH. He tried to spit it out before he swallowed, but it was too late-- it had tasted wonderful, but his eyes widened.
He could feel his face losing its color. "Addison--whatever I say--it's the Amortentia-----" he had a counter-potion SOMEWHERE but he was being PULLED TO THE WALLLLLLLLLLLLLL
"GAH! MY LOVE! HOLD ON TO ME!"

Slade soon found himself caught in the pull in the room the moment he stepped in. Phials were going flying across the room and the amortentia was being tricky. Cypress was shouting something about his love as he was being dragged across the room, which seemed a little unusual, but then again he didn't know anything about the office romances. The smell of the amortentia seemed stronger to Slade, though it was most certainly his imagination. Not that it had somehow gotten in the air with the splashing and spraying it was doing.
He grabbed the first thing he could find to hold onto, though his grip wasn't good enough and he found it slipping. He tried with both hands, holding onto a shelf. "What in the world is going on?!"

Did he just say he didn't know? The blonde side-eyed him to see if he was playing some type of weird joke on her but she already knew that he wasn't. Opening her mouth to say something in return she ended up yelping in surprise as some weird pull began dragging her towards the opposite wall. Vials of who knew what were flying about the room like fallen leaves whipping around outside in the wind. Somehow she managed to be missed by something that flew directly overhead but that only put her in the line of a potion vial that shattered against the back of her robes that smelled oddly of petrol but that she knew wasn't.
Dear Merlin they needed to alert their boss AND keep others out of this room! She was slipping and sliding towards the wall, stepping in unknown mixtures that were spilled all over the room, Cypress shouting about Amortentia. That's when she heard him yelling for her to hold onto him and she blinked in confusion the fleeting moment that the man was crazy quickly disappearing as what he had shouted before making more sense. Without thought she grabbed onto his arm but for no more reason than to keep them both hopefully on their feet. "I'm going to try to try to alert Airey of the situation!" she shouted over the noise of crashing items. Tugging her wand from her pocket she pictured her strongest happiest memory and gave a wave of her wand calling on her Patronus. A silver German Shepard burst from the tip of her wand and she quickly gave message to it to deliver to the department head of what was happening in here. She just hoped the message reached him.
Another voice filled the room and Addison tried to see where it was coming from. "We don't know but get out of here if you can!" Yes, get out and get some help!
Her focus was gone and down she went. The Charmist was now on her belly being pulled across the room towards the wall!

Tap.
Tap.
Tappy tap…
Adam shuffled through the door still wearing the oversized purple glasses he had sported at the orientation Ski-event and still sporting a large white and black cane. His eyes hadn’t improved much since orientation but back to work he had come. He hadn’t been of much help around the love chamber, but he had jotted down some interesting notes about the Amortentia fountain using his German-to English translation quill he had created. It was a pity he couldn’t read them.
Bump…”Ouch.” Adam bumped into the door as he walked into the room. “Hallo!” he called over the tap tap of his stick. He shuffled his way to a seat and after a few seconds of shuffling the chair around, he plopped into it. His stick slipped and struck something with a whack! ”Sorry!” he called out to whatever it was he struck. He hoped it was the table.

"OW!!!!!!!" Cypress yelled out as Adam's STUPID cane hit him square in the kNEECAP! "You could have broken my--------" And Cypress stopped speaking. He stopped moving entirely, actually, and the only movement that could be detected was the subtle breathing motion of his chest. He didn't blink.

This pause lasted for two minutes. That's 120 seconds, folks.
"My KNEECAP, MATE!" he said after the hiatus, as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened.

To say Adam was used to Cypress exclaiming about things would be odd, but Cypress (and well, Adam himself) did tend to get excited about things at times. And so, when Cypress exclaimed about and then stopped mid-sentence, Adam didn’t even notice.
The follow up exclamation wasn’t that odd either. ”Mmm? Youshouldbemorecareful,” Adam said rather quickly. Perhaps Cypress had knocked his knee on the desk. He himself did that all the time, even more so now that his eyesight wasn’t the greatest. Stupid exploding star….
Adam swiveled on his chair, completely oblivious to what was around him. His oversized purple glasses glittered a bit in the light of the Amortentia fountain. Perhaps his eyes were getting better; which meant the potion he was taking every day was working. He squinted a bit behind his glasses. The faint outline of fountain seemed to come into shape- and then he realized he was looking at Cypress. ”You really nnneeeedddd to geeeettttt a haaaaaiiiiircut.” Adam told his coworker/friend/potions buddy.

As much as Adam was used to Cypress, Cypress was used to ADAM being odd. Hmph. Cypress didn't find himself odd at all, thank you very much. And he'd even found himself a sugaaaaar girlfriend, meaning...Elise was very wealthy. Like...extremely wealthy. He never had to work again. However...that'd be boring. He enjoyed being an unspeakable, and he found himself remarkably clever in having snagged a smart, beautiful, AND RICH woman. They'd been together forever now, too. So the chances of them breaking up were slim. Well, hopefully.
Anyways.
He followed everything Adam said just fine. Nothing out of the ordinary here! "I don't need a haircut...My hair is pretty short, mate." He squinted at Adam. "Tucriah a sdeen ohw eno eht er'uoy ebyam!" He said loudly. NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. "Enac taht evah llits uoy od yhw?" Did he NEED a cane, then? Cypress was unsure. It had nearly de-kneed him!

He reached up and touched his pompadour, which was looking a little less pompy lately due to Adam’s impaired eyesight. But at least it was no longer pink. That had grown out a week or two before the star explosion in the space chamber. Did he need haircut? He didn’t think so. He had just gotten one about a month ago when he was still in St. Mungo’s. Adam’s dad had mentioned his need for one and a healer had been kind enough to comply.
Adam shrugged and moved his hand form his pompadour to his oversized purple glasses. He pulled them off and, holding them with his thumb and forefinger, rubbed at his blue eyes. His head was starting to hurt from the strain of trying to see things. Maybe he should call it an early day and go home and rest. But his father had insisted he wans’t ready to come back and by golly, Adam was bound to prove his father wrong. There was also the small fact that Adam couldn’t stand being confined in his flat anymore.
Cypress asked him about his cane. Was really asking Adam about it? Hadn’t he heard about his ordeal in the Space Chamber? Where exactly did Cypress think Adam went for two months? ”,seye eez ruf tug ton era srats gnidolpxE” he said tossing the purple glasses onto the desk in front of him. His ears were hurting from wearing them. And while he was supposed to keep them on in order to shield his eyes from light while they were healing, he just didn’t care right now.
"Well I had to go through explodingstarstooyouknowokay?" His speech sped up really fast. "I...think there's a meeting going on...that we should be attending? Right now? Maybe?" he said and nodded at the door. "I THINK I remember the memo. I can't remember lots of things lately." And Elise had been complaining he'd been acting odd but...he didn't think he was acting odd...so??
"Shall we go check the assembly chamber?"

After a very thorough and slightly invasive trip to the healers – which was rather pointless and time-consuming as it hadn’t revealed anything wrong with him – Adam led Megan into the Love Chamber.
” Pe careful apout zee amortendia fountain,” he said as he took off his jacket which was covered with dried brain goop. He hung it on a hook near the door and then shook out his support cane. So…first things first. Informing his new lab partner of the layout of the room. ” Vork penches here,” he motioned with his cane. ” Do not uze zat one–“ he pointed to Cyrpress’ work space.
Motioning again, he pointed to the back of the room. ” Bozion zublies are through zat door.” He pulled on his work robes, folded up his cane and tucked it away and then retrieved his vials from the pockets of the coat he had just hung up. ” Schall ve?” he asked as he walked confidently over to his work space where he promptly pulled out microscope and a set of ten small cauldrons.
It was her first real day back at work since the holidays and leaving the triplets in the daycare for the first time, had been hard and emotional for the new mother. Laurel didn't count the masquerade of the previous night as work, since it had just been joyful with dancing to classical tones with her husband and eating good food.
The sight that had met her in the prophecy hall this morning after Airey had made his speech about taking stock hadn't been a pretty one. Numerous smashed orbs and some prophecies missing had really dampened her mood and put her in a right state. Unsure of her next move Laurel headed to the Love Chamber to find Adam. Adam could ease her worries right?
"Adam?" Laurel called out as she carefully navigated around oozing cauldrons and workstations.

”Lager (storage),” he called out from the direction of the storage room. He would have come out, but he was a bit busy taking inventory as directed by their Department Head. He currently had about 5 bags of fluffy potion ingredients near his feet, a few bunches of dried herbs near his head, not to mention various glass bottles and vials of random pickled things nearby. His translation pen (hence the German) was busy scratching away at a piece of parchment he’d tacked up on the wall. ”Nein, nein!” he said gesturing at the pen in frustration. ”{Don’t write that – Puh!…}” He’d fix the list later. The pen’s insistence on writing everything down that he said in German was the least of his frustrations. Unless the new hirers were conducting potion experiments he wasn’t aware of, there was a pretty big discrepancy in the inventory stores list he had conducted a few months ago.

"Lager,"
Laurel heard Adam’s faint voice saying from somewhere. Assuming that he probably meant that he was in the storage room since he wasn’t in sight, she continued her careful navigation forward, toward the back of the chamber. As she stopped in front of the open door to the storage, Laurel let out a grateful sigh. She had made it around all the bubbling cauldrons and other peculiar lab inventions without getting hurt and it was a big relief. She didn’t want to tell Aaron that she had gotten a cauldron burn after just an hour at work. Turning her attention to Adam’s figure standing near the wall with stuff strewn all around him and muttering to himself in German she waited for the right moment to interject, but doubting it’d come soon Laurel called out again. "Adam, is everything all right?" Gesturing to the floor she asked "Why are all these wares strewn about?"

Adam was busy pulling a little on the end of his black hair. ”Nein,” he said shaking his head. Spending his first day back from the winter holidays in the dusty supply closet was not how he had imagined his day. ”Ahh…hooo,” The pen actually jotted down his sneeze. {“Oh for the love of Albertus Magnus…}” scratch…scratch went the pen still recording his words. He waved his wand at the pen. As if the problems with the ingredient inventory list weren’t bad enough, the pen was driving him crazy. ”Finite Incantatem.” The pen fell to the floor in a small clatter where Adam left it. In fact, the way he was feeling about it right now, it might stay there forever. He took a deep breath and then, shoving his horrible glasses back up his nose, turned to look at Laurel. ” Airey asked fur anozzer infentory chart.”He picked up one of the bottles of pickled doxy eggs, gave it a shake and then put it back on the shelf. ” Eizzer, someone is vorking on somezzing I know no about, or zere is a problem ze supply cupboard.”
The funny thing was, he had just done an inventory of their supplies a few months ago and hadn’t noticed a major depletion of any of the ingredients. So why was there a discrepancy now? He wondered for a moment if he should even be telling Laurel about this. Might it get him in trouble? No, the woman was good at keeping a secret, had to be in their line of work. Right? He put another bottle of something that looked like it might still be moving away on the shelf. Only the bottle never made it on the shelf, because he turned back to Laurel. Why was she in the Love Chamber? She never came here. Plus, hadn’t she been on maternity leave? He specifically remembered her being out for baby-leave because he had had to go home and ask Zita to explain what Laurel had meant by being in a ‘blessed conditition.’ He turned towards her, still holding the bottle of moving things. ”Vhen did you get back?”
After finding the Hall of Prophecy practically deserted, Catherina decided it would be in her best interest to check out the chambers as well. After all, its always the girl who forgets to check the other rooms who dies first in those muggle horror films she used to watch back in America.
Walking into the Love Chamber, Cath looked around while calling out "Hello? Is anyone here?"

Laurel kept quiet and waited patiently, restraining herself from making any comments as Adam kept cursing at things around him like his pen that she from observation gathered wasn’t writing down what he wanted, and the general state of the storage. It was better to let Adam cool off before she spoke, she was not in the mood for a fiesty exchange.
Nodding Laurel replied cautiously. "Yes, I heard Airey’s wishes/order for full inventory of the lab storage in particular. I’ve taken stock of things in the Prophecy hall too." And she was very worried about her findings. Eyebrows going up in surprise she asked "Really? There are supplies missing? How odd, there are smashed orbs and missing prophecies in the hall too." What was going on? Had mysteries had a break in during the holidays? Taking a careful step back from the bottle of something floating around and Adam Laurel said. "I got back from maternity leave this morning. Good thing too, it seems."
Hearing a voice she didn’t exactly place, but probably belonged to a new hire to the department Laurel called out. "We are in the storage room at the back of the chamber."

Catherina walked further into the room, carefully avoiding the fountain of Amortentia. At the sound of human voices, she walked faster, practically brisk walking now, heading to what she assumed was the storage room.
"Hi!" She said brightly, a little breathlessly from the brisk walking, as she reached the room at the end of the chamber. "Sorry to barge in! I'm just looking for the other Unspeakables. The Hall of Prophecy was deserted. Then remembering her manners, she held out her hand and introduced herself "I'm Cath by the way!"

Adam had opened his mouth to shout ‘lager’ again, but Laurel was a bit quicker. So instead he busied himself by putting the jar of moving things firmly on the shelf. Apparently, the Love Chamber was popular today. Often, most people avoided it because of all the potions bubbling around. Sure, the fountain of Amortentia sometimes pulled a few curious sniffers in, but most of the time the potioneers shooed them out. He bent down to pick up another jar, this time the item inside rattled. ”Are zere?” he asked as he stood up. ” See vhat happens vhen you take time off.” He smiled when he said it since it was meant as a joke, but came out a little flat. Because honestly? That dusty old chamber wasn’t often messed with. Mangus knew that Adam himself avoided it, unless he was looking for Laurel that was. Too many things for him to break or walk into. ” Anyzzing important lost or miss-“ he stopped talking as someone else walked up. He wasn’t entirely sure if they should be discussing this with anyone else. He wasn't sure how Laurel felt about him, but they’d been working together long enough for her to have earned his trust.
He didn’t recognized the voice. It was too chipper and too eager and therefore must be a new hire. ”Guten tag,” he greeted gruffly while shifting a bag of lionfish spines out of the way. He really needed to get the barrel of Bubotuber pus out so he could look at it. ”Ah-dahm,” he said waving in the wrong direction, not on purpose mind you. The man was basically a step above blind.

Laurel instinctively wanted to take another step back from Adam and his now rattling jar. She didn’t like peculiar substances in jars. This was why she stuck to divination. It was safe. Nothing could pop out unexpectedly at you from a jar. Smiling since she was really glad to see Adam again Laurel asked. "Did you have a good christmas vacation?" As he stood up and joked with her, she held up a finger at him, but with a sunny smile. "Now, now Adam that’s on Airey for not keeping things in order while I was gone, not me."
The prophecy hall was usually avoided by most and usually not messed with like the lab, but not this time. "Yes there are, I was hoping that you could help me-" Before Laurel could say anything else or show Adam the smashed orb things she had collected as evidence as they were joined by another woman. A new hire obviously if the eager and chipper voice was anything to go by. Smiling, she shook the younger woman’s outstretched hand. "It’s nice to meet you Cath. I’m Laurel, I work in the prophecy hall too." Before she had a chance to shout watch out, Adam had waved his hand in the wrong direction when he aimed to shake Cath’s hand. Laurel just hoped that Cath didn’t get slapped by accident.
Catherina quickly leaned back, almost stumbling back on her heels as she narrowly avoided Adam's hand/slap/wave action. "Nice to meet you Adam" She said, after taking a step back - like a 'let's not injure ourselves with a slap' kind of a step back.
Then turning to the other lady in the room, she returned her smile with her own bright one and took another shot at shaking Laurel's hand. Hopefully no obstacles from Adam this time "Its nice to meet you too Laurel! I am looking forward to working with you!"
Looking around, she noticed at Adam was holding an array of items, and counterchecking it with on his list. "Are you guys taking inventory or something?" She asked curiously.
