So, I figured it was about time I made a thread for my work, seeing as I've entered a few of the challenges now. I dabble in lots of crafts, though most of my submissions here will be beaded stuff, since I'm at Uni and don't have so much room to store/make bits. When I'm at home, I love to make cards - especially ones with 3d embellishments with layering, beadwork, polymer clay or embossed metal - as well as making different types of jewellery.
For the moment I'll just post links to my challenge entries, and then add stuff as it's made. I'm hoping having this thread will inspire me to make more...
I went to my local craft shop earlier to buy some stuff to make a couple of special birthday cards, and I got all inspired for two of the challenges - however, I need to go home and get some basic crafting stock from home before I get round to making them. How annoying!
In the meantime, I bring to you a bracelet I made a little while ago. I call it my Ravenclaw bangle, since it's exactly the type of jewellery that my last RP character Hermy would have worn. Well, and me, since Hermy and I are very similar! Both true Ravenclaws...
It's made from a wide variety of beads - I found a shop where you can buy single beads, so chose each individually - and memory wire. I wanted it to be a true eclectic mix, and be the different sides of me. My favourite beads are the chunky silver ones, the tiny dice and the blue shimmery shell.
Firstly, my Ravenclaw necklace made for the House Pride Challenge:
And I guess keeping with Ravenclaws... I went to a fancy dress Harry Potter party just before Christmas, and I elected to go as Luna So of course I needed some Luna style jewelry. I know in the films she just has the one cork on a long necklace, but with my jumper it just didn't look right. The earrings are made from polymer clay and painted. They were meant to have leaves, but the new clay I'm using turned out to be too weak and snapped.
I've posted this in the challenge thread already, but want to post it here for completeness as well. It's Mothers' Day here in the UK on Sunday, and last weekend I made the cards for my Mum and Grandma. The beading on one on the left is actually a bracelet, made from a set by The Beadery, and the papers are by Paper Cellar.
Wow, it's been a while since I posted in here! And thank you everyone who has commented in the meantime. I'm glad you like my stuff
Anyways, I thought I'd post some pics of my (winning ) entry for The Knight Bus birthday event. The challenge was to make a birthday present for Harry or J.K. Rowling. I opted to make a present for Harry, and made a Snitch mobile/bag charm.
Gryffindor colours, beads representing the quaffle and two bludgers and a shining golden snitch - what more could a former Gryffie seeker want?!
