Behold: the post!  Oh, just a random note, this story isn't going to be nearly as long as 'I Can't Fall in Love with You' or even 'Seduction'. *shrugs* I thought I'd just let y'all know that.  Alarmed, Harry watched her cry for a few minutes. What am I supposed to do? He thought frantically, staring at his wet-eyed friend. Determined to do better than the time with Cho when he’d just patted her on the back, he awkwardly drew Hermione in for a hug. He could feel her whole body quivering in his arms and her tears leaking through his school robes.
Of course, he’d never admitted his attractions towards Hermione. She was beautiful, smart, lively…and close to his body at the moment. “It’s okay, Hermione. Maybe you should just ignore Ron for the time being. It’s not worth the fuss if he’s already gone after Lavender.”
If she were any other girl, Hermione would’ve recoiled and turned a disgusted heel from him. But she was who she was, after all, and she knew what he was trying to say.
“Maybe…maybe you’re right,” she whispered, her nose sniffling. Her head lay on Harry’s chest, which was soaked from her sorrow. “Best not to wallow in it…” She burst out in tears again, leaving Harry very confused indeed.
Running a soothing hand on her side, Harry suggested, “Let’s get back to the common room, shall we?”
Hermione only nodded slightly and allowed Harry to guide her back.
The common room was surprisingly clearing when the two made their way through the portrait hole. No one paid attention to the tear-streaked girl and the star seeker as they chose a secluded area to sit.
Harry offered her a cup of butterbeer, but she shook her head no. Thankfully, her sobs were subsiding. She was just so tired of Ron’s retorts and the way he was treating her.
Then again, Harry was being quite nice to her…
She almost involuntarily laid a head on his shoulder. He nearly jumped with shock, but relaxed. The pressure of her head felt calming, something nice to add to his over-hyped day. One of his fingers traced along the hem of her uniform skirt.
This is too weird, Hermione thought to herself, forcing her head to tear away from Harry’s comfortable shoulder. It was nice, but she wasn’t about to take on anything new at the moment.
“I’m going to bed,” she informed him abruptly, rising from the sofa.
Harry looked up. “Oh. Yeah. Okay. See you tomorrow, then.”
