Ron and Hermione. Hermione and Harry. Love triangles are always so complicated…but who will win this one?

This fanfic takes place in the trio’s sixth year at Hogwarts, though it does not necessarily follow the romance plot of the HBP (just to tell you, the Harry/Ginny ship is exempt from this fic).

I know I’ve used Hermione so much as the object of affection in my fanfics and I try not to use her too much, but when you have more limited major female characters, that’s just what happens.

I must say that I’m anti-Harry/Hermione and not a big Ron/Hermione enthusiast, although I find them cute. But somehow the idea of writing a story combining both of these appealed to me in some warped way.

Anyways, without further ado, I present to you, “ Twisted Triangle”…

“Ron, Merlin’s beard, if you don’t hurry up we’re going to be late for class again!” Hermione reprimanded her redhead friend. Sighing disapprovingly, she tapped a foot on the ground.

Beside her, Harry hurriedly gathered his belongings, though he smiled at Hermione’s prompting. She never gave it a rest, did she? Well, he supposed since this was sixth year she had decided it was time for more punctuality.

Finally, Ron and Harry were ready to go. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we were already late,” Hermione continued, bustling past some aimless second years.

When they reached Charms, about half the class was there. Ron and Harry exchanged amused glances at Hermione’s faltering firmness. “Well, I suppose…”

“Hermione, don’t even try to explain yourself out of this one,” Ron cut her off and took a seat.

Harry, still silent, took a seat beside Ron. The class started.

“That was a very effective class, wasn’t it?” Hermione said, more to herself than the other two boys. They just nodded uncertainly.

“Is it lunchtime yet?” Ron asked blearily, glancing around the hallways. He looked at Hermione for an answer.

She just snorted. “Honestly, Ron, is that all you think about? Eating?”

He thought for a minute. Finally, he concluded, “Yeah, that’s about right.”

Harry watched, amused at Hermione and Ron’s bantering. “Well, as you were wondering, Ron, it is lunchtime,” he informed his best friend. He could already smell the aroma of scrumptious food wafting from the Great Hall.

“Oh, good, at least someone knows what goes around at Hogwarts,” Ron said, feeling a rumble in his stomach.

This only earned him a dirty look from Hermione. “For your information, Ronald, I do have—“

“Would you two stop having a go at each other all the time?” Harry suggested as they traipsed to the Great Hall, feeling a twinge of annoyance.

Hermione sighed, shifting her book bag on her hip. “Don’t worry, Harry, bickering comes with strong friendships; didn’t you know that?” She shot a glance at Ron, who met her eyes for a moment then looked away.

Seeming doubtful of this, Harry cast her an indecisive look. “I…I guess so.”

“Anyways, that’s beside the point,” Hermione stated, softening a bit. “We all know that we’ll be friends to the end, right?” She arched an eyebrow, instantly telling them to agree or they’d have a lecture on friendship dynamics coming up.

“Of course, Hermione,” Harry agreed hastily, nudging Ron to do likewise.

They, of course, didn’t know what the future held for them.
