September 1, 2065: on the train
Initially, I started in the back of the train when I found a compartment that wasn’t too overloaded. It was just two fellow quill journalists (Callie and Aiden), Sabrina, and myself… odd; as far as I know it was also one from each house in that compartment and we each had a different animal with us. But then some boy came in and started talking to Sabrina, but he ignored Callie and was completely rude to me. He wouldn’t even tell me his name, but he looked to be a young boy of around 13 or 14 – probably Gryffindor or Slytherin. Then more people came in, including Garret, but when I offered him a spot on my lap he seemed offended and left. I didn’t mean anything bad by the offer, but just wanted to be nice – he was so small and I doubt I would have noticed the weight of him. Just as well, since I was getting bored of the crowdedness and decided to go back to the front – where I usually sit.

It was at the front of the train though where it all happened so quickly. Looking in each compartment, I vaguely remember seeing handholding. Now I’m not one to be picky of handholding, however when it is your ex-boyfriend involved, then I got a little lightheaded. Enough to make me FAINT! Thank goodness Cale Thornton was nearby and actually had enough sense to do something – including giving me mouth-to-mouth. I knew there was a reason to my meeting him in Diagon Alley. But for some strange reason, Tancred thought it was more than just a saving kiss… yea that’s right, it was at that moment HE kissed the girl, who I recognized at Hufflepuff Lindsey Hamilton. Pretty girl, but still, it was my ex-boyfriend who she kissed back. That was it – I really gave him a piece of my mind and walked out, furious with him.

Another girl who had been in that compartment, Elodie, who was also a Hufflepuff felt bad for me and followed me out. We talked a little and she seemed nice enough, but quiet too. Thankfully the next compartment was better suited with Savannah and a couple others there. Not that I was anxious for Savannah or the others to find out about my captain badge yet, but it was better than seeing my ex kissing another girl. Making myself comfortable and catching up with some girls, including Ariana Castior, a sixth year Ravenclaw, suddenly the topic came up. When Alexis pulled out her captain’s badge; that’s right Alexis was the new Gryffindor Captain. Not only did we share a birthday, our height, but also now we now shared the title of Quidditch Captain!

Anyway, the train has stopped and it’s time to leave and head off to the feasts… I’m quite starved, actually. But I will write tomorrow after the feast and getting some rest.

September 2, 2065
The moment I walked off the train, I knew something was different. I found Kingston, who seemed to be solely interested in finding one person – Lindsey, the girl who kissed my ex. But before anything else could really happen or be said, there were these new professors shoving us off into separate carriages; and by separate it was ‘boys over there’ and ‘girls over here’. That was when I knew something really was up with Hogwarts this term and I started to get paranoid.

As captain and a past prefect, I knew that I had to do what they told us; set a good example for the younger kids. Despite the revolting that was already taking place, I made my way into a carriage with none other than Lindsey herself sitting alone there. We talked minimally, before we joined by some other badgers, including Rapunzel Black. It was a long ride over to the school; a school that was not Hogwarts at all. We weren’t being taking to Hogwarts, but to some other school. As school later identified as ‘Belle’s School of Magic for Witches’. No boys! Which meant that I wouldn’t have to see Tancred after all; that actually made me quite pleased after the train incident and the bookstore incident. Sure I still had feelings for him, but the less we were together, the easier it would be.

The only good thing about being a witch myself was that we still had the Headmistress; which I knew we did when she said to say goodbye to the opposite gender.

Once we arrived Hog- Belle’s School, we entered the great hall per usual, but it wasn’t the same. Slytherin had an elegant table that seemed out of place, as it was dressed for queens… Ravenclaw had the second nicest table… Gryffindor and Hufflepuff were the worst though; no knifes or proper silverware and the quarters were completely cramped. I didn’t even want to sit down, it was so bad. The benches looked as though they would give splinters and wasn’t hungry at all anymore. At that point, I just wanted to see my common room.

Hearing the Headmistress’ speech for the start of term, I knew then she wasn’t happy with the situation. If there was a problem, at least I had her to go to. Naturally, once she was finished with the speech and said to eat, I still wasn’t hungry. Not after seeing the Great Hall injustice and hearing Rae talk of the changes. So I did what I usually did and walked up to the staff to greet them; only I apparently interrupted the wrong group…

The fearful duet, who I later learned to be the Groundskeeper Dion and the Flying instructor Wystan, was who I wound up talking with and they were not happy about my introduction. Here I was trying to be the friendly student, when Wystan deducted 5 points for being rude! I never lose points. Pouting, I left them and shifted my focus to the sweet librarian instead; she was always good to me and would at least put me in a better mood. For the time being…

Once the feast was declared over, not that I had eaten anything, we were shown to our common rooms. The nice thing about Belle’s was that were allowed to enter other house common rooms as long as we were escorted by a member of that house. Hufflepuff’s common room disgusted me; it was LILAC! Hello! Hufflepuff has colors of YELLOW and BLACK! Not Lilac! Horrified, I tried to make the best of it and just went to sleep… it would be a long seventh year – that was for sure. Besides, I had other things on my mind like whether quidditch would actually be happening.

December 3, 2065
So the last few months have been quite insane with all the new surroundings and crying girls over missing their boyfriends – insanity in such away that I completely forgot about this book thingy, which I just refound in the bottom of my trunk. Since my last entry of my arrival at Belle’s, I am going to do my best to recap everything that has happened in the last three months…

The classes are utterly pointless this term; so far I’ve learned absolutely nothing to prepare me for the end of the year exams, which this year would be my NEWTs. At this rate, I’d either have to spend extra hours in the library or would ultimately fail and it would ruin all my plans. Between singing about amortentia in potions, etiquette lessons in DADA, or flower arranging in herbology – it was turning out to be a complete waste of a year. The only thing semi-useful was CoMC about abraxans, Charms lessons, and even Divinations with palm reading was okay… but honestly, looking at the sky in Astronomy was a complete waste of an hour! I learned and saw nothing!!

Wystan. That woman seriously has a mental injury; just looking at her, the girls go running in the opposite direction and it makes me miss the charming looks of Max more than ever. Surprisingly though, she actually held a flying class, which as captain, I felt obligated to attend. Plus I missed flying to the umpth degree and had to get on the broom again. As with most of our classes this term, this one wasn’t much different; we were going to be learning how to ride the broom sideways, like ladies. Quite ridiculous if you ask me… but as usual, I had learned not to argue back since it would just end up with loss of points. The only good thing with the flying lesson was that since I was the only captain present, Wystan picked on me and asked me whose broom this was, who I guessed to be Vindictus’ and earned five points. Heh; lucky guess, but worth it, I suppose…

Speaking of quidditch and flying; about a month into school I did actually get a letter from Max telling the captains to start tryouts since he had regained possession of his pitch! I held five sessions and had eighteen people trying out! I thought that it was quite the impressive turn out for the badgers, which made selection difficult. However after several sleepless nights, I had a roster written up with four reserves. See below for the amazing Hufflepuff Quidditch team of 2065-66:

Chasers: Amelia “Captn Mumma Mia” Rose, Rapunzel “SuperPretzel” Black, Jack “invisible” Langley
Beaters: Tancred “Big Boy” Adara and Isabella “Feisty Sweetness” Tortellini
Seeker: Vanessa “Speedy” Corbette
Keeper: Curt “RazzleDazzle” Diggory

Reserves: Maddox “the new guy” Darcy, Savannah “Rabid Roaster” Mae, Kaika “little rebel” Lockhart, Jose “the little guy” Moiser

The team was perhaps one of the most amazing teams ever; probably close to what it was when Evan Cassel was captain about three years ago. Naturally, I set to work immediately with insane amounts of practicing because this was my last year and as captain, I wanted to win.

Which brings me to talk about the first quidditch match, played against Gryffindor. But before I talk of that, then I must first bring up another topic of discussion: Dervish and Banges. Not sure what made me go in that shop, other than I needed a quiet place to sort things out, but the next thing I knew, Tancred was in there. And Lindsey. Tancred and Lindsey were still dating, which was quite upsetting naturally, but yet I knew that they didn’t really have that special kind of love/bond. Even after talking to Lindsey, I concluded that she liked Kingston as more than a friend, but she wouldn’t admit it. Anyway, as Tancred was basically declaring is love for me and apologizing, Lindsey entered. Making matters more complicated when Kingston entered. Though eventually it all got relatively sorted . . . for now.

Back to quidditch. Oh the rivalry between myself and Chosen, who was the new Lions captain. Besides that girl being absolutely crazy and hyped up on sugar all the time, she was still Prefect Vannah’s best friend, so I had to be civil with her. Anyway, first match, I could be simple and say we won, but there is of course more. Curt Diggory is perhaps the most AMAZING quidditch seeker in the history of Hufflepuff. Seriously. That boy has skills, which I must pay respect to; so as you might have guessed, he played seeker during both halves and caught all three snitches. HUFFLEPUFF IS GOING TO THE CHAMPIONSHIPS!! And that meant one thing: more practice.

After the quidditch game, came the best part though. Being the awesome captain that I am, I threw my teammates a little mini celebration / congratulations to them in the locker room. But that wasn’t all. Tancred and I shared a special moment together, sealing the deal of dating once more! <3

And why am I not surprised it's mostly Quidditch. And the flying lesson Rhiannon hid from. And the incident at Hogsmeade, which I seem to remember had made it into QQ.

And actually only parts of Hogsmeade incident made it into QQ; the entries were ridiculously long, so for all of them to make it ... it would have been at least two posts.

So yes, diary, I realize that I have not written in here in over five months and I want to apologize to you for my severe lack of consideration of your feelings this term. As my seventh year and final year, this has certainly been one of more stress than anticipated. For instance, in Charms with Professor Hawkins (who by the way is SUPER SWEET!) we were studying boggarts and apparently Alexis Chosen has a phobia of me – odd, considering I’m not even her captain, but whatever. Anyway the issue wasn’t in that she was afraid of me so much as how she HUMILIATED me and made her Boggart-Amelia look like a clown! Pfft . . . whatever! She’s just totally jealous cause I was born on August First before her.

Other news besides classes – which for obvious reasons that they bore me or entertain me and mostly irritate me – apparently choir recruitment with Professor Melita is going well. It seems that Hogwarts, rather Belle’s Witches, enjoy singing immensely and perhaps this choir will prove to be something worthwhile as a distraction from being away from our second home. Oh yes and Cora Blue-Latiffa is like my new official singing BFF – just an FYI

The final update for this issue – as I am way too tired to think of anything else – would be of course quidditch. As you remember, Hufflepuff is going to the Championships for the first time in two years and as a result, I have been training with my team every chance we could get. But the only problem is lately the males on the team – mostly Maddox and Tancred – seem to think of these practices as a place to take out their aggression on. That’s right, these two big boys on the team seem to be compelled to beat bludgers at anyone, anytime, without regards to consequences. This includes some bludger hits at their own captain, which has her in half a mind to throw them off the team. If they weren’t good players. . . But seriously, the championships are only two weeks away and with NEWT exams fast approaching – injuries cannot be afforded. At all. Lay off the aggression, testosterone, or whatever else it is causing this rage. I do not know what is allowed at Cooper’s, but on the Quidditch pitch, during MY practices, it is a docile environment, a safe haven for PRACTICE and NOT to vent the stress of segregated schools. The end. And now. I sleep.

Can someone please bring some lavender and smelling salts? Seriously, how can one team beat us two years in a row? It’s not as if the amazingly and absolutely STUNNING Tagren Sevens is captain of that team anymore. No. No. No. It’s just Ryan Lee. A silly boy who out of the blue the ranks of captain as a mere FIFTH YEAR. He’s only fifteen. UGH!

After long practices and strategic planning, my RazzleDazzle seeker has decided to contract a bad illness forcing me to place Kaika Lockhart as seeker for the first half. It’s not that Kaika is a bad player; no, she’s very good, but she doesn’t have seeking experience and this is the CHAMPIONSHIPS! Not that it matters; we lost. My final game at Hogwarts is done. Gone. Kapeesh. And I have no one to blame except myself in the end; we tried and I do know that with all my heart. No matter who wins or loses, in the end, it matters not. What matters most is that each player put in effort and tried their hardest. We worked as a team. We had fun. It is the rush of the wind blowing on your hair – your face – the thrill – that makes you realize what quidditch is truly about. The bonds that are formed shall never severe. And even after my name is long forgotten, then I know that my life has been changed. That life as we once knew it shall cease to exist but nothing can ever stop us trying. Hardwork and loyalty will get one far.

Even though I still think of holding that Quidditch Cup, which has not been won by Hufflepuff since my third year when Evan Cassels was captain, then I still have faith. I know that after I leave Hogwarts, my legacy will carry on and that the Badgers of Hufflepuff will continue to strive for success.

Well, besides quidditch and the opportunity to kiss Maximus Vindictus at the after part – an awesome experience that I can’t believe I forgot to mention in my last entry – but YES, I’ve kissed Vindictus! Besides that, I doubt I would have kept my sanity this term. It wasn’t the lack of proper magical education that got most so much as that I was not used to all the female hormones and such. As the only daughter with three brothers, you could imagine why. One of the most amusing accounts – other than the Alexis & Boggart incident – would have to been when Willow Kovac predicted during a tea reading that marriage was in my future. Ha! Me – Married? And if I know Willow like I think I do, than I do not think that would be one of the first things to suggest unless it were true. Which in some sense has more anxious because of the one person I love – the person I dream about day and night – I really doubt he would commit. Not after our separation for a year plus. This terrified me almost as much as marriage, because while I wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with him, then I also wanted freedom. Independence.

Moving on though: Quidditch was one of the things that kept me sane; that and singing. The end-of-term exams for classes were – as to be expected – a joke. NEWT examinations were challenging, but with intuition and all the in-between quidditch practice study sessions throughout the term, then I think I’ve hopefully managed all right.

Which brings us to the end of term feast. One that I was not looking forward to since the welcome feast, since there would be no boys. Like I mentioned, girls have drama. Besides, the boys were the other half of Hogwarts who I had grown attached to over the years. Without the wizards of Hogwarts there, then there would be no ending to my final year of Hogwarts. It would be just simply another end. No finale. Besides, Hufflepuff was getting neither House nor Quidditch Cup, so where was the motivation to attend anyway? Even in all the points that I had achieved that year, we got nothing. We lost. Again.

Had it not been for earlier in the day when I discovered the location of the feast was to be at Hogsmeade, then probably would have skipped it. Even signing the memory book could not have been worth the emotions. But the feast was at Hogsmeade, which meant only one thing: the boys and girls would be reunited at the closing feast!

And even as I arrived at the Hufflepuff table and Garret Crocker seemed eager to avoid my gaze – silly first year – then I knew I had made the right decision in my attendance. Even if Josh Moonson still hated me or Tancred Adara (*sighs*) still seemed more secretive than usual or Neo Masterson & Caleum Myers were perhaps still some smoky hot professors that Cooper’s had to offer. Because Myers and Masterson were undoubtedly still hostile over girls (myself included) at having managed to sneak over for Myers’ lesson. None of that mattered though because as Headmistress Rae said in her speech, current and future students would never have to deal with the unjust gender separation again. Hogwarts would be back next term.

Not to mention that Headmistress Rae had also decided to not award the house cup this term due to house bias with the house point system. Though instead of the House Cup, she awarded individual plaques to the top point earners in the school, which meant my hardwork DID pay off! Myself, fellow seventh year ~~and arch-enemy~~ Cassandra, fourth year Anna Greingoth, and shockingly a first year, Celandine Toussaint were the recipients of the individual house plaques.

Before I close out my final entry, then I need to remark on one thing. Upon signing the seventh year memory book, I realized that I needed something to leave my mark. Because even after my name is long forgotten, the memories of my time at Hogwarts are lost, then I will know that my time as a Hogwarts student is done. My road ahead will not always be straight and easy, but at least enjoy it while we can. Thus, before we parted from the feast and before the Headmistress’ speech, myself and Cora Blue Latiffa – seventh year Slytherin – danced our way to the Dias and sang our hearts out to a muggle song “Dancing Queen” by Abba.

And tomorrow, we board the Hogwarts Express. For the last time.
