Wooing the Flower – Sa9+ Ron was head over heels infatuated with Fleur Delacour back in fourth year. Now, will he be able to finally win her over? This is another one-shot fanfic. Yes, I know, I’ve been writing tons lately. It’s just too addicting. Thanks to PT for the ship idea! After Fleur Delacour refused to go with me to the Yule Ball, I was propelled with a blazing fire to win her over. She wasn’t going to let me go that easily, I was sure. If I somehow proved myself that I was worthy of her, I know she’d think twice. First of all, I had to think of a plan. My first thought was to ask my best mate, Harry. Thinking it over, however, I decided against it; sure, he’d asked Cho, but got rejected, just like me. I needed to go to someone more…experienced. I pondered about this for quite a while. I soon found my answer. Walking aimlessly down the corridor, I bumped into none other than Cedric Diggory. “Oh! Sorry about that,” he apologized with a repentant smile, and then moved out of my way. “Cedric! Wait!” I cried before I could help myself. Ron, what have you gotten yourself into? What were you thinking? I reprimanded myself. He stopped, mid-stride, and turned to me. “Yes?” “Well, I know this is out of the blue…” I started, flushing to match my hair, “But…what do girls like?” I sound so stupid, I thought. Cedric gave me a lop-sided grin accompanied with a laugh. “Well, they like you to be polite, considerate, and if you listen to them, you should be fine. The worst thing to do is ignore them and treat them worse when you’re with your mates.” He shrugged. “At least, that’s what I’ve picked up. Did that help any?” I nodded numbly. “Thanks, Cedric.” “No problem.” With that, he proceeded down the hall. My mind was buzzing. Fleur didn’t see anything in me at all; she didn’t even give me a chance. Maybe if I lured her secretly, without her knowing it was me… A plan started to form in my mind. * There she was, shining in her radiant beauty. Her long, flowing hair rippled out behind her, bewitching me. Those bright blue eyes shone out, making me melt inside. It was now or never. Passing her, I dropped a note into her bag discretely. Very proud of myself, she didn’t even notice, just looked straight ahead. I sighed and hoped that she would come. The note had told her to go to the Great Lake at seven o’clock tonight, after supper. * I waited, leaning against a tree by the lake. Glancing at the large clock, I saw that it was 6:58. She would be coming anytime now, I hoped. Picking at my nails and brushing a hand through my hair, I tried to make myself look acceptable. The clock ticked on. Soon it was 7:00, then 7:04, then 7:09. Where was she? What if she forgot? What if she just didn’t want to meet with the anonymous person who sent her the note? My mind was racing nervously. I hadn’t told Harry where I was going; I figured this wouldn’t take more than half an hour. Right when I was about to give up and leave, Fleur came striding into view. My heart stopped. Hastily picking up the bouquet of flowers, I gave her a grin. Her graceful brow cocked at me. “Was eet you ‘oo sent me ze note?” she asked, obviously perplexed. My mouth seemed dry. “Oh. Yes, it was.” Without further ado, I shoved the flowers into her hands. “These…these are for you.” Dazzled by the flowers, her gaze met mine. “Why are you doing zis?” She paced closer to me, so that our faces were only a foot apart. She was close enough that I could see her eyelashes and the flecks of darker blue in her eyes. Remembering that she’d asked me a question, I stuttered, “I…I…” Words didn’t seem to be coming from my lips. Forgetting myself completely, I leaned over to her and brought my lips close to hers… “Please, stop!” She commanded angrily, shoving me away in disgust. “What do you theenk you are doing? You are deesgusting!” Glaring at me, she sighed. “Zis is useless. I must go now.” Huffing, she turned her heel. “Fleur! Wait!” I attempted one more time to convince her to stay. This was beyond the point of foolishness now. Whipping around, she gave me the most furious look. “Au revior!” I couldn’t believe what happened next. She threw the flowers to the ground and stamped on them once, twice, three times. It may as well have been my heart that she was trampling. |
