The Hall of Prophecy consists of a pearly white antechamber and a vast and dark long room bearing a resemblance to a large warehouse or perhaps a hangar for storing a muggle aircraft. The staggeringly high shelves of the Hall of Prophecy proper form row after dimly lit row of crystal clear and somewhat bright orbs of varying sized. These small glimmering vessels hold valuable prophecies within them only attainable by the person of whom they speak. Due to it's size and the sheer volume of prophecies recorded and stored within the hall, it is not uncommon for Unspeakables stationed in this room to go for long periods through the day without seeing one another.
The antechamber is quite the opposite. Small, bright and circular, the antechamber seems to only have one door - the one which the rotating room showed you when you spoke the name of this Hall. To find the door into the Hall of Prophecy one must know where to look. Lining the walls are egg shaped pods used by those tasked with evaluating and counseling potential and established Seers.
Along with the Time Chamber and Space, this Hall forms the Unspeakable Triangle of Knowledge.
"Let's go!" She called out to Jane as she sprinted into the Hall of Prophecy...
Catherina followed the sound, turning right and left, and going straight, depending on where the sound echoed most from. She occasionally shot non-verbal jinxes into blind turns before turning. It seemed like it had moved to the back of the chamber, but she couldn't be sure.
Jane really didn't think it a good idea to go running off into the Hall after an unknown menace--she would have chosen to advance with caution, checking down each aisle and around each corner as she went to make sure all was clear. But Catherina had taken off like a Quidditch player when the whistle blows--Jane supposed she was anxious about her work being destroyed. At any rate, Jane couldn't let her go off without backup, now that she'd joined in, so she followed after, walking briskly but cautiously.
Jane really didn't think it a good idea to go running off into the Hall after an unknown menace--she would have chosen to advance with caution, checking down each aisle and around each corner as she went to make sure all was clear. Catherina stopped in the middle of a dark and deserted corridor. There was more destruction here. More than half of the orbs were broken and several of the shelves that held it had been thrown aside. Did a giant or a troll do this? "Oh! If only there a charm that doesn't just detect peop-" She trailed off mid rant. There was a charm she could use!
"Appare Vestigium" She cast, moving in a wide circle around her area, watching as gold swirls emerged from her wand, coating the dark marble floor, and revealing a set of large footprints that led further into the Hall of Prophecy.
In retrospect, she should have just followed the trail of destroyed orbs, but apparently all logical thought had been left at the antechamber.

"Appare Vestigium" She cast, moving in a wide circle around her area, watching as gold swirls emerged from her wand, coating the dark marble floor.
Jane wanted to stop Catherina as soon as she heard the first word out of her mouth, because she knew what the woman was about to cast and was afraid it would draw attention to themselves in the dark Hall, but it was too late. Now to wait and see what the spell revealed.

At first...nothing appeared. Magic was peculiar in that regard. In fact, the spell itself produced no visible tracks of any kind - which should be a hint itself to the Unspeakables.
Of course, level 9 itself had its own personality.
Should the duo take a few more steps forward and shine a light towards the ground, however, tracks would easily be found in the remnants of prophecy sphere glass and dust.

Catherina stopped dead on her tracks as the light from her wand illuminated the ground. Her charm hadn't work, which was disappointing, but she really should have just followed the wreckage because in front of her were tracks imprinted on the ground, leading deeper into the chamber.
Just as she had stepped closer, trying to peer further to where the footsteps lead to, a loud crash was heard, and an echo rumbled through the chamber. Sending goosebumps through her skin.
She was way in over her head.
"Maybe we should send a message to Mr. Flamsteed?" She suggested, turning back to Jane. She could always cast a patronus to send him a message, but she wasn't sure how well patronuses work this deep into the Hall of Prophecy. Can her patronus even find it way out of here?

Yeah, back up would be ideal too. She was more along the lines of if they die, at least someone knows where to start looking for their body.
"Expecto Patronum" She cast, her thoughts focusing on her daughter. A silvery wisp burst from her wand, eventually forming into the shape of a cat - a tonkinese cat. The cat prowled on the ground, circling her around, filling her with a happy sort of warmth before stopping in front of her.
"Go find Mr. Flamsteed." She instructed "Something is destroying the Hall of Prophecy, countless of orbs have been smashed, I'm with Ms. Jane Howard, we're going to try to find out what is it, but it maybe something that we can't deal with on our own."
After receiving her message, the cat circled around her, moving between her legs, curling her translucent tail around her ankles, as if reassuring her, before dashing off to find Mr. Flamsteed.
She just hoped that it would find if not Mr. Flamsteed, anyone.
Turning back to Jane, she asked "Are you comfortable with going deeper into the hall of prophecy? I really want to find whatever it is that is destroying generations of prophecies right now."
Jane lifted an eyebrow. Comfortable wasn't the word she would have used for how she felt about it, but, in for a penny, in for a pound. Besides, she had signed up at the Department of Mysteries for the adventure, right? And it had to be better than trying to track down a runaway teenager in Muggle New York. Besides, she wasn't about to let this woman go in there alone, as she seemed determined to do. "I'll come with you. Whatever this is, it's not something anyone should investigate alone," Jane said in what she hoped was a reassuring voice, but which she suspected was veering on sounding like a soothing governess.

Catherina smiled, for someone who she had just met less than an hour ago, Jane wasn't so bad. Not a lot of people would willingly risk their lives for practically a stranger - even if they were co-workers.
"Thanks." She said gratefully, nodding her head at the woman's direction.
Then, turning back towards the path of destroyed Orbs, the Unspeakable squared her shoulders and marched on. A little more slower this time - a bit more cautious if you will. It was clear that whatever it was, it was playing the long game.
And so, they walked deeper into the Hall of Prophecy, Catherina occasionally stopping to repair orbs that still had their prophecies in them, and had only suffered minor damage. As they walked, she surveyed the extensive damage to generations of prophecies. What could have gotten into Level 9 that would cause this much damage? Is the Hall of Prophecy just a causality? or is it the main target?
Jane walked behind the woman, watching the rear in case whatever it was managed to double back and sneak up behind them--or in case it wasn't alone. She noticed with curiosity how Catherina paused now and then to fix some of the broken orbs--were all these prophecies now lost? Could some of them be saved? Apparently this Unspeakable thought so, and she ought to know, after all. And how could someone--or something uninvited have gotten all the way down to Level 9, into the Department of Mysteries, of all places. Jane was still too new to know much about how things worked here, but even she was pretty sure this was not normal.

On another day and in another time the sight of a feline patronus would have sent Airey Flamsteed into an elaborate and entirely unnecessary fright where he may have hidden under his desk...or on it. Perhaps climbed the top of one of the bookcases within the office. Today was not one of those. In fact, the man had been tempted to continue his experimentation with his new wand and see if a patronus could be destroyed. Perhaps another day. He had appearances to maintain and better use for the wand later when he continued further interrogation efforts in private.
His midnight navy robes billowing behind him, the department head descended upon the Hall of Prophecy and took a moment to recollect himself. Which included taking another sharp sip from his flask before tucking it safely away within the enchanted breast pocket of his suit.
"Sweet solstice...what in Orion's belt is going on in here? Black?! Howard?! Where are you?"
And how quickly could they resolve this issue so he could get back to more important matters? Matters that included a rendezvous with Alphonsine.

Jane turned her head at the sound of a man's voice--Merlin's Suspenders, that must be the wizard Catherina had summoned with her Patronus, the man she had been on her way to meet when the Entry Hall had presented her with the wrong door, the man who was now her boss--Airey Flamsteed, Head of the Department of Mysteries. This was not really the way Jane had planned to meet him on her first day.
She left her companion for a minute as she retraced her steps down the aisle they were in and poked her head out at the end. Yes, there he was, standing at the end of the Hall. Jane motioned to him with her hand; she was afraid to shout for fear of alerting the ... whatever it was, though Flamsteed himself had probably already done that.

At the initial sound of someone bellowing into the Hall, Catherina stiffened. Jumpy was not a good look on her.
She shone her wand towards the shelves to check which row she was in and called back "Between rows 62 and 63, Mr. Flamsteed!" She also watched as Jane retraced their steps. Turns out they hadn't ventured into the hall as they had thought they did - but, the damage was still extensive.
Keeping her wand in hand, and ready for any sudden attacks, Catherina also made her way back, following the sound of Jane's footsteps, and Mr. Flamsteed's voice. "I'm really sorry for this." She said contrite, she felt bad that she couldn't handle this on her own. But, she didn't want to take in something that she knew she couldn't handle, and potentially cause more damage to the precious prophecies.
"I was on my way to report to your office when the Entry Hall let me out here and I saw this mess. There's something--we don't know what yet--in here, destroying the orbs and we were investigating. And of course, we contacted you; it seemed like something you should be aware of." Jane added. Catherina sounded much too apologetic, she hadn't done anything wrong that Jane could see. But perhaps Mr. Flamsteed needed a bit more information than an 'I'm sorry'.
After her talk with Adam in the love chamber Laurel circled back to the prophecy hall with Adam to show him the utter destruction and bad state of orbs and prophecies. It hurt her heart to see such valuable accounts be smashed to bits. They had had no luck in finding Airey in his office earlier. Entering what Laurel considered her home in the Mysteries department it wasn't long until she heard Airey's unmistakable voice bellowing names from somewhere up ahead. Smiling brightly despite the circumstance Laurel said."It seems we're in luck Adam. Airey is here so we can report our findings directly." It was way better than having to waste an hour or two waiting for him to come back from a meeting or outing.
Walking further into the hall Laurel shook her head at the sight of dust and prophecy glass that littered the floor everywhere she looked along with suspicious footprints. Eventually Airey along with Catherina and Jane came into view. "Hi, What's going on here?" Laurel wondered, eyes looking from the women to Airey. The footprints she hadn't noticed earlier.

If this was what Laurel considered luck, Adam wasn’t sure he wanted to know what she considered unlucky, still he followed her into the room and then promptly turned around as if to walk out upon hearing Airey’s tone of voice. He wasn’t about get in the middle of whatever had set their boss off. Nope. Being on the receiving end of Airey’s anger once was one time too many. He had retreated a few steps only to stop because he didn’t hear Laurel following. Honestly, did the woman really want him prancing around the orbs when she’d already found enough broken? Might as well set loose a Sasquatch.
But, he had agreed to help Laurel so with a big sigh, the mostly blind man turned and carefully ambled after the woman. Stuff crunched under his shoes and there seemed to be a slightly sour odor to the air. It was similar to the smell of a room that hadn’t been opened in years. He sensed, more than noticed Laurel had stopped and he stopped as well, taking up a position just behind and to the right of the Seer.

Catherina turned at the sound of more people coming into the mess that was now the Hall of Prophecy and was surprised to find Laurel and Adam. Had it only been a few minutes since they parted at the Love Chamber? It felt longer.
"Uhm," She began, unsure on where to start "Something is inside the Hall of Prophecy. Something large enough to knock over several orbs while they moved." She lowered her lit wand to the ground, illuminating the path of destroyed orbs. The Unspeakable sighed, she had attempted to fix a few of the orbs that they had passed by that weren't as damaged, but it was still significant "We've been trying to follow the damage, but we obviously haven't caught up to it yet." She wasn't even sure if catching up to the thing would be in their best interests - but they had a job to do.
Jane was relieved to see some more people arriving. She didn't recognize them; she was too new to have had a chance to meet anyone yet. So she let Catherina take the lead on explaining things, and when she was finished, Jane added, "Those are its footprints," and pointed down with her wand toward the large prints left in the shattered orb remnants. Just so everyone was aware of how big a thing they were tracking.
Hallie thought as she stumbled through the door, her stomach churning. She can honestly say she has never been that motion sick in her life, but those damn doors wouldn’t stop spinning. Hopefully she would grow accustomed… what would people think if she showed up sick to work every morning.
Straightening her robes, Hallie looked up to find herself in the Hall of Prophecies…. Not her intended target. But the more Hallie looked the more she saw. Under her feet … was that glass? She looked up startled as she heard voices up ahead. Taking a few hesitant steps forward she saw… Her Boss?!? Along with four other wizards and a trail of ominous looking footprints.
Ummmmmm yeah, this probably wasn't Hallie’s area of expertise… this was her first actual job after all.
Maybe if she didn’t say anything no one would know she was ever here. They looked like they had this all under control…

Between row 62 and 63. It could be worse, but that was still a lengthy walk for anyone who wanted to be literally anywhere else but in the Hall of Prophecy. Even if there may be a prophecy in here that could aid in the mission.
For the greater good.
"Does this mean you are to blame for this mess, Black?" he scoffed as he kicked a broken piece of glass aside and watched it klunk against the bottom of the shelf. "That will be the immediate ter---" And then the man found himself interrupted by the other Unspeakable who claimed that there was something in here. Which he supposed they had the factual evidence to support said claim as he looked down and saw the elephant sized foot prints.
The number of Unspeakables continued to amass and he found himself growing more and more irritated. Irritated in the sense that, apparently, the wizarding government could not find their ways out of wet paper bag not catch a rat. On the other hand, it was beneficial to the cause that they were proving to be so inept. Perhaps this could be a test to see if any among this lot could prove useful. Particularly if he continued to fantasize about keeping the wand on his person, never turning it over to Lucien.
"There are now five of you present. Find and terminate whatever it is that is destroying Ministry property and records or I will terminate your employment." Was there an uncomfortably long pause between those final two words, or was it just your imagination? "Pair off and get to work. Saunders, you will be with me."

Catherina practically flinched at Airey's irritation. True, she felt responsible for not being able to handle...whatever this was; but this wasn't her fault! I wasn't as if she was the one who set a whatever it was that destroying their precious prophecies free. Thank Merlin for Jane who stepped in.
As their department head's next set of instructions, Catherina turned to Jane - they had been partners she supposed, since the start of all this chaos. No sense in splitting up now. "Let's go?" She half asked, half invited as she gestured to that way that they had come from earlier before the rest of group arrived. The longer they stood there chatting, the more orbs were getting broken. And she couldn't have that.

Why was Airey so worked up? He was raving around like an injured zouwou. Black and Anders couldn't be responsible for the elephant sized footprints that littered the floor. Was it just Laurel or was he acting strangely? There would be time to dwell on that later when Airey had cooled his heels. Saying that they had to find and terminate the culprit or they'd lose their jobs was going way overboard and made her angry. Laurel had several words on her tongue to say to Airey but she decided not to spill them, it wasn't the right time and she had a feeling that Airey wasn't in the mood to listen.
Turning to her best friend in the department Laurel gestured ahead among the rows as she pulled her wand out, it couldn't hurt to be prepared. "Come on Adam, let's go find us a culprit. I hope it's not another rock golem causing destruction." The rock golem did have giant feet though.

Pair off? Airey did realize that one of the five employees he was now yelling at was him, Adam, right? And who had crushed up the man's dehydrated ice cream? Adam might act like the department head was always angry and disagreeable, but this was highly unlike their boss. Short tempered he might be, the man had never before threatened to have anyone fired. Not even after Adam/Reil had trashed his office and attempted to eat his pet rock. He wondered what Laurel thought of the man's behavior.
Adam wasn't even sure who was all in the room because besides Laurel, the rest seemed to be new hirers. So it was the smallest of reliefs to the German when Laurel paired off with him. If there was anyone in the room who had the patience for his disability it was Laurel. He almost wished he had his support cane with him, but he had been feeling like it was a safety blanket and so he had stopped carrying it. Maybe he needed to rethink that again.
He took a moment to clean his glasses and then shoved the oversized ugly things back onto his face as he followed Laurel off into the stacks. This was her turf after all, and he would let her take the lead. "Anozzer? I'm not sure Airey efery found ze first." Their own attempts at locating had been fruitless after all.
Once they were far enough away from the rest, Adam felt comfortable enough to quietly ask, "Did he seem...wrong to you?"

Laurel waited for Adam to clean his glasses before they started off down a path of orb stacks that wasn't chosen by any of the other pairs. Stopping briefly to repair a damaged orb and clear away some glass shards to prevent Adam from walking on it, Laurel looked back at Adam. "Oh, right i had forgotten that Airey never found that first golem, but didn't it have elephant sized rock feet?" She had not exactly paid attention to that detail when it had been causing destruction since there had been more pressing things to worry about, like surviving.
When the other employees voices sounded very distant Laurel after a quick glance around nodded quietly in response to Adam's question. "Yes, Airey seemed wrong, weird even to me. It's very unlike him to threaten people."
As their department head's next set of instructions, Catherina turned to Jane - they had been partners she supposed, since the start of all this chaos. No sense in splitting up now. "Let's go?" She half asked, half invited as she gestured to that way that they had come from earlier before the rest of group arrived. The longer they stood there chatting, the more orbs were getting broken. And she couldn't have that.
Jane raised an eyebrow at Airey Flamsteed's outburst--this was the head of the Department of Mysteries? He was not at all what she had expected, given what she had heard of him. But she was not about to let a tantrum ruffle her feathers, nor was she put off by a irritable employer--she had dealt with all that before.
And he was right--they needed to wrap this business up. Now that there were others there who were aware of the situation and could report back to someone in case something happened--surely whatever it was couldn't take out all of them at once--she was ready to return to the investigation.
"Yes, let's get going. I'm thinking if we split up, go down both aisles at once, perhaps we can corner it, or at least get a good look at whatever it is." Given the size of the footprints in the broken glass, Jane was wondering if they might have more luck looking up--maybe they could catch a glimpse of it above the shelves.
