Hello readers! This is another post. I hope you like it. “And did you see that awful attempt to save that last shot?” Ron asked. “McLaggen totally went off in the other direction. I’m just glad I got the position.” He smiled happily and downed some pumpkin juice that the twins had brought to the common room.
Hermione smiled. “Curious, isn’t it?”
“Of course, McLaggen never was a really good Keeper anyways,” Ron continued.
Getting weary of the subject of Quidditch, Hermione rolled her eyes. “Yes, yes, not as good as you though, right?”
He stopped. “You really think so?” He was hopeful for some praise coming from Hermione.
“Of course,” she replied with what she hoped was a cheery voice. Her breath caught when Ron squeezed her hand gently. It was so warm.
He grinned, except it looked a bit sly and shy at the same time. “Thanks, Hermione.”
She noticed how close they were now, standing in a random spot in the common room. Her face felt hot, almost too much to bear.
He wanted to kiss her so badly. It was the perfect moment; no one was in the vicinity, he was in a good position, Harry had gone to meet with Professor Dumbledore. No one needed to know.
Hermione stared at the floor. It was now or never.
“Hermione…”
She looked up to see Ron’s lips. And unlike what she imagined years ago where she’d cast his face away from hers and run away, she succumbed.
They were soft and tender, just like what she’d envisaged them to be. A few locks of his flaming red hair were tickling her face, but she ignored them.
Ron was in heaven. She wasn’t resisting. She was going along with him. But as soon as it had started, it ended. Hermione pulled away.
“Ron, we musn’t.”
He stared at her, aghast. “What? Why?”
She had her thoughtful face on again. “What would it do to our friendship? And Harry? It just wouldn’t work out.”
Ron kept staring at her in disbelief. Why did she kiss him, then? “It doesn’t matter, Hermione—“
“Yes, it does!” she snapped back, letting go of his hand. He opened his mouth to protest but her look shushed him. She walked away to the girls’ dormitories. “Just forget what just happened, Ron. Just forget.”
